Alan S. Baguskis

Alan S. "Al" Baguskis, 57, of Bethlehem Township, Hunterdon County, died Monday, February 26, 2007 in his home.

Born July 10, 1949 in Easton, Pa., he was a son of the late Alexander S. and Viola Burdge Baguskis.

In 1967, Al graduated from North Hunterdon Regional High School, then attended Churchman's Business School in Easton. While attending Churchman's, he worked part-time at the former Falk's Department Store in Pohatcong Twp.

As his career progressed, he became a teller at the Citizen's Bank in Bloomsbury and later became a vice-president of City Federal Savings Bank in Manhattan and also in Morristown, NJ. In 1987, Al wanted a career change and purchased the Rush's Meat Market in Lopatcong Township, which he owned and operated until 2000. In 1998, Al achieve his certified financial planner status and owned and operated Baguskis Financial Services from his home and formerly had an office in Milford, NJ. He continued his financial planning business from his home until his death.

Al was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bloomsbury and was a life member and former Captain of the Bloomsbury Rescue Squad. Al enjoyed the game of baseball and was a former member of the St. Philip and St. James Old Timers Softball League for many years. He also coached the Bethlehem Township Elementary School Baseball team and the Bethlehem Township Traveling Baseball team. He was a former commissioner and treasurer of the Hunterdon Huskies Football team for several years. At one time, Al was a member of the Ski Patrol in the Pocono Mountains.

Al and his wife, the former Jody S. Swauger, celebrated their eighteenth wedding anniversary January 14th.

In addition to his wife, Jody, Al is survived by his three sons, David Charles of Bethlehem Twp., and his girlfriend Heather Miller; Daniel Peter of Bethlehem Twp. and his girlfriend Anna Ramierz and Alexander S. at home; a brother, David W. and his wife Judy of Rutherfordton, North Carolina and a nephew, David Christopher Baguskis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday in the church, 66 Church Street, Bloomsbury. The Rev. Dr. Stephen Ross will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Phillipsburg and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services in the church.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations to either the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the A.L.S. Association, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, Pa. 19002-2755. www.alsphiladelphia.org, or to the Bloomsbury Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 22, Bloomsbury, NJ 08804-0022. Both organization meant a great deal to both Al and his family.

Charles Baker, Sr.

Charles Baker, Sr., 77, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, June 1, 2000 in Warren Hospital.

He was a storeroom clerk for the Cameron Division of Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsburg until his retirement in 1975.

Born December 4, 1922 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late William and Mary Page Baker.

He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union, Local 5503, Phillipsburg.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

He served in the United States Army as a Private First Class during World War Two. He received the Good Conduct Medal, World War Two Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal and the Germany Occupation Medal. He was assigned to the 1381st Army Air Force Base Unit, North Atlantic Wing Air Transport Command and with Headquarters Company Replacement Training Center at Fort Ord., California.

Mr. Baker and his wife, the former Blanche D. Andrews, would have observed their thirty-ninth wedding anniversary June 17th. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Joseph and William Rose of Phillipsburg, Charles Baker, Jr. of Milford, Conn., and Richard Baker of Allentown; three daughters, Lillian Rose of Easton, Jean Bogoly of Forks Twp., and Mary Moore or Martins Creek; a sister, Edith Thorp of Nazareth; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Four brothers, William, Paul, James and Daniel and four sisters, Rose Wenner, Shirley K. Storm, Margaret Steinson and Elizabeth Hutchison all died earlier

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Rev. John D. Kleist of the First Lutheran Church, Stewartsville will officiate the services. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours, 10:00 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home on Monday.

The family requests memorial to the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad, PO Box 215, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865-0215.

Ruth L. Ball

Ruth Lydia Ball, 81, of Phillipsburg, went home to our Lord, Monday, April 24, 2006 in Warren Hospital.

Born March 12, 1925 in Weatherly, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Cihilash Sube.

Her husband, the late Kenneth Ball passed away February 1, 1988.

She was employed as a presser at Eastern Overall for twenty years. She loved life, gardening, reading and her pet dog, Dee-Dee and was an avid NASCAR fan of Jeff Gorden.

Ruth was a member of the River of God Fellowship, Easton.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth D. and his wife Charlene of Holland Township, NJ, Clinton, Sr. and his wife Rosemary of Martins Creek, Pa, and Irvin, Sr. and his wife Katheryn of Phillipsburg, NJ; a daughter, Sandra Minchin and her husband Larry of Easton, Pa; two sisters, Pearl Kaye and Sylvia Hoffman; a brother, Fred Sube, all of Weatherly, Pa; seven grandchildren, Irvin Ball, Lonnie Ball and his wife Lisa, Halli Gudzinas and her husband Jim, Clinton Ball Jr. and his wife Cindy, Carol Van Horn and her husband Leonard, Ruthann Edinger, and Joseph D. Edinger; nine great-grandchildren, Berlynn and Taylor Gudzinas, Nicole Free, Antoinette and Clinton Ball, III, Elizabeth and Leonard Van Horn, III, Hailey Rustay and Collin Edinger. Two brothers, Howard and Daniel, and three sisters, Mary Ellen Hinkle, Lucille Koloski, and Martha Coxe, all died earlier.

Services will be held 10:00 a.rn. Thursday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the Phillipsburg cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donation to the church, 813 Reynolds Street Easton, Pa 18042.

Gordon C. Balliet

Gordon C. Balliet, Sr., 48, of Reading, formerly of Phillipsburg, died Monday, February 14, 2000 in his home.

He was a truck driver for the City of Reading.

Born August 23, 1951 in Fountain Hill, Pa., he is the son of Caroline T. Pruzinsky Balliet of Phillipsburg and the late Gordon P. Balliet.

He was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Gordon C., Jr., of Phillipsburg and a daughter, Kristal Balliet of Northampton, Pa.; a brother Dennis of Bath and a sister Terry Trach of Phillipsburg.

Private cremation and interment of the cremated remains will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours or services. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will accept memorial contributions, sent to them in care of the funeral home.

Christina M. Barra

Christina M. "Tina" Barra, 39, of Phillipsburg, formerly of Bayonne, NJ, died peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2007 in Warren Hospital. Christina's family supported her through two long-fought battles with cancer and was with her when she passed.

Tina was a caring person by nature and it showed in her work as a certified nursing assistant at the Phillipsburg Center, where she worked for the past five years.

Born November 13, 1967 in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of Frank Fischer of Phillipsburg and the late Marjorie Dawes Fischer.

She attended St. Philips and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

She enjoyed shooting pool with the Women's Monday Night Pool League, Phillipsburg.

Tina is survived by three sons, Daniel A. Barra of Saylorsburg, Pa.; Michael A. Barra and Mark A. Fischer, both at home; two brothers, John of Phillipsburg and Thomas and his wife Cathy of Lopatcong Twp.; a sister, Barbara Fischer of Bayonne; several nieces and nephews and a close family friend, Laura Ricciardi of Phillipsburg.

Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of services Sunday in the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to make a donation to the family, in care of the funeral home.

Ethel Bartha

Ethel Bartha, 86, of Bath, formerly of Alpha, NJ, died Friday, October 17, 1997 in the Easton Nursing Center.

She was a retired seamstress and had worked for M.M. Bernstein, Easton.

Born March 26, 1911 in Martins Creek, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Horvath Kozare.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alpha.

She was a member of the Golden Age Club and the Altar Roasary Society, both of St. Mary's Church. She was a member of the John Dolak American Legion Post 446 Ladies's Auxiliary in Alpha, the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Local 234 and the Hunterdon County Y.M.C.A.

Her husband, the late John Bartha died April 20, 1968.

Survivors include a brother, William J. Kozare of Phillipsburg; four sisters, Agnes Drosdick of Port Richie, Fla, Julia Conver of Naperville, Ill, Anne Kozare of South Plainfield, NJ and Mary Helene Curtis of Bath and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Joseph, Frank, Ernest and a sister, Theresa Vargo all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m. Tuesday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 830 Fifth Ave, Alpha. A calling hour will be held 8:15 a.m. to time of services in the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Alpha Presbyterian Church cemetery , Alpha.

Joseph J. Bartolotta, Jr.

Joseph J. Bartolotta, Jr., 72, of Quakertown, PA, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, died Mon., May 11, 1998 in Houston, TX after a lengthy illness.

Born Sept., 5, 1925 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph J., Sr., and Theresa Merlo Bartolotta, who immigrated from Santo Stefano, Messina, Italy.

After graduating from St. Philip and St. James Catholic High School, Joseph served in the Army during World War Two.

On February 20, 1960, Joseph and his wife, the former Joan Wilsdon were united in marriage in St. Raphael's Parish in Queens, NY. The love, respect and devotion they shared has always provided a source of strength for their family.

After moving to Connecticut, they were blessed with three sons, Joseph, III, Michael and Brian who survive and love their father and will always cherish his memory. Joseph and Joan later moved to Quakertown, PA where they raised their children and currently reside. Joseph, III, his wife, the former Erin Coogan and their children, Elizabeth, Emily and Joseph George now reside in Wilton, Conn.; Michael resides in Houston, TX and Brian resides in Wilmington, DE.

Although Joseph enjoyed various positions in his business career, he was most noted for his serving as a regional vice president for the Cleveland Steel Container Corp. in Quakertown, from which he retired in 1992.

A member of St. Isadore's Catholic Church in Quakertown, he was also honored to be a Third Degree member of the Cardinal Stritch Council 4649, Knights of Columbus and a member of the Wallace W. Keller American Legion Post 242, both located in Quakertown.

He will be greatly missed for his love and uncompromising devotion as a husband, father and grandfather. Joseph was predeceased by his two beloved brothers, Anthony C., formerly of Naperville, Ill. and George Bartolotta, formerly of Phillipsburg.

Joseph's family will receive relatives and friends during the visitation hours on Friday, May 15, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m and again on Saturday, May 16, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. in St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will take place in St. Philip and St. James cemetery in Greenwich Twp.

Joan and her family request that those wishing to make memorial contributions, do so to the benefit of cancer research, in Joseph's name, care of MD Anderson Hospital, PO Box 297153, Houston, TX 77297.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at the Church of Saint Vincent de Paul in Houston.

Eleanor Bauder

Eleanor Bauder, 89, of Lower Nazareth Twp., died Friday, September 10, 2004 in Easton Hospital.

Born June 21, 1915 in Jutland, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Edgar Sylvester and Jennie Marian Kimenhour Bellis.

She was of the presbyterian faith.

Her husband of 32 years, the late Edwin Bauder died in 1982.

She was raised and lived in Hunterdon County most of her life until 1958, when she and her husband moved to Phillipsburg. She has resided at Gracedale the past few years.

She formerly worked at Dixie Cup in Wilson Borough.

She is survived by two nephews, John Stevenson, Jr. Vineyard Haven, Mass. and Lynn Bellis of Milford, N.J.; three grand nephews and a grand niece. A brother Frank and a sister, Vilma Stevenson both died earlier.

Chester Beam

Chester "Chet" Beam, 59, of Phillipsburg, died Monday, April 9, 2007 in Warren Hospital.

He formerly worked at 7-11 in Phillipsburg.

Born June 27, 1947 in Califon, NJ, he was a son of the late Simon Jr. and Mabel Howell Beam.

He was a Marine Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association of America, Lehigh Valley Chapter 415 and was a member of the National Guard, Phillipsburg. He was also a member of the Phillipsburg Fire Company Number 1.

He is survived by two sons, Darryl A. of Macungie and Brian S. of Phillipsburg; two daughters, Shanna R. of Allentown and Heather L. of Phillipsburg; a brother, Samuel of Washington, NJ; a sister, Elizabeth Santella of Washington, NJ and ten grandchildren. A sister, Marcella Ferri and a granddaughter Desiree both died earlier.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Bloomsbury cemetery , Bloomsbury. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the arrangements.

Grace C. Beatty

Grace Clara Beatty, 94, of Lopatcong Township, died Monday, January 28, 2008 in the Brakeley Center.

She was a wrapper at the former Sanco Piece Dye Works in Phillipsburg, was a packer for Transogram in Easton and also worked at Riccardi's in Alpha, NJ.

Born May 5, 1913 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Susanna Sigafoos Beatty.

Grace was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lopatcong Township, where she sang in the choir.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and their families. She was pre-deceased by three brother, William, Gilbert and Charles and three sisters, Eleanor S. Roseberry, Bertha and Idabelle Beatty,

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Bloomsbury cemetery.

Paul D. "Dink" Beatty

Paul D. "Dink" Beatty, 82, of Lopatcong Twp., died Monday, November 15, 1999 in Holland Twp.

He began his insurance career in 1945 and was an insurance agent and field manager for the former Colonial Life Insurance Co in Easton before he was advanced to the position of branch manager of their office in Allentown from 1960 until his retirement in 1979.

Born September 16, 1917 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Michael and Pearl Hawk Beatty.

He graduated Phillipsburg High School in 1935. He was also a graduate of Life Underwriting Training Council, parts I and II and Health and of several company courses in Management and Insurance.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Greenwich Twp. where he was a former Council member for five years.

He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army, having served from 1940 to 1945. He was also awarded the Purple Heart.

He was past president of the Easton and Vicinity Life Underwriters Association and of the General Agent's and Managers Association in Allentown. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Association of Life Underwriters.

He was a past Exalted Ruler of Phillipsburg Elks Lodge #395, and a past Trustee of the lodge's Antlers Home Association Phillipsburg, NJ. He had also served as chairman of the Elks Crippled Children's Committee, Entertainment committee and Membership Committee.

He was a past president of the Oak Hill Golf Club in Holland Twp in 1969.

He was a life member of the Huntington Fire Department in Pohatcong Twp., NJ.

His wife, the former Doris "Dottie" Wanamaker died January 29, 1974. He is survived by a son, Larry D. of Bethlehem Twp. Pa, a daughter Nancy M. Meilinger of Palmer Twp., a sister, Marie Meglic of Palmer Twp. and five grandchildren. He is also survived by a companion, Margaret Gardiner of Holland Twp. A grandson died earlier.

Funeral services will held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery in Phillipsburg. Calling hours will be held Monday from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions to the charity of one's choice.

Dorothy M. Beck

Dorothy Mary Beck, 76, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, July 6, 1997 in Warren Hospital.

She was a cook at the Spring Garden Childrens Home in Easton until 1991. She previously worked as a cook at the former Garden Nursing Home, Phillipsburg.

Born December 9, 1920 in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Harrison S., Sr. and Claire Antoinette Ryan Shull.

She was a former member of the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church in Phillipsburg.

She was also a member of the Easton Moose Lodge and was a past secretary for the Howell School P.T.A. in Phillipsburg.

Her husband, the late Harry Martin Beck died in 1968.

She is survived by two sons; Jerry Grube and Randy Beck, both of Phillipsburg; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Harrison Jr., died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery , Phillipsburg.

The family requests memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice.
