Hassfeld, Charles T

CHARLES T. HASSFELD, 85, of LITTLE SILVER died Tuesday, June 24 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. He attended Alabama University in the '30s, followed by service to his country during World War II. He rose to the rank of major and was in charge of the construction of several airfields in the island campaigns in the Pacific. After the war he worked for D.O. Evans of Hillside. In the early '70s he established New Construction Inc., Cranford, from which he retired in the early '90s after a lifetime in the business. Born in Dover, he lived in Summit before moving to Little Silver 37 years ago.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Marjorie Wolf Hassfeld; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James of Middletown, and Robert and Sheryl of Oceanport; and one granddaughter, Jennie.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 12 at St John's Episcopal Church, Little Sliver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. John's Upper Room Fund, 325 Little Silver Point Road, Little Silver, NJ 07739. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements.

Hatcher, Sr., Jack Frank

Jack Frank Hatcher Sr., 70, of Whitesboro, died Friday, March 29, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was born in Margaret Mace Hospital in Wildwood and was a lifetime resident here. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He attended Christ Gospel Church in Whitesboro.

Mr. Hatcher is survived by his son, Jack Frank Hatcher, Jr. of Miami, FL; his brothers, Jack Frank Hatcher, Jerome Hatcher, Lloyd Hatcher, James Hatcher, Albert Hatcher, Samuel Hatcher, Thomas Hatcher, Andrew Hatcher, and Charles Hatcher; and his sisters, Minnie Hogan, Anne Brown, Bertha Jackson, Tressa Hatcher, and Ruth Hatcher.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2002 at 12 noon at the Christ Gospel Church, George and Anna Streets, Whitesboro, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Interment is private.

Hatter, James L.

HATTER on July 14, 2003 James L. of Cherry Hill since 1974, age 67. Beloved husband of Ruth J. Hatter (nee Julian) Devoted father of Karen H. and her husband Skip Cowen of Bethlehem, PA, James H. Hatter and his wife Jennifer of Medford and the late Kurt E. Hatter. Loving grandfather of Katie, Evan and Grace Cowen and Hannah, Scotland and Skyler Hatter. Dear brother of Marjorie Fessler and Jane Storace. Born in Pine Grove, PA, Mr. Hatter was raised in Rome, NY and was also a resident of Silver Spring, MD. He was a property manager in the private sector from 1959-1967 and in 1967 began working for the Housing and Urban Development in Washington DC and Philadelphia,PA. Prior to his retirement in March of 1996, he was employed with the Dept of Defense, Navy Housing in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Hatter was also an active member of the Old Orchard United Methodist Church in Cherry Hill. Hatter, Ruth J.

HATTER, RUTH J. (nee Julian) on Nov. 30, 2004 of Cherry Hill for 30 years. Beloved wife of the late James L. Hatter. Devoted mother of James H. and his wife Jennifer of Medford, Karen Cowen and her husband Malcolm of Bethlehem, PA and the late Kurt Hatter. Loving grandmother of Katie, Hannah, Evan, Grace, Scotland and Skyler. Dear sister of David Julian and his wife Debbie of Centreville, MD. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. Prior to retirement, Ruth was employed at Warner Electra and Atlantic Records and Tapes for 20 years. HAUBENSTEIN, John J. 'Jack', on December 8, 2008, of Medford NJ. Age 75. Beloved husband of Amelia Haubenstein (nee Perla). Loving father of Kurt and Linda Haubenstein and Mark and Therese Haubenstein. Dear grandfather of Ryan, Shawn and Caitlin. He is the brother of Leon Haubenstein, Joanne Zappacosta and the late Donald Haubenstein. A US NAVY veteran, he attended Drexel University and graduated from Temple University. Mr. Haubenstein was a retired engineer and Vice President for Consarc Corp., Rancocas NJ. Along with his wife, he was owner and operator of Alden of New Jersey Inc., Pennsauken NJ. Hauch, Jr., John P.

HAUCH, JOHN P. JR., on June 20, 2005, age 79, peacefully in his sleep at home in Stone Harbor, NJ, where he had summered for more than 40 years. Mr. Hauch was born in Philadelphia and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He attended Texas A & M and graduated from Dickenson College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He married Elizabeth Jones and practiced law at the firm of Archer & Greiner in Haddonfield, the largest firm in southern New Jersey, where he later served as president and chairman of the board. For over 40 years he litigated in many areas, including antitrust, environmental, and media law. In 1977, in the Supreme Court of the United.States, he argued and won the landmark commercial speech case of Linmark v. Willingboro. Mr. Hauch celebrated many other victories in federal and state courts at the trial and appellate levels. He was a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, as well as the ABA, the Anti-Trust and Banking Sections of the NJ Bar Association, the Camden County Bar Association, and the Association of Railroad Lawyers.

Mr. Hauch resided for many years in Moorestown, NJ and retired to Naples, Florida. A man of much activity and many interests, he was an avid golfer, gardener, traveler, and reader, an animal lover, as well as in younger years an enthusiastic fisherman, sailor, tennis player, and skier.

Mr. Hauch is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Jones Hauch, and beloved daughter Jeanne M. Hauch, also known as Mrs. R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia and many loving friends and relatives.

Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of his life on Friday, June 24, starting at 1:30 p.m. with service at 2 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ, with a gathering immediately following at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor.

HAUSWALD, Arthur C. on October 25, 2004, of Moorestown NJ, formerly of Oak Park and Chicago IL. Age 85. Beloved husband of the late Ceil S. Hauswald (nee Savageau). Loving father of Richard and his wife, Suzanne of Marlton NJ, James of Chicago IL and the late Gary Hauswald. Dear brother of Charles A. Hauswald Jr. of Wheeling IL and the late Dorothy Hauswald and dear grandfather of Jeffrey and Erica. Mr. Hauswald was born and raised in Oak Park IL, a graduate of IIT with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a veteran of the US Air Force serving during WWII. He worked his entire life in Chicago as a Structural Engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad, A. Epstein & Sons, Perkins & Will and retired from Harza Inc. He was a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. HAWKINS, on August 11, 2001, Emma L. (Nee Jagdman) of Voorhees, NJ, formerly of Oaklyn, NJ and Camden, NJ. Age 85 yrs. Wife of the late Thomas L. Hawkins Sr. Beloved mother of Leonard Hawkins of Atco, NJ, John Hawkins and his wife Livia of Mantua, NJ, and Louise Muhlack of Pennsauken, NJ. Also survived by her daughter-in-law Marie Hawkins of Oaklyn, NJ and also 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. She is the mother of the late Gerald Hawkins. Born in Oaklyn, NJ, she resided in Voorhees, NJ for the past 6 months moving here from Oaklyn where she resided for 10 years and Camden, NJ. She is a former member of the Asbury UMC where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible Schooland was a member of the United Methodist Woman. Hawkins, Loretta Keith

Loretta Keith Hawkins, 74, of Whitesboro, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, October 31, 2002. She was born in Currie, NC and lived there before moving to Pittsburgh. She moved here in 1949. She was a member of Holy Temple Church of Christ in Whitesboro. She was very active in the church. Though she was blind, she lived by faith, not by sight. She loved everyone around her.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Bruce of Chicago, IL, Gloria Williams of New Brunswick, Tony Gunter of New Brunswick, and Waymon Hawkins, Jr. of Whitesboro; her sisters, Ivory Bell Corbett of Currie, NC, Almae O. Bryant of Wilmington, NC, Alice Blackmon of Mays Landing and Irene Alston of Whitesboro; her brothers, Lacy M. Keith of Whitesboro, and Ernest Keith, Sr. of Clinton, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waymon Hawkins, Sr. in 1965.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Gospel Church, George and Anna Streets, Whitesboro, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Household of Ruth cemetery, Whitesboro. Hawkins, Sr., Harvey Leonard

Harvey Leonard Hawkins, Sr., 59, of Whitesboro, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Elsmere, DE. Born in North Wildwood to Waymon and the late Fredrina (Ellis) Hawkins, he was a lifetime resident of this area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro and Jesus was his hobby. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Christine (nee Warner); his father, Waymon Hawkins; his sons, Harvey Hawkins, Jr., David Hawkins, and Waymon Hawkins, IV; and a host of grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Main Street and Route 9, Whitesboro, where viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. There will not be a final viewing after the service. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.

Hayes, Julia E.

HAYES, Julia E. (nee Yaeger) On November 21, 2007 of Marlton, NJ. Age 67. Julia is survived by her loving and devoted friend Dr. Luigi Sera. She will truly be missed by many loving friends, colleagues, and students. Julia was a Latin teacher at Cherry Hill East for over thirty-five years. She was a member of the Cherry Hill East Latin Club, New Jersey Latin Teacher's Association and the Markeim Art Center in Haddonfield. Hayes, Charles J.

Charles J. Hayes, age 88 of Long Branch died August 12, 2005 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. He was a dedicated manager for Foodtown, in West End retiring in 2004. Prior to working for Foodtown, he was a chemical operator for National Lead Company in Perth Amboy. He was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. Born in New York, he was a life resident of Long Branch.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Ann R. McGeehan Hayes; two sons, Robert J. Hayes of Ocean Township and Richard C. Hayes of Forked River; a daughter, Mary Jane Waldrop of Long Branch; three grandchildren and a great grand-daughter.

Visitations will be held at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. Long Branch on Wednesday, August 17, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Long Branch. Hays, Herbert M.

HAYS, Herbert M. on October 10, 2009, of Avalon NJ. Age 79. He was a longtime summer resident of Avalon, moving there permanently in 2001 from Cherry Hill NJ. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of Hays Sheet Metal Inc. in Pennsauken NJ. He enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his family. Despite a lengthy illness, he never lost his smile and optimism. He is the beloved husband of Mary C. (nee Fitzgerald) Hays. Loving father of Kenneth (Pam), Richard (Laurie), Michael (Debbie) and Nancy D'Alessandro (Thomas). Dear grandfather of Thomas, Christina, Brian, Cale, Alexa, Caitlin, Jason and Stephanie and great grandfather of Scott, Zachary and Lilly and a brother, Robert Hays (Charlotte). He was a former member of the Sheet Metal Contractors Assoc. of Phila., a past Worshipful Master of the Medford Masonic Lodge #178 and a Master Mason for over 50 years. Heald, Kevin J.

Kevin J. Heald, passed away Suddenly on Wednesday, March 10th, 2004 in Shamong, NJ. He was 22 yrs. of age. Born in Marlton, NJ, he is the Beloved son of John A. and Ruth Heald and has lived in Medford for the entire life. A graduate of Shawnee High School, class of 1998 he went on to receive his BS in Psychology in 2003 from Elon University in Elon, NC. In addition to his parents he is survived by his brothers Stephen, Alexander and Mason all of Medford, NJ. Funeral services were held at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd. Hearl, Sylvia

Sylvia Hearl, 88, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2002 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. She was born in Philadelphia and lived in Upper Darby, PA before moving here 12 years ago. She worked in administrative records at the University of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cape May Court House. She was very involved with AARP and 55 Alive. She was also very active in the county activities and politics.

Mrs. Hearl is survived by her daughter, Shirley Kille and her husband, George of Stone Harbor; her three granddaughters, Nancy and her husband, Bruce, Barbara and her husband, Joe, and Beth and her husband, Larry; her ten great grandchildren; her three great great grandchildren; her sister in law, Marion Cleary; and her nieces and nephews, Margaret McKinney, Edward Cleary, Marion Cummings, and James Cleary and their families.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Route 9 and Church Street, Cape May Court House. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 1 Church Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Hearne, James J

On April 19, 2005 of Barrington, NJ age 75 yrs. Loving husband of Sylvia E. (Nee. MacIntyre). Devoted father of Robert P. and Nancy L. Hearne. Dear grandfather of Taylor, Courtney, and Elizabeth. Mr. Hearne was born and raised in Barrington. For over 32 yrs he worked for the Barrington Post Office as a Letter Carrier and Clerk. After retirement, Mr. Hearne drove a school bus for the Haddon Heights Board of Education and later became a crossing guard for Barrington. Mr. Hearne was a past Fire Chief and life long member of the Barrington Volunteer Fire Company. In 1986 Mr. Hearn was appointed Councilman to the Borough of Barrington. Mr. Hearne was a devout member of St. Francis de Sales Church, a Barrington Little League Coach and a member of the Barrington Historical Society.
