Wilson, Sr., Robert H.

Robert H. Wilson, Sr., 73, of Swainton, part owner of the Woodbury Times, beloved husband and father, departed his life on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at Court House Convalescent Center. He was born in Fortescue, NJ and lived in Avalon before moving to Swainton ten years ago. He was a chief machinist mate senior of the Navy during the Korean War, serving 20 years in Lakehurst, NJ and at sea duty. He was a member of Maris Stella Church in Avalon, the Fleet Reserve Association of Cape May, and the VFW of Sea Isle City.

Bob is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Wilson; his son, Robert Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Lexington, KY; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 14 at 1:00 PM at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where friends may call after 12:00 PM. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery, Cape May Court House.

Winner, Beatrice B.

WINNER, on March 15, 2002, Beatrice B. (nee Borel) of Marlton. Age 93

She is the beloved wife of the late Harold W. Winner. She is survived by 1 daughter, Deanne W. Fritz & her husband Joseph of Medford and 2 sons, Jack B. and his wife Marian of Homosassa, FL and W. Donald Sr. & his wife Liz of Medford. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In 1932, Bea along with her husband founded the W.B. Winner & Son Plumbing & Heating Co, Marlton. She was the oldest member of the Burlington Co. Fire Ladies Auxiliary, and the Evesham Twp. Fire Ladies Auxiliary. Also a member of the Marlton & Medford Senior Citizens Associations and the Questers. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Monday from 12:00 – 1PM at the Bradley Funeral Home Rt. 73 and Evesham Rd. Marlton NJ (856) 983-1005 where a Funeral Service will be held at 1PM Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill.

Wood, Albert E.

Wood, Albert Elmer, age 92, died November 11, 2002, at home in Cape May Court House, NJ. Born September 22, 1910, in Cape May Court House, he was the descendant of some of the first European settlers of Cape May County.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University in 1930 at age 19, the youngest member of his class. Graduate work at Columbia University led to an MA in Zoology in 1932 and a Ph.D. in Geology in 1935. A Cutting Travelling Fellowship from Columbia enabled him to carry out postgraduate research at museums throughout the United States and Europe during 1935-36.

Thereafter he worked as a geologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until entering active duty in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the artillery in 1941. During World War II he served in the United States, England, France and Germany, where he was severely wounded in combat in November, 1944. He was decorated with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and discharged from active duty in 1946 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1970 as a Colonel.

Dr. Wood joined the Department of Biology at Amherst College in 1946, subsequently becoming Full Professor and Department Chairman. He retired in 1970 as Professor Emeritus of Biology. His former students include the Directors of five major Natural History Museums in the United States and Canada.

A vertebrate paleontologist, Dr. Wood was a world-renowned authority on rodent evolution. His career as a vertebrate paleontologist spanned 70 years, including the publication of over 100 scientific papers. He was a member of a number of scientific societies, including the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, of which he was a founding member, served as President in 1960-61, and was elected an Honorary Member in 1977. In 1998 he received the Society's highest honor, the Romer-Simpson medal, for eminent service in the field of vertebrate paleontology.

He was preceded in death in 1987 by his beloved wife of 50 years, Frances Wright Wood. He is survived by three loving children and their spouses: A. Frederick Wood, M.D. and Carolyn Wood of Larkspur, CA; Roger C. Wood, Ph.D. and Gary Wood of Cape May Court House, NJ; and Daniel N. Wood, Captain, USCG (Ret.) and Antoinette Wood of Chesapeake, VA. He was the beloved grandfather of Jennifer Synold, Angela Myers, and Timothy Wood; Seth and Nathaniel (deceased) Wood; and Scott and Jason Wood. He was the loving great-grandfather of Taylor, Kelly, and Jessica Synold and Cameron and Lucas Wood.

Visitation and celebration of his life will be at 11 AM, Saturday, December 14, 2002, at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ, followed by graveside services at the Baptist cemetery in Cape May Court House. A reception for family and friends will follow from 1-4 PM at The Doctor's Inn, 2 North Main St., Cape May Court House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wetlands Institute (for the Albert E. Wood Beach Studies Fund), 1075 Stone Harbor Boulevard, Stone Harbor, NJ, 08247-1424.

Woods, Theresa

Theresa Woods (nee Touhill), 53, of Williamstown, NJ, died suddenly at home on Thursday July 4, 2002.

She was a resident of Williamstown most of her life. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Williamstown.

She is survived by her daughter Theresa (Ian) Cramner and grandson Robert; her mother Margaret (the late Thomas) Touhill; her brothers Jimmy, Thomas and John Touhill and sisters Regina Rubinski, Rose May Touhill and Peggy Swindell.

Graveside Services will be held 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary’s cemetery, Williamstown. Arrangements are made by the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, Williamstown.

Woolery, Matilda

Matilda Woolery, 90, of Stone Harbor, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at the home of her daughter, Joan H. Paulson, with whom she lived. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived in Prospect Park, PA before moving her in 1970. She was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Stone Harbor and the Prospect Methodist Church. She and her late husband, Andrew N. were charter members of the Stone Harbor Seniors and had been recognized by the Chamber of Commerce as "Seniors of the Year". She was well known for her parties and having many friends. She was a past president of the Prospect Park PTA and an avid bridge player. She was a stay-at-home mom and coach.

Mrs. Woolery is survived by her daughters: Joan H. Paulson and husband, David of Stone Harbor; Nancy Weber and her husband, Gene of Rehobeth Beach, DE and a son, Theodore and his wife, Deborah of Rutledge, PA; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A service will be held on Friday, October 19 at 11:00 am at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 93rd and Third Avenue, Stone Harbor. Interment is private. Memorials may be made to the Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247.

Woronkiewicz Sr., Daniel E.

WORONKIEWICZ, on June 1, 2002, Daniel E. Sr. of Marlton. Beloved husband of Donna M. (nee Visco) and loving father of Daniel E. Jr., both of Marlton. He is survived by his parents, Edward and Evelyn Woronkiewicz of Las Vegas NV and 2 brothers, David and Daryl. WOSHNAK, DONALD J.

On 9/7/2002, of Fairview, NJ; age 76 years.

Dear brother of, Frank Woshnak and his wife, Betty and Dorothy and her husband, Robert Maloney. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Woshnak was employed at RCA in Camden, NJ for over 30 years. He was also a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

Wright, I, Allahdin Zhyeir

Allahdin Zhyeir Wright, I, of Woodbine, 2-month-old infant son of Shannon Murray and Allahdjinn Wright, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. He is the brother of Kahiaf Wright-Mobley, Demetrious Wright-Minor, Howard Wright, and Mikal Wright; the grandson of Elizabeth and the late Leon Murray, Annie Wright, and Julius Coleman; and the great grandson of Mildred Small. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodbine, Longfellow and Adams Streets. Interment will be in Woodbine cemetery.

Wynkoop, Francis E.

FRANCIS E. WYNKOOP went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 12, 2002. He was 53 yrs. of age. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he resided in Mt. Holly, NJ for the past year moving there from Wilmington, DE. A Dispatcher with F.F.E. Tranportation Service in Avenel, NJ, he worked for them for the past year and ˝. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He is the beloved son of Regina (Nee Herut) Wynkoop and is also survived by his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and his long time companion Terry Hershey. WYZYKOWSKI, on March 27, 2002, Victoria J. (nee Jozwick) of Vincentown, NJ. Age 82. Beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Wyzykowski. Beloved Aunt of: Alexandria M. Yahara, Blanche J.

Blanche J. Yahara age 73 of Long Branch died Tuesday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

She was born in Neptune, she had lived in Maine before coming to Long Branch 4 years ago.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Edward Yahara in 1998, and survived by a son, Paul Yahara, of Ashland, Oregon, a daughter and son in law, Julia and Joseph Ciaglia, of Long Branch, 2 brothers, William Rockhill, of Virginia, and Chett Rockhill, of Texas, a sister, Doris Crawley, of Florida, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Yarborough, Walter J.

Walter J. Yarborough, age 78 of Tinton Falls died Friday, May 14 at the St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He served his country honorably, retiring from the US Navy, then Army Air force. His last position was a Dental Technician. He was a Free and Accepted Mason. Born in Lexington, N.C. he lived in Toms River before moving to Tinton Falls 19 years ago. Surviving is his wife, Antoinette Ravaschieri Yarborough; a daughter and son in law, Ann Marie and Joseph Grippe of Bayville; a step son and his wife, Michael J. and Patricia DeMayo of Oceanport; three brothers, William of Greensboro, N.C., Robert of Lexington, N.C. and Gordon of High Point, N.C.; four sisters, Matilda Adams, Nancy Trudgen of Ashboro, Charlotte Tuttle of Rural Hall and Alice Ingram of North Point, all North Carolina; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., corners of Third Ave, Long Branch on Sunday, May 16 from 2-4 pm. Yesgosh, Gertrude D.

Gertrude D. Yesgosh, 80, of Cape May, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Vince and Gertrude (Bolger) Elm and moved here in 1959. She moved to Cape May Court House in 1979. She formerly was a director for the Cape May County Red Cross. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.

She is survived by her husband, George A. Yesgosh, Sr.; her son, George A. Yesgosh, Jr. of Cape May; her sister, Delores Corcoran of Clearwater, FL; and her granddaughters, Jessica and Emily.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at her son's home, 1087 Michigan Avenue, Cape May, where friends may call after 12:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church, P.O. Box 324, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Ymer, Christina

YMER, CHRISTINA 36, of Atlantic City, formerly of Millville, passed away on December 7 in Lima, PA. Born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Millville and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Vine-land, and attend-ed the Philadel-phia Fashion Institute of Tech-nology and Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.

Christine was employed as a flight attendant for US Airways for 15 years. She was recognized frequently with many awards for her outstanding service and caring for her fellow travelers. She was an avid athlete and sports enthusiast who loved life, people and animals. She was a beautiful person inside and out.

She is deeply loved and missed by her four nieces and nephews, Joseph, Christopher and Lisa Cole of Lexington, KY and Gabrielle Sobel Ymer of Linwood.

She is also survived by her beloved parents, Josephine Ymer of Atlantic City and Samuel B. Ymer of Bangor, ME; a dear sister, Lenore and her husband Vincent Cole of Lexington, KY; a devoted brother, Timothy S. Ymer of Somers Point.

A memorial Mass will be held 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 11 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 722 Maple Ave., Linwood.

YOST, Mary A. (nee Bannan)

On July 8, 2002, of Marlton, NJ. Age 77. Native and nearly life-long resident of Harrisburg. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Harrisburg.

Wife of the late Walter F. Yost. Survived by a Step-daughter Dharlys Collins of California, and two nephews, Dale Yost of New Cumberland, PA and Dennis Bannan of Marlton. Young, Beverly A.

Beverly A. Young (Nee Slodysko) of Southampton Twp., NJ lost her battle with cancer on Friday, November 2, 2001 at her home in Southampton, NJ. She was 60 years of age. Born in the Shamokin, PA, she grew up in Phila., PA, married and moved to Marlton, NJ, before moving to Southampton, where she has lived for the past 21 years. A certified Artist/Instructor who studied with Bob Ross and Arlene Jenkins, Beverly also taught at the Michael’s Craft Store in Moorestown, NJ. She was the owner of the Busy Bee Craft Shop in Southampton, NJ and the previous owner of the J & B mini-market in Lumberton, NJ. An active member of the Burlington Co. Red Cross and was a former Girl Scout Leader. She coordinated the Annual Memorial Day Parade and the Easter Egg hunt in Southampton. She was very active with the Tabernacle Twp. PTA where she taught Summer recreation classes for the PTA and assisted in various other activities supporting the school system that her granddaughter attended. Beverly is the survived by her husband James F. Young Sr., Mayor of Southampton Twp. Loving mother of James F. Young Jr. and his wife Linda and their daughter Randi of Marlton, NJ, Kimberly A. Brown, Mayor of Tabernacle Twp., and her husband Steve and their children Steven, Michael, Melanie and Christopher; and Alan Young and his son James Robert of Browns Mills, NJ. Also survived by her sister Christine Cardwell of Marlton, NJ. She is the sister of the late Alphonsus (Buddy) Slodysko. Young, Norma J.

Norma J. Young, age 81, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Friday, Mar. 1, 2002, at the Victoria Manor Nursing Center, North Cape May, NJ. A resident here since 1936, she was born in Bargaintown, NJ, and was the daughter of the late Wesley D. and Ethel E. Peters Brown. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cape May Court House and volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Drives. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Cape May County Probation Office. She is survived by two sons: Donald C. Potomac Falls, VA, and Stephen W. of Richmond, VA. Services and interment are private at Norma's request.

Young, Dr. Susan A.

Dr. Susan A. Young Schiavo age 50 of West Long Branch passed away at home peacefully on December 29, 2003, after a six year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Dr Young was a Professor of Education at Monmouth University, where she taught and did research, for the last 10 years. Formerly employed by the Long Branch Public School System, she was instrumental in the creation and development of a research-based early childhood literary curriculum that is still a part of the Joseph M. Ferraina Early Childhood Learning Center, Long Branch.

Joseph Ferraina, superintendent of the Long Branch School System, remembers her as "One of the people who instrumental in incorporating student teacher development into the preschool program. She was a truly dedicated and compassionate educator who made things happen."

Sue also worked with learning-disabled children, a task to which she dedicated her life. Born in Newark, she had lived in West Long Branch for the past 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony "Ducky" Schiavo who died in 2001. She is survived by her three sons, Michael, Erin, and Lorin, her parents, William and Betty Young, a sister, Mary Lou Shea, her mother in law, Angela Schiavo and many family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday January 2, 2004, at 11 am from the First Presbyterian Church, Cedar and Hoey Aves, Long Branch. An additional memorial service is being planned for Dr Young at Monmouth University, tentatively scheduled for the week of January 19, 2004. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in her memory to the ALS Hope Foundation, 219 North Broad Street, Seventh Floor, PO Box 40777, Philadelphia, Pa 19107.
