PASSMAN, HAROLD

PASSMAN, HAROLD, 74 - of Atlantic City, formerly of Margate, passed away at his residence on Saturday.

Born in Philadelphia, he was an area resident for many years.

Mr. Passman was an owner of various businesses locally and also in the Philadelphia area.

He was also a veteran of the Army.

Mr. Passman was predeceased by his mother and father, William and Fay Passman; a brother, Sidney; a sister, Miriam; also his loving wife, Rosalie.

Surviving are his son, Bart (Merle) Passman of Margate; a daughter, Karen (Tom) Bowen of Absecon; five grandchildren, Jason Richard and Benjamin Evan Passman, Matthew Raldak, Stephen and William Bowen; also a sister-in-law, Carol Passman.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at precisely 1 p.m. at Har Jehuda cemetery in Upper Darby, PA.

Arrangements are by the Roth-Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel of Atlantic City.

Contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

McALISTER, ALBERT T.

McALISTER, ALBERT T., 81 - of Mays Landing, and formerly of Indian Branch Park, died Saturday in Atlantic City Medical Center-Mainland Division.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a South Jersey resident for many years.

McAlister was a Customer Service Manager for Hussmann Refrigeration of Cherry Hill.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. McAlister was an avid bowler and golfer.

He was an exempt member of the Magnolia Vol. Fire Company; a member of the Colony Club at Indian Branch Park; a former Councilman in Magnolia; a member of the American Legion and he was an umpire for the Magnolia Little League for many years.

Mr. McAlister is survived by his wife, Rose (nee Carroll) McAlister; one daughter, Susan Rans and her husband Michael of Washington Township; two sons, Albert Thomas McAlister, Jr. and his wife Jean of Galloway Township and Steven Edward McAlister and his wife Roseann of Mantua; seven grandchildren, Christopher & Jessica Rans, Alison Rans, Matt, Brian, Katie, Michael and Daniel McAlister.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday 7:00 p.m. in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Third & Peach Sts., Hammonton, where relatives and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association, 2550 Rte One, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 or to the Cerebral Palsy Center of Gloucester-Salem County, 610 Holly Dell Drive, Hurffsville, NJ 08080.

Arrangements are by the Carnesale Funeral Home, Hammonton.

MERKEL, JOHN J. "Jack"

MERKEL, JOHN J. "Jack", 73 - of Whiting, formerly of Robbinsville, died Sunday, July 4, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton.

Born in Trenton, he lived in Robbinsville for ten years before coming to Crestwood Village, Whiting in May 2004.

He was executive director of A.F.S.C.M.E. Union Council 73 Trenton for 40 years until his retirement in 2000, Vice President of the International Executive Board of the A.F.S.C.M.E. for 17 years, and Executive Board Member of the A.F.L.C.I.O. for 30 years.

He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys High School and received a soccer scholarship to Ryder College.

He was an avid Soccer, Basketball and Baseball player, coached Little League in Trenton for 30 years.

He was inducted into the Trenton Softball Hall of Fame, Umpire Division on April 19, 1993.

Surviving are his wife Irene Murk Merkle; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Carter Sayle of Hoover, AL; a cousin, Doris Morrison of Lawrenceville; three grandchildren, Zachary, Logan, and Reid.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Wednesday 10-11 am.

Funeral services Wednesday 11 am at "The Family Owned" Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Route 530, Whiting.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph cemetery, Toms River.

D'AMICO, CATHERINE M.

D'AMICO, CATHERINE M., 90 - of Wildwood Crest, passed away Sunday at the Burdette Tomlin Hospital in Cape May Court house.

Born in Philadelphia, she has been a Wildwood Crest resident for the past 30 years.

Mrs. D'Amico was a member of the Church of the Assumption and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society of the Church.

She was a member of the Golden Age Club of Wildwood.

A former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Wildwood Crest Ambulance Corp and a member of the Ladies Republican Club of Wildwood Crest.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry R. D'Amico and her brother, James Maguire.

Mrs. D'Amico is survived by: son, Gerard J. D'Amico and his wife, Marianne P. D'Amico; two grandchildren, Gerard John and Daniel; three brothers, John, Vincent and Robert Maguire; one sister, Mary Hopkins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, 7100 Seaview Ave., Wildwood Crest, where friends may call from 10 a.m. Entombment will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in New St. Mary's cemetery, Bellmawr.

Donations in memory of Mrs. D'Amico to the Church of the Assumption in Wildwood Crest or to St. John of God, Westville, NJ 08093 would be appreciated.

Arrangements are by the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, North Wildwood.

SHEPHERD, BRIAN M.

SHEPHERD, BRIAN M., 15 - of West Wildwood, on June 19, 2004, who was preceded in death by his beloved mother Deborah (nee O'Brian).

He is survived by his loving father, Dennis, brothers, Joe and Dennis, sisters Amy Dorofy, Courtney, Dana and Kelli, his paternal grandmother, Theresa Shepherd, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday, 9 a.m., The Reilly Funeral Home, 2632 E. Allegheny Ave., Phila., PA 19134.

Funeral Service will begin at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in Forest Hills cemetery.

COUCH, HAZEL LORETTA

COUCH, HAZEL LORETTA, 81 -of Atlantic City, departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2004 while in the Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Born in Philadelphia, she attended the Philadelphia Public Schools and relocated to Atlantic City in 1977.

She worked part time as an Office Assistant and also in the Housekeeping Departments of the local casinos and was lastly employed at Altman Terrace as a Secretary.

She was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church, in Atlantic City, as well as a former member of Altman Terrace Tenants Association.

She leaves to cherish fond and unforgettable memories to: one daughter, Shiela Mujahid of Philadelphia, PA; three sons, Monte R. Frazier, of Philadelphia, PA, Gregory N. Frazier of Ghana, West Africa and Archie Frazier of Atlantic City; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other loving relatives and many fine friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at Mikal's (609-344-1131) Funeral Parlor, Inc., 1033 Baltic Avenue, Atlantic City at 2 p.m.

Viewing 1-2 p.m.

Burial at Seaside cemetery, Palermo.

MACKLE, VERNA

MACKLE, VERNA, 53 - of Cape May Court House, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2004.

She was born in Philadelphia and moved to this area 30 years ago.

She is survived by her son, Jay Mackle; her daughter, Stacey Mackle; her brothers and sister, Charles (Chick) Condran and his wife Joyce, Joseph Wilson and his wife Rita, Sharon Isaksen and her husband Rod, Michael Condran and his wife, Nancy, and Kevin Condran; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Buccella and her husband, Gerald Mackle.

Funeral Liturgy will be said on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, Parkway and East Mechanic St., Cape May Court House.

Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1060 North Kings Highway, Suite 309, Cherry Hill, NJ 08304.

NORBURY, LUCY MAY

NORBURY, LUCY MAY, 91 - formerly of Cape May Court House, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palm Beach, FL.

She was born in Dias Creek, to the late Redmond and Effie Norton Stiles.

She was a former faithful member and Sunday School Teacher of the Cape May Court House Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of the Middle Township High School and the Glassboro Normal School.

She taught school in Dennisville, Goshen and Avalon Schools.

She also had been a bookkeeper for the Burleigh Lumber Company.

She was a member of the Wildwood Golf and Country Club and a former member of the Ballen Isle of J.D.M.C.C. of Palm Beach Gardens.

She is survived by her two sons: Leslie A. and his wife, Mary of Cape May Court House, and Donald and his wife, Marie of Ocala FL; five grandchildren: Linda Norbury, Ruth Ann Roman, Donna Riley, Heather Norbury and Donald Norbury, Jr; five great grandchildren: Bethany, Josuha and Victoria Kell and Nicholas and Joelle Roman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester H. Norbury, on July 7, 1987.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2004 from 10:00 to 11:00a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House.

Funeral Services will be private.

Interment will be in the Baptist cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 225 City Avenue, Suite 104, Bala Cynwyd, PA, 19004.

PICKETT, WILBURN T.

PICKETT, WILBURN T., (TOMMY), 78 - of Ventnor, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004.

Born in Foster, Oklahoma, Tommy lived in Atlantic County for more than 50 years.

Son of the late Thomas C. & Martha L. Pickett.

Predeceased by his wife Patricia, brothers Warren, Martin and Allen Pickett.

He is survived by daughter Patti Corvari, her husband Paul, and their daughter Natalie of Northfield: son Harry Pickett of Ventnor, and his children Ryan, Christopher and Chelsea Pickett of GalIoway; sister Bernice Easlon of Odessa, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00p.m. and again from 9:00 to 10:00a.m. on Wednesday morning at the Funeral Home, and to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 10:00a.m. in the Adams Perfect Funeral Homes. Inc., 1650 New Road, Northfield.

Burial will follow in the Atlantic County Veterans cemetery in Estelle Manor.
