IVAN ERIC TRUJILLO, 25, of Medanales died Saturday following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was known as a very lovable person. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed his cars and took good care of them. He was a great father who loved his children very much.
He is survived by his daughter, Amethyst Destiny of Santa Fe; son, Lorenzo Mateo of Alcalde; parents, Rick and Merna Romero of Medanales; close cousin, Amber Trujillo of Medanales; biological father, Clarence Maestas of Española; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the same church with burial to follow at Medanales Cemetery.

GOV. JACOB VIARRIAL, 58, of Pojoaque died Sunday of natural causes in Juarez, Mexico.
He was the governor of the Pueblo of Pojoaque for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Feliciana Viarrial; brother, Margarito Viarrial; and sisters, Maria Inez and Frances Viarrial.
He was a very kind and generous man and loved helping people. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years and received an honorable discharge. He was a Vietnam veteran. He was a father figure to all his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his sisters, Cordie Gomez, Dora Martinez, Phoebe Petty and Josefina Villarreal; brother, Ben Viarrial and wife Flora, Jim and Ralph Viarrial, all of the Pueblo of Pojoaque; good friends, Sen. Nancy Rodriguez of Santa Fe, Melissa Salazar of El Guique, Araceli Maspons from Juarez, Mexico, Frank Demolli from Pojoaque, Joe Trujillo, Sen. Pete Domenici of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque with burial to follow at Pojoaque Cemetery.

LUIS T. VIGIL, 71, of Rio Chiquito died Saturday.
He was born to Juan and Patricia Vigil in Cundiyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra G. Vigil; and brothers, Ricardo T. Vigil and Rudy Vigil.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores T. Vigil; sons, Lloyd A. Vigil and wife Maggie of Rio Chiquito and Philly G. Vigil and wife Yvonne of Cundiyo; daughters, Doris G. Lopez and husband Chris of Cundiyo and Louise M. Garcia and husband Lionel of Arroyo Seco; sisters, Sabina Cordova of Cundiyo, Olivia Ortiz and husband Arturo of La Mesilla, Ilean Martinez and husband Edumenio of Chimayó, Sylvia Trujillo and husband Bedelio of Arroyo Seco; sisters, Law Della Vigil of Chimayó and Tina Trujillo of Rio Chiquito ; stepmother, Manuelita Vigil of Española; and 10 grandchildren.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rio Chiquito Cemetery.

JEAN ABEL, 85, of Santa Fe died Thursday following a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henri Abel. She was born in Glendale, Calif., the daughter of John and Caroline Grey. She married Henri Abel in New Jersey in 1954. She earned her master's degree in social work from Columbia University, where she was employed as a social worker for 10 years until her marriage. She was in the Red Cross during World War II and traveled to the Far East to help return the wounded to the United States. She was an avid quilter, cook and reader. She was devoted to her family. She spent the last 10 years of her life living near her daughter, Louise. She delighted in walking to the Plaza for her favorite croissant and tea. She is survived by her daughters, Louise Abel and husband Boudinot Atterbury and Ernestine McBride and husband Patrick; five grandchildren; stepdaughters, Alice Holzapfel, Henriette Stackpole and Jean Abel; 15 stepgrandchildren; and many other relatives. PAT A. CATANACH, 51, of Santa Fe died suddenly Saturday. He loved riding around, listening to Spanish music and visiting his many friends and family. He loved teasing and laughing and telling jokes. He had nicknames for everyone he knew.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Antonia Catanach. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen Catanach, son, Chris; daughter, Melissa; brothers and sisters, Celine and Ralph Miller, Jerry Catanach and Mary, Cecilia Medina and Joe, Clara Catanach, and Gene Catanach and Virgie; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary. JOHNNY M. MARTINEZ, 60, of Santa Fe died suddenly Saturday. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Rosemary, Tommie and Lawrence. He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., the son of Juan and Isabel Benavidez. He was employed at the Hilton, Inn of Loretto, the University of Wyoming and the Presbyterian Church. He was a volunteer for Gary King, Jim Trujillo and others. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, joking and laughing. He was a very caring and social person, always willing to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his partner, Cecilia Lopez; daughter, Paula Martinez; sons, Michael Martinez and wife Erika and mother Darlene Perez, and Arthur Lopez and wife Berna; two grandchildren; stepchildren; parents; sisters, Connie Coca and husband John, Irene Graston and husband Paul, Denise Benavidez and husband Angelo, Anamay Gonzales and husband David; brothers, Mac Martinez and wife Georgia, Robert Benavidez, Ralph Benavidez and Paul Benavidez; and many other relatives and friends. TOBIAS "TOBY" THOMAS MARTINEZ, 44, of Wagon Mound died unexpectedly Saturday due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Wagon Mound, the son of the late Jose Matias Martinez and Aurora (Duran) Martinez. He was married to Linda Blattman in 2001. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was full of adventure, stories, laughter and lived his life his way. He had many friends and was always ready to crack a joke. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jose, Esequiel, Juna Robert (Barney) and Jose Matias; and sister, Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Linda Blattman Martinez of Wagon Mound; son, John Martinez of Los Lunas; daughters, Christina Martinez of Los Lunas and Angelic Martinez of Springer; brothers, Louis Martinez and wife Lucille of St. Louis, Macario Martinez of Albuquerque, Arturo Martinez and wife Carol of Springer, Paul Martinez, Andy Martinez and wife Kathy and Vincent Martinez, all of Wagon Mound, and Eric Sandoval of Chicago; sisters, Frances Lovato and husband Richard and Dorothy Martinez, all of Wagon Mound; and many other relatives and friends. DAVID ORTEGA, 87, of Chimayó died Sunday. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he met his wife, Jeanine Williamson Ortega. A sixth-generation master weaver and a successful businessman, he helped build the family business, Ortega's Weaving Shop, into a world-renowned enterprise. He took an ancient craft done by an almost-forgotten people and built it into one of New Mexico's most recognizable traditions. His weavings are in hundreds of private collections, as well as in the Museum of International Folk Art, the Albuquerque Museum and others. In 2000, he was the recipient of the Museum of Fiber Arts Festival of Traditional Cultures of the Southwest lifetime achievement award. He served on the Holy Family Church Parish in Chimayó, when they stabilized the structural integrity of the Santuario de Chimayó and built a new parish church. He served as president of the Chimayó Community Organization, which brought natural gas, the fire department and a landfill to Chimayó. In the 1960s, he was on the organizing committee of the Spanish Colonial Art Society that reinstated Spanish Market. He was chairman of the Acequia de los Ortegas for many years. He was Grand Knight of the Española Valley Knights of Columbus Council 3314, a patron of the Chimayó Cultural Preservation Association and was instrumental in establishing the Chimayó Museum and taking care of the Orartorio de San Benaventura chapel in the Plaza del Cerro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicasio and Virginia Trujillo Ortega; wife, Jeanine; infant son, Michael; brothers, Jose Ramon, Ricardo and Medardo; and sister, Martha Maestas. He is survived by his sons, Chris and wife Helen of White Rock, Alan and wife Veronica of El Paso, Andrew and wife Evita of San Pedro and Robert J. Ortega of Santa Fe; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Burial has taken place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. ANTONIO TONY "KANGA" D. RENDON, 43, of Arroyo Hondo died unexpectedly Saturday.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Rendon.
He is survived by his daughter, Elena Isabel Rendon; mother, Isabelle T. Rendon; brother, Charlie Roy Rendon, all of Arroyo Hondo; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nuestra Señora de Dolores Church Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo with burial to follow at Upper Arroyo Hondo Cemetery.

MARTIN S. TRUJILLO, 63, of Pojoaque died Sunday following a sudden illness. He was a semi-retired, self-employed drywaller. He was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salomon and Eliza Trujillo; brother, Patricio Trujillo; and sister, Cecilia Woods. He is survived by his wife, Loyola Trujillo; children, Robert Trujillo and companion Lenora DeCost, Alfred Trujillo and companion Rita Gallegos, Patricia Trujillo and boyfriend Clarence Maestas; sister, Mary Quintana and husband Bobby of Pojoaque; brothers, Willie Trujillo and wife Bennie and Jake Trujillo and wife Diane, all of Pojoaque, John Trujillo and wife Anna and Tony Trujillo and wife Stella, all of Nambé, Orlando Trujillo of Albuquerque, Michael Roybal and wife Jean, David Roybal and wife Cecila, Philly Joe, Gerard and Peter Roybal, Leo Roybal and wife Monica; one grandson; and many other relatives and friends.
