MARIA F. GALLEGOS, 79, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Monday at Northeastern Regional Hospital.
She was born in Wagon Mound. She was married in Las Vegas, N.M., in 1947. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to crochet. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tranquilino Chavez and Cristina Armijo Chavez; husband, Max H. Gallegos Sr.; and son, Johnny "Billy" Gallegos. She is survived by her daughters, Maxine Wisniewski and husband Henry K. of Los Lunas, Annabell Vickers and husband Matthew of Novi, Mich., Mary Lou Gallegos and husband Danny Archuleta and Vera Griego, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; stepsons: Max Gallegos Jr. of San Jose, Calif., and Arthur Gallegos and wife Mary of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Irene Chavez of Wagon Mound; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the same church followed by cremation. GRACE S. GALLEGOS MARTINEZ of Santa Fe died Tuesday. She was born in the Agua Fria village and lived in her family home next to San Isidro Church. She worked all her life in retail at Lazaar's, Bell's, Santa Fe Electric Laundry, Bonanza City and Anthony's. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Martinez; parents, Antonio and Guadalupita Gallegos; and sisters, Stella Wahnon, Jackie Bradley and Dolores Montoya. She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Y. Ortiz and husband Thomas (Tito), Kathleen Y. Herrera and husband Ted; eight grandchildren; sisters, Effie Trujillo, Virginia Childress and husband Roy, Rose Meyer and husband Edward, Susie Hamblett and husband Art and Marylou Lain all of California; brothers, Tony Gallegos and wife Marcella of California, Salomon Gallegos and wife Becky, all of Santa Fe; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at San Isidro Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the same church with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. LEO "CHAMFER" ARCHULETA, 59, of Watrous died Thursday.
He worked for the state Highway Department for the past 20 years. He was an Operator 2 with the bridge crew. He loved spending time with his wife fishing, playing horseshoes and camping. He enjoyed hunting with his sons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Lucy Archuleta.
He is survived by his wife, Prescilla of the family home; sons, Charlie Archuleta and wife Denise of Ribera; Cisco Archuleta of Santa Fe; Tom Archuleta and wife, Valerie, of Las Vegas, N.M.; Leo "Poldo" Archuleta and wife, Bernice, of Albuquerque; daughter, Janet Archuleta and companion Rayo of Rio Rancho; a granddaughter whom he raised as a daughter, Heriberta Hernandez; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Stella Garcia and husband, Richard, of Watrous; Celestino Ortiz and Theresa Trujillo and husband, Jerry, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; Adelina Martinez and husband, Louis, of Gallinas, Lalo Archuleta and wife, Sadie, of Wagon Mound; Matty Hall and husband, Tom, of Wyoming; special family friend, Esther Romero of Wagon Mound; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Sacred Heart Church in Watrous. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the same church. Burial will be held in the Watrous Cemetery at a later date.

JOHN A. DI JANNI, 94, of Santa Fe died Tuesday.
He had a long and impressive musical career. In 1936, he became principal violist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York, succeeding his father, Albino DiJanni. For nine years, he and his father occupied the first desk. He was appointed personnel manager of the orchestra by Sir Rudolf Bing in 1969 while still maintaining his post as principal violist. He devoted a great deal of his time as faculty member of the Congress of Strings at Michigan State University and Skidmore College mentoring outstanding string players competitively selected to participate in this endeavor, sponsored by the American Federation of Musicians. During his summer engagements from 1960 to 1964, he was appointed principal violist of the Santa Fe Opera under the leadership of John O. Crosby. He also played at that time as principal of the Santa Fe Concert Association under the leadership of John Mullen. Upon his retirement in 1975 from the Metropolitan Opera, he and his wife moved to Santa Fe, where he became principal violist of the Orchestra of Santa Fe (1976-1979), Santa Fe Symphony (1981-1986) and Roswell Symphony (1987-1992), and played in the New Mexico Symphony and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. He was a faculty member at the University of New Mexico (1980-1985). He has played as principal violist under such world-famous conductors as Artur Bodansky, Igor Stravinsky, Paul Hindemith, Dimitri Metropoulus, Andre Kostalanitz, Eric Leinsdorf, Julius Rudel, Fritz Reiner, Bruno Walter, Leonard Bernstein, John Crosby, Cesare Sodero, George Salti, Pierre Boulez and Kurt Masur.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and of the Masonic Montezuma Lodge No. 1, both in Santa Fe; Euclid Lodge in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.; and Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albino and Regina Di Janni; brothers, Joseph Di Janni and Ralph Lucia; and sister, Aida La Rosa.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Rupp Di Janni; sons, John C. Di Janni and wife, Jan, and Robert A. Di Janni and wife, Maureen; five grandchildren; sisters, Angela Murphy of New York and Albina Giordano of New Jersey; and many other relatives, friends, and students.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church on Grant Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Santa Fe Youth Symphony, 551 W. Cordova Road, No. 190, Santa Fe, N.M., 87505.

MARIANITA LOPEZ, 92, of Santa Fe died Wednesday.
She was born and raised in Cienega, Rancho de Guicú, on the Simms ranch, where she often rode her horse Prince through the hills. A boarder and graduate of Loretto Academy, she taught grades one through eight in a one-room classroom in Cienega. She entertained her family with humor. Her hobbies included reading and sewing. She was a parishioner of Cristo Rey Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. In 1934, she married Juan Pablo Lopez and was a loving matriarch to their large family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Pablo; son, Paul Orlando; and daughter, Anita.
She is survived by her children, Mary Catanach and husband Jerry, Sylvia Lopez, and David Lopez and wife Liz; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the same church with burial to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

GRACE B. MARSHALL, 74, of Santa Fe died Saturday after a long illness.
She was born in Pojoaque. She earned her master's degree in secondary education and taught in the Española and Santa Fe school systems for about 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Maria Bustos Sr. and Margarita Shoemaker Bustos.
She is survived by her sisters, Teresa B. Borrego and, husband Juan F.; Celsa B. Lucero and husband, Tom; Margarita B. Trujillo and husband, Henry; Concha B. Collier and husband, Perry; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Community.

CLAUDIA L. THEODORE BOLLETER, 55, of Las Cruces died Saturday.
She was a former resident of Santa Fe. She was born in Bronx, New York. She was married in 1965 in Aspen, Colo. She moved to Santa Fe from Taos with her family. Later with her parents, she started and operated Ernie's Restaurant from 1976 to 1989 on Old Santa Fe Trail. She was very active in the Chamber of Commerce, past president of Los Compadres which operated the 4th of July Pancake Breakfast on the Plaza and was an active member of Jay Miller and Friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, George.
She is survived by her husband, Ernst Bolleter of Las Cruces; sons, James Ted Bolleter and wife Joann and George A. "Tony" Bolleter, all of Santa Fe; mother, Tabby L. Theodore of Las Cruces; brother, Peter Theodore and wife Amelia of Dallas; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be donated to The United Church of Santa Fe, 1804 Arroyo Chamiso, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at The United Church of Santa Fe on the corner of Arroyo Chamiso and St. Michael's Drive, followed by a reception.
