Doris M. Mathis, 93, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Crest Haven Nursing Home. She was born in Philadelphia and moved here in 1945. She was Deputy Surrogate for Cape May County for 32 years.

Doris is survived by her brother in law, Carl Stotz; her nephews, Donald Stotz and Kirk (Peggy) Mathis; one great nephew; and two great nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley and her sister, Ruth Stotz.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Cape May Court House.

Moya, Jose M.

Moya, Jose M., 37, of Villas passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010. He was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and later moved to the area and worked at local restaurants.

He is survived by his mother, Norma Ramos and his siblings: Marcial, Javier, Joel, Ivan, Yahaira, Jarilyn, and Diana Morales and Gabriel Gonzalez.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2900 Pacific Ave., Wildwood, NJ 08260.

Davis, Charles Terry

Charles "Terry" Davis, 73, of Dennis Township, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Camden to the late Joseph and Anna (Magee) Davis, he moved to Cape May County when he was eight years old. He was formerly employed at Trump Plaza and Wheaton Glass. He loved sports and horses, especially the Phillies and harness racing. A member of the United States Trotting Association, he owned horses that raced at Freehold. He cared for his favorite pet dog Barkley to the end.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Macie (Pippin) Davis; his daughters, Robin Burgess and Tammy Krouse; his sister, Gladys Marriner; his two grandchildren, Amanda Krouse and Renae Burgess; his two great grandchildren, Laynie Krouse and Malaki Hannah; five nieces; six nephews; and his two best friends, Glenn Bingham and John Marks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Robert Davis, and his nephews, Kenneth and Steven Marriner.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Cold Spring Presbyterian cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Retirement Home for Horses, Inc., P.O. Brooks, Geneva R.

Geneva R. Satterfield Brooks was called home to eternal rest on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at her home.

Geneva was born on October 21, 1932 in Hillsborough, NC to the late Bennie and Magnolia Satterfield. She was the fifth born of seven children. Three siblings preceded her in death John, Mable, and Curtis. She was also preceded in death by her husband Edward Brooks.

Geneva graduated from Central High School in Hillsborough, NC in 1951. She came to Wildwood, NJ in her early twenties to seek employment. She returned to North Carolina in 1977. In 1986 she relocated back to Wildwood, NJ and made it her home. Geneva was lastly employed at Stokes/Wildwood Linen until she retired in 2002.

She leaves to mourn and share fond memories: her children: Victor (Irma) Hurst of Garner, NC, O'Neil (Rita) Brooks of Wildwood, NJ, Richmond (Debra) Brooks of Durham, NC, Bridgette Brooks of Hillsborough, NC and Dana Fields of Wildwood, NJ; her grandchildren: Seneca, Necheala, Dwan, Dwayne, Marcus, Jessica, Brittany, Tahitia, Gerri, Imani, Denajae and Ahkeem; her great grandchildren: Catherine, Jordan, Naquila, Angelique, Gabryelle, Cassandra, Sheltina, Seneca Jr. and Jaiden; her sisters: Mozelle Chavious of Hillsborough, NC and Thelma Mayo of Hillsborough, NC; her brother: Harry (Marcine) Satterfield of Hillsborough, NC; special nieces: Alice, Helen, Catherine, and Barbara from North Carolina; special cousin: Pocahontas of Cape May Court House, NJ; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Geneva was a strong woman with a big heart. She touched many lives with her kindness. She loved to chat and tell stories over a good cup of coffee. She loved her family unconditionally and gave all she could. Mom Geneva, you will be missed. We love you.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Household of Ruth cemetery, Whitesboro. Layton, Fred D.
Navy

Layton, Fred D., 91, of Green Creek passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010. He was born in Belleplain to Herchel and Ada (formerly Shaw) Layton. After serving in the U.S. Navy he later worked for Gerald A. Barrett & Sons Paving and was a Middle Township police officer. He loved hunting and fishing and was a member of American Legion Post #198 in Cape May Court House. He was predeceased by his son Herchel.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy (formerly Garrison); son, Fred (Sandy) Layton Jr. of Goshen, daughter Sharon (Bill) Foster (Arkansas), daughter Georgeann (Joe) Pettit of Belleplain; grandchildren Jimmie Layton, Terry Montgomery, Tim Day, Paul Pettit, David Howell, and Beth Hassay; and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 2:30 pm at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 1:30 p.m. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Children's Leukemia Foundation, 7316 Avenue U, Brooklyn, NY 11234.

Davis, Jean

Jean Davis, age 59, of Cape May Court House, died on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at her home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to Loretta (nee Passarella) Reidenger and the late George Reidenger, she was a cashier at Super Fresh in North Wildwood and Walmart in Rio Grande. Formerly of North Wildwood she was known to all her friends as the Cat Lady of North Wildwood.

She is survived by her mother Loretta Reidenger of Cape May Court House, her daughter Lori Lee of Edgewater, FL, her sister Marie Wilson of Palm City, FL and her grandson Todd Arrington.

Funeral service 9:30 am, Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ where relatives and friends may call after 9:00 am. Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Yeadon, PA. In lieu of flowers donations to Animal Welfare Society of Cape May County, Inc., 40 Rte. 47 South, Dias Creek, NJ 08210.

Spaulding, Loretta M.

Spaulding, Loretta M., 70, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010. Born in Wildwood to John and Audralee (Thorpe) Smith, she was a member of Mount Olive Church. She was pre-deceased by her husband Millard and her son Thomas Anderson.

She is survived by her son, Derick Ironside; her brothers, Tyrone and Rev. John Smith; her sisters, Lucinda Mosby and Bernice Kane; and grandchildren: Quran, Latisha, Kevin, Anthony, Kayhaam, and Justice.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 12 noon at Mt. Olive Church, East Atlantic Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Olive cemetery.

DeFrangesco, Sr., Ralph A.
Army

Ralph A. DeFrangesco, Sr., age 82 years, of Woodbine, died on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. Born in Bridgeport, PA to the late Angelo DeFrangesco and Lena Lammondo he has lived here for the past five years.

Formerly of Cape May County and Florida, he was a truck driver for S. Coraluzzo Petroleum Transporters of Vineland, an Army Veteran of WWII, retired maintenance man with Howard Johnson Hotel & Suites, Orlando, FL, enjoyed Friday nights with his friends at the VFW Post in Belleplain and enjoyed cooking, gardening & spending endless hours with the love of his life, "Cookie," his beloved wife of sixty-three years.

He was preceded in death by his son John DeFrangesco in 2001. He is survived by his wife Anna, his son Ralph A., Jr. and his wife Donna DeFrangesco of Orlando, FL, three daughters; Theresa Yzzi of Noristown, Bernie and her husband Robert Wernik of Cape May, Barbara Bryan and Scott Cooley of Woodbine, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Memorial Service 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ where relatives and friends may call after 1:00 pm. Interment is private. Memorial donations to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6257, 556 Woodbine Ave., Woodbine, NJ 08270.

Keen, Richard Steven Girard
Navy

Keen, Richard Steven Girard, 86 - of South Dennis, formerly of Allentown, PA passed away May 27, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired truck driver for over 30 years and stock & foreign car racer; known as "Killer Keen." Richard was a US Navy veteran who served during World War II, aboard the USS Wasp CV 18 as a plane captain and the USS Sable. He was a lifetime member and past commander of VFW Post 5343, board member of the USS Wasp organization, and member of the American Legion. He loved traveling and spending time outdoors, he was also an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his loving wife Waneita R. (McNulty) of 64 years, son, Richard C. and his wife Denise, daughter, Gwenda L. Adams, son, Robert A. and his wife Cheryl, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Finken. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Marcincavaq and her husband Charles; grandchildren: Kelly, Tiffany, Anthony, Chris, Brian, Rachel, & Jacquelyn; and 6 great grandchildren.

His service of memory and love will be offered on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.

Reeves, James L.
Navy

Reeves, James L., 84, of Cape May Court House passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010. He was born in Philadelphia to Russell and Martha (formerly Jackaway) Reeves. Before he worked as a carpenter, he served during World War II for the U.S. Navy earning the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. He moved to the area in 1954 and was an avid hunter, gardener, and loved square and round dancing and was a member of South Jersey Dancers.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Ellen (formerly Farrell); his children, Linda Brooks, Dennis Reeves, Bonnie Reeves, and Gail Ebert; as well as grand and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Edwards, Wallace H.

Edwards, Wallace H., 86, of Woodbine passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Born in Philadelphia to William and Julia Edwards, he moved to the area after spending his childhood in Cambridge, MD. He retired from the Woodbine Developmental Center. Wallace loved spending time at the "U-Sell" and other flea markets. He loved his family gatherings, especially at holidays.

Wallace is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lottie (formerly Ennis); his children, Byron Hawkins (Florida), Joan Thompson (Cambridge, MD), Wallace Fisher (Milliville), Fayetta (David) Morse (Wilmington, DE), Delphine Morris (Salisbury, MD), Ramona Lawrence-Diaz (East Windsor), and Tara (John) Wheeler-Robinson (Woodbine); as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are services are private.

Jenkins, Elizabeth H.

Jenkins, Elizabeth "Betty" H., 85, of Cape May Court House passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Born in North Wildwood to Harold and Mary Thomas, she later moved to Philadelphia to work for the U.S. Defense Supply Agency before moving back to the area. She later worked at Morey's Pier in Wildwood for 16 years. She was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Green Creek Fire Company and was an avid bingo player. She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1987 and her son John in 1997.

She is survived by her children: Byron Richards of Cape May Court House, Elizabeth Aggar of Virginia, Mary Probst of Pennsylvania, Daniel Richards of New Jersey, William Jenkins of Cape May Court House, Tom Jenkins of Pennsylvania, Nancy Franco of Florida, and Paula Jenkins of Del Haven; her brothers Harold, Leroy, and George Thomas all of Cape May Court House. She is also survived by numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Cold Spring cemetery in Cold Spring. Donations may be made to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, Lockbox 1352, P.O. Box 8500, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352.

Pfeffer, Dr. Adam C.

Dr. Adam C. Pfeffer, age 62, of Stone Harbor, NJ, died on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at his home after a brief illness.

Dr. Pfeffer was born in Philadelphia, Pa. the son of the late Adam C. and Virginia (Roth) Pfeffer on June 11, 1947. He had lived in Medford Lakes prior to moving to Stone Harbor fourteen years ago.

He retired on March 1 as Superintendent of the Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District. He was a former Superintendent of the Collingswood and Lacey Township School Districts and had previously taught school in Cherry Hill.

He was a member of New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA); Atlantic County Association of School Administrators; University of Pennsylvania Coastal School Study Group; State Board of Examiners; Phi Delta Kappa; Educational Testing Service. He received the Applause Award in Education and recently was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from NJASA. In a recent resolution, the Greater Egg Harbor Regional Board of Education honored Dr. Pfeffer by naming the new auditorium at the Cedar Creek High School in Egg Harbor City, the Dr. Adam C. Pfeffer Performing Arts Center.

He truly enjoyed his many friends, colleagues, his sons and granddaughters as well as bicycling, gardening, reading, the arts and travel in his spare time.

Dr. Pfeffer is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy MacCarrigan Pfeffer; two sons: Adam Keith of Brooklyn, NY and Justin C. and his wife, Courtney, and two granddaughters: Ivy and Sarah of Wilmington, NC; his siblings: Candace V. Stiklorius of Philadelphia, Pa.; Jeffrey Pfeffer of Pine Hill, NJ and Debra Pulcinella of Sarasota, FL; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5 at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ, where relatives and friends may visit 9:30am to 11:30am with memorial service to follow. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Ralph W. Martin Foundation, 1824 Dr. Dennis Foreman Dr, Mays Landing, NJ 08330 c/o Tom Grossi for the creation of a scholarship in Dr. Pfeffer's honor.
