SAMUEL T. "CHUCO" MARTINEZ, 75, of Chimayó died Wednesday after a short illness. He was a well-known mechanic in Chimayó. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He served for about 25 years as mardromo for the ditches in Chimayó. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tonita Martinez; parents, Emilio and Primitia Martinez; sister, Martina Martinez; brother, Emilio Martinez Jr. and stepson, Eddie Martinez. He is survived by his sons, Samuel Martinez Jr. and companion Jessica Gonzales and Anthony Martinez and companion Maria Acosta, all of Chimayó; stepsons, Victor Martinez of Española and Mike Martinez of Santa Fe; stepdaughters, Adelia Martinez and husband Clyde and Lou Ellen Vigil and husband William, all of Española; brothers, Willie Martinez and wife Lydia of El Guique, Ernesto Martinez and wife Olivama of Española and Bidelio Martinez of Chimayó; sister, Emma Lopez of La Puebla and close friend, Joe Avila of Chimayó; and many other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 8:30 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home in Española with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. JOSE MARGARITO DURAN, 85, of Talpa died Friday.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin and Joseph Duran; and sister, Rosita Griego.
He is survived by his wife, Margarita Duran; children, Betty Vigil and husband Gilbert of Talpa, Manuel L. Duran and wife Rose and Evelyn D. Anaya and husband Steve of Ranchitos; Gustavo L. Duran and wife Irma of Ranchos de Taos, Herbert J. Duran and wife Andrea of Albuquerque; sisters, Clarita Griego, Lydia Romero and husband Tony, Cecilia Torrez and husband Anselmo, and Alice Gonzales and Lily Archuleta; seven grandchildren; and many other relatives.

JOSEPH "PETE" HURTADO, 50, of Ribera died Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque after a sudden illness.
He was born in Las Vegas, N.M. He was raised in Ribera and moved to Muleshoe, Texas, where he lived for 13 years before moving back to Ribera in 1987. He was former president of the San Miguel Del Vado Land Grant, a member of the National Rifle Association and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an expert in rock landscaping. He was a member of the San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel.
He was preceded in death by his father, Locario Hurtado Sr.; sister, Mary Rose Garcia; and brother, Nicasio Hurtado.
He is survived by his mother, Florinda S. Hurtado of Bernalillo; daughter, Monica Martinez and husband Jeff R. of Española; son, Joseph P. Hurtado Jr. and wife Leah of Canyon, Texas; three grandsons; mother of his children, Margie Gervacio of Española; sisters and brothers, Teresa Hurtado of Bernalillo; Paula Lucas and husband Antonio of California, Ernesto Hurtado and wife Camila, Lucario Hurtado Jr. and wife Corrine and Julie Hurtado, all of Ribera, and Pina Lopez and husband Zenom of Canyon, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the same church. Cremation will follow after services with private family burial at a later date.

DANNY MARTINEZ, 50, of the Mas O Menos subdivision north of Española died Sunday after a long battle with cancer.
He worked for many years as a professional sheetrocker. He was a parishioner of the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sam A. Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Martinez of the Mas O Menos subdivision; mother, Juanita G. Martinez of Albuquerque; daughters, Danielle L. Martinez and friend Gabriel Pino of Santa Fe and Jennifer S. Martinez and husband Dwayne Winslow of Albuquerque; stepson, Rafael Hernandez of Mas O Menos; father and mother-in-law: Louis and Emily Fernandez of Springer; four grandchildren; brothers, Samuel Martinez of Louisiana, Donald J. Martinez and wife Celina of Taos, David E. Martinez of Santa Fe and Michael Martinez and wife Linda of Abiquiu; sisters, Barbara Vail and husband Robert of Santa Fe, Frances McCalmont and husband Tom of Albuquerque and Anna Medina and husband Steve of Simi Valley, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial arrangements are pending and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you contact the funeral home for information on where donations may be sent.

LEONARD SANTIAGO MARTINEZ, 39, of Fairview died Saturday.
He is survived by his son, Santiago Martinez and wife Anna of Ranchitos; mother, Theresa Herrera; parents, Louis and Antonette Martinez; brothers, Louis M. Martinez and wife Janet; Joseph Martinez and wife Denise; sister, Louanna Martinez; one granddaughter; and many other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Block-Salazar Mortuary in Española. A committal service will be held at noon Wednesday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ANNA MARGERY STORRS, 91, of Santa Fe died Saturday.
She was born in 1912 and married in 1941 in Montreal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce D. Storrs; sisters, Florence McMaster and Alison Haywood; brother, Jack Bryson; and parents, John and Annabella Bryson.
She is survived by her son, Bruce B. Storrs, of Albuquerque; daughter, Nancy Roybal and husband Billy of Santa Fe; three granddaughters; sister, Joan Helmers of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; and many other relatives. Private burial services have taken place. Her family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be offered in her name to Health Care Odyssey, 1701 Old Pecos Trail, Suite B, Santa Fe, N.M., 87505.

DOROTHY JANE ADKISON, 86, of Santa Fe died Monday.
She was born in 1917 to Dr. Bernard Smith and Mildred Farragher Smith in Timberlake, S.D. After graduating from high school in Deadwood, S.D., she attended the University of Nebraska, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She was married in 1939 and then moved to Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Santa Rosa, Calif., where they lived for 25 years. They recently returned to Santa Fe to be close to family. A talented painter, gardener and homemaker, she brought beauty and a love of learning into the daily lives of her family and encouraged her children's development and success.
She is survived by her husband, Harold W. Adkison; children, Judith Adkison, and Harold William Adkison and wife Sharon; three grandchildren; brother, Dr. Bernard Smith; sisters, Mary Losch, Patricia Springer and Shirly Zuniga.

MARIA GUADALUPE PITA ARMIJO, 81, of Pecos died Wednesday after a long illness.
She was born in Pecos and married in 1946 at St. Anthony' s Parish. She earned her bachelor of arts degree from New Mexico Highlands University in education and taught in the Pecos Independent School District for more than 42 years. She was a member of the Pecos Senior Citizens Center, the Retired Teachers Association and Mayordomos at St. Anthony's Parish. She loved her family get-togethers and enjoyed working on projects and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Maria Roybal; and Cecilia R. Gonzales and Benito Roybal.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Armijo; daughters, Mary Ann Vigil and husband Fred and Edna Herrera and husband Richard; son, Michael Armijo and wife Betty; 12 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
