Lucille B. Fowler

Lucille B. Fowler, 91, of Stewartsville, NJ, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Fellowship Manor in Whitehall, Pa. Born: On October 21, 1916 in Crosby, ND, she was a daughter of the late Harry Palmer and Alma Moen Bergerud. Personal: Her husband, Richard C. Fowler DDS, passed away in 2000. Lucille was an elementary school teacher, teaching kindergarten in Montgomery Township, NJ schools for more than 20 years, retiring in 1978. She graduated from Moorehead Teachers College in Moorehead, Minn. She received her Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota. After World War II, Lucille served in Germany, teaching children of the United States service people. Memberships: She was a member of the Nassau Presbyterian Church, Princeton, NJ, and the American Association of Retired Persons. Lucille was also a member of the New Jersey Education Association. Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Christopher C. Fowler and his wife Janice of Stewartsville, NJ and Jonathan R. Fowler and his wife Diane of Sarasota, NY, and three grandchildren, Lexy, Anna and Christopher Fowler. A brother, Richard C. Bergerud, died earlier. Services: A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church, North Main Street, Stewartsville, NJ. There will be no calling hours. The Rupell Funeral Home LLC is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials: May be made to the American Diabetes Association, Northwest Regional Chapter, 200 Cottontail Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873.

Audley "A.G.", "Skeeter" Smith Jr.

Audley "A.G." "Skeeter" Smith Jr., 66, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Warren Hospital. Born: On July 13, 1941 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of Elsie Halley Smith of Souderton, Pa, and the late Audley G. Smith Sr. Personal: He and his wife, the former Nancy J. Poyer, observed their 27th wedding anniversary on March 1, 2007. He was a tool crib maintenance person for the Alcan Packaging Co., formerly the American Can Co. in Washington, NJ for 38 years, retiring in 2004. He was a resident of Phillipsburg for all of his life. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. A.G. was of the Protestant faith. Memberships: He was a member of the Lester W. Pfeffer American Legion Post #611, Wilson Borough, and the Mohican Club of Easton. Survivors: In addition to his wife Nancy, and his mother, Elsie, he is survived by two daughters, Dawn Smith of Allentown, Pa and Sherri Smith of Slatington, Pa; two brothers, Thomas and Darrel Smith, both of Hatboro, Pa; eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Beverly Cooper of Souderton, died earlier. Services: A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a date to be announced by the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, Phillipsburg, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit the family at his residence or express their condolences to the family online in care of rupellfh@enter.net.

Geza J. Gyorfi

Geza J. Gyorfi, 55, of Hillside Village, Oxford, NJ, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Born: November 21, 1952 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Geza and Ruth Brooks Gyorfi. Personal: Raised in Brainards, Geza has lived in Oxford since 1970. He graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1970. He also graduated from Warren County Community College with an associate degree as a para-legal. He was a member of the first class to be received into the National Honor Society of that college. He graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor of science degree. He enjoyed golf and had a hole-in-one at the Cherry Valley Golf Club. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast, his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Survivors: A daughter, Terri L. Toth of Oxford; brother, Daniel A. Gyorfi and his wife Nancy, and sister, Nancy Reinert and her husband Larry, all of Phillipsburg; his good friend Eugene Bisanti of Oxford; great-nieces and -nephews, and his special friend "Puppy", his cat. A sister, Marie Gyorfi, died earlier. Services: A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held for his family and friends on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. at 1506 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. The Rupell Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials: To Common Sense for Animals, 2420 State Highway 57, New Village, NJ.

Charlotte F. Herr

Charlotte F. Herr, 68, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at her home. Born: July 9, 1939 in West Easton, PA. Personal: Charlotte was a registered nurse doing private duty in the Phillipsburg and Easton area. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School and St. Luke's School of Nursing. Survivors: her husband, Harold H.; a sister, Shirley Wyant. Services: Funeral Services will be private. There will be no calling hours. Rupell Funeral Home, LLC is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia L. Pene

Patricia L. Pene, 55, of Oxford, NJ, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 at her home. Born: On April 11, 1952 in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Laura Cole Havens. Personal: Patricia and her husband, Elo G. Pene, observed their 37th wedding anniversary on October 3rd. A lifelong resident of Oxford, NJ, Patricia attended Washington High School. She was a certified nurse's aide at the Warren Haven Nursing Home in Oxford, NJ. Prior to that, she was head housekeeper at Panther Valley in Hackettstown, NJ. Patricia enjoyed crocheting and collecting dolls. In her younger years, she and her family loved to go camping. Her greatest pleasure was being with her grandchildren. Memberships: Patricia was a member of Colonial United Methodist Church, Oxford, NJ. Survivors: In addition to her husband Elo, she is survived by two sons, Christopher Pene and his companion Erin Walsh of Bangor, Pa and Jason Pene and his wife Nichol of Oxford, NJ; a daughter, Melissa Ventura and her husband Tom of Bangor; a brother, Barry Havens and his wife Karen of Oxford; six grandchildren, Christina Pene, Michael McCarthy, J.J. Pene, Austin Ventura, Hannah Pene and Hayden Pene, and nieces and nephews. A brother, Raymond Havens, died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Summerfield cemetery, Summerfield, NJ.

Anna M. Butler

Anna M. Butler, 94, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg. Born: On December 7, 1913 in Trenton, NJ, she was a daughter of the late John and Julia Kish Makranzi. Personal: Her husband, Gordon W., passed away on May 25, 1988. A resident of Phillipsburg for the last 58 years, Anna was at one time a secretary in the Trenton, NJ area. She was also secretary to the Publishers of Women's Day Magazine. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Trenton, NJ, Class of 1920. She loved her garden, especially her roses and was an avid bird watcher, enjoying all of nature. Memberships: Anna was a member of Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, NJ. Survivors: She is survived by a nephew, Carl Edward Olearchick of Trenton, NJ; nieces, Margaret Hugly of Lincoln, Neb., and Maryann Elliott of Trenton, NJ; grandnieces, Christine Hugly of Ann Arbor, Mich., Suzanne Thomashow of East Lansing, Mich., and Donna Steckert of Yardville, NJ, and a grandnephew, Bryan Drahofsky of Trenton, NJ. A brother, John Makranzi, and seven sisters, Catherine Makranzi, Mary Makranzi, Margaret Bodnar, Helen Makranzi, Isabelle Lechowicz, Rev. Sister Mary Cornelia and Elizabeth Bodnar, all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 430 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Holy Apostles Mausoleum, Greenwich Township, NJ. Charles R. "Uncle Russie" Wilson

Charles R. "Uncle Russie" Wilson, 82, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away Saturday January 5, 2008 at the Old Orchard Health Car Center, Bethlehem Twp., Pa. Born: July 30, 1925 in Phillipsburg to the late Edmund O. Wilson and Blanche Bittner Wilson. Personal: He has lived at the Care Center for the last three years. Before that he lived in Phillipsburg all his life. At one time Russell was an accountant for the J. Bencsetz Distributing Co. in Alpha, NJ. He attended Phillipsburg schools. He was a lifelong and avid Ted Williams Boston Red Sox baseball fan. Memberships: He was a member of the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, Phillipsburg. Survivors: two nephews, Leslie "Sonny" Wilson and his wife Ginny of Pohatcong Twp., NJ and Randy Wilson and his wife Trudi of Bethlehem Twp., Pa; two nieces, Dawn Merante and her husband Terry, Laurie Ritz and her husband Sal, both of Bethlehem Twp., Pa.; several grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. A brother, Leslie E. Wilson passed away in 2005. Services: Friday from 2 p.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 1 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery, Phillipsburg. Joseph J Brown

Joseph J. Brown, 94, of Flemington, NJ passed away Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Care Center of Brakeley, Lopatcong Twp., NJ. Born: January 13, 1913 in Newark, NJ to the late Sherman and Rose Brown. He has lived in Flemington for the last 50 years. Personal: Joseph was a glazier for the American Standard Co. in Trenton for 35 years, retiring in 1974. He was an avid Fisherman and enjoyed gardening. His wife, the former Josephine Colasurdo, passed away in 1992. Memberships: He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Flemington, NJ and The Flemington Elks Lodge. Survivors: three daughters, Anna Marie Vendemia and her husband, Nicholas, Bridgewater, NJ, Bernice Hoffman and her husband, Walter, Whitehouse, NJ, and Eileen E. Kerrigan, Lopatcong Twp., NJ; two sister-in-laws, Luceille Fuss, Ewing, NJ and Marie Colasurdo, East Hanover, NJ.; seven grandchildren, Caroline Quenemoen, Houston, TX, William Kerrigan, White Plains, NY, Nicole Assante, Bridgewater, NJ, Amy Jo Larry, Decatur, IL., Victoria Vendemia, NY, NY, Lynn Ann Wadle, Quakertown, NJ, Maureen Kerrigan, Lopatcong Twp., NJ; four great-grandchildren, Kerrigan and Ryan Quenemoen, Alyssa Assante, and Colleen Larry. Services: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Phillip and St. James Catholic Church. 430 South Main St., Phillipsburg at 9:30 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Frank L. Morrison

Frank L. Morrison, 55, of East Rockhill Township, died at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, Pa, on Saturday, January 12, 2008. Born: In Upper Darby, Pa, he was a son of the late Linn R. and Peggy Morrison. Personal: He was the beloved husband of 33 years and best friend of 36 years to the former Kathleen Malone. Raised in Upper Darby, he earned a Bachelors Degree from California State University, Pa, and received his Masters Degree from the College of New Jersey. He taught as a Special Education teacher at the Midland School in Readington, NJ for 20 years and was most recently employed as an electrician by Granahan Electric in Doylestown, Pa. He was an avid golfer and loved many sports. Survivors: In addition to his wife Kathleen; he is survived by his loving children, Michael and his wife Shannon of Scotch Plains, NJ, Marie and her boyfriend John, both of Media, Pa and David of East Rockhill Township. He was the adoring grandfather of Lorelei, and caring brother of Susan Whittenburg and her husband Ben of Roxbury, NY. Frank was loved and adored by his brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed. A sister, Margie, died earlier. Services: Will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 17 Greenwich Church Road, Stewartsville, NJ. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rupell Memorial Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Memorials: Donations may be made to the American Heart Association; or to Habitat for Humanity.

Ilona Whiteside

Ilona Whiteside passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2008. Born: On November 16, 1936 in Budapest, Hungary, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth Takacs and Peter Sarosi. Personal: She and her husband, Ronald, were married on October 20, 1979. Ilona worked at NY Transformer in Alpha, NJ, Gary Lee Sportsware and Glen Magnetics, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed traveling. Her favorite places were Alaska and Hawaii. Ilona also enjoyed bowling and loved animals. Memberships: She was a member of Alpha Presbyterian Church and later of the Alpha Mennonite Church. Survivors: She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald; a daughter, Patricia Thompson of Mountaintop, Pa; a son, David Onody of West Windsor, NJ; a step-daughter, Valerie Holjes and her husband Richard of Palmer Township; a step-son, Mark Whiteside of Buttzville, NJ; five grandchildren; a brother, Peter of Budapest, Hungary, and several cousins in Hungary and Germany. A brother, Laszlo, died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be private. The Rupell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

William Thomas Tutty III

William Thomas Tutty III died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, suddenly at Warren Hospital. He was 47. Born in Dover, he lived most of his life in Roxbury, before moving to Phillipsburg. He graduated from Roxbury High School in 1979. He worked at CJM Trucking in Staten Island. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Myrtle Lowery and Gene Honeychurch; a son, William Tutty IV; and a daughter, Christina Tutty. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Doris (Lowery) Barras and Thomas Barras of Montague; three sons, Joshua Tutty of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Mathew, and Justin Tutty of Roxbury; a sister, Teresa (Villano) DeGroot of Frankford; two brothers, Peter Villano of Fullerton, Calif., and Roger Tutty of Stillwater; one grandson, Jace Tutty of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; one niece; and five nephews. He also is survived by Brenda Itterly and Darlene Tutty. A Memorial Service is at Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, N.J. Leah E. Hoffman

Leah E. Hoffman, 85, formerly of Stewartsville, NJ, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008. Born: On October 16, 1922 in Harmony Township, NJ, she was a daughter of the late John Calvin and Gladys Ruth Rush Werkheiser. Personal: She and her husband, Robert F., observed their 65th wedding anniversary on January 31, 2007. Leah was a homemaker. She attended Belvidere High School and was an avid gardener. She loved to cook and bake for her family and her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren. Memberships: Leah was a longtime member of the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church, Stewartsville, NJ. She was a member of the Women's Association of the church, former deacon and also a former financial secretary for the church. Survivors: In addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L. Hardick and her husband George of Canfield, Ohio; a brother, John C. Werkheiser Jr. and his wife Patricia of Palmer Township, Pa, whom Leah raised as a son, and his family, Tammy Baumeister of Hellertown, Pa, Robert J. Werkheiser of Arizona, John C. Werkheiser III of Palmer Township, and Aiden Baumeister; a brother, Larry Werkheiser of Oxford, NJ; two sisters, Joyce Zamintakus of Hudson, Fla., and Shirley Gero of Mt. Bethel, Pa; two grandchildren, David Hardick and his wife Jackie of Canonsburg, Pa and Donna Hardick of Canfield, Ohio, and three great-grandchildren, Bailey Hardick, and Kaitlyn and Christina Hardick. Three brothers, Carl, Harold and Wayne Werkheiser, and four sisters, Ada Beers, France Werkheiser, Freda Cicale and Carol Hart, all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Montana cemetery, Harmony Township, NJ. Shirley M. Small

Shirley M. Small, 80, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Harmony Township, NJ, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 at Manorcare, Palmer Township, Pa. Born: On June 14, 1927 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Morton V. and Ruth Savitz Maloney. Personal: Her husband, Francis R., passed away in 1982. At one time, Shirley had been an inspector for the Magnetic Winding Co., Palmer Township. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1944. Shirley enjoyed taking long walks and all of the outdoors, including nature and gardening. She was an avid football fan, but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. Memberships: She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg. Survivors: She is survived by a sister, Joan Little of Pasadena, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Charles, Thomas and Richard, and two sisters, Gladys Deremer and Judith Stem, all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township, Pa.
