BARBELLA, ROCCO, 28 - of Ventnor, passed away suddenly on Sunday May 2, 2004.
Rocco was born in Philadelphia and resided in this are for many years. He was a graduate of Atlantic city High School and a Gold Medal graduate of the Academy of Culinary Arts, in May of 1996. He had worked for Chef Vola's of Atlantic City and the Tropicana Hotel and Casino.
He thoroughly enjoyed the art of cooking, especially new and creative dishes and he cooked many family Holiday meals. Rocco loved sports, especially Ice Hockey. He received numerous awards and trophies as a goalie, in Brigantine. He was a fun loving kid who had a heart of gold, and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Rocco is predeceased by his father John R. Barbella and brothers Dino, Ronald and John. Surviving him are his mother Mary E. (Ginvens) Barbella of Ventnor, brothers Anthony and wife Deborah, Louis, Michael and wife Carrie and Carmen and wife Nancy, sisters Tina DiPaolo and husband Louis of Ventnor, Gina Barbella of Ventnor, Mary Mazza of Ventnor, Concetta Esposito and husband Louis of Brigantine and Jennifer Barbella of Ventnor. Also surviving him are his loving nephew Domenic and wife Nicole, Anthony, Valentino, Louis and Salvy and great nephew Baby Dom, nieces Rosie, Natalie, Deanna and Amanda.
The Funeral Mass for Rocco will be Celebrated 10am Thursday, May 6, 2004, at St. James RC Church, Newport and Ventnor Avenues, Ventnor. Friends may call from 9am at the Church. Rite of Committal will be offered at the Atlantic City cemetery, Pleasantville. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home LLC 2706 Atlantic Avenue, AC

GLASSMAN, JEANELLE MULLER, 89 - of Margate, died on May 2, 2004. Born and raised in Almonesson, she lived on a farm in Vienna, VA for four years and moved to Arlington, VA when her husband was called to service in Europe during WWII. In 1967 she moved to Margate and since May 2002 has resided at the Fountains of Cedar Parke Assisted Living in Atco. She also owned a winter home in Florida since 1978. Her interests and hobbies included being active in National Women's Club and a Campfire Girl Leader. She was a stamp collector and a very knowledgeable antique collector. In addition she was an excellent cook, learning her husband's favorite Jewish foods which she also loved to eat. She enjoyed gardening and loved to give cuttings from her garden so her flowers are all over South Jersey and Virginia. She was an avid bridge player and a crossword puzzle expert and had monthly Upwords tournaments with Susan-Jeanelle won most of the time.
She had many special qualities including being very patient, never once was heard to raise her voice, very generous and thoughtful, loved her grandchildren, opened her house at the shore to all visitors to the beach, always optimistic and hopeful and had a good sense of humor. Her most special quality was being the sole caretaker for Judy, afflicted with cerebral palsy, until at 77 she was unable to care for her.
She was the beloved wife of the late Louis H. Glassman, whom she met with his fraternity brothers from the University of Pennsylvania, who rented the house next door for the summer at the lake in Almonesson. She was the loving mother of Susan K. Malatesta and her husband Al and the late Judy Glassman. She was the proud grandmother of Jason and Jeffrey.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life at her graveside service on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM at Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona. Family arrangements by Jeffries & Keates Funeral Home, Nortb.field. 646-3400 A Life Celebration Home.

McQUEEN, JOHN W., "Pootsy", "Mackey", 63 - of Pleasantville, departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the Linwood Care Center, in Linwood. Born in Atlantic City to the late John W. and Mary Webb-McQueen, he attended the Atlantic City Public Schools and was a dedicated employee for Lyons Veterans Hospital, in Lyons in the EVS Department.
Predeceased by his parents, his brother, James "Butch" McQueen and his step-daughter, Berna Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Dolores McQueen, of Pleasantville; his sister, Aretha "Reese" McQueen; one daugh-ter, Peggy Monique McQueen, both of AC; three sons, John, Jr., Kevin "Akbar", and his com-panion, Marion and Anthony "Tony" McQueen, all of AC; twp step-children, Margaret Camper-Price, and her husband, Charles and Tyrone Parker, all of Plea-santville; his close nephew (whom he also raised) Tremaine McQueen, of AC; three brothers-in-law, Donald Reese, of AC, Robert Lawrence and Stanley Parker, both of New York; two special great-granddaughters who were also his god-daughters, Rahniyah and Rashanah Camper, of Pleasant-ville and their mother Jamanah; a host of grandchildren; one great-great grand-daughter, nieces, nephews, cousins other loving relatives and many fine friends.

CLARK, HELEN MAXWELL, 88 - of Somers Point, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at the Linwood Convalescent Center, Linwood.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA. She was a retired school nurse working in the Ocean City school system for 23 years, retiring in 1980. She also was a member of St. Peters United Methodist Church in Ocean City.
She is survived by her husband: Andrew Stanley Clark of Somers Point, two sons: Thomas A. Clark and Robert A. Clark, both of Somers Point, one sister: Lenore M. Townsend of Ocean City, and one granddaughter: Tara Marie.
A graveside funeral service will be offered Thursday afternoon at one o'clock from Seaside cemetery, 559 S. Shore Rd., Palermo. ROBINSON, BEATRICE, 93 - formerly of Norwood, PA and Cape May, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at the Masonic Village, Lafayette Hill, PA. Memorial service at 12:00 p.m. May 27, 2004 from the Church Of The Advent, Washington and Frankin St., Cape May. Burial will be private.

LANDING, THEODORE - of Atlantic City, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, May 22, 2004, in the comfort of his home.
Born in Atlantic City on December 5, 1932, to Joseph and Helen Landing, he attended Atlantic City schools and graduated from Atlantic City Technical School. He served in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1952.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail as a machinist for over thirty years, from which he retired 20 years ago.
He attended and was a member of Community Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband to Vivian (deceased); devoted father to Theodore, Jr. (deceased), Dawn Borders of Atlantic City, Anthony and his wife, Jackquetta of San Diego, CA, Corey of Pikesville, MD, and Donna of Mays Landing; predeceased by his sister, Doris Nelson, and two brothers, William and Joseph Landing, Jr.; also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy of Atlantic City, and Isabell Scriven of Atlantic City; one brother, Abner and his wife Ella, of Atlantic City; nine grandchildren, Kenneth Floyd, II of Atlantic City, Janay Landing and Brent Dabbs, II of Mays Landing, Brittany, Demetria and Brandon Borders, II, all of Atlantic City, Anthony Jr., Natasha and Rauna, all of San Diego, CA; and a host of relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Blvd., Atlantic City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mr. Landing to the American Cancer Society.

OSTROFF, JACK "SONNY", 84 - of Vineland passed away after a brief illness, Monday May 24 in S.J. Healthcare; Newcomb.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. he lived in the Vineland area all of his life. Prior to retirement, Mr. Ostroff was a cutter for Burlington Dress Co. of Atlantic City for 20 years and previously worked for Egg Harbor Coat Co. Mr. Ostroff was a WW II Army Corp. of Engineers Veteran. He was former Commander and member of the Jewish War Veterans. Mr. Ostroff was an Active Community Advocate and volunteer. He managed the Jewish War Veterans Babe Ruth League team. Mr. Ostroff enjoyed golfing and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mildred (Saul) Ostroff of Vineland; two sons, Marc Ostroff and Lee Ostroff and his wife Linda, all of Vineland; one daughter, Beverly Katz and her husband Steven of Runnemede; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Christi; three great-granddaughters, Paige, Mia and Cassie.
Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday (today) 4:00 PM in Alliance cemetery, Norma; with Rabbi Yisroel Rapoport officiating. Written condolences to the family may be e-mailed to wbfuneralhome@comcast.net. Arrangements are by the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, Vineland.

GRAHAM, HARRY LEE, 78 - of Egg Harbor Township, passed away on Tuesday May 4, 2004, in Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, after failing health.
Mr. Graham was born in Lake City, SC and has been a resident of Egg Harbor Township for 20 years. He had retired from Local 415 Laborers Union in Atlantic City. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the VFW.
He is survived by his former wife, Gloria Graham; three stepdaughters, Joy Allen, Dina Brice and Iris Hall; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; also, one sister, Hazel Ray of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Ray Graham and his wife Barbara and George Graham, Jr., all of New York.
Graveside Services will be held Noon Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in the Atlantic County Veterans cemetery, Estell Manor. Arrangements entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Home, Atlantic City.

KOOB, RAYMOND JOSEPH - of Houston, TX, formerly of Ocean City died peacefully in the loving care of his sister Lorraine and his niece Mandy on Thursday, June 3, 2004 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Darby, PA, he lived in Ocean City most of his life, living the last ten years in Houston. After graduating from Ocean City High School and Rider College, he was employed by Berger Realty for many years.
Ray was a poet with books of poems to his credit. He is listed in the Who's Who in American Authors, Editors and Poets, International Authors and Writers, Who's Who of Cambridge, England, Personalities of America and The Book of Honor as a result of his first published work, KOOB BOOK I. His work was exhibited in the area accompanied by poetry readings and lectures. Ray was also an accomplished drummer. He was committed to the cause of Christianity and the mentally ill. The enhancement of the Christian message was the major subject of this poet's life work. Ray was a man of courage. He inspired it in others. Those who knew him well...... understand. "A peaceful green valley awaits thee..."
He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Frank Koob; his parents, Robert and Kathleen Gallagher Koob; stepmother, Dorothy Crosby Koob; and his stepsister, Marian Pfander. He is survived by his children, Robert and wife Jacqueline of Egg Harbor Township, Amy and her fianc‚ John Karbiwnyck of Moorestown; step children, Jamie and wife Heather McElgin of Petersburg, Alexandra Bobbit and husband Mark of Vineland; his grandchildren, McKayle, Hannah and Jonathon Koob, Morgan, Chole and Sophia McElgin, Logan, Emilee and Gaige Bobbit; his sister, Lorraine Rogers of Houston, TX; stepsister, Sally and Russell Lindsay of Petersburg; his beloved uncle, Phil and wife Fran Koob of Concord, NC; many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, cousins as well as loyal, caring friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday Evening, June 17th at Seven O'clock from The Church of the Resurrection, 200 West Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, where friends and family may call from Six O'clock until the time of Mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

JACOBY, PHILIP, "Captain Chic", 83 - of Port Salerno, FL, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 12, 2004. Chic was born in Philadelphia and lived in Maple Shade for the next 50 years before moving to Somers Point. He spent his retirement years between Somers Point and Port Salerno, FL.
He proudly served as 2nd Class Seaman in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local Lodge #13. He was a life member of the Maple Shade Volunteer Fire Company, American Legion Post #66 of Maple Shade, Auxiliary Member of V.F.W. Post #10132 of Hobe Sound, FL, and the Moose Lodge #1282 of Stuart, FL. Chic was also a member of the Jersey Joes Drum and Bugle Corp of Riverside, as well as musical director and leader of "Chic and the Boozers" band.
Captain Chic fulfilled his life dream upon leaving the Navy of owning and operating the fishing vessels Lujane, Full House and Rose M. sailing out of Somers Point for 50 years.
Chic will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Rose as well as his son Joe (JoAnn) of Maple Shade, daughter Joyce (Mike Del Priscoll) of Moorestown, and son Philip (Patti) of Port Salerno, FL. Chic is also survived by his sister Betty Todd of Maple Shade, sisters-in-law Marion Verbaro of Maple Shade, Eve Jacoby of Collingswood, and Dot Moncrief (Bill) of Laurel Springs.
Captain Chic was blessed with 13 grandchildren (predeceased by grandson Steven), 24 great-grandchildren and by the many friends he met along the way.
A memorial service is planned for the Maple Shade area and will be announced at a future time.

PIO, MARY OCHETTO, 89 - of Washington Crossing, PA, on June 11, 2004 in the St. Mary's Hospital in Langhorne, PA. Mary was born & raised in South Vineland where she was a lifelong resident prior to moving to PA to reside with her daughter & son in law, Barbara & John Valentine. Her funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday in the St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 23 W. Chestnut Ave., Vineland, with burial to follow in the Sacred Heart cemetery. Relatives & friends will be received on Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. & again on Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, NJ.
