Schwartz, Frances D.

Schwartz, Frances D. - born November 8, 1925 passed away January 21, 2011 at her home. Formerly of South Philadelphia, she resided in North Wildwood with her loving husband of 68 years, Buddy (deceased). She was the amazing mother of Eileen Simone (John) of Absecon, the late John Schwartz (Norma), Frances Kircher (Paul) of Gibbstown, Robert (Valerie) of Woodbury, Danny of Reno, NV, and Brian of North Wildwood. Also mourning the loss of their Mom Mom are her 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is fondly remembered by her sisters Irene Hankins and Evelyn Lampe of Philadelphia as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Regan, Anne

Regan, Anne - 88, of North Cape May, passed away on January 20, 2011. She was a longtime resident of Cape May County. In her early years she was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader. Very active in her church, she started the JOY Program at the First United Methodist Church in Wildwood Crest. She was an advocate for the disabled and started the Cape May County Chapter S.W.I.M. Program, about to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Regan, Jr. and a loving daughter Joanne Shifflet. She is survived by a son, Raymond J. Regan, Jr., his wife Patricia Regan, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Graveside services at Veteran's cemetery will be private at a later date.

LaRue, Leo E.
Navy

LEO E. LaRUE, 85, OF Palermo, NJ, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at his home. He was born in Kentucky and was an area resident for thirty two years. He was retired from the Avalon Sunoco after twenty five years of service. He served in the US Navy during World War II and the Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict and was awarded five Purple Hearts and a Silver Star.

He is survived by a daughter, Meredith A. Pascarella and a son, Marshall Hagy; three grandchildren: Justin LaRue, Jason Brendle and Matthew Pascarella; two great grandchildren: Chloe LaRue and Dennis Barnes and his best friend and companion, Clara Thraen.

Services and interment are private. Memorials may be made to the DAV, 1010 Bayshore Road, Del Haven, NJ 08251.

James, Kathleen A.

Kathleen A. James, 62, of the Reeds Beach section of Cape May Court House, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at her home. Born in Neptune, NJ, with the exception of her early childhood, she was a lifelong resident of Cape May County.

Kathy was a 1966 graduate of Middle Township High School and a 1968 graduate of Brandywine Junior College in Wilmington, Delaware. Kathy was retired after twenty five years with the County of Cape May Health Department.

Kathy was an avid gardener and loved the beach and traveling. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Cape May Court House.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard; her sons Erik and Craig (Megan); and grandchildren Alexa and Boden. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret (Peg) Nevins and was preceded in death by her father William (Bill) Nevins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, January 24 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. with a service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at the Union cemetery, South Dennis.

Memorial donations may be made for Alzheimer's Research in Kathy's memory to: Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and mailed to: Penn Memory Center, (Attn: Faye Silag), 3615 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

McManus, Dolores Ann
Elks Club

McManus, Dolores Ann, 72, of Cape May Court House passed away Monday, January 17, 2011. Born in Philadelphia to Francis and Catherine Casey. She moved to the area in December of 1996 and most recently worked at Morey's Pier in Wildwood. She was a member of the Emerald Society as well as the Order of Elks and Moose. She was a member of Our Lady of The Angels Church in Cape May Court House.

Dolores is survived by her husband Charles, her son Michael (Batise), brother Francis Casey, and sister El DeBarth. She is also survived by her grandchildren Claudia and Ian. She was predeceased by her daughter Noreen in 1973.

A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of The Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.

Cornagie, Frank S.
Navy

Frank S. Cornagie, 79, of Cape May Court House, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Janet S. (nee Ferguson) and will be sadly missed by his sister Dorothy; his Goddaughter Denise L. Cinkutis; brother in law Jack; sisters in law Doris and Laura; and eight nieces and eight nephews plus 42 grand nieces and nephews.

He was a high school graduate of Northeast Public School of Philadelphia, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years in the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin. He worked for Bell of Pennsylvania for 33 years. After his retirement in April of 1987, he moved to Cape May Court House in August 1988. He then worked for Thomas Alvardo of Winterwood Christmas Store on Route 9 in Rio Grande until 1995. He loved fishing and the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ, 08691 or to your favorite charity.

Townsend, Edith "Chickie" Lillian

TOWNSEND, EDITH "CHICKIE" LILLIAN , age 59, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Friday, January 14, 2010. She was born in Southern New Jersey the daughter of the late Oscar and Mary Bushay Townsend.

She is survived by a sister: Mary Diana Tozer Hayes and a brother, Robert A. (wife, Virginia), Kier and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Seaside cemetery, Palermo, NJ.

Nagel, Robert A.

Robert A. Nagel, 84, of Avalon Manor, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in London, England to the late Robert and Catherine (Bullpit) Nagel, he moved here 24 years ago from Upper Marlboro, MD. A Navy Veteran of World War II, he was employed as a manager at Sears in Wildwood. He was a 32nd degree Mason in Cannon Lodge #104 in South Seaville. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Avalon Manor Association. He helped many people as the neighborhood handyman.

Mr. Nagel is survived by his wife, Nora (O'Shea) Nagel; his children, Robert E. Nagel, Deborah Lafferty, and Rick Nagel; his nieces and nephews, Kathryn Enick, Steven Taylor, Robert "Skip"Taylor, Brian (Sylvia) O'Shea of the United Kingdom, and Douglas (Joan) MaCleod of Virginia; his seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Masonic Service and Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Free and Accepted Masons, Washington Lodge #59, One North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Williams, Nancy (Lana) A.

Nancy A. (Lana) Williams, 60, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at home after a brief illness.

Lana was a licensed professional counselor and was a highly respected private practitioner in Cape May Court House. She was a former employee of Cape May County Human Services, including Cape Counseling, Cape Regional Medical Center and Bridgeton Hospital. She was a member of the Cape May County Professional Advisory Committee and served on a variety of advisory boards. Lana was incredibly proud of her many accomplishments and she contributed greatly to each and every professional undertaking.

Lana is predeceased by her mother, Nancy C. Gardiner. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy R. Hagan Matteucci (Joseph), Lorie L. Hagan, and Jacqueline J. Williams; two sisters, Lynn Britton (Philip) and Bobbi Jo Hartung (John); nephews and nieces, Kane Britton, Jessalyn Britton, and Shaun Strain (Kara); father, Thomas S. Gardiner; and grandchildren, Eric and Nicholas Matteucci.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, January 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Lana's memory. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please contribute memorial donations to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 West Evergreen Avenue, Suite 303, Chicago, IL 60642.

Emmons, Marion E.

Marion E. Emmons, 69, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Medford, MA to the late Arthur and Lillian (McDermott) Emmons, she moved here ten years ago. She was very gifted at knitting, crocheting, and quilting and won ribbons for her crafts. She was a member of the South Jersey Stitchers and the Middle Township Senior Citizen Friday Quilt Club. She was a hairdresser at Eddie’s Salon in Allston, MA.

Miss Emmons is survived by her sister, Elaine F. Pelosi of Cape May Court House; her nieces and nephews, Serena (Anthony) Bianchino of Steelmantown, Lucia (Richard) Ramirez of Del Haven, Toni Turnbull of Cape May Court House, Jean (Don) Nagle of Cape May Court House, Marcia (Sam) Noonan-Sauer of Cape May Court House, Paul Pelosi of Minnnesota, Ellen (Jeff) Yelland of Massachusetts, Arthur (Ann) Edwards of Alaska, Robert (Bonnie) Edwards of Massachusetts, Marion (Judd) Lippincott of Long Beach Island, NJ, and Alan (Regina) Edwards of Egg Harbor Township; and many great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her nephew, Joseph Anthony Pelosi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Baptist cemetery, Ocean View. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.

Jensen, Robert H.

JENSEN, ROBERT H., age 86, of Avalon, NJ, died on Monday, January 10, 2011, at the Ocean View Center, Ocean View, NJ. A resident of Avalon for sixty years, he was born in Fairview, Camden County, NJ, the son of the late Thomas and Maria (Osmundsen) Jensen, Sr.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy for twenty five years which included serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Avalon Police Department after fifteen years of service. He was active in various veterans organizations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, Jr. and William.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ where a viewng will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery. Memorials may be made to Friends In Need, PO Box 5, Avalon, NJ 08202.

Sims, Marie Dolores

Marie Dolores Sims, 75, of Erma, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011 at her home. Born in Philadelphia to the late Walter and Marie (Crooker) Urmson, she moved to Villas in 1972 from Essington, PA. She was a member of St. John of God Church and enjoyed playing Bingo.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her daughter, Janet Sims; her son, Joseph Sims, Jr.; her brother, Charles O'Donnell; and three grandchildren, Steffen Rossetti, Matthew Peabody, and Lauren Peabody. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Sims, Sr. on January 26, 2010.

Funeral mass will be said on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Parish, St. John of God Church, 680 Town Bank Road, North Cape May, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Cold Spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Rio Grande Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 406, Rio Grande, NJ 08242.

Van Ness, Frances Corson

Van Ness, Frances Corson, 96 of Stone Harbor, New Jersey died peacefully at her home on January 7, 2011. Born in Cape May Court House in 1914, her last thirty years have been spent at beloved beach homes in Stone Harbor, New Jersey and Delray Beach, Florida.

Fran was predeceased by her father Charles O. Corson, her mother Marie S. Corson, and her husband of sixty five years F.William Van Ness.

Fran graduated from Middle Township High School and The College of New Jersey (Trenton State College.) She became a physical education teacher and taught for many years at Bordentown High School in Bordentown, New Jersey and Riverside High School in Riverside, New Jersey.

Fran was a lovely and caring woman whose family always came first. She loved entertaining and cooking for family and friends at her beach house. Fran adored the beach and swimming in the ocean. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Cape May Court House and the Dobbins Memorial Methodist Church in Delanco, New Jersey. She was also a member of the Stone Harbor Garden Club, The Civic Association of Stone Harbor, and the Cape May County Historical Society.

She will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law Fred and Claire Van Ness of Middlesex, New Jersey; and by her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Bill Michalsky of Cape May Court House, New Jersey; by her grandchildren Jeff and Cheryl Van Ness of Dunellen, New Jersey, Craig and Pam Van Ness of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, Gretchen Ryan of Cape May Court House, New Jersey, and Katie and Scott Heino of Medford, New Jersey and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on January 14, 2011 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church of Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
