MARGARET "SIS" BROWN CARLSON, 83, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Friday, June 15, at The Manor, Freehold Township. Mrs. Carlson was born in Neptune and raised in Bradley Beach before moving to Freehold Township in 1967 after spending many years overseas with her husband, William in Germany, Costa Rica and Mexico. Known to all her family and friends as "Sis," she was the only daughter of John and Sara Brown. Mrs. Carlson grew up with her three brothers in an active, athletic family, graduating from Asbury Park High School. She postponed entering college during WWII to volunteer with the American Red Cross. Following the war, the graduated from Sargent College of Boston University as a physical therapist. Thereafter, she joined the staff at Long Branch Medical Hospital during the polio epidemic of the late 1940s.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, William T. Carlson of Freehold; one son and daughter-in-law, William M. and Barbara Carlson of Hainesport; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Robert Hines of Reston, Va.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Maya; one brother, Michael "Jim" Brown of Shark River Hills; one sister-in-law, Maxine Brown of Toms River; her beloved canine companion, Chester; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Old Tennent cemetery , Tennent. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Carlson may be made to Associated Humane Societies Home of Popcorn Park Zoo, P.O. Box 1002, Forked River, NJ 08731-0982.

PHILIP D. CARPE, 72, of JACKSON, died Tuesday, May 30, at William B. Kessler Memorial Hospital, Hammonton. Mr. Carpe was born in East Windsor and had lived in Clarksburg and Howell before moving to Jackson in 1998. Mr. Carpe was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was an avid photographer and world traveler. Mr. Carpe was a research chemist at Block Drug Company, Jersey City, retiring in 1997. Prior to that, he was a research chemist at Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, and Carter-Wallace, Cranbury. He was a member of the Ocean County Camera Club.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David K. Carpe and Elizabeth DeMontigny of Newton, and Andrew F. and Margaret Carpe of Hammonton; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Donald Hyatt of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a sister, Judy Housekeeper of Lawrenceville; seven grandchildren, Justin, Brian, Andrea, Dylan, Brendan, Alyssa, and Alexander; and his companion, Ann Whatley of Jackson.

A gathering of friends will take place from 11: 30 a.m. Saturday until the memorial service at noon at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, with Rev. Harvey Kelley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Carpe may be made to the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery , Memorialization Fund, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562, and would be appreciated.

ALBERT J. CASTAGNETTA, JR., 68, of Freehold Township, died Thursday, Dec. 7, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Castagnetta was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and had lived in Perth Amboy until moving to Old Bridge, South Amboy, and Edison, settling in Freehold Township in 1995. Mr. Castagnetta was a journeyman pressman for the A.L.A., Local No. 1, Manhattan, for 40 years retiring in 2000. Mr. Castagnetta was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an active bowler in the Monday and Thursday morning Senior Leagues at Howell Lanes. Albert participated in all aspects of community life at Surrey Downs; he was also a member of the Men's Club and served on the Covenant Committee.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Nancy Rebak of Freehold Township; one son and daughter-in-law, AJ and Renee Castagnetta, III of Hopelawn; two grandchildren, Gabriella and Christopher; a cousin, Edward Castagnetta of Helmetta; and his faithful canine companion, Misti.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. His Funeral Services will be private.

ARMANDO D. CERVANTES, 25, of FREEHOLD, died Monday, June 19, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, Ind. Mr. Cervantes was born in Hoboken and had lived in Union City and Jersey City before moving to Howell. Mr. Cervantes was a corporal in the U.S. Marines, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Cervantes was a graduate of Freehold Township High School, Class of 1999, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He spent time in Mississippi helping hurricane Katrina victims. He was a concierge in New York City.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Carmen and Robert O'Neill of Freehold; his father, Armando Cervantes of Mexico; a sister, Meghan O'Neill of Freehold; his maternal grandmother, Elba Minski of Orlando, Fla.; his maternal grandfather, Alfredo Taylor of New York City; his paternal grandmother, Micaela Cervantes of Mexico; and his paternal stepgrandmother, Bridget O'Neill of Freehold.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 9: 30 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Asbury Road, Farmingdale, with Rev. Michael Vona officiating. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery , Arneytown.

ALFRED J. CHELLI, 81, of HOWELL, died Friday, April 6 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Chelli was born in Exeter, Pa., and had lived in East Brunswick for 30 years before moving to the "Surrey Downs" section of Howell in 1986. He was an inspector for General Motors, Linden, for 32 years retiring in 1985. Mr. Chelli was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a sergeant in the military police during World War II in the European Theater in Northern France.

Surviving are his wife, Lucy Dominick Chelli of Howell; one son, Alfred Chelli of Jackson; three daughters, Mary Ellen Speciale of East Brunswick, Laura Saker of Millstone, Elaine Zullo of Hightstown; one sister, Lena Faillace of Philadelphia, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by his 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment to follow at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery , Arneytown. The family requests donations in Al's memory to: American Diabetes Association, 1160 Route 22 East, Suite 103, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

Palma E. Chimento Mass for Palma E. Chimento, 89, of Freehold, will be Monday at 9: 30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Farmingdale. She died at home yesterday. Born in Jersey City, she lived there before moving to Freehold in 1987. Chimento was a homemaker. Surviving are a son, John Chimento; a daughter, Roseanne Nowicki; and three grandchildren, Kimberly, Ashley and Craig. Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, is in charge.

BRENDA CHRISTIAN, 43, of TINTON FALLS, died Sunday, Feb. 4, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Christian was born in Point Pleasant and lived in Neptune before moving to Tinton Falls eight years ago. Brenda was in the retail business since 1978, when she started her career at Shoetown Inc. This job took her to many other retail positions for various retail chains such as Victoria's Secret and Calvin Klein. One of her most memorable jobs was with Ascot Shoes, Inc., where she traveled to Europe, including Milan, Italy, as a buyer. Her last employment with Baker Shoes Inc. landed her a position as a corporate manager, which enabled her also to travel. She traveled to St. Louis, where her corporate office was located, and to Chicago to do presentations to future retailers on work ethics, selling techniques and being in management. She was very well-loved and respected by her friends and co-workers for her ability to always be professional at what she knew best.

She was predeceased by her father, Karl F. Schrieber, in 2005. Surviving are her husband, Douglas W. Christian; two sons, Zachary Christian and Matthew Christian, both at home; her mother, Sandra M. Schrieber of Jackson; a brother, Karl D. Schrieber of Howell; and a sister, Lisa Marie Schrieber of Jackson.

Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Her Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Anselm, 1028 Wayside Road, Wayside. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery , Farmingdale.

CAROLEE D. CICHON, 59, of HOWELL, died Friday, June 22, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Neptune, Mrs. Cichon was a lifelong Monmouth County resident. She was a discharge planner at Jersey Shore University Medical Center for the past three years. She was also a member of Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, Farmingdale.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Alan Cichon, who was declared missing in action in 1968. Surviving are her three sons, G. Bryan Cichon of Jacksonville, Fla., David Cichon of Lincoln Park, and Malcolm Cichon of Auburndale, Fla.; one daughter, Sara D'Onorio Demeo of Howell; five grandsons; and a companion, Don Spina of Wall.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, 40 Main St., Farmingdale. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery , Arneytown.

DOMINICK R. CIRILLO, 88, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Care One at Wall. Mr. Cirillo was born in New York City and had lived in Brooklyn before moving to Freehold Township 11 years ago. He was a longshoreman at the Brooklyn Army Base and the Bayonne military installation until his retirement in 1977. Mr. Cirillo retired two years ago as a school bus aide for the Freehold Township school system. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. Mr. Cirillo was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Surviving are his wife, Nicolina Cirillo; a son, Anthony Cirillo of Freehold Township; a daughter, Barbara Cirillo of Freehold Township; a brother, Nicholas Cirillo of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Carmosino of Staten Island, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Anthony D. Cirillo and Nicole Cirillo, both of Freehold Township.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Rite of Committal followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 George Road, Freehold. Entombment to follow in St. Catharine's cemetery , Spring Lake. CHRISTOPHER CLARK, 10, of JACKSON, died Thursday, Sept. 13, at Children's Hospital, Philadelphia.

Surviving are his parents, Tina and Russ; and a brother, Tyler.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow.

EDWARD CLARK, 71, of HOWELL, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Clark was born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y., and had lived in Old Bridge and Farmingdale before settling in Howell in 1969. Mr. Clark was a member of the I.B.E.W., Local 827, East Windsor, working for Verizon for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He also owned and operated the Farmingdale Trader firearm shop, Farmingdale. Mr. Clark was a U.S. Navy Reserve Veteran serving in the Seabees. He was an active member of the NRA and the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, Rudy and Teddy Clark and a sister, Gloria Kase. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carol Anne Clark of Howell; one son, Edward Clark of Newark; one daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Joseph Delvecchio of Frederick, Md.; and two grandchildren, Joey and Avery.

All arrangements are private by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Edward may be made to the CentraState Health Care Foundation, Oncology Department, 916 Route 33, Suite 6, Freehold, NJ 07728.

LOUISE W. CLAYTON- LaSTATION, 92, of Adelphia, HOWELL, died Thursday, Jan. 11. Mrs. Clayton-LaStation was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., and had lived there before moving to the Freehold-Adelphia area in 1933. She was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church, Adelphia, and a member of their Women's Society for Christian Service. From the 1950s to 1985, she was a member of the Official Board of the Church, the church treasurer. She was the organist and choir director for 30 years. Mrs. Clayton-LaStation was an aircraft spotter during World War II. She was also a Red Cross solicitor for the Red Cross War Fund during World War II. She was a member of the N.J. State School Boards Association during the late 1940s, 1950s and early 1960s. In the 1960s, she was a member and past president of the Howell Township Board of Education. From the 1960s to 2006, she was a member of the Molly Pitcher Chapter of the Eastern Star. During the 1980s and 1990s, she was a member of the Central Jersey Transportation Board, the Freehold Regional P.T.A. and their Scholarship Board, Local Election Board District 8, Howell, Women's Club of Freehold, the Ladies Auxiliary-Howell Fire Co. 1, Adelphia, Shore Acres Yacht Club, Howell Township Senior Citizens Advisory Council, and the Howell Senior Center. Mrs. Clayton-LaStation was active in the Farmingdale-Howell Chamber of Commerce. She also served on the Monmouth County Board of Elections, the White House Commission for Education during the Eisenhower Administration. She was a former president of the Monmouth Council School Boards Association. She was a former member of the Monmouth County Republican Committee and the Republican National Committee. Mrs. Clayton-LaStation received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Mrs. Clayton-LaStation, along with her first husband, C. Ensley Clayton, owned and operated the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia, until 1979.

She was predeceased by a son, C. Ensley Clayton, in 1942; her first husband, C. Ensley Clayton, in 1969; and her second husband, William LaStation, in 1994. Surviving are a son, Charles Clayton of Adelphia; a daughter, Anne McCarty of Howell; and two grandsons, Mark McCarty of High Bridge, and Steven McCarty and his wife Jodi of Coral Springs, Fla.

Visiting hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Adelphia cemetery.
