RIDGEWAY, LINZY A. (Sellers), 58 - of Hammonton, died Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Kessler Hospital in Hammonton. Born in Hammonton, she was a life long resident. She enjoyed all outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. She was predeceased by her parents Lesker and Anne Sellers, her brother Buddy and her daughter Sherry Marie Deininger. Beloved wife of Herschel. Devoted mother of Bill Deininger (Patty) of Hammonton, Steven (Diane) of Georgia, Linda Franchina (Frank) of Hammonton, Ruth Lewis (Billy) and Dannielle Cottle (Jack) both of Harelton, Texas and Grace Ridgeway of Williamstown, two brothers, Charles Sellers of Hammonton and James Sellers (Jackie), of Warrington, VA. Loving grandmother of 14. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday evening after 7:00 p.m. and Thursday after 8:30 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. 3rd St., Hammonton. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 9:30 a.m., St. Joseph Church, 3rd & French Streets, Hammonton. Burial Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

SANTIAGO, HARRY, 48 - of Atlantic City and formerly of Vineland, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Eastern Pines Convalescent Center following a lengthy illness.
Born in Puerto Rico, Mr. Santiago had lived in the South Jersey area for most of his life. He had been employed with Wheaton Plastic Manufacturing since he was 19 years of age. He was a Master Mechanic/Operator for that company. Harry loved to sing and did so, often at the Pentecostal Church in Vineland.
He is survived by his parents, Raphael Santiago of Puerto Rico and his mother, Marianela Rosario Santiago of Florida; his brother Rafael Santiago of Florida; sisters, Nelida Santiago of Jersey City and Karem Santiago of Galloway Township.
Memorial Services for Harry Santiago will be held Thursday, December 18, 2003, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Church Menonita, 728 Wood Street, Vineland. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home, 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City.

SMITH, JR., DANIEL "Bud", 80 - of Ocean City, and formerly of West Conshohocken, PA died Sunday in Shore Memorial Hospital. He was born in West Conshohocken, the son of the late Daniel and Margaret Smith. He was the husband of the late Mary (Welsh) Smith, who passed away 13 years ago.
Known as "Bud" to all his friends and family, he was a gentle kindhearted man, who had the ability to make everyone laugh. He was always there for everyone.
He was retired, but had run his own restaurant for many years. He was a chef at the Valley Forge Military Academy and the former Spring Mill Country Club over the years.
He served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1946 onboard the U.S.S. Lovering. He lived in Ocean City for the last 12 years.
Survived by a son, Daniel A. (Marlene) Smith III; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Smith; brothers, George (Rosemarie) Smith, and William (June) Smith.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Wednesday morning, December 17, 2003 from 9 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. in St. Matthew R.C. Church, 3rd Ave and Fayette St., Conshohocken. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Stenton and Butler Pike. Memorial donations in "Bud's" name are for his granddaughter, Jacqueline Smith, and may be made to Jefferson Hospital, Kidney & Pancreatic Transplant Unit, Jefferson University, 925 Chestnut St., Suite 110, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Arrangements by the William A. Moore Funeral Home, 708 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA.

BOYLE, MARGARET "PEGGY" (NEE MOULTON), 85 -of Chase City, Virginia and formerly of Somers Point, went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2003. She was the former owner of Boyles Delicatessen and a 15 year employee of Spencer Gifts. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 8228. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe Boyle, daughters and son-in-law, Millie and Charles Wiedemer of Morgan Hill, CA; Pat Bates of Marmora; sons and daughter-in-law, Joe and Karen Fromal of Chase City, Harry Fromal of Mays Landing; sister, Irene Creshine of Wallingford, PA; grandson, Joe Fromal and his wife, Thora of NJ; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; niece, Pam Anderson of CA. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Burris officiating. Interment was in Woodland cemetery. Memorials may be made to CMH Hospice, 300 East Ferrell St., South Hill, VA 23970.

HAND, ALICE S., (SPITKO) 82 - of Cold Spring, died Sunday at her home. Mrs. Hand was born in Philadelphia, PA. She has been a resident here for 60 years.
She was a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Hand retired as a Charge Nurse in Maternity from Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1986 after working there for 20 years.
She was a graduate of Presbyterian Hospital-School of Nursing in 1932.
She was a co-owner of the former Brent's Restaurant, in Cold Spring.
She was an avid gardener.
Mrs. Hand is survived by: one daughter, Susanne Rozner, of Redding, CA; two sons, Brenton Hand, Jr. of North Cape May and Paul Hand, of Valencia, CA; 11 grandchildren, six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Sudak-Danaher Funeral Home, 815 Washington St, Cape May. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow in Cold Spring Presbyterian cemetery, Lower Township.
Mrs. Hand loved flowers. The family has also offered that donations may be made in her memory to: Holy Redeemer Hospice, 1801 Route 9 No., Swainton, NJ 08210; or to The Alzheimers Association, Suite 7 - Greentree Commons, 11000 Lincoln Dr. West, Marlton, NJ 08053-3431.

WALSH, JOHN JAMES, 23 - of Atlantic City, a special person, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, in the company of his parents.
Born in Atlantic City, John was a graduate of Egg Harbor Township High School and earned a Diploma from the Thompson Culinary Cooking and Catering School, having specialized in catering and gourmet cooking.
John had many interests; he was the author of a cooking book entitled "Cooking Therapy" and had a dream of opening a restaurant called "The Global Gourmet". He had been featured in the publication from the Disabilities Resource Center as a Child of the Year an had participated in Special Needs Fishing Tournaments. He had worked at the Sand Castle Stadium from the time it first opened and loved to be around people. John simply enjoyed life and all that life had to offer. The greater the challenge, the more he enjoyed the activity. He was truly an inspiration to all who crossed his path and worked hard for the Cerebral Palsy Organization.
John is survived by his parents, Jim and Sabina Walsh of Atlantic City; sisters, Elaine Walsh of Margate, Caroline Walsh of Atlantic City, and Sabina Walsh of Margate; nieces and nephews, Tara, Theresa and John Loughney, Shannon Walsh, Alexa Rinaldo, Erica Walsh, Jack, Rachel and Bridget Mignone; grandmothers Mary Laigaie and Helen Mills; many special aunts and uncles and many, many friends, all of whom he touched in a special way.
The Funeral Mass for John Walsh will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2003, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 2651 Atlantic Avenue. Friends may call from 9 a.m. at the Church. Entombment will be in Holy Cross cemetery Mausoleum, Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated, in John's memory to: The John Walsh Fund c/o Sister Grace Nolan, 9 North Georgia Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. COPPLE, ANNA MAE 81 - of Atlantic City, died Friday, December 19, 2003 at the Atlantic City Medical Center City Division following a lengthy illness.
Born in Atlantic City and a lifetime resident, Mrs. Copple had retired from the Atlantic City School System having served as an employee in the Cafeteria program. Mrs. Copple enjoyed life, her family and friends. She spent many, many summer hours on the beach with those friends and her children and her children's' children. She was an avid reader, always with a book in hand and enjoyed traveling with her husband. She had resided in her present home for over 50 years.
Mrs. Copple is predeceased by her parents George and Florence Gladney Conover. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William Paul Copple, 3 daughters; Joanne Beebe and husband Dennis of Egg Harbor Township, Susan Malin and husband Cliff of Somers Point and Barbara Coleman and husband Bill of Pleasantville, sons Paul Richard Copple of Galloway Township and John Copple of Atlantic City. Also surviving her are 8 grandchildren; Kelly Isenberg, Dan Coan, Sean Coan, Jason Freas, Jessica Copple, Jill Copple, John Paul Copple and Nina Coleman. 4 great-grandchildren; Grace and Tommy Isenberg and Kassidy and Megan Coan, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Copple will be 11 AM Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at the GORMLEY FUNERAL HOME LLC, 2706 Atlantic City. Friends may call from 10 AM at the funeral home. HAINES, ANNA, M. 88 - of Galloway Township, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2003.
She was born in Philadelphia and has lived here for many years. She, along with her late husband Pete, operated a farm in Galloway. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. During the 1950's, she drove the school bus for Egg Harbor High School. Mrs. Haines was a long time member of the Cologne Grange. She is survived by her son, Tom Haines of Marlton. Also surviving are many neighbors and friends. A Viewing will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2003 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor city (609-965-0357). A Mass will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at Church of Assumption, 276 W. White Horse Pike, Pomona. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery, Hurville. Memorial may be made to American Heart Association, 600 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106.

MANNIX, MARION V. 77 - of West Creek, Eagleswood Village. passed away Saturday Dec. 20, 2003 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael Halvorsen in Little in Little Egg Harbor. Born in New York, NY. She resided in Atlantic Highlands for many years before moving to West Creek in 1985, she retired from Diocese of Trenton, having worked in St. Agnes Grammer School, Atlantic Highland and also worked at Seacrest Village Nursing Home, Little Egg Harbor.
Besides her daughter and son-in-law, she is survived by a son Edward, daughter-in-law Cathy Mannix of Atlantic Highlands, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister Maureen Pitman & husband Robert, and sister in law Dolores Ryan. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1993 and sister Eleanor.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday 10:30am at The Chapel of the NJ Veteran cemetery, Arneytown, followed by the interment. Those wishing to go may meet at 9am Wednesday at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Rd., Little Egg Harbor, NJ. 08087

McALLISTER, JAMES E. 69 - of Longport, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 19, 2003 at Shore Memorial Hospital.
Mr. McAllister was President of McAllister The Service Company, and formerly managed the Steeplechase and Central Piers in Atlantic City, as well as the Boardwalk Trams. He was a member of the Atlantic County Game Preserve since 1960 and served on the Board of the Atlantic City Medical Center and was a Veteran of the US Army. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, kayaking, bodysurfing and longboarding.
He is survived by his wife Jeannette (nee Duffy), a son James (Jessica) of Margate, a daughter Kelly (Pat) Agnellini of Longport, brothers George of Longport and Donald of Moorestown and a grandson Pat. He is predeceased by his brother Robert.
A Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday at St. James Church, Newport and Atlantic Ave., Ventnor. Burial is private and there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the ICU unit of Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, The House of Charity, Diocese of Camden, 631 Market St., Camden, NJ 08102 or to the National Rifle Association, 1250 Waplesmill Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.

ZAWID, JACK (YANKIE ZAWIDOWITZ), 90 - of Atlantic City, died peacefully in his sleep on December 21, 2003. He was a holocaust survivor and an American patriot. Born in Poland in 1913, he lived through World War I. His law school education was cut short by World War II. After being liberated in 1944, he married a fellow survivor, Rose Spiegel, his wife of 60 years. With his wife, two small children and father-in-law, Solomon Spiegel, he immigrated to Baltimore in 1948, moved to New York City in 1951, then to Detroit in 1954 where the family operated a poultry farm. In 1964, Mr. Zawid moved his family to Atlantic City where he and Rose established Zawid's Kosher Catering. The catering business, in operation to this day, has been written up numerous times in nationally recognized media such as the New York Times. Jack Zawid was a co-founder of the Holocaust survivors section of Rodef Sholom cemetery and was active in Jewish organizations his entire life. He returned to Europe only once to testify before a war crimes tribunal. Recently Jack was honored by Stockton College which established an undergraduate scholarship fund in his name for students interested in Holocaust and Genocide studies. Jack Zawid is survived by his wife Rose; sister Hedva Zweig of Tel Aviv, Israel; son Dr. Joseph Zawid and daughter-in-law Dr. Carol Zawid of Margate; daughter Dr. Libby Goodman of Merion Station, PA; grandchildren, Jennifer Hickey and husband Peter of Miami, FL, Steven Zawid, Brian Zawid, Eric Zawid, David Rob Goodman and great-grandchildren, Leah Francis Hickey and Noah Francis Hickey. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at 11am at Beth El Synagogue, 500 N. Jerome Ave. in Margate. Interment to follow in the Holocaust survivors section of Rodef Sholom cemetery in Cardiff. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Holocaust Scholarship Fund in Jack Zawid's name, Richard Stockton College, Jimmie Leeds Rd., Pomona, NJ 08240-0195. Shiva will be observed at the family residence. Arr. Roth-Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City.

MILNER, RUTH WOLFENSON (nee Shulman) 77 - died on December 21, 2003. She was a bookkeeper and resided in Atlantic City. She was the wife of the late Ed Milner, mother of Louis (Marcy) Wolfenson, Andrea (Joseph) Jones and Jeffrey (Jennie) Wolfenson, and sister of Shirley (Sindey) Braverman and Murray (Jane) Shulman. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael-Sacks, 6410 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA. with interment at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Trevose, PA. Contributions may be made to Caring Inc., PO Box 964, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.

BEST, JOHN R. III, 70 - of Northfield, formerly of Ventnor, died Monday December 22, 2003.
He is survived by his wife Trish, two sons, John R. Best IV, Mark S., two daughters, Kathleen and Mary Lou Best, two sisters, Nadine Thiebault and Mary Lou Wilson-Birsner and nine grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood. Further viewing will take place Saturday 9am at St. Bernadette's Church, Northfield, followed by Funeral Mass at 10 am. Burial is private.

GREENBERG, MILDRED - of Linwood, passed away on December 22, 2003. Born in Atlantic City. she was a graduate of Atlantic City High School and has lived in Linwood for several years. She is survived by her loving and devoted sister, Celia Greenberg, whom she loved and cared for deeply. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. at Rodef Sholom cemetery in Cardiff. Arrangements by Roth-Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City.

VASSALLO, ROSE (nee Cairone) 86 - of Malaga section of Franklin Township, passed away on Sunday morning. Mrs. Vassallo was born in Philadelphia and was a lifelong Malaga resident. She was the daughter of the late Frank & Mary Grace DiMatteo Cairone and the wife of the late Romualdo "Harry" Vassallo who died in 1999. She was predeceased by a sister, Jennie Francesco.
Before retiring, Mrs. Vassallo was a co-owner & operator along with her late husband of R.H. Vassallo Co. in Malaga, which sold & services Dodge Trucks & Massey-Ferguson Tractors. She was a member of the St. Mary's R.C. Church of Malaga & the Ladies Auxiliary of the Malaga Vol. Fire Co. She enjoyed her family, cooking & gardening.
She is survived by: one son & daughter-in-law, Ronald & Diane Vassallo, Malaga; one daughter & son-in-law, Jean & Michael Snyder, Ashton, MD; nine grandchildren & six great grandchildren; three brothers, Matthew, Louis & Joseph Cairone, all of Malaga; two sisters, Violet Coia of Vineland and Angelina Zeuner of Malaga.
Her funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the St. Mary's RC Church, Malaga, with burial to follow in the Sacred Heart cemetery, Vineland. Relatives & friends will be received on Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. & again in Wednesday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland.
