LEONA KARSHMER, AGE 88, FORMERLY OF NEW BRUNSWICK
Leona Karshmer, 88, formerly of New Brunswick, died yesterday in Denver, Colo.
Arrangements will be announced by the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

LOUIS M. GLADSTONE, AGE 75, NORTH BRUNSWICK
Louis M. Gladstone, 75, of North Brunswick died yesterday at his residence.
Born in New York City, he lived in Tamarac, Fla. before moving to North Brunswick.
He worked at Electronics Boutique in Lauderhill, Fla. for five years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick.
He was the son of the late Max and Molly Gladstone. He was the widower of Bernice (Zimmerman) Gladstone, who died in Oct. 2000. He was also predeceased by his son, Mitchell, who died in 1984.
He is survived by his son, Richard of North Brunswick, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. today at New Montefoire Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island, N.Y.
The family requests donations be made to Sloan Kettering Cancer Research.
Arrangements are by the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

MARIAN FREEMAN, AGE 75, SOUTH AMBOY
Marian Farrell Freeman, 75, of South Amboy died Saturday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
She was born in and was a lifelong resident of South Amboy.
She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, South Amboy.
She was predeceased by her husband, James P. Freeman, in 1985; and a granddaughter, Megan Jordan, in 1999.
Surviving are three daughters, Sheila Rooney of Edison, Christine Jordan of Gastonia, N.C., and Lynn Kalendek of Spotswood; a brother, Paul Farrell of Sea Girt, and five grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main St., South Amboy, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's R.C. Church. Burial will be at Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial & Honor Program, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

MICHAEL A. GARRONE SR., AGE 82, MELROSE
Michael A. "Sonny" Garrone Sr., 82, of Melrose died Saturday at the Carriage House Manor, Sayreville.
Born in Newark, Mr. Garrone lived there until moving to Sayreville 42 years ago.
Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was a truck driver and rigger for over 30 years: first for McMahon in Elizabeth, and later for Hoffman of Piscataway and Reiss of Newark.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Mr. Garrone was a parishioner of St. Mary R.C. Church, South Amboy, and was a member of the parish's Senior Citizens Club. He was a member and current officer of South Amboy Council 426, Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Sayreville Senior Citizens Thursday Club. He was also a member of Local 478 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
His son, Michael A. Garrone Jr., died in 1995. His brother, Salvatore, died in 1999.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Figliuolo; a son, Alan of Sayreville; two brothers, Anthony of Elizabeth, and Fred of Manahawkin; a sister, Beatrice Finley of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Angela, Michael and Robert, and two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Mikey.
Services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Whiteley Funeral Home, 241 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary R.C. Church. Burial will follow at the N.J. Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
Friends may call tomorrow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Kid's Christmas Party, 308 4th St., South Amboy, NJ 08879.

TERENCE C. FERRARO, AGE 57, EDISON
Terence C. Ferraro, 57, of Edison died Friday at home.
Born on May 4, 1944 in Perth Amboy, he resided almost his entire life in Edison.
He attained his teaching degree from Monmouth College in 1967. He was a schoolteacher for 31 years with the Woodbridge school system at Colonia High School, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Nature Conservancy, the Retired Teachers Association, AARP, the NJ Council of Teachers in English, the New England Woodcarvers Inc., and the National Woodcarvers Association. He was the winner of the First Annual Carver's Poetry Contest. In 1991, he finished in second and third place for his wood carvings at the Middlesex County Fair.
He was predeceased by his late father, Charles; and his late mother, Estelle Kordiak, who died in 1995.
Memorial services from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial visiting will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.

GENEVIEVE F. FARRELL JACOBSEN of MIDDLETOWN
GENEVIEVE F. FARRELL JACOBSEN of MIDDLETOWN died yesterday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a legal secretary at Atkins, Weymar and McDonald, New York. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was a former member of the Rosary Society of Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Brooklyn. She was a member of the Socializers Club of Shadow Lake Village, Middletown. Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Middletown 12 years ago.
Her husband, Edmund P., died in 1989 and a brother, Edmund Farrell, died in 1991. She was also predeceased by two parents, Patrick and Genevieve Farrell. Surviving are two sons, Edmund of Stockholm and Kevin of Monroe, N.Y.; three daughters, Genevieve Cunningham of Lincroft, Middletown, Elizabeth Jacobsen of Old Bridge and Carole Dowd of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; a sister, Cathleen Walsh of Warwick, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Red Bank. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn.

MARSHALL E. DIGMON, 80, of ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, died at the Monmo
MARSHALL E. DIGMON, 80, of ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, died at the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was an apartment supervisor for 25 years before retiring. He also worked for many newspapers in the United States and Canada; he was circulation manager for the Niagara Falls Gazette.
He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Digmon; and a sister, Dorothy Staubitz. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Jean; a son, Gordon Digmon; three daughters, Barbara Giancola, Patricia Maden, and Sandra Bernal; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the All Saints Memorial Church, Navesink. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monmouth Hospice or the Portland Point Senior Citizens Building, Atlantic Highlands.

THOMAS J. ARATA JR., 22, of RED BANK
THOMAS J. ARATA JR., 22, of RED BANK, died Saturday at home. He was a clerk for the Laboratory Information Services at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a 1997 graduate of Henry Hudson Regional High School. He enjoyed computers and was working toward his Microsoft certification. Born in Long Branch, he lived in Atlantic Highlands before moving to Red Bank last June.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas J. and Susan Womack Arata of Atlantic Highlands; a brother, Paul Arata of Atlantic Highlands; and a maternal grandfather, Raymond E. Womack of Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Posten's Funeral Home, 59 E. Lincoln Ave. at Central Avenue, Atlantic Highlands. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Owen Womack officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AIDS Resource Foundation for Children, 182 Roseville Ave., Newark, NJ 07107.
