VALERIE S. MARTINEZ, 19, of El Rito died Friday after an automobile accident.
She was a 2003 graduate of Mesa Vista High School where she was captain of the cheerleading squad. She was currently a student at the Northern New Mexico Community College at the Espaņola Campus. She was also a substitute teacher at Mesa Vista School.
She is survived by her parents, Dennis and Rosita Martinez; brothers, Ernest, Toby and Jeffrey Martinez, all of El Rito; cousin raised like a sister, Suzanne Martinez of El Rito; boyfriend, Dennis Valdez Jr. of La Madera; cousin and best friend, Francisca Duran of El Rito; and many other relatives and friends.
Services have taken place.

OLIVIA QUINTANA, 76, of Questa died Friday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Quintana; daughter, Kathy Martinez; and parents, Santaigo and Eufemia Gallegos. She is survived by her children, Jay Quintana of Questa, Renee Romero and husband Dan of Arroyo Seco and Lisa Bailon and husband Patrick of Questa; eight grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Delores Duran and husband Louie, Gloria Ortiz and husband Ivan, Gilbert Gallegos, Orlando Gallegos and wife Lucy, Jimmy Gallegos and wife Albina; and many other relatives.
A rosary was held Sunday at St. Anthony's Church in Questa and Mass was celebrated Monday at the same church. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. today at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

DAMASIO SAMORA, 69, of Placitas and Ranchos de Taos died Thursday.
He is survived by his sister, Ray Sisco of Ranchos de Taos.
Mass was celebrated Monday at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church with burial held at Placitas Cemetery.

PENNI SINCLAIR, 79, of Los Alamos died Thursday.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Sinclair; twin sister, Ruth Davis of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Mavis Klopfer of Columbus, Ohio, and Mackin of Southfield, Mich.; George Faulkner Jr., who was raised as a son; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Los Alamos.

ELLSWORTH B. WATSON, 96, of Santa Fe died April 28.
He was born in Denver and graduated from East High School. He attended the Colorado School of Mines and earned a bachelor of science degree in metallurgy. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, ROTC, and the editor of the school's Prospector Newspaper. Upon graduation he worked for the Jones and Laughlin Steel Mills in Aliquippa, Pa. During World War II, he served as first lieutenant in the 5th Army and was stationed on the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. He was employed by Mountain Bell for 37 years before retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, was active in his church and the Braille Service of New Mexico. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph LeRoy Watson and Lena Mae Bowman; first wife, Nancy Mather Brown; second wife, Dorothy N. Glubranson; and son, Ralph LeRoy Watson II.
He is survived by his son, Ellworth B. Watson, Jr. of Santa Fe and wife Betty; daughter, Barbara Werner of North Richland Hills, Texas and husband Fred; and six grandchildren.
A memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church in Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church - Organ Fund.

GREGORIA "GRACE" JIMENEZ-C DE BACA died Tuesday after a short illness.
She was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eufracio; parents, Simon and Anita Jimenez; sisters, Sophia and Florencia; and brothers, Severiano and Simon. She is survived by her sister, Lionicia and husband Frank Garcia; daughters, Rosina and husband Norberto Villa, Viola and husband Eligio Varela, Marie Edwina and husband Scott Chapman; sons, Rudy and wife Joan, Simon and wife Priscilla, Tom and wife Agneda, Daniel and wife Karen and Gilbert C de Baca; 25 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 3 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Anne's Catholic Church. PHYLLIS FLORENCE GROVER, 80, of Santa Fe died Sunday at the Santa Fe Care Center.
She was the daughter of Samuel Bradman of New York and South Africa and Sue Bradman of Brooklyn, N.Y. She attended Cooper Union Art School in New York City from 1941-1943 until wartime interrupted her studies. She began her professional art career when she became a designer for American Export Airlines in New York City from 1942-1944. She then moved to High View, N.Y., in the Catskill Mountains foothills. She painted in her studio for 15 years, producing some of her finest works. She loved rocks and archaeology, and was an active member of the New York State Archaeological Society of Orange County, N.Y. While she was living in New York, she sometimes acted as a judge for art shows in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, but more to educate budding artists than for any other reason. She became co-founder of Art in the Home Gallery in Long Island, N.Y., and remained involved from 1960-1962. She attended the New School for Social Research in New York City from 1967-1968. She was a captain in the Women's Strike for Peace in Washington, D.C., in 1969. She was a member of NOW, the School of American Research and the Woman's Interart Association. Her achievements were best recognized when she was honored with the Best of Woman Art award in New York City in 1977 and 1978. She moved to Santa Fe and never wanted to leave. She loved the Southwest culture, the people and the geography. She joined the Santa Fe Historical Society and the Women in the Arts Association. She was a painter of abstract impressionism, painting in oils, acrylics and watercolors and drew with pastels, pen and ink, and silverpoint. Her work was exhibited at the Lincoln Center in New York City and in several galleries in Santa Fe. She loved music and played the piano frequently for visitors at her home. She was the recipient of The Editor's Choice Award in a national poetry competition and was a Distinguished Member of the International Society of Poets.
She is survived by her husband, Saul Grover, of Santa Fe; children, Keith Jay Grover of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Jennet Wendy Grover of Livemore, Colo.; and sister, Elaine Shlomberg of Boca Raton, Fla.
Private informal get-togethers will replace traditional memorial services.

PHILLIP LEYBA, 69, of Santa Fe died Thursday.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He worked for the state of New Mexico for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine; children, Phillip Jr. and partner Susie, Tony, John and Kathy Leyba of Englewood Colo., Patricia, Pete and partner Sofia, and Angela; three grandsons; brother, Eppie Leyba and family; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at noon Monday at St. Francis Cathedral followed by burial with full military honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
