TOBIAS "TOBY" THOMAS MARTINEZ, 44, of Wagon Mound died unexpectedly Saturday due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Wagon Mound, the son of the late Jose Matias Martinez and Aurora (Duran) Martinez. He was married to Linda Blattman in 2001. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was full of adventure, stories, laughter and lived his life his way. He had many friends and was always ready to crack a joke. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jose, Esequiel, Juna Robert (Barney) and Jose Matias; and sister, Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Linda Blattman Martinez of Wagon Mound; son, John Martinez of Los Lunas; daughters, Christina Martinez of Los Lunas and Angelic Martinez of Springer; brothers, Louis Martinez and wife Lucille of St. Louis, Macario Martinez of Albuquerque, Arturo Martinez and wife Carol of Springer, Paul Martinez, Andy Martinez and wife Kathy and Vincent Martinez, all of Wagon Mound, and Eric Sandoval of Chicago; sisters, Frances Lovato and husband Richard and Dorothy Martinez, all of Wagon Mound; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same church with burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. DAVID ORTEGA, 87, of Chimayó died Sunday. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he met his wife, Jeanine Williamson Ortega. A sixth-generation master weaver and a successful businessman, he helped build the family business, Ortega's Weaving Shop, into a world-renowned enterprise. He took an ancient craft done by an almost-forgotten people and built it into one of New Mexico's most recognizable traditions. His weavings are in hundreds of private collections, as well as in the Museum of International Folk Art, the Albuquerque Museum and others. In 2000, he was the recipient of the Museum of Fiber Arts Festival of Traditional Cultures of the Southwest lifetime achievement award. He served on the Holy Family Church Parish in Chimayó, when they stabilized the structural integrity of the Santuario de Chimayó and built a new parish church. He served as president of the Chimayó Community Organization, which brought natural gas, the fire department and a landfill to Chimayó. In the 1960s, he was on the organizing committee of the Spanish Colonial Art Society that reinstated Spanish Market. He was chairman of the Acequia de los Ortegas for many years. He was Grand Knight of the Española Valley Knights of Columbus Council 3314, a patron of the Chimayó Cultural Preservation Association and was instrumental in establishing the Chimayó Museum and taking care of the Orartorio de San Benaventura chapel in the Plaza del Cerro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicasio and Virginia Trujillo Ortega; wife, Jeanine; infant son, Michael; brothers, Jose Ramon, Ricardo and Medardo; and sister, Martha Maestas. He is survived by his sons, Chris and wife Helen of White Rock, Alan and wife Veronica of El Paso, Andrew and wife Evita of San Pedro and Robert J. Ortega of Santa Fe; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Burial has taken place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. ANTONIO TONY "KANGA" D. RENDON, 43, of Arroyo Hondo died unexpectedly Saturday. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Rendon. He is survived by his daughter, Elena Isabel Rendon; mother, Isabelle T. Rendon; brother, Charlie Roy Rendon, all of Arroyo Hondo; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nuestra Señora de Dolores Church Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo with burial to follow at Upper Arroyo Hondo Cemetery. MARTIN S. TRUJILLO, 63, of Pojoaque died Sunday following a sudden illness. He was a semi-retired, self-employed drywaller. He was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salomon and Eliza Trujillo; brother, Patricio Trujillo; and sister, Cecilia Woods. He is survived by his wife, Loyola Trujillo; children, Robert Trujillo and companion Lenora DeCost, Alfred Trujillo and companion Rita Gallegos, Patricia Trujillo and boyfriend Clarence Maestas; sister, Mary Quintana and husband Bobby of Pojoaque; brothers, Willie Trujillo and wife Bennie and Jake Trujillo and wife Diane, all of Pojoaque, John Trujillo and wife Anna and Tony Trujillo and wife Stella, all of Nambé, Orlando Trujillo of Albuquerque, Michael Roybal and wife Jean, David Roybal and wife Cecila, Philly Joe, Gerard and Peter Roybal, Leo Roybal and wife Monica; one grandson; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque with burial to follow at Pojoaque Cemetery. DOMINICO ANDRONICO MAESTAS, 84, of Española, died Tuesday.
He was born in Los Pachecos and resided in Alcalde, Crockett and San Francisco, Calif. He was retired from the C&H Sugar Refinery in California. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. KENNY "JARA" JARAMILLO, 44, of San Pedro, died Wednesday following a long illness. He was a graduate of Española Valley High School and attended Highlands University. He was an electrician by trade and also an auto mechanic. To his many friends he was affectionately known as "Jara." He is survived by his sons, Jesse Jaramillo and Tim Jaramillo; one grandson, all of Gilbert, Ariz.; parents, Solomon and Erma Jaramillo; brother, Larry Jaramillo and wife Shirley, all of San Pedro; sisters, Marlene Roybal and husband David of Cundiyo, Darlene Martin and husband Rudy of Dixon, Simone Nez and husband Gordon of Gallup, Marina Salazar and husband Joey of Taylor Ranch in Albuquerque, and Kimberly Montoya and husband Jose of San Pedro; and many other relatives and friends. LINDA MARTINEZ, 39, of Santa Fe died Wednesday.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marcelino Martinez Sr. of Santa Fe.
She is survived by her son, Dano Martinez; daughter, Andrea Martinez and their father, Del Montoya; mother, Rose C. Martinez of Santa Fe; sister, Mary Martinez of Mesa, Ariz.; brothers, Marcelino Martinez Jr. of Santa Fe, Louie and wife, Angie Martinez, of Santa Fe, Steve Martinez of California, Johnny Martinez, Tony and wife, Michell Martinez, and Eddie Martinez, all of Santa Fe; close friend Sharon Martinez; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday with a rosary to be recited at San Isidro Catholic Church. JOSE ENCARNACION ROMERO of the Española Valley died Thursday following a long illness.
He did carpentry work and was a farmer and businessman. He preached Christianity in California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. He and his wife represented northern New Mexico senior citizens, having been crowned King and Queen Sweethearts for 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emelecio and Anita Romero; brothers, Daniel, Archie and Rubio Romero, sister, Adela Montoya and stepson, Jimmy Montoya.
He is survived by his wife, Vicentita Romero of Española, children, Dennis Romero, Lucy Romero Gonzales and Esther Martinez of Albuquerque, Joe Romero Jr. of Española, Annie Medina and husband Arturo of Chimayó, Lita Frampton and companion Frank Martinez of Santa Cruz, and David Romero and companion Eileen of Española; stepdaughter, Angie Maestas and husband Johnny of Chili; granddaughter raised as a daughter, Stephanie Montoya and husband Toby of Española; siblings, C.B. Romero, Joe B. Romero and wife Andreita and Cora Maestas and husband Antonio of Española; 16 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sangre De Cristo Chapel in the DeVargas Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Santa Fe.

LEROY SENA, 53, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Thursday at his home.
He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., to Eloy Sena and Rose Chavez Sena. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a private first class and specialized as a wheel tractor operator. He earned various citations. His military occupational speciality was automotive repairman. He was a disabled American Veteran of America. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and four wheeling.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Kaily Sena; and brother, Herman Sena.
He is survived by his parents; son, Pablo Sena, and his mother, Lorraine Sena, of Albuquerque; daughter, Alicia Sena, and her mother, Elena Montoya of Las Vegas, N.M.; two grandchildren; brothers, Eloy Sena Jr. of Las Vegas, N.M., Tony Sena and wife Charlene of La Lagunita, Pat Sena and friend Lorraine Gomez of Las Vegas, N.M., Marvin Sena and Linda Gutierrez of Las Vegas, N.M.; and many other relatives and friends.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Rogers Chapel, 600 Reynolds Ave., Las Vegas, N.M. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the same chapel with burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

RUTH V. BACA, 84, of Española died Saturday.
She was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Española where she taught CCD and was a member of the Sacred Heart Society; she was a lifelong member of the Española Westside Community. She was a great cook and her children always loved her tamales for the holidays. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Tiburcio and Patrocinia Vigil; son, Frank Baca; daughter, Jane; brothers, George, Beraldo "Lalo" and Sebedeo Vigil; sister, Rose Hoover and grandson, Dennis Maestas.
She is survived by her husband, Jose E. Baca of Española; sons, Rudy Maestas and wife Pauline of El Duende and Louie Maestas and wife Pearl of Ranchitos; daughters, Marie Valencia and husband Frank, Emily Casias and husband Joe and Laura Vasquez and husband Eddie all of Española; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. today at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery.
