John S. Ference, Sr.

John S. Ference, Sr., 91, of Phillipsburg, died Monday in Warren Hospital.

He was a welder for Ingersoll-Rand, South Side, Easton.

Born September 16, 1907 in Catasaugua, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna Burda Ference.

He was a member of St. Philip and St, James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

He and his wife, the former Mary Theresa Bilder observed their seventy-first wedding anniversary on July 9th.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John S. Jr., of Alpha; a daughter, Marie Regemann of Easton, four sisters, Mary Ferack of Allentown, Elizabeth Mondjack and Anna Schwenk, both of Whitehall and Katherine Nederostiek of Philadelphia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A son, Richard, a daughter Jeanette and four brothers, Andrew, Steven, Paul and Michael A., Sr. all died earlier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. today in St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. Private cremation will follow the Mass. There will be no calling hours.

The family requests memorial contributions to the Church, 430 South Main St., Phillipsburg.

The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the funeral arrangements.

Mary T. Ference

Mary T. Ference, 88, of Phillipsburg, died Monday, July 5, 1999 in Warren Hospital.

Born January 29, 1911 in Northampton, PA., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Hornyak Bilder, Sr.

She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, NJ.

Her husband, John S. Ference, Sr., died December 28, 1998.

She is survived by a son, John S. Jr., of Alpha; a daughter, Marie A. Regemann of Easton, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A son Richard, a daughter Jeanette, five brothers, Joseph, Charels Jr., Frank, John and Julius and a sister, Theresa Fritz all died earlier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Philip and St. James Church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. There will be no calling hours. Private cremation will follow the Mass.

The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the arrangements.

Richard R. Ference

Richard R. Ference, 58, of Alpha, died Wednesday, July 30, 1997 in his home.

He was a labor foreman for the International Laborer's Union, Local 569, Lebanon, NJ. of which he was also a past president.

Born December 14, 1938, he was the son John S., Sr., and Mary T. Bilder Ference, of Phillipsburg.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was a Private First Class in the Army National Guard of New Jersey from 1954 to 1960 then served two years in the Army Reserves.

He was a member of the Phillipsburg Lodge #052, Free and Accepted Masons, Phillipsburg and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Warren County Forest #14.

He was a social member of the Alpha Volunteer Fire Co, and was also an avid sportsman and hunter.

He and his wife, the former Barbara McCartney observed their thirtieth wedding anniversary on January 28.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by one daughter, Melissa of Easton; one brother John S., Jr., of Mesa, Arizona and one sister, Marie A. Regemann of Easton. A sister, Jeanette died in 1968.

Private cremation will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours or funeral services.

The family requests memorial contributions to the Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope Hospice, 99 Sparta Road, Newton, NJ 07860-2614.

The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the funeral arrangements.

Ralph R. Firth

Ralph Russell Firth, 81, of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 in his home.

He was a machine operator at the former Canister Co., on Broad Street in Phillipsburg, which later became Sonoco Products.

Born October 4, 1919 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Wilson Firth.

He was a Technician Fourth Grade in the United States Army and Company A 5th Signal Battalion during World War Two in Central Europe, Ardennes, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was awarded the American Defense Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, John and Raymond and three sisters, Mary Holly, Alice Calawonsen and Lila Weidner all died earlier.

Interment with military honors were held Wednesday, February 21, 2001 in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial cemetery in North Hanover, NJ.

Funeral arrangements were arranged by the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg.

Bonnie K. Fisher

Bonnie K. "Boni" Fisher, 42, of Pen Argyl, Pa., died Monday, July 4, 2005 in her home.

She was a sales clerk at 48 Hours Video in Pen Argyl.

Born June 4, 1963 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late William Sr., and Marion Snyder Fisher.

She is survived by a brother, William Fisher, Jr. of Wind Gap and a sister, Donna L. Sebring of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. An uncle, Benjamin Todd died earlier.

A service of remembrance will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 16th, 2005 in the Mount Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, 1270 Belvidere Corner Rd., Mount Bethel, PA. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the arrangements. .

ROSE S. FISHER

ROSE S. FISHER, 86. OF THE CARE CENTER OF BRAKELEY PARK, LOPATCONG TWP., FORMERLY OF THE HECKMAN HOUSE IN PHILLIPSBURG, DIED MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1996 IN THE CARE CENTER.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL LADIES GARMENT WORKERS UNION AND WAS A SEWING MACHINE OPERATOR AT THE GARY LEE SPORTSWEAR. SHE RETIRED IN 1972.

BORN APRIL 24, 1910 IN ROSETO, SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE PHILIP AND MARY LEONARDA TRIGIANI SABATINE.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF ST. PHILIP AND ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, PHILLIPSBURG.

SHE IS SURVIVED BY ONE SON, DANIEL C. FISHER OF STEWARTSVILLE; TWO DAUGHTERS, JENNIE BARNA OF BELFAST AND DOLORES BASKA OF FORKS TWP.; FOUR GRANDCHILDREN AND THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN. THREE BROTHERS, ANTHONY, NICHOLAS AND DR. MICHAEL SABATINE AND TWO SISTERS, GRACE MATTOLA AND LUCY CATALINE ALL DIED EARLIER.

SERVICES WILL BE HELD 10:15 A.M. THURSDAY FROM THE NOTO-WYNKOOP FUNERAL HOME, 289 SOUTH MAIN ST., PHILLIPSBURG, FOLLOWED BY A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL AT 10:45 A.M. IN ST. PHILIP AND ST. JAMES CHURCH, 426 SOUTH MAIN ST., PHILLIPSBURG. ENTOMBMENT WILL BE IN HOLY APOSTLE'S MAUSOLEUM, LOCATED IN THE PARISH cemetery , GREENWICH TWP. A CALLING HOUR WILL BE HELD FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL TIME OF SERVICES IN THE FUNERAL HOME ON THURSDAY.

George J. Flory

George J. Flory, 84, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, August 8, 1999 in Warren Hospital.

He had worked for Lehigh-Portland Cement Company for thirty years and then worked in the maintance department of Sanko Piece Dye Works in Phillipsburg for ten years. He last worked as a machine operator for Quality Outfitters in Stewartsville for 6 years and retired in 1979.

Born April 9, 1915 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Eugene and Nettie Schickley Flory.

He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Phillipsburg.

He was a corporal in the Army during World War II and served with the 3610th Service Command Unit Headquarters and Service Company at Percy Jones Hospital Annex. He received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was a member of the Phillipsburg Lodge 52, Free and Accepted Masons in Phillipsburg.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby E. Umholtz of Easton; a son, Michael E. of Easton; two grandchildren and two nieces. A sister, Emily Hess died earlier.

Funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Easton cemetery , Easton.

David W. Flowers

David W. Flowers, 36, of Frankfurt, Germany, formerly of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, March 24, 2002 in Germany as a result of an auto accident in Germany on August 30, 2001.

David was a civilian fitness instructor for the United States Army in Germany. Previously, he was a Specialist E-4 with the 413th Signal Company in the Army from 1994 until his honorable discharge in 1998. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He then served in the United States Army Reserves until February 2002.

Born January 1, 1966 in Phillipsburg, David was the son of Laura (Williams) Flowers of Phillipsburg and the late James O. Flowers, Sr.

He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1984, where he was an accomplished athlete of basketball and football. He was named the Express-Times Basketball Player of the Year in 1984. That year, the basketball team set a school record of 23-6 and also won a sectional championship for the second year in a row. After high school, Dave attended Upsula College in East Orange, NJ, where he played basketball four years. After college, he was a high school physical education teacher in Livingston, NJ.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Phillipsburg.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Songul Tekin and a daughter, April Marie both of Germany; five brothers, James O. Flowers, Jr. and Robert L. Flowers, both of Phillipsburg, Carey J. Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., John D. Williams of Easton, Pa and Mark S. Williams of Egypt, Pa.; seven sisters, Rita A., Gloria A., Laura A., Jean M. and Joan M., all of Phillipsburg, Debra of San Jose, California and Barbara Andrews of Easton, Pa.

A service of rememberance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Grace Baptist Church, 330 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. The Rev. Carl V. Brown, Sr. will be the officiant for the services. A calling hour will be held from 6:00 p.m. until time of services Monday in the church. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, is handling the arrangements. Burial will be private in the Phillipsburg cemetery , Phillipsburg, NJ.

Memorial contributions to the family will be accepted at the church Monday or may be sent to the family in care of the funeral home

James Otis Flowers, Sr.

James Otis Flowers, Sr., 63, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, March 11, 1993 in Warren Hospital.

He had been employed by the Lehigh Foundry, Inc., Easton, as a grinder until 1970. He then worked at the Hunterdon State School in Clinton, NJ, before retiring in 1984.

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Phillipsburg.

Survivors include three sons, James O. Jr., of Phillipsburg, David W. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Robert L. of Easton; seven daughters, Rita A., Laura A. Mason, Joan M. and Jean M., all of Phillipsburg, Debra of San Jose, Calif., Gloria A. of Whitehall and Barbara Andrews of Easton; three step-sons, Carey J. Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., Mark S. Williams of Allentown and John D. Williams of Phillipsburg; one brother Adam of Fayetteville, N.C. and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. Burial will be in Phillipsburg cemetery , Phillipsburg. Calling hours will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

James Otis "Jim-Jim" Flowers, Jr.

James Otis "Jim-Jim" Flowers, Jr., 40, of Phillipsburg, died Monday, July 1, 2002 in Phillipsburg.

Born January 30, 1962 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of Laura Williams of Phillipsburg and the late James O. Flowers, Sr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by four brothers, Robert L. Flowers of Phillipsburg, Carey J. Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., John D. Williams of Easton, Pa and Mark S. Williams of Egypt, Pa.; seven sisters, Rita A., Gloria A., Laura A., Jean M. and Joan M., all of Phillipsburg, Debra of San Jose, California and Barbara Andrews of Easton, Pa. A brother, David W. Flowers died March 24, 2002

Cremation will be private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Phillipsburg cemetery , Filmore St., Phillipsburg. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the funeral arrangements.

Laura Williams Flowers

Laura Williams Flowers 70, of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 in her home with her family at her side.

She was a former nurses aide and activity director for both Eastwood Rehabilitation Center in Wilson Borough and Praxis in Easton. She was also a former direct care provider for Hunterdon Developmental Center, Clinton.

Born May 11, 1934 in Washington, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Harris Williams.

She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Phillipsburg.

Laura is survived by four sons, Carey J. Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., John D. Williams of Easton, Mark S. Williams of Coplay, Pa. and Robert L. of Phillipsburg; five daughters, Rita A., Laura A. Mason and Jean M., all of Phillipsburg, Gloria A. of Allentown and Joan M. of Easton; a brother, Love Williams of Phillipsburg; four sisters, Geraldine Lillard and Lucille Brown, both of Washington, Pa. and Elizabeth Thornton and Amelia Gibson, both of Easton; 24 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, James O., Jr. and David W., two sisters, Gertrude Williams and Pearl Thornton and two brothers, Charles and Robert "Reavy" Williams.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Grace Baptist Church, 330 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the Phillipsburg cemetery , Phillipsburg.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations to the church, for the benefit of their youth programs.

Elvena H. Foose

Elvena H. Foose, 68, of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, December 24, 2005 in her home.

She was a former sewing machine operator for A and H Sportswear, Easton and was a member of the Internation Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Born January 5, 1937 in Lopatcong Twp., she was a daughter of Helen Yarence Stone of Broadway, NJ and the Charles Stone.

She is survived by daughters Joy Foose, with whom she resided and Deborah Nagle of Orneville Twp. Maine ; three brothers, Charles of Nazareth, Howard of Phillipsburg and Gene of Broadway; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. The family will receive visitors beginning at 6:00 pm.

Carolyn A. Foss

Carolyn A. Foss, 72, of Greenwich Twp., died Thursday, May 27, 2004 in Easton Hospital.

Born July 2, 1931 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late William and Caroline Koch Schroeder.

Carolyn enjoyed reading, traveling and cherished the time she spent with her family. She was also an accomplished needlework artist and was active in several area embroidery guilds. She was nationally recognized for excellence in her work, including many that were on display at the Smithsonian Institute and other public exhibitions.

She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Alpha, N.J., where she was a former C.C.D. teacher.

Carolyn and her husband, Lloyd E. Foss, Sr., celebrated their fifty-third wedding anniversary on December 27, 2003.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Lloyd E. Jr. of West Chester, Pa., Philip and Andrew, both of Easton and Charles of Stewartsville; three daughters, Mary Lou Unangst of Harmony Twp., Caroline Smith of Ashburn, Va., and Jennifer Davis of Dryden, N.Y.; four brothers, William of Easton, Edward of Phillipsburg, Karl of Annapolis, MD. and Thomas of Dunnsville, Va.; three sisters, Virginia Sutton of Phillipsburg, Mary Schroeder and Joan Bamford, both of Easton and fifteen grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a brother John and three (triplets) grandchildren.

There will no be public viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, in the church, Fifth Ave., Alpha. Entombment will be in the parish mausoleum following the Mass. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the arrangements.
