George Daniel Rathbun, 79, formerly of Tenafly, NJ, husband of Louise nee DeGraw. Father of Gloria Rao of Fairlawn, NJ, Louise Bardelle of North Wildwood, NJ, Doreen Harris of CAtshill, NY, Daniel of Howell, NJ, and George of Villas, NJ. Survived by two brothers, two sisters, and nine grandchildren.

Services on Friday, February 20, 2004, at 11:00 AM at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Av., Cape May Court House, NJ, where friends may call Thursday 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment in Cape May County Veterans cemetery.

Ravaschiere, Rocco

Rocco Ravaschiere age 84 of Eatontown died Friday, March 19 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was an attorney in Red Bank for many years. He served his country honorably during World War II in the US Army Air Force, where he was a prisoner of war. A recipient of the Purple Heart and received the Distinguished Flying Cross after flying in thirty eight combat missions. During two of his combat missions, his plane was shot down. He was a member of the Veteran Administration and the New Jersey Bar Association. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he had lived in West Long Branch and Long Branch before moving to Eatontown 15 years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Minchen Ravaschiere; 2 sons, Frank T. Ravaschiere, Long Branch, Robert V. Ravaschiere, Long Branch; a daughter Claudia J. Ravaschiere, Boston, MA; 2 sisters, Antoinette Tesoriero, West Long Branch, Frances Colangelo, Florida; and 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Rocco Ravaschiere Moss, Kara Minchin, Sherie Killingback, Heather Tier.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., corner of Third, Long Branch on Monday, March 22 from 2-4, 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood cemetery, Brielle. Memorial donations are requested to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301.

Ravaschieri, Elizabeth Canonico

ELIZABETH CANONICO RAVASCHIERI, 96, of WEST LONG BRANCH, died Thursday, Dec. 18, at Jersey Shore Care Center, Eatontown. She was a retired sewing machine operator. Born in Red Bank, she was a life resident of the area.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Ravaschieri, in 1988; a sister, Rose Di Guglielmo; and four brothers, Steve, Nunzio, Carmen and Fred Canonico. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Jr. and Lucille Ravaschieri of West Long Branch; a daughter and son-in-law, Antoinette and Walter Yarborough of Tinton Falls; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Relatives and friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Damiano Funeral Home, Third and Franklin avenues, Long Branch. The funeral will be 9 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. Interment will be in Woodbine cemetery, Oceanport.

REED, Robert Franklin

Died peacefully on April 10, 2004 of Cherry Hill, formerly of Audubon. Age 83. Loving father of Robert R. Reed and his wife Margaret E. of Langhorne, PA. Dear grandfather of Ryan, Melissa, and Heather; and great grandfather of Faith and Arwen. Mr. Reed was a Veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II and a charter member of the American Legion Post in Cherry Hill. He retired as a Service Writer from Winner Ford, Cherry Hill, where he worked for 45 years. On January 30, 2004 of Barrington, NJ age 78 Yrs. Beloved husband of Janice (Nee. Ridley). Devoted father of Pamela Rehrig of Middletown, CT, Stephen Rehrig of Gibbsboro, NJ and Claudia Rehrig of Plainsboro, NJ. Loving grandfather of Amanda, Kathryn, Rachel, and Julia. Mr. Rehrig earned a BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and worked as an Instrumentation Engineer for United Engineers & Constructors of Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of the Instrument Society of America. Mr. Rehrig was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Barrington, the Barrington Girls Softball League and served on the Barrington Board of Education. Romer, Col. Verdun P.

VERDUN P. ROMER Sr., Colonel,US Army Reserve(Ret) passed away on Thursday, July 8th, 2004 at the Newcomb Hospital in Vineland, NJ. He was 86 yrs. of age. Born in San Francisco, CA, he resided most of his life in Saratoga, CA before moving to Medford, NJ, 8 yrs. ago. He is the son of the late Robert & Mabel Romer. Verdun was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Europe with the Antiaircraft and Glider Corp. After the war he joined the Army Reserve and retired with the rank of Colonel in 1976 after 35 years of service to his country. He worked in education for 28 years mainly in the Campbell High School District. He was the first Principal of Prospect High School in Saratoga, CA from 1971 until his retirement in 1980. He was also Principal at Blackford High School in San Jose, CA for 10 years prior to his moving to Prospect High. He was a long time member of the Kiwanis of Saratoga. He is the loving father of Verdun P. Romer Jr. of Saratoga, CA, John D. Romer of St. Louis, MO and Elizabeth J. Gartenmayer of Medford, NJ. He is also survived by his 4 Grandchildren, and 1 Great Grandson.. Scarano, Nicolena Caroline "Lee"

Nicolena Caroline "Lee" Scarano, age 95 of Newark died Saturday April 17 at Alameda Care Center, Perth Amboy. She worked in the accounting department at Tung-Sol Electric, later known as Wagner Electric in Newark for over 40 years, taking mandatory retirement at 65. After a brief respite, she took a position in the accounting department at Montclair State Teachers College, where she remained for 12 years, finally retiring in 1985 to care for her sick brother, Carl. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Newark. Born in Newark, she spent her early years in Long Branch before returning to Newark. She is predeceased by her 3 brothers, Ben, Carl, and Rocco, 2 sisters, Anna and Flora and a nephew Thomas Zegarelli. Although she never married , she was a doting aunt to her nieces and nephews, Mary Lou Brady Cary of New York; Marilyn DeSantis of Los Gatos, CA; Anthony Zegarelli of Hopelawn; Robert Scarano of Franklin Park; John Scarano of Montville; Kathryn McGinty of Coopersburg, PA and 14 grandnieces and grandnephews.

Sacco, Peter F.

PETER F. SACCO, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 7th, 2004 at the Wiley Home in Marlton, NJ. He was 91 yrs. of age. Born in Germantown, PA, he is the son of the late Antonio and Rose Sacco. He resided in the Trisha Meadows section of Mt. Laurel, NJ for the past 10 years moving there from Allenwood Mobile Estates in Tabernacle, NJ. A ret. Electrician with Campbell Soup in Camden, he worked there from 38 yrs. until his retirement in 1974. He is a long time member of the Easton Bible Church and was a well known Piano Tuner in the Medford area for many churches, schools and individuals and was a Custodian at the Medford Lakes Colony Club. He is the beloved husband of Angelina A. (Nee Galeotti) and the loving Father of Peggy Bright and her husband Ken of Tabernacle, NJ and Carol Cole of Sicklerville, NJ. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Ken Bright Jr. of Mt. Laurel, NJ, David Bright of Little Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Dawn Gaskill of Tuckerton, NJ, and Robert Hiles and Marc Hiles both of Ft. JOSEPH E. SADUSKY SR. passed away on Thursday, July 1st, 2004 at his home in the Governors Walk Section of Medford, NJ. He was 72 yrs. of age. Born and raised in Lost Creek, PA, he resided in Medford for the past 28 yrs. moving here from Willingboro, NJ. He is the son of the late Francis & Loretta Sadusky. A Millwright for the Carpenters & Joiners of America Local 1906 in Phila, he retired in 1992 after 50 years of service. He is a part owner and tow truck operator, "Tow Joe" of Eagle Auto Body in Medford and a member of the Kaiser Frazer Owners Club. He is a Veteran of the Army serving in the Korean war and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW Post 7677 of Medford. He is the beloved husband of Marilyn E. (Nee Williams) of Medford, NJ and the loving father of Joseph E. Jr. and his wife Jody of Eastampton, NJ, David J. of Marlton, NJ and Michael P. and his wife Bridget of Medford, NJ. EUGENIA SAKALAS passed away on July 19, 2003 at her home in Medford Lakes, NJ. She was 87 yrs. of age. Born in Poland, she is the daughter of the late Jacob and Ona Sakalauskas. On November 22, 2002, of Gibbsboro. Age 78. He is survived by his wife Eleanor L. Leonard was retired from PECO after 30 years of service as a Shift Supervisor Engineer. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Force as Staff Sergeant. JOHN SHOVER JR. "Dutchie" went home to the Lord suddenly on Monday, January 5th, 2004 at the Deborah Heart & Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ. He was 80 yrs. of age. Born in a farm house on Hemmelein Rd. in Medford, NJ, he has lived here his entire life. A local icon, he worked for 35 years at Foulkes Exxon on Rt. 70 as a Mechanic, Attendant and Acting Manager. He joined the Union Fire Co. in Medford Twp. in 1947 where he served as Fireman for 7 years and then as a Fire Policeman. He is a former Capt. Of the Fire Policemen and was honored for 50 years of consecutive service. He is a long time member of the Marlton United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Secretary and was Head Usher for 25 yrs. surpassing 5 ministers. He also belonged to the Methodist Men and was President 3 times. He is a member of the NJ Exempt Fireman, the Medford VFW 7677 and the Medford Businessman's Bowling League. John served his country as a signalman in the US Navy aboard the destroyer escort, USS Leslie B. Knox and was honored several years ago as the Medford Trend's Person of the Year and the Medford-Vincentown Rotary Citizen of the Year. He is the beloved husband of Florence A. (Nee Hiittner) Shover of Medford, NJ and the loving father of Ralph F. Shover and his girl friend Molly of Lake Dallas, TX, Debra M. Langoski and her boy friend Tim of Medford, NJ and Diane M. DeMore and her husband Thom of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Jason, Wayne & Rachael, Ronald, Adele & Matt, Pamela and Michael and his Great Granddaughter Hannah, his sister Lorna Giberson of Tabernacle, NJ and many nieces and nephews. MINERVA R. SHARP, 95, of LAKEWOOD, died Wednesday, June 9, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Kearny, she had lived in Oceanport before moving to Lakewood 31 years ago.

She was predeceased by her husband, Chester Sharp, in 1967. Surviving are eight nephews and their wives, Peter and Dorothy Robinson, James and Judy Robinson, Vincent and Bernie Robinson, Robert and Merethe Robinson, Richard and Ann Robinson, Richard Robinson, Welsey and Alice Yale, and Kenneth and Kathleen Yale; two nieces, Evonne and her husband, Kenneth Flynn, and Barbara Graves; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Robinson.
