Coleman, Alice L.

Alice L. Coleman, 86, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at the Crest Haven Nursing Home. She was a lifetime county resident. She was a retired Housekeeper at the Woodbine Developmental Center.

She is survived by her 2 sons: Edward DeSantis of Swainton, NJ, and John DeSantis of South Carolina; her daughter: Earlene Lee of Swainton, NJ; seven grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Funeral Services are private.

Cole, Mulford R.

Mulford R. Cole, 70, of Dennisville, died on Friday, January 23, 2004 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Mulford and Elizabeth Robinson Cole. He was born at the Margaret Mace Hospital, North Wildwood, and was a lifetime area resident. He was retired from the Maintenance Department of the Pine Haven Campground. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Cole was a graduate of Middle Township High School and a member of the Alumni Association; a member of the Canon Lodge of F & AM; a member of the N.W. Dennis Community Club; and a former member of the Ruritan Club.

He is survived by his two sisters, Elizabeth Travis of Port Arthur, TX, and Doris E. Schofield of Dennisville; several nieces and nephews, including Robert Schofield of NW Dennisville, Elizabeth Cary of Woodbury, Daniel Errickson and Desiree Bender, both of NW Dennisville, and Charlene Hartem of Cape May Court House.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union cemetery, South Dennis. There are no calling hours.

Cohen, Irene M.

Irene M. Cohen, of Cape May Court House, N.J. died suddenly on Friday, January 23rd, 2004. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Louise Franza Whitehorne. Irene was a vibrant and caring person who helped and touched so many lives. She was most generous in giving her time, and even her own belongings to the needy and those less fortunate. She was the kind of person who literally went without her winter coat, so that another could be warm. She was an adopted mother and grandmother to many people, young and old alike.

Irene moved to Cape May County in 1976 from Australia and was a much-loved elementary teacher in the Middle Township school system for 23 years. Irene volunteered in any capacity that would be supportive of children. With energy and enthusiasm she actively supported her children's participation in Little League, soccer, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. Additionally, she was depended on for long hours volunteering in the elementary school, the PTA, and many after-school programs. Later she was an official and founding member of the "Bag Ladies," a group who prepared bags of care packages for college students.

Irene was graduated with honors from Fontbonne Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY. She received her undergraduate degree and a Master's Degree in Economics from Brentwood College. Afterwards, she taught for many years in the parochial school system on Long Island.

Irene was a very active member of Our Lady of The Angels Church since her arrival. As the Director of Religious Education, longtime CCD instructor, member of the Parish Council, and founding Principal of "Lil Angels," (the Church's parochial school) she put forth a great deal of time and energy towards serving all members of the parish, especially the children.

She was an active member of the Cape May County Educators Association, the NJ Education Association, and the National Education Association. She was considered an exemplary educator by parents, children, and peers, winning numerous awards, including Teacher of the Year. She was also a member of the Women's Democratic Club of Middle Township.

Irene is survived by her children: Edward T., Joseph M. and his wife Beth, all residing in Philadelphia, PA and step-daughter Terry S. residing in Wilmington DE. A Memorial Mass will be said on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 8 pm at Our Lady of the Angels Church, Cape May Court House, NJ. Friends may call between 6pm and 7:45pm at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to The Irene M. Cohen Scholarship Fund (a custodian of the fund will be announced at a later date).

Coffman, Richard G.

COFFMAN, RICHARD G., on July 12, 2004, of Cherry Hill, NJ. Formerly of Westmont, NJ. Age 57. Beloved husband of Lillian Inez (nee Grey). Father of Daniel J. Coffman of Cherry Hill. Also survived by his sister, Diane Coffman of Cherry Hill and his 3 grandchildren, Amber, Molly, and Danielle. Richard was a firefighter with the City of Camden for 25 years, before retiring.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home, Rt. 73 & Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arlington cemetery, Pennsauken, NJ.

Coffman, Elizabeth E.

COFFMAN, on May 20, 2002, Elizabeth E. (nee Hansbury) of Southampton, formerly of Collingswood and Philadelphia. Age 75. Beloved wife of the late George E. ‘Bud’ Coffman. Loving mother of Richard G. and his wife, Lillian Coffman of Clermont FL and Diane Coffman of Southampton. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, Anthony, Michael and Daniel and 8 great grandchildren. Her interests included politics and she was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Vincentown. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday from 9:30-11:00am at the Bradley Funeral Home Rt. 73 and Evesham Rd. Marlton where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am. Interment Arlington cemetery, Pennsauken.

Clayton, Harold E.

Harold E. Clayton, age 79 of Long Branch died Tuesday, June 15 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. He was and electrician for the U.S. Government retiring in 1985. He served his country honorably in the US Navy. Born in Long Branch, he was a life resident. He was predeceased by a daughter, Melody Clayton in 1961. Surviving is his wife, Madeline Lazarides Clayton; two daughters and a son in law, Eileen Montenegro of Ocean Twp., and Deborah and Jack Levy of Long Branch; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Daniel Conklin, Christopher and Jeanette Levy, Jacqulyn Levy, Kelly Levy and Nicole Montenegro; and two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Andrew Conklin.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., corner of Third Ave, Long Branch on Thursday, June 17, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral, Friday, 9:30 am from the funeral home with a service to begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Glenwood cemetery, West Long Branch.

Clark-Olson, Grace M.

CLARK-OLSON, GRACE M. (nee Betham) on August 2, 2004 age 94. Raised in Westville and a graduate of Woodbury High School, Mrs. Olson was a longtime resident of Brooklawn and also resided in Paulsboro and Voorhees before moving to Marlton just 3 months ago. Beloved wife of the late Leon J. Clark, Sr. and Samuel Olson. Devoted mother of Leon J. Clark, Jr. and his wife Kathy, John M. Clark and his wife April and Edythe Mitchell and her husband David. Loving grandmother of Lorri Bond, Wendi Hart, David Mitchell, Matthew & Robert Clark, Kathi Harris, Lesley Luckenbill, John Clark & McKenzie Clark. Also survived by 23 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Saturday from 9:30-11:30 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home, Rt. 73 S. and Evesham Rd in Marlton. Clarke, Anna M.

Anna M. Clarke, 90, a resident of Goshen, NJ for many years, died on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at the Lutheran Home at Ocean View. She was the first female infant born in Stone Harbor, NJ to the late James and Helen Errickson Garrison. She was retired from the Cape May County Probation Department after twenty five years of service. She was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son: Neil O. and his wife, Rachael, of Steelmantown, NJ; brothers: Ralph Garrison of Westville, NJ, and Alvin Garrison of Cape May Court House; sister: Helen Wright of Cape May; grandsons: Glenn and Kevin Clarke; seven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty one years, Robert E., on February 9, 1997 and a grandson, Brian S., on October 23, 1983.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2004, at 2:30 PM at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Av., Cape May Court House, NJ, where friends may call at 2:00 PM. Interment in Goshen United Methodist cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Goshen United Methodist Church, Goshen, NJ 08218.

Clark, Tina Marie Calabria

Tina Marie Calabria Clark, 37, of West Long Branch formerly of Howell Township died Wednesday, February 25, at St Barnabas Hospice Center, Long Branch. Tina was a graduate of Shore Regional High School and Concorde School of Cosmetology and Hair Design. Tina was employed as a hair dresser for 17 years at Just Hair Salon in Oceanport. She was actively involved in the Pop Warner Association where she was an award winning cheerleading coach. She was also a PTA representative and room mother while she resided in Howell Township. Bron in Long Branch, she had been a life resident of the shore area. Tina was a beloved wife, wonderful mother, loving daughter and granddaughter, precious niece, cousin and devoted friend. Tina is survived by her husband Terry Clark, two daughters, Brianna, age ten, and Victoria, age six; her parents Frank, Sr. and Carol Calabria; a brother and sister in law, Frank, Jr. and Barbara Ann Calabria, a sister and brother in law, Lori and Chris Olson; and her grandmother, Marge Casey.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, Long Branch on Friday February 27, from 5-9 pm. Funeral Saturday, February 28, at 9 am from the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, Long Branch. In honor of Tina, a trust fund has been established to benefit her two daughters. Donations are requested to the Tina Calabria Clark Benefit Fund, 33 Forest Street, West Long Branch, NJ 07764. A benefit will the held on Saturday March 27, at the Long Branch Elks, from 8pm - 12pm.

Civitella, Raymond

Civitella, On November 15, 2001 Raymond of Leisuretown, Southampton, NJ Formerly of N Cape May and Maple Shade, NJ Age 87. Beloved husband of the late Helen. Loving father of Raymond J. Civitella and his wife RoseAnn of Mt Laurel, and Dorothy Willis and her husband Malcolm of Odenton, MD. Devoted grandfather of Amy Civitella, Raymond E. Civitella, and his wife Alice, and Emily Horne. Mr Civitella was a member of the Overbrook Italian American Club, the Leisuretown Civic Club, and the Fishing Club in the Villas. Ciaglia, John A.

John A. Ciaglia, age 87 of Long Branch died Friday, June 25, at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. He was a lead man for Bendix Corporation, Eatontown, for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Born in Newark, he had lived in Red Bank before coming to Long Branch 64 years ago. He served his country honorable during World War II in the United States Army. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent "Jimmy" Ciaglia and a sister, Carmella Gargulio.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Sirianni Ciaglia; a son, John C. Ciaglia, Long Branch; 2 daughters and a son in law, Jean Germann, Jamesburg, Arlene and Tullio Di Fedele, Howell; a brother, Joseph Ciaglia, West Long Branch; a sister, Nancy Congro, Freehold; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie and Gina.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, corner of Third Ave, Long Branch on Monday from 2-4, 7-9 pm. Funeral Tuesday, June 29, at 8:30 am from the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Mass at Holy Trinity R.C. Church. Entombment will be at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.

Christensen, Ralph T.

CHRISTENSEN, RALPH T. on April 1, 2004 at the Masonic Home in Burlington Twp., NJ formerly of Ellentown, FL, Collingswood, NJ and Brooklawn, NJ. Age 80 years. Beloved husband of the late Ella (nee Dundrea). Dear brother of Thomas and his wife Dorothy of Shrewsbury, NJ. Also survived by nieces Lynda Lathrop and her husband Franklin Jr. of Marlton, Joanne Brooks, Nancy Cavallaro and her husband Frank of Brooklawn, Janice Hill and her husband Wayne of Gloucester City, Judy Wink and her husband Robert of Ohio, Amanda Kruskal and her husband Joel of NY city and Susan Sheridan and her husband Richard of Neptune and nephews Chris Christensen and Cal Dundrea and his wife Mary of Pitman and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Prior to retirement, Ralph was employed as a manager at Keystone Lighting in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #15 of Haddonfield/Cherry Hill for over 40 years and a member of the South Jersey Officiating Association for many years. He was also a United States Army/Air Force Veteran of WWII. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home, Rt 73 S. and Evesham Rd. in Marlton. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, NJ. Colford, Jr, Joseph E.

Joseph E. Colford Jr., the retired director of the Hudson County Youth House and later a social worker with Catholic Community Services in the Archdiocese of Newark, died Sunday January 25, at his home in Seabrook Village at Tinton Falls, N.J. He was 83.

Colford grew up and raised his family in Jersey City. In 1995, he and his wife, Catherine, moved to Monmouth Beach, where they had spent summer vacations for more than 40 years, and they relocated to Seabrook last summer.

He had been a Hudson County probation officer for 11 years when he was appointed head of the Youth House in 1956.

In 1962, he led the move of the juvenile detention facility from the present site of Marist High School in Bayonne to a new and more spacious campus in Secaucus. He later organized a supervised shelter at the Jersey City Medical Center complex designed to house non-delinquent youngsters apart from the secured Youth House population.

He retired from the Youth House in 1980 and spent the next 15 years working for Catholic Community Services, helping to set up and maintain group homes in Jersey City for adults released from state psychiatric hospitals.

Colford was also an active volunteer in the Jersey City community.

In the 1970s, he served as a trustee of Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church, a member of the parish school board and a trustee of St. Francis Hospital. In the latter role, he helped select contractors and architects to build new wings at the downtown hospital and arrange financing for the projects.

Before leaving Jersey City in 1995, he delivered meals to homebound city residents with AIDS as a volunteer with the God's Love We Deliver program.

Colford, a graduate of St. Peter's Prep and St. Peter's College in Jersey City, was active in both schools' alumni fundraising. He also held a master's degree in educational and vocational guidance from Seton Hall University, where he taught an evening course in delinquency and crime control from 1958 to 1962.

Colford was the son of Hudson political leader Joseph E. Colford, who was a close ally of legendary Jersey City Mayor Frank Hague. The elder Colford at different times was a city commissioner, Hudson County sheriff, a county freeholder and also chairman of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years Catherine Lipsett Colford, his eight children, Mary Palecek, of Orland Park, Ill.; Joseph III, of Middletown; Francis, of West Long Branch; Paul, of Roselle Park; Christopher, of Scarsdale, N.Y.; Peter, of Mendham; Lorie Reilly, of Mount Laurel, and Brian, of Jersey City; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., corner of Third Ave, Long Branch on Tuesday January 27, from 2-4 7-9 pm. Funeral Wednesday January 28, at 9 am from the funeral home followed by a 10 am mass at the Roman Catholic Church of Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. Interment Holy Cross cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, it's requested that donations be made to St. Peter's Prep, 144 Grand St., Jersey City 07302, for a Joe Colford scholarship fund.
