PERRY, NATHANIEL HORACE "NAT" "NATTIE BOY", 71, of Detroit, Michigan, died Thursday May 30, 2002 in Detroit. Born in Atlantic City to the late Evelyn and Nathaniel Perry, he attended the local schools and worked here until joining the Army in 1950.
After receiving his honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant, he resided and worked in New York City for more than 40 years. He retired from Bell Atlantic (now Verizon).
Surviving are: three aunts, Gladys O. Perry, Lorraine Perry and Grace Perry, all of Atlantic City; his cousins, Carol Ann Ford, with whom he lived, Randolph O. Perry, Ph.D. of Upper Marlboro, MD, Kathleen N. Strickland of Mays Landing, Nathaniel D. Perry of Norfolk, VA, Maurice B. Perry of Pleasantville, Crystal R. Robinson of Mt. Holly, Harold Perry of Atlantic City, Tyrone Perry of Connecticut, Dr. Leona Edwards of Washington, DC, Clarence Perry of Landover, MD, the Robert Spraggins family, as well as his dog and "best friend", Superior, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in the Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Blvd, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 11a.m. Burial will be in Atlantic City cemetery, Pleasantville.

BROWN, SYLVESTER CHARLES, 78, of Hammonton, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2002 at William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton. Born in Great Valley, NY, Charles voluntarily joined the Air Force in 1943, serving in the 376 Bomber Squadron Group 15 in the Eto Theater. Captured in Yugoslavia, he spent the next 13 months in a Bulgarian prison camp. After he was liberated in 1944, he served at Lowry Field, Denver, CO, where he met and, in 1945, married his "Baby" Josephine Mostaccio, also serving in the Women's Army Corps. After their discharge from service, they moved to Hammonton where Josephine had grown up, for a short time they moved to Pleasantville, where they ran a business and from 1948 made Hammonton their home. In 1949, their son, Gary Charles was born. In 1950, Charles was called back to service, this time as an Intelligence Officer in Korea, Honorably Discharged in 1955. Medals received are the Purple Heart, Distinguished Service Medal, Air Medal, POW Medal, WWII Victory Medal and several ribbons. Charles retired from the Atlantic County Sheriff's Office in 1980. He was a generous, kind gentleman, whose memberships included the Masons Scottish Rite, Shriners, Ex-American POW's, Masonic Lodge and Disabled American Veterans. Charles is survived by his loving family, wife of almost 57 years, Josephine, son, Gary and his wife Catherine and grandsons, Grant and Kyle Holway, his sisters, Marion Morgan of Cuba, NY, Margaret Duvall of Rushford, NY, Myrna DeSarno of Waterford, NY, Maureen and her husband Francis Green of Rushford, NY, his brother, Walter and his wife Joyce Brown of Franklinton, LA, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, 129 Park Ave., Hammonton. Viewing Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. with Masonic Services at 8:00 p.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third St., Hammonton. Burial will be in Arlington National cemetery, VA. The family requests donations to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Rd., Hammonton, NJ 08037 or The Foundation of William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital, PO Box 437, Hammonton, or St. Martin de Porres Church.

HILTWINE, LILLIAN M. (BELL), 80, of Hammonton, died Monday, June 3, 2002 at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she moved to Hammonton in 1955. She was a secretary for Gordon G. Hiltwine Inc. for 45 years.
Wife of the late Gordon G. Hiltwine. Surviving are two sons: Joseph and his wife Ginny, and Kenneth of Hammonton. Loving grandmother of Timmy, Joe, James. Dear aunt of Marie and Charles Gazzara, Judith and Tim Kitchung, William and Janet Brennan, Frank and Marion Brennan.

TRAN, THANH N., 52, of Atlantic City, died Monday, June 3, 2002 at the City Division of the Atlantic City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born in Viet Nam, Mr. Tran had been an Atlantic City resident since 1981. He had been employed as a cook with the Sands Hotel/Casino and was a member of Local 54. He leaves behind his wife Jenny May Ha and many other family members and close friends.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 and again on Wednesday, June 12, 2002 from 9 a.m. at the Gormley Funeral Home, 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City. Services will be held Wednesday morning.

RACO, JOSEPH N., 73, of Atlantic City, died Monday morning, June 17, 2002 at the Mainland Division of the Atlantic City Medical Center. Complete funeral arrangements will appear in the Wednesday edition of The Press. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home, 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City.

VANAMAN, EILEEN M., 41, of New Gretna, died on June 23, 2002 at the Atlantic City Medical Center, Pomona. Born in Atlantic City, she lived in Pleasantville, before moving to New Gretna 22 years ago. She was a bartender for the Seaview Marriott in Absecon.
She is survived by her husband John; four daughters, Crystal Sherba of Warrington, PA, Melissa Lynn, Erica Evelyn and Taylor Paige Vanaman, all of New Gretna; two grandchildren, Peter Angelo and Angelina Rose Sherba; mother and father, John and Delores MacFarlin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John Sr. and Edith Vanaman; sister-in-law, Loretta Lynn Hinkley; and niece and nephew, Heather Lynn and David Hinkley.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by internment at Miller cemetery, New Gretna. Viewing hours are on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Maxwell Funeral Home, Mathistown Road. Little Egg Harbor.

CONNOLLY, JOYCE Y. , of Linwood, on February 8, 2002 at the Atlantic City Mainland Medical Center. For forty-nine years beloved wife of Donald W., she was the devoted mother of Alexander L., dear grandmother of Erin M. and Dalton H., sister of George Yaney and loving aunt and great-aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom survive.
Joyce was born in Newark, Ohio and lived, studied and worked in northern New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts before becoming an area resident in 1967. She was an alumna of Bethany College in West Virginia and attended Fordham University Graduate School. She worked in clinical psychology, took part in the development of the worlds first commercial mini-computer, created a loving home, supported many charities, and did years of unrecognized volunteer social service work. In accordance with her own wishes, services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Kanab, Utah 84741-5001.

SKINNER, KATHRYN, 'Patsy', (nee: Kerrigan), 78, of Laureldale, Hamilton Twp., passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at her home. She was born in Laureldale and was a lifelong resident. She worked at Wheaton in Mays Landing, and formerly worked at Sweetwater Casino and Egg Harbor Diner.
Pat is survived by her children: Cathie Skinner of Laureldale, Sue Skinner of Milmay, Lorraine Skinner of Vero Beach, Fl., and Charles "Skip" Skinner and his wife, Pam of Laureldale, her grandchildren: Neil and Susan Skinner, Malissa Skinner, Doug Skinner, Matt Skinner, and Thomas Herold; her great grandchild: Rachael Skinner; her brother: Jim Kerrigan and his wife, Bonnie of Laureldale; sister: Frances Foell and her husband, Rudy of Cologne; also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and many dear friends.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m., and on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 from 10:00 to 11:00a.m. at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City (609-965-0357), where her Funeral Service will be at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Egg Harbor cemetery.

MARTIN, ELIZABETH "BETTY", 86, passed away at the Court House Convalescent Center on Sunday, February 3, 2002. She was born in Greenwich, but had lived most of her life in Wildwood. She was predeceased by her husband, Manny (Rocco) Martin.
Known as "Aunt Betty" by her many acquaintances from Virginia to Massachusetts, she had been employed in her most recent years by the Lobster House in Cape May and the City of Wildwood.
She is survived by her brother, Clement Sutton of Greenwich and her sister, Verna Desjardins of Wildwood and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held in Greenwich Baptist cemetery on Thursday, February 7 at 11 AM.
Arrangements are by the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home of N. Wildwood.

McCULLY, DOROTHY C., 98, of the Mayville section of Middle Township, died Friday in the Eastern Shore Nursing Home, Swainton.
Mrs. McCully was born in New York City, lived in Freeport, Long Island for 58 years, and retired to Cape May Court House in 1968.
She was a retired school teacher, teaching for over 30 years in the Freeport, NY School District. She holds both a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree in Education from Columbia University, New York.
Mrs. McCully is a member of the New York State Retired Educators Association, and the Cape May County Retired Educators Association.
She was a former member of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, Cold Spring.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, in Cape May County.
She was a former Director of water sports at several private camps in Vermont and New Hampshire.
During WWII, she drove staff cars for the Army at Mitchell Field, NY, and was a Red Cross volunteer.
She was a former Defensive Driving instructor, was a member of the Victorian Society of America; the Cape May County Historical and Genealogical Society; and a former member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 82, Cape May.
She traveled extensively, both foreign and in the United States.
She held an Advanced Boat Pilot license, and piloted her own boat, the "Snow Boy", named after her favorite Samoyed dog.
Mrs. McCully was predeceased by her husband Walter E. McCully.
Viewing and funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 PM in the Sudak-Danaher Funeral Home, 915 Washington St., Cape May. Burial will be in Cold Spring cemetery, Lower Township.

Denice, Michael A.
Denice, Michael A., - of Cape May Court House passed away on September 2, 2011. Born in East Orange to Angelo and Geraldine (formerly Malanga) Denice, he was raised in Bloomfield and moved to the area after graduating from Glassboro College in 1976. He taught music at Arthur Rann Elementary School in Galloway where he touched so many student's lives. He also worked at the Claridge Casino for 20 years. He performed with various local bands and shared his talent with the members of the United Methodist Church of Absecon.
Michael is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kathleen (formerly Carroll); his brother Nick and his wife Joanne; as well as cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Absecon, 100 Pitney Road, Absecon, NJ 08201. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Donations may be made in Michael's name to the charity of your choice.

Johnson, Jean Marie
Jean Marie Johnson, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011 at her home. She was born in Vineland to the late Adolph and Mary (Yarrish) Filachek and was a lifetime resident of this area. She was a member of St. Casimir's Church. She liked going to the Borgata. Her biggest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband, Edward; her son, Brian Johnson; her daughter and son in law, Karen and Joe Moyer; her sisters, Dorothy (George) Spalding and Kathy Filachek; her sister in law, Edie Filachek; her grandchildren, Jordan and Jonathan; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Filachek.
Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir's Church, 304 Clay Street, Woodbine, where visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be in Seaside cemetery, Palermo. Memorial donations may be made for Cancer Treatment Centers of America through The Gateway for Cancer Research, 1336 Basswood Rd., Schaumburg, IL 60173.
