Maro, Michael D.

Michael D. Maro, 85, beloved father, grandfather and friend of Avalon, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2006. Michael's beloved wife of fifty years, Josephine, passed away ten years ago and he spoke of her daily. Michael took great joy in fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He served in the Air Force during WWII. After the war, he worked for many years in the garment industry eventually retiring from Cone Mills and moved to his home in Avalon, NJ.

He is survived by a son, William L. and daughter-in-law Catherine; granddaughters Meghan and Lauren; a brother, Peter and his wife, Ellie; a sister, Rose Ortaglia and her husband, Gene. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Lisa, Peter, Bill, Laura and Diane and by his grand-nieces and nephews. Michael's friends and family mourn his passing and will miss his presence terribly. The Funeral Liturgy was said at Maris Stella Church on August 1, 2006.

MAROTA, Thomas J.

On July 27, 2008. Of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Age 67. Beloved husband of Germaine (nee Liberatore). Loving father of Michelle Smolka of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, James Marota and his fiancée Melanie Patel of Lansdale, PA and Nicole Marota of Mt. Laurel. Devoted grandfather of Riley, Sydnee and Shelby. Mr. Marota was born in Phila. and raised in Rockledge, PA. He worked for the Social Security Administration in Phila. for 37 years and was a member of Knights of Columbus. Viewing 7-9pm Wednesday at the BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, Rt 73 & Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ. There will also be a viewing 9:30-11am Thursday at the Church of St. Mary, 2001 Springdale Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial 11am Thursday at the Church. Interment Holy Cross Cem., Yeadon, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr, Marlton, NJ 08053.

Marotta, Sally "Sarina" M.

Sally "Sarina" M. Marotta (nee Toscano) died November 1, 2009 at her son Raymond's home in Cape May Court House, New Jersey after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer over the past four years.

Sally was born and raised in the "duck town" section of Atlantic City and took great pride in her traditional Italian roots and her Atlantic City heritage. Sally loved people and was loved by many. She opened her heart at home and would always make people feel welcomed and special. Sally graduated Atlantic City High School in 1948. She worked as an artist on the boardwalk in Jimmy Penlin's studio for many years. For over 26 years, she worked at "Talk of the Walk" as a sales person.

In 1956, she married Raymond J. Marotta, Sr. of Philadelphia where he worked as a Navy machinist. Besides her husband, she is survived by her three sons Raymond J. Marotta, Jr., M.D. (Mary) of Cape May Court House, NJ, Rev. Michael Marotta, CRM, pastor of Saint Joseph church in Lodi, New Jersey and Stephen P. Marotta PhD of Matawan, New Jersey (Sonya). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Danielle, Jennifer, Paul, Julia and Luke and her sister, Grace Cerrone of Philadelphia and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Carmella Geraldine, and her brothers Anthony, Rosario, Salvatore, Joseph, and Peter Toscano.

Sally was a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church in Margate, New Jersey and belonged to the Sons of Italy. On Sally's behalf, we extend special thanks to Dr. David Wasrhall, Dr. Nazah and his excellent compassionate staff, Care Alternatives Hospice, and Synergy Home Care, and many friends and family that gave of themselves unselfishly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Adorno Fathers, 575 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey, New Jersey 07644 would be very much appreciated.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 11 North Kenyon Avenue, Margate, New Jersey on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the Mass between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Atlantic County Veterans cemetery.

Marotta, Raymond J.

Marotta, Raymond J. "Ray", 86, died peacefully on December 15th, 2009 at the Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland after a prolonged illness. Ray joins his beloved wife Sally, who is recently deceased in the presence of the Lord. Ray was born on Isemenger Street in South Philadelphia. Before graduating South Philadelphia High School, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. During World War II he prided himself as a "tin can" sailor, serving as a gunners mate on a destroyer. He fought in every major Pacific battle of WWII. After the war he remained in the Navy changing his rate to Machinery Repairman on destroyer tenders until his naval retirement in 1963. He served in the Seabees in Scotland, spent a year in China, visited the pyramids of Egypt, and even had an opportunity to teach basic machinery repair for plebes at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.

In 1956 Ray married the love of his life, Sally who was from Atlantic City. They settled in Margate City where they raised their family. After his naval retirement he worked briefly for Soltz Paint then spent 20 as an advertising salesman for the Atlantic City Press.

Ray is survived by his three sons, Raymond J. (Mary) Marotta Jr., MD of Cape May Court House, Rev. Michael Marotta, CRM, Pastor of St. Joseph Church in Lodi, NJ, and Stephan P. (Sonya), PhD of Mattawan, NJ; and his brother Camillo "Marty" (Mary) Marotta of Blackwood. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Danielle, Jennifer, Paul, Julia, and Luke. Ray is predeceased by his wife Sally, his brother Carmen and sisters, Mary, Ann, Francis, and Millie.

Ray was a parishioner at The Blessed Sacrament Church in Margate where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and also served as a Grand Knight in Margate. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association of Atlantic County where he was a past president. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy. Ray will never be forgotten for his keen sense of humor and great South Jersey tomatoes. He was kind and compassionate to the people he loved and served throughout his life. As a father and grandfather he was the best.

On Ray's behalf we extend special thanks to the "Angels" at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home and the many friends and family that gave of themselves unselfishly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, 524 Northwest Blvd., Vineland, NJ 08360 or the Adorno Fathers, 575 Darlington Ave., Ramsey, NJ 07644 would be very much appreciated.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at The Blessed Sacrament Church, 11 North Kenyon Ave., Margate, NJ 08402 on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private at the Atlantic County Veterans cemetery.

MARPLE, Jennie M. (nee Lionelli)

On September 27, 2008. Age 66. Of Cherry Hill, NJ. Beloved wife of Lawrence R. Marple, Jr. (Larry). Loving mother of Jen Davis and Jill Marple-Blong, MD (James). Devoted grandmother of Sabrina, Sam, Bernadette and Julia. Beloved daughter of Gilda Lionelli and the late Louis Lionelli and sister of Linda Regan (Edward, Jr.). Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing 6-9pm Wednesday at the BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, Rt 73 & Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ. Marra, William "Willie"

WILLIAM "WILLIE" MARRA, 76, of Oakhurst, OCEAN TOWNSHIP, died Sunday, Dec. 28, at home. He was a butcher for Dearborn Farms, Holmdel, for the past 15 years. He had also worked for Nannini's Food Market, West Long Branch, Fred's Meat Market, Marra's Meat Market and Mia's Market, all Long Branch. He was a member of the Eatontown Elks; the Neptune Hose Company of the Long Branch Fire Department; and the Poplar Village Seniors Citizens. He served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army. Born in Long Branch, he had been a lifelong area resident.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mary De Santis. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Susan Marra of West Long Branch; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert Roxey of Oakhurst; two brothers, Frank Marra of Oceanport, and Pat Anastasio of Long Branch; a sister, Barbara Aschettino of West Long Branch; and four grandchildren, Tamie, Bobby, Marion and April Rose.

Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Damiano Funeral Home, Third and Franklin avenues, Long Branch, with a funeral service to begin at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Marra, Mary A. Juliano

Mary A. Juliano Marra, age 86 of Long Branch died Saturday, January 31, at St Barnabas Hospice Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch and a member of the Holy Trinity Seniors. Born in Long Branch, she was a life resident. She was predeceased by her husband Vito W. Marra, Sr. in 1993. Surviving is a son and daughter in law, Vito W. and Donna Marra of Oceanport; two daughters and two sons in law, Joan and David Gordon of Long Branch, Patricia and Ralph Saitta of Long Branch; five grandchildren, Arthur Addeo, Lori Michaels, Michael Marra, Elizabeth Marra, Christina Marra, and four great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, corner of Third Ave, Long Branch, on Monday, February 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral, Tuesday 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Mass at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment will follow at Woodbine cemetery, Oceanport.

Marrero, Giovanni Yoxan

Giovanni Yoxan Marrero, infant son of Magaly Negron and Jonathan Marrero of Cape May Court House, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Cape Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 17, 2009 at Cape Regional Medical Center. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Jonathan Marrero, Jr.; his grandparents, Annette Ramos, Wilfredo Negron, and Sofia Rivera; and his great grandparents, Julia Rivera and Luz Ramos.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Cold Spring Presbyterian cemetery.

MARRON, JAMES J., SR.

Marsello, Philomena M. Jannucci

Philomena M. Jannucci Marsello, age 88 of Long Branch died Sunday, May 20 at home. She was a parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End, Long Branch. Born in Elizabeth, she moved to Long Branch in 1951. She was predeceased by her husband, John Marsello in 1993. Surviving is a son and daughter in law, Vincent and Vi Marsello of Fountain Hills, AZ; a daughter, Phyllis Marsello of Long Branch; four sisters, Ann Agrios, Grace Conover and Gloria Jannucci, all of Long Branch and Philomena King of Union Beach; two grandchildren, Terri Bracken and Michael Marsello; and four great grandchildren, Kelli, Taylor, Michael and Jordan.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 22 from 2- 4 and 7-9 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, on the corner of Third Ave, Long Branch. Funeral Wednesday, 9:30 am from funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Michael's R.C. Church, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.

Marshall, Edgar Butch

Edgar "Butch" Marshall, 50 of Asbury Park died on June 6 at home. He was driver for JBI Transportation in Neptune. He was a graduate of Long Branch High School and attended Miami Dade Community College in Miami, FL. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Born in Miami FL, he lived in Long Branch prior to moving to Asbury Park.

Left to mourn are his mother and step father, Selena Williams and Leroy Williams Sr.; four sisters, Victoria Queenan, Philadelphia, PA, Barbara Rainey, Bronx, NY, Paula Moore, Los Angeles, CA and Anita Bryant, Asbury Park, NJ; two brothers, Ronald Moore, Pittsburgh, PA and Leroy Williams, Jr., Linden, NJ; and two aunts, Marian Overby and Myrtle Jones both of Long Branch, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Funeral procession will leave from the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., Long Branch, NJ on Friday morning at 10:15 am. Funeral services with military honors will be held at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran Memorial cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ at 11:30 am.

Marsico, Alfonso

Alfonso Marsico, age 76 of Eatontown died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a retired Tailor having worked for Macy's and Braddock's in Eatontown. He was a member of the Long Branch Old Guard. Born in Miglierina, Provincia Di Catanzaro Calabria, Italy he had lived in Long Branch before coming to Eatontown, 3 years ago.

Surviving is his wife, Rae Torchia Marsico; three sisters, Antoinette Marsico Senatore of Bayonne; Raffaella Marsico Crisciotti, Rome, Italy; Filomena Marsico Graziano, Buenos Aires, Argentina; two brothers, Benito Marsico of Gronau, Germany and Santo Marsico of Miglierinoa, Italy; and many nieces and nephews in the United States, Italy, Germany and Argentina. Visitation will be at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.) on Friday, June 3, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00. Funeral Saturday, 9:00 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel cemetery.

Martell, Josephine

Josephine Martell(nee Cellucci)of Pennsauken age 86 years died on Tuesday December 10, 2002 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Cherry Hill, NJ. She was wife of the late, William. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Martell and her husband Paul Johnson and a son, William R. Martell. Two sisters, Recina Caruso and Antoinette Cellucci and two brothers, Salvatore and Vincent Cellucci. Also survived by many loving Nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral on Friday December 13, 2002 from 8:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road in Pennsauken, NJ. Nicholas Martell of Merchantville, NJ. died Tuesday at the age of 63. Loving Pop Pop to Tyler, Kaitlyn, Dominic and Vincent. Mary V. Martelli age 79 of Long Branch died Monday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

She was a Seamstress for Century Sportswear, Long Branch for 10 years, retiring 15 years ago.

Born in Long Branch, she lived in Asbury Park before moving to Long Branch 7 years ago.

She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, Asbury Park

She was a member of I.L.G.W.U.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony C. Martelli in 2001, her parents, Raymond and Carmella Puppo Rubino; her step father, Louis Calarco and sister, Rose Fleming.

Surviving is a sister and brother in law, Georgette & Bob Gant, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved by all and will be missed.

Martello, Catherine S.

CATHERINE S. MARTELLO (Nee Manton), passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Samaritan Inpatient Center in Mt. Holly, NJ. She was 85. Born in Phila, PA, she has resided in Leisuretowne, Southampton, NJ since 1999 moving there from Mt. Laurel, NJ. A former Assembly Line Worker for American Catheter in Medford, NJ, she was also a volunteer for the Helping Hands. Catherine is the Beloved wife of John A. Martello and the Loving Mother of Dr. Anna Marie Lange and her husband George of Berlin, MD and Patricia A. Slim and her husband Steven of Atco, NJ. She is also survived by her two Granddaughters Nicole M. Martin and her husband George of Berlin, NJ and Alyson L. Slim of Atco, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Tabernacle Rd. Tabernacle, NJ where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Mt. Laurel cemetery. Martin, Mattie Mae

Mattie Mae Martin, "Nana", 81, of Whitesboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Court House Convalescent Center. Born in Delmar, MD to the late Robert and Frances Woodland, she moved to Whitesboro over 50 years ago from Philadelphia. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro where she was a member of many Church Auxiliaries. Her favorite task was sitting on the usher board and giving out orders. She was employed at the Country House Restaurant, the Cape Regional Bistro, and the Whitesboro Community Center. She enjoyed bingo. She was also a member of The Golden Girls: dining, traveling and just plain socializing.

Mrs. Martin was predeceased by her husband, Harry Martin, Sr. and her daughter, Shirley Rowell. She is survived by her stepchildren, Harry Jr. (Marilyn) of Florida, Marshall "Fuzzy" (Vicky) of Mays Landing, Antory of Collingswood, and Alberta of Baltimore, MD; her grandchildren, Robert Sr. (Maria) of Woodbine, Vernon, Sr. of Rio Grande, and Shirlene (Andrew); her great grandchildren, Danielle (Kevin) of Whitesboro, Ebony of Wildwood, Oley of Maryland, and Vernon, Jr. of Wildwood; and her great great grandchildren, Bryanna, Janiya, Kiara, and Jada.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Main St. and Route 9, Whitesboro, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. There will be no final viewing. Interment will be in Household of Ruth cemetery, Whitesboro. Memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas TX 75231.
