Paul Meola

Paul Meola, 90. of West Palm Beach, Fla., died March 12 in the Life Care Center, Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Born in Newark, he lived in Nutley and Belleville before moving to West Palm Beach 23 years ago.

Mr. Meola was a tool setter and machinist at the Westinghouse Co. in Belleville for 34 years before retiring 23 years ago.

He was a member of the Belleville Senior Citizens Club and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Surviving are his wife, Esther; daughters, Rose Marie Scarnegi and Diane Martelli; sons, Thomas and Paul; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Stanley Sass

Joseph Stanley Sass, 95, of Brick Township died March 12 in Shorrock Gardens Care Center, Brick Township.

Born in Bloomfield, he lived in Nutley before moving to Brick.

Mr. Sass was a press operator and machinist at the A.P. Smith Manufacturing Co. in East Orange, for 30 years before retiring 30 years ago.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Surviving is a brother, John; and sisters, Veronica Kopacz and Victoria Puzzutti.

Joseph S. Bator

Joseph S. Bator, 88, a lifelong resident of Nutley, died March 13 in the Van Dyk Manor Nursing Home, Montclair.

Mr. Bator was employed by the Bank of Nutley, which later became First Fidelity of Newark, where he worked for 42 years before retiring as vice president.

He was a life member of the Old Guard of Nutley and a member of the Senior Citizens Friday Club and Nutley Rotarian.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Surviving are Helen, his wife of 56 years; a son, Dennis; a daughter, Eileen; a brother, Louis; and two grandchildren.

Yolanda Acceturo

Mrs. Yolanda Acceturo, 92, of Belleville died March 16 in the Cedar Hill Nursing Home in Cedar Grove.

Born in Newark, she lived in Tamarac, Fla., for 25 years before moving to Belleville two years ago.

Mrs. Acceturo was a seamstress in the garment district in New York City for many years before retiring 20 years ago.

She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union in New York City.

Surviving are daughters, Florence Torsiello and Eileen Riccio; a sister, Elda Maglione; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Langdon A. Wagner

Langdon A. Wagner, 88, of Nutley died March 15 in the Clara Maass Medical Center, Nutley.

Born in Kearny, he lived in Nutley for 80 years.

Mr. Wagner was a mechanic at the Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care Center at East Orange for 35 years before retiring in 1982.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Old Guard of Nutley and a past master of the F&AM Nutley Lodge 25.

Surviving is a son, Langdon A. Jr.

Marjorie Panier

Marjorie Panier, 51, of Belleville died March 2 at home.

Born in Montclair, she lived in Belleville for most of her life.

Mrs. Panier was an executive secretary for the law firm of Sills, Cummis in Newark for many years.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Denise Struble; stepsons, Edward and Ronald Panier; and her mother, Marjorie MacArthur.

Charles Kilcullen Sr.

Charles Kilcullen Sr., 75, of Newark died March 6 at home.

Born in Kearny, he lived in Newark for many years.

Mr. Kilcullen was a production coordinator at the Bobst Group Co. in Roseland for 16 years before retiring 14 years ago.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1590 and a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council. Mr. Kilcullen was also a volunteer at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen; sisters, Kay Dulio and Nancy; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Caroline J. Fata

Caroline J. Fata, 80, of Nutley died March 4 in the Clara Maass Continuing Care Center, Belleville.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Fata lived in Nutley for 50 years.

Surviving are sons, Gerald J. and John A. Jr.; sisters, Marie Hagen, Dolores Rao and Florence De Maio; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Joseph John Alfonso

Joseph John Alfonso, 66, of Belleville died March 6 at home.

Born in Jersey City, he lived in Belleville for 26 years.

Mr. Alfonso was a laborer with the Laborers International Union of North America in Jersey City for 46 years.

He was a member of the Laborers Union Local 325 in Hudson County.

Surviving are daughters, Nicole Cristina and Lisa Marie.

Anthony Nicosia

Anthony Nicosia, 87, of Belleville died March 7 at home. Mr. Nicosia was a tool-and-die maker at Joyal Products in Linden for many years before retiring 22 years ago.

Born in Newark, he lived in Belleville for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Anne; sons, Joseph Sr., Rosario and Anthony; a stepson, Ralph Napolitano; stepdaughters, Lyn Livesay and Jeannie Williams; brothers, Rosario and Charles; a sister, Jennie Mazzillo; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

John J. Ferrughelli Sr.

John J. Ferrughelli Sr., 86, of Belleville died March 9 in Forest Hill Health Care, Newark.

Born in Gironde, France, he lived in Newark before moving to Belleville in 1955.

Mr. Ferrughelli was a sheet metal mechanic at Lloyds Engineering in Belleville for many years before retiring in 1980.

He served in the Army during World War II as a technician sergeant with the Detachment A 329th Ordinance Depot Co.

The recipient of two Bronze Stars, Mr. Ferrughelli participated in the battles of Normandy and Northern France and in the European Campaign.

Surviving are sons, John Jr., Stephen, David and Paul; a brother, Andrew; and six grandchildren.

Anthony Cocchi Sr.

Anthony Cocchi Sr., 79, of Nutley died March 9 in Hackensack University Medical Center.

Born in Newark, Mr. Cocchi lived in Belleville before moving to Nutley in 1960. Mr. Cocchi was a toll collector and maintenance man for the Garden State Parkway Authority for 20 years before retiring 14 years ago.

A Navy veteran, he served during World War II. He was a member of the Stuart E. Edger Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 493, Nutley.

Surviving are a daughter, Darlene; a son, Anthony Jr.; brothers, John and Earl; and two grandchildren.

Eleanor Camiscioli

Mrs. Eleanor Camiscioli, 85, of Nutley died March 9 in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.

Born in Clifton, she lived in Nutley for 11 years.

She worked in the housing department of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, for 14 years before retiring 20 years ago.

Surviving are Dominick, her husband of 49 years; a daughter, Nancy Kennedy; a son, Raymond; a sister, Nancy Cervone; and two grandchildren.

Jennie Pribula

Mrs. Jennie Pribula, 83, a lifelong resident of Belleville, died March 9 in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.

Mrs. Pribula was a food handler at the Essex County Geriatric Center in Belleville for many years before retiring.

Surviving are sons, Peter and Gerald; daughters, Veronica Elliott and Lucille DAmbola; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
