CARMELITA DURAN, 72, of El Rancho died Thursday after a lengthy illness.
She was born and raised in Rinconada. She was a nurse at the Embudo Clinic. She was a good cook and gardener. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in El Rancho. After the loss of her husband at the age of 30, she raised her family on her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fidencio Duran; parents, Jose Maria and Rita Vigil; brothers, Elegio and Lupe Vigil; and sister, Beatrice Martinez.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Duran and wife Melissa of Española, Bobby Duran and wife Yvette of Santa Fe, Delma Duran and Tomas Duran and wife Darlene, all of Albuquerque; brother, Jose Natividad Vigil and wife Maria of Albuquerque; sister, Estefana Gonzales of Rinconada; 13 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a wake at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. A second wake will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday in the same chapel. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the same chapel with burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

KRISTINE R. FOGLE, 57, of Los Alamos died Wednesday after a long battle with diabetes. Her passion was for children's ministries at various churches. She last served as a Busy Bee Day Care director at the First Baptist Church in Los Alamos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Lela Kirschenbaum and brother, Lee Kirschenbaum, all of Neptune, N.J.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Fogle of Los Alamos and son, Matthew Fogle of Denver.
A public visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at DeVargas Funeral Home, 623 N. Railroad Ave. in Española. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.

MARY ISABEL GRIFFIN, 95, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday.
She was born in Denver. Her family moved to Las Vegas, N.M., where she graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1928. She lived in Las Vegas, N.M., until 1940. During this time, she worked at various jobs and earned her bachelor of arts degree in teaching and English at New Mexico Normal University, now Highlands University. She worked for the Charles Ilfeld Company for 10 years and then went to Santa Fe and worked in the land office. She had a civil service job during World War II in Gallup, where she met her husband, a surveillance officer. They lived in Washington, D.C., and then in Japan during the occupation. They were stationed in Ogden, Utah, and Pueblo, Colo., where they lived for 29 years and then retired to Las Vegas, N.M. They always worked as volunteers in community service. She set up scholarship funds at several different colleges and universities. She was a member and assistant pianist at the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.H. Harris and Bess Harris; husband, George T. Griffin; brothers, John Harris, Wayne Harris and Ted Harris; and sister, Madeline Phillips.
She is survived by her sister, Naomi Skaggs of Sacramento, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church, 201 Mountain View Drive, Las Vegas, N.M., with burial to follow at the Masonic Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorials be given to Hospice or the First Baptist Church, 201 Mountain View Drive, Las Vegas, N.M., 87701.

RUDY RIVERA, 52, of Nambé died suddenly Wednesday.
He did a lot of landscaping and remodeling. In his younger days, he was associated with the Job Corps. He helped build the Nambé Dam. He liked to go fishing and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed being the comedian and always had close friends around him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Rivera, and brother, Toby Rivera.
He is survived by his mother, Celina Rivera of Nambé; daughter, Jessica; brothers, Gilbert Rivera and wife Lisa, Joe Rivera, Richard Rivera and wife Martha, all of Nambé and Benny Rivera and wife Gloria of La Villita; sister, Judy Hamilton and husband Greg of Nambé; mother of his daughter, Ernestina Lopez; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambé. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the same church with burial to follow at Nambé Catholic Cemetery.

RUDY H. MONTOYA, 65, of Arroyo Hondo died Thursday.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe P. Montoya.
He is survived by his wife, Rubana Montoya; children, Debbie Maestas and husband Alex of Taos, Herson R. Montoya and Anthony Montoya and wife Marlene of Santa Fe, Joseph Montoya and wife Catalina of Las Colonias, Martin Montoya and wife Maria of Des Montes; and mother, Martha Montoya of Santa Fe; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Rivera Chapel. A second rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the same church. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home, (505) 758-3841.

TEOFILA D. GOMEZ, 89, of Santa Fe died Monday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sixto and Constancia Duran; and brothers, Carlos, Rubel, Melaquias, Fidencio and Orlando Duran.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucille Alvarado; sons, Herman, Louie and Phil Gomez; brother, Joe G. Duran; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Anne Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

ADONAISO MARTINEZ, 77, of Cordova died Saturday after a long illness.
He loved to take care of his sheep, work in his garden, and play the harmonica for his family. He worked with Los Alamos County for more than 22 years. He was married in 1946 and lived in Cordova throughout his married life. He was the caretaker of the Cordova Cemetery where he would mark all of the new graves. He was the mayordomo for the acequias for many years and a member of the board of the Community Water Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Demetrio and Eufracia Martinez; sons, Lito I., Lenny and Andrew Martinez; and sister, Celina Lucero.
He is survived by his wife, Clorinda T. Martinez of Cordova; daughters, Elsie Martinez and husband Jerry of El Rito, Annabelle Dominguez and husband Filiberto of Truchas, Patrisia Brunello of Santa Fe and Margie Martinez and husband Danny of Truchas; sons, Amos Martinez of Truchas, Adonaiso Martinez Jr. and wife Angie of Truchas and Roy Martinez of Cordova; grandson raised by him, Mario Martinez of Rio Rancho; niece raised by him, Sylvia Cordova; 18 grandchildren; brothers, Gerson, Soliz, Rudy and Marcos Martinez; sisters, Fedelina Montalvo, Vivian Vigil and Diolinda Martinez; and many other relatives and friends.
A service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cordova with burial to follow at Cordova Catholic Cemetery.
