Norman Krapf
Residence: Vineland, NJ

November 16, 1911 - February 7, 2008

Norman E. Krapf, 96, of Vineland, NJ passed away
on Thursday afternoon in the Rainbow Center after
being in failing health the past several months.
Mr. Krapf was born and raised in W. Hazelton, PA
where he was a 1928 graduate of W. Hazelton High
School. After graduation he attended Penn State
and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Education in
1936. He later attended and graduated with his
masters degree from Bucknell University in 1941.
Mr. Krapf started his teaching career at the W.
Hazelton High School where he was employed for 6
years. He then taught at the Salem High School
for 3 years, prior to his 26 year career with the
Vineland Board of Education. He was a chemistry &
physics teacher at Vineland High School. While
teaching at V.H.S. from 1960-1973 he was employed
every summer as a chemist at Vineland Chemical Co.
In 1973 after retiring from education he took
over as Chief Chemist at Vineland Chemical until
his retirement in 1981. He was also the Tennis
Coach at V.H.S. from 1948-1956. He was the
faculty Golf Champion in 1968. Mr. Krapf was an
avid Bridge Player and organized the Bridge Club
at V.H.S. where he also served as the club
advisor. He also served as the Chemistry Club
Advisor as well as the Faculty Advisor for the
Class of 1953. He was a member of the N.J.E.A.,
N.E.A. Vineland Duplicate Bridge Club, First
United Methodist Church of Millville. He was a
charter member & Past President of the Y’s Mens
Club. He was the 1949 City of Vineland Single
Tennis Champion. Norm was also a charter member
of the Buena Vista C.C. where he was the B flight
Champion in 1962. Mr. Krapf also served as a Red
Cross Volunteer Driver and as a volunteer in the
Pharmacy Dept of the Newcomb Medical Center. He
is survived by 1 son: Norman G. Krapf, Bridgeton,
NJ. 1 daughter & son in law: Karen K. & Pete
Lovato, Bridgeton. Five grandchildren, 6 Great
Grandchildren as well as two nieces & two nephews
in PA. Norm was predeceased by his wife Emma D.
(Meek) in 1998.

Wray DeWinne
Residence: Millville, NJ

April 8, 1907 - February 3, 2008

Wray Ellis (Jonstone) DeWinne, 100, of Millville,
NJ passed away on Sunday evening after a brief
illness at the Millville Center, Genesis
Eldercare. Wray was born in Washington D.C.,
raised in Red Bank, NJ and was a longtime resident
of Vineland and Newfield. She was the daughter of
the late William & Wray (Cake) Johnstone and the
wife of NJ State Trooper George “Sarge” DeWinne,
Sr. who predeceased her in 1956. She was also
predeceased by her son and former NJ State Trooper
George DeWinne, Jr. and her brother Chester
Stoupelli.

Wray was a Registered Nurse at Spring Lake
Hospital prior to moving to Vineland with her
husband to become a homemaker and a mother of her
two children. She was a long-time member of
Friendship United Methodist Church in Landisville,
NJ as well as a long-time member of the
DAR-Daughters of the American Revolution. She was
a wonderful, daughter, wife, mother and
grandmother. She was always smiling and loved by
all those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Wray Carr and
her husband Robert, Cherry Hill, NJ

Grandchildren: Greg, Holly, Brian (Dawn) DeWinne
of Vineland. Robin Radez, Seminole, FL

Michele Smith, NC. as well as six great
grandchildren & four great great grandchildren

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM
on Saturday in the Friendship U.M. Church,
Weymouth Rd., Landisville, NJ where relatives &
friends will be received from 9:30AM to 11:00AM.
Burial will be in the Church cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
Friendship U.M. Church, P.O. Box 144, Landisville,
NJ 08326.

Nina Berghof
Residence: Milmay, NJ

August 12, 1972 - February 3, 2008

A Mass held will be held on Saturday 10:00AM at the
church. A Friday evening Visitation will be held
from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Final Rest: Sacred Heart cemetery, Walnut Rd.
Nina, M. Berghof, age 35, of Milmay, passed away
Sunday morning as a result of an automobile
accident. Born on August 12, 1972 in Vineland, she
was raised and resided in the greater Vineland
area for her entire life. Nina was a graduate of
Vineland High School in 1991 and continued her
education through the county vocational program to
become a Dental Assistant. She worked as a Dental
Assistant for Dr. Mench in Mays Landing for the
last two years. Nina was a devoted family person
who enjoyed entertaining her relatives, cooking,
and attending her children’s school soccer and
wrestling events. Nina is survived by her beloved
husband of 14 years, Jack Herbert Berghof; their 3
children, Zachary L., Cydnee Rae, & Dillan M., all
still at home; her parents, Sebastian & Frances
Ruscica of Vineland; her grandmother, Angelina
Ruscica of Vineland; her sister, Angie A. Pearce &
her husband Todd; her brother, Charlie E. Ruscica
& his wife Amy; & several aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, & cousins. Her funeral liturgy will be
celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the St. Padre
Pio Parish-Our Lady of Pompeii RC Church, 4680
Dante Avenue, Vld. Interment will be in the
parish cemetery. Relatives and friends will be
received on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the
Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vld. In
Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to the Berghof Children’s Trust Fund, C/O
Colonial Bank 2745 Delsea Drive Vineland, NJ
08360.

Sharon Bortle
Residence: Vineland, NJ
April 4, 1972 - February 3, 2008
Sharon V. Bortle (nee Parsons), 35, passed away
suddenly on Sunday. Sharon was born & raised in
Vineland where she was a lifelong city resident.
Sharon attended Sacred Heart High School and
graduated with the Vineland High School class of
1990. After high school she attended and
graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education
from West Chester University. Sharon was
presently working on her Master’s Degree. Sharon
was employed by the Vineland Board of Education as
an elementary school teacher at the Marie Durand
School for the past 13 yrs. Sharon had a passion
for writing and had written two children’s books.
She was the Advisor for the Young Authors Club.
She will be remembered for her zest for learning
which she imparted to her students. She was a
loving and devoted mother to her two children:
Austin & Sarah Rose. Precious daughter of Joseph &
Irene (Stefano) Parsons. Lifelong childhood friend
of Tara (Todd) McMenamin and is also survived by
many Aunts, Uncles & Cousins. Funeral services
will be strictly private for the immediate family.
A public memorial service coordinated by her
fellow faculty members will be held Sunday
February 10, 2008 at The First United Methodist
Church on 7th and Landis Ave, in Vineland
beginning at 4:00 PM. For those who wish,
memorial contributions may be made to the Austin &
Sarah Rose Trust Fund, C/O Susquehanna Patriot
Bank, 1748 S. Lincoln Ave., Vld., NJ 08361.

Anna Gardner
Residence: Milford, DE
February 4, 1922 - February 2, 2008
Anna Smaniotto Gardner, 85, of Milford, DE passed
away suddenly on Saturday afternoon in the
emergency room of Milford Memorial Hospital. Anna
was born in Philadelphia, PA, raised in Newfield
and was a longtime resident of Bridgeton prior to
moving to Milford, DE in 1984. She was the
daughter of the late Elizabeth (McDonald) &
William H. Gardner. Before retiring with 39 yrs
of service, Ms Gardner was employed as a Crew
Leader at the Owens-Illinois Glass Co., Bridgeton.
She was a member of the Oinize Club, G.D.D.A.W.
Local Union #239, Milford Senior Center & the
Cedar Neck Church, Slaughter Beach, DE where she
also served as organist. Anna enjoyed
entertaining family and friends with her fancy
dinners, crocheting, painting, especially china
and pictures and tending to her garden and
flowers. Anna is remembred by all as a classy
lady, nicely dressed and perfect in all ways. She
is survived by 1 daughter: Jean Toscano. 1 son
John (Gian) Smaniotto. 2 grandchildren: Becky
Sheppard. Philip & Kris Osborne

1 great granddaughter: Jennifer Heulings. 1 great
granddaughter: Elizabeth. 2 sisters: Dorothy
Green. Lillian Richmond. Brother in law: Anthony
Olivio. as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM on
Wednesday in the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S.
Main Rd., Vineland, NJ where relatives & friends
will be received from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Burial
will be private in the Piney Hollow U.M. Church
cemetery. For those who wish, memorial
contributions may be made to the Piney Hollow U.M.
Church, C/O Mr. Clarence Johnson, 3094 Dutch Mill
Rd., Newfield, NJ 08344.
