MARY L. ESQUIBEL, 91, of Taos died Wednesday.
She retired as a school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eloy Esquibel in 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Sarajean Norris and husband John of Taos; foster daughter, Frances Faircloth and husband Ray of Alto; sister, Ida Vigil and husband Nick of California; three grandchildren; close friend, Joe Maestas; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Home Health, P. O. Box 2566, Taos, NM 87571 or First Presbyterian Church.

JOE G. "DUKE" LOPEZ JR., 65, of Chamita died Saturday after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose G. and Olivama Lopez; sons, Moritz and Greg Lopez III; and brother, Tomas Lopez.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Lopez of Chamita; son, Joseph Lopez of Chamita; daughter, Cindy Martinez and husband Gene of Alcalde; seven grandchildren; sisters, Helen Talache and husband Joe of San Juan Pueblo, Maxine Smith of California, Lena Lucero and husband Dan of Utah and Kathy Romero of Española; brothers, Vivian Lopez and wife Lydia of Alcalde, Benny Lopez and Vicente Lopez, both of Chamita; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sylvia Garcia and husband Eloy of Chamita, Leo Maestas and wife Lucille of Hernandez, Lucy Jaramillo and husband Salomon of Las Vegas, Nev. and Leonard Maestas and wife Milka of Santa Fe and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Chamita.

BERTHA M. MARTINEZ, 77, of Santa Fe died Friday after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Celestino J. Martinez. She is survived by her children, Angie Rael and husband Donald, Dora Montano and husband Lawrence, Edward Martinez and wife Carol, Florida Esparza and husband Jesus, Gladys Martinez and companion Nancy, Helen Romero and husband Ray, Isaac (Kikie) Martinez, Charmaine Martinez and husband Scott; 19 grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters; and many other relatives.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Burial will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

MARY E. MONTANO, 76, of Santa Fe died Friday.
She was born to Jose E. and Clorinda Romero. She married Carlos J. Montano in 1950. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos; daughter, Charlene; parents, Jose and Clorinda Romero; sisters, Archie Abeyta and Consuelo Ortega; and brother, John Romero.
She is survived by her son, Charles Montano and wife Elaine of Santa Fe; daughter, Brenda Espinoza and husband Camilo of Los Alamos; four grandchildren; sisters, Tomasita Hansen and husband Eddie of San Ramon, Calif., Lillie Jaramillo and husband Lee, Dolores Lopez and husband Robert, Paz Anaya and husband Alfonso and Navi Baca and husband Victor, all of Santa Fe; brothers, Wilfred Romero and wife Brenda of Chimayó, Arturo Romero, Anselmo Romero, Leonardo Romero and wife Bertha, all of Ranchos de Taos; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Berardinelli Family Chapel with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

JOHNNIE ERIC OLIVAS, 37, of Chimayó died unexpectedly Friday.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chris Olivas; and half-brother, Dominic Olivas.
He is survived by his mother, Viola Olivas of Chimayó; father, Johnny Olivas of Ranchitos; sisters, Doreen Campbell and husband Tim of Indiana and Vangie Trujillo and husband William of Abiquiu; girlfriend, Breanna Lujan of Chimayó; daughters, Dominica, Desiree and Crystal Olivas, all of Española; and many other relatives and friends.

EMELINA GALLEGOS ORTIZ, 84, of Santa Fe died Friday.
She was born and raised in Jaconita. She was a resident of Santa Fe since 1948.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Concepcion and Estanislado Gallegos; sister, Ramona Ortiz; and brothers, Meliton Gallegos, Augustiniano Gallegos, and Trinidad Gallegos and wife Melinda.
She is survived by her husband, Edumenio Ortiz; sons, Danny Ortiz and wife Vera of Jaconita and Leroy Ortiz and wife Angie of Albuquerque; daughter, Barbara Ortiz of Santa Fe; brother, Joe Gallegos and wife Flora of Vallecito; sisters, Eutimia Romero and husband Cipriano of Jaconita and Oralia Quintana and husband Pablo of El Rancho; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. today at St. Francis Cathedral with burial to follow at 1 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

W.S. "ROBBIE" ROBINSON, 80, of Questa died Friday.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1st Separation Company MCB in the Pacific during World War II. He worked in Los Alamos as a security guard when it was a closed city and it was during that time that he met and married Irma Cisneros. He worked at the Moly Corp Mine in Questa for 23 years and lived in Questa for over 40 years. He and his wife resided in the Santa Fe and Española area for the last 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing the Rio Grande Box Canyon. He enjoyed "arrow head hunting" in the surrounding area of Questa.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Robinson.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Robinson of Questa; sons, Ronald J. Robinson and wife Ann of Española and Gordon C. Robinson and wife Roberta of Questa; stepson, Lester Cisneros and wife Mary; stepdaughter, Conchita Cisneros, both of Santa Fe; brother, George Robinson and wife Dorothy; and seven grandchildren.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Questa.

LOUIS A. GARCIA, 83, of Santa Fe died Sunday after a brief illness.
He was born in Los Luceros, the son of the late Luis M. Garcia and Rafelita Lucero Garcia. He married Leontina "Teena" Quintana Garcia in Santa Fe in 1963. He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School and the University of New Mexico. He was a registered public accountant and formerly the director of audits of the state Department of Taxation and Revenue. He was proprietor of Garcia's Tax Service. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus, honorary member of the Eagles and adjutant in the American Legion Society of Public Accountants. He is survived by his wife, of Santa Fe; brother, Edward Garcia and wife Lyla of Albuquerque; and many other relatives. Memorial contributions may be donated to St. Francis Cathedral. A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Cathedral with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 983-4331.
