NEIL R. OTERO, 101, of Santa Fe died recently.
She was born in Sparta, Mo., and grew up in the Ozarks. After completing her degree in education, she followed her mother, Eva J. Roberts, to New Mexico and pursued her career in education. She taught in Missouri, Kansas and New Mexico, including Santa Fe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore M. Otero.
She is survived by her sister, Grace Beamon; children, Eduardo and Betty Otero, Pepita and John Park, Dolores Lawrence, Florentina Helgeson Cooper and Ernie Cooper, and Theodore II and Sandy Otero; 23 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Mass will celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Cathedral followed by burial at Manderfield Mausoleum, Rosario Cemetery. 983-2322.

CARLOS K. ROMERO, 22, of Española died unexpectedly Saturday.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Romero.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Romero; and brother, Alex Romero, both of Española; father, Alex Romero Sr. of California; girlfriend, Vanessa Chacon of Española; uncle that was like a father, Vincent "Chopper" Lopez of Chamita; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Chamita.

ROBERT D. 'ROBBY' ROMERO, 39, of Santa Fe died Monday after a short illness. He was born to Elizardo and Delfina Romero in 1964. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1982 and New Mexico State University in 1991. He was owner and operator of Computers Unlimited. He loved fishing, reading and snow skiing. He was a member of St. Anne's Parish.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Romero.
He is survived by his parents, Elizardo and Delfina Romero; brothers, David Romero and wife Monica and Lawrence Romero and wife Geraldine; sister, Charlene McBride and husband Dan; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at McGee Memorial Chapel. The Catholic Daughters will recite a rosary at 6 p.m. Wednesday and La Sociedad de Coloniales will recite a rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the same chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to NMSU Alumni, P. O. Box 30004, Las Cruces, NM 88003.

TONY EARNEST SAIZ, JR., 53, died Saturday after a long illness.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, tennis and softball. He enjoyed playing pool for most of his life, winning many local and regional tournaments. He was a talented photographer who earned national recognition for images of his beloved home state of New Mexico. He was an integral part of Saiz Plumbing and Heating Co., a family-owned business founded in 1917 by his grandfather Guadalupe Saiz. He worked side by side with his father, Tony Sr., and brothers and nephews for most of his life. He had contracted a very rare disease called scleroderma, which was further complicated by an additional rare disease called Raynaud's syndrome. He never lost hope that a cure for his illness would be found. He was an active member of the Scleroderma Foundation, a group dedicated to the support, education, and research of this terminal disease.
He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Eduardo.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Margaret; brothers, Arthur, James and wife, Kathy; Philip, and Vincent Saiz; sisters, Martha and husband, Alan Kossman; Ann and husband, Rick Padilla; Nancy and Hollie Saiz, and Stacey and husband, David Garcia; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

RAYMOND LUIS SALAZAR, 60, of Santa Fe died Sunday.
He retired from the carpenters union after 24 years of service in Santa Fe and surrounding communities. He supervised and assisted in the construction of numerous buildings in the area. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police for the past 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fedelina Armijo Salazar; father, Fedelino Salazar; and sister, Nellie Lucero.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Ray Jr. and wife Toni of San Antonio, Texas, Anthony and fiancé, Anna Montoya; and Patrick and wife Letitia, all of Santa Fe; daughters, Rosabelle Hernandez and husband, David, of Las Vegas, N.M.; Jeanette Weiler and husband Tom of Corrales; stepson, Bruce Parks of Pueblo, Colo.; stepdaughters, Kathy Parks of Las Vegas, Nev., Susan Parks of Santa Fe, Laurie San Miguel and husband Rafael of Pueblo, Colo.; brothers, Ignacio and wife Elda, Lalo and Anna, Jerry and wife Catherine, Henry and wife Lorraine, all of Santa Fe; sisters, Mary Gallegos and husband Adrian, Julie Fode and husband Steve, Kathy Villegas and husband Jose; 18 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

DARLENE DIANE SCHIFANI, 77, died Tuesday of cancer.
She was born in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orla Victoria and Clarence Elmer Anderson of Pipestone, Minn.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Daniel Schifani; daughters, Pati Pfeil and husband, Robin, of Buffalo, N.Y., and Cindi Schifani of Albuquerque; son, Ricky Schifani of Santa Fe; two grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel (visitation hours will end at 9:00 p.m.). Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Cathedral with burial to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

WILLIE GARCIA, 84, of Santa Fe died Sunday after a short illness.
He was born in Ojo de la Vaca. He served his country in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from PNM and worked as a journeyman pipe fitter and also retired from the State of New Mexico as a security guard. He was an active fisherman and loved the great outdoors, spending time camping with his wife and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricio Garcia and Julia De Aguerro; sister, Rose Montes; and brother, Alfredo Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Elvira Garcia; sons, Eluid Levi Martinez and wife Suzzane and Joe M. Lopez and wife Elvira; daughters, Candelaria Lucero and husband Marcelino and Viola Goss and husband Charles; 18 grandchildren; brother, Pat Garcia; and many other relatives. A visitation will be held 6-7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at McGee Memorial Chapel. Mass will celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
