RON DAVID ALMANZAR, 42, of Santa Fe died Thursday.
He was born in Santa Fe. He worked for Dahl Plumbing. He was an excellent husband and daddy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Almanzar.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; daughter, Melissa; father, Manny Almanzar; sister, Cathy Almanzar-Rico; brother, Charles Almanzar and fiancé Tina Anaya; friends, Ed Gonzales, Ray Romero and Edward Mier; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the same church.

MICHAEL O. MERHEGE, 66, of Los Alamos died Sunday.
He was the youngest of the Merheges in Española and Fairview. He managed and owned Chevron Gas Station in Fairview. He was raised in Fairview and was a farm boy. He also served in the National Guard. He attended school in Española and at the College of Santa Fe. He coached at Holy Cross for the 7th and 8th grade boy's basketball team and Little League. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. He owned Western Trees in Los Alamos. He loved his work, especially in Los Alamos and Española. He supported 4-H. He loved the outdoors and simplicity of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fidel and Latifie Merhege; brothers, John, James and Fidel Merhege; and sister, Affifi Zannon
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Merhege of Los Alamos; sons, Matthew Merhege and wife Amie of Orlando, Fla., Brad Merhege and wife Julie of Las Cruces; daughters, Melissa Midkiff and husband Jim and Melinda Rowten and husband Brian, all of Albuquerque; step-children Terry Mathis and wife Rose of Australia, Mary Pat Sanchez and husband Ruben of Arizona, Victor Nitz and wife Karen of Moriarty and Vincent Nitz and wife Wendy of Los Alamos; sisters, Mary Million and husband Jim, Helen Finch and husband Gene, Jessie Fidel, Jennie Michael and husband Arthur and Aurelia Jabour; brother, Joseph Merhege; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same church with burial to follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery.

CHRISTINA "CHRISTY" RIVERA, 47, of Santa Fe died Friday.
She lived in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie E. Rivera; sister, Evelyn Rivera; and brother Roque Rivera.
She is survived by her mother, Helen Rivera and Ramon Montoya; daughter, Desiree Redondo; son Michael Rivera and Zenida Noriega; three grandchildren; sisters, Percy Vigil, Mary Pacheco, Bernadette Quintana, Nancy Romero and Lucia Ruelas; brothers, Eddie Rivera, Pat Rivera, and Leo Rivera; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Anne Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

EDDIE RIVERA, 65, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday.
He was born in Alamosa, Colo. to the late Salamon Rivera and Santana Garcia Rivera.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie M. Rivera, Jr.; daughter, Kathlynn Rivera; brothers, Toby, George, Arthur and Steve Rivera and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Helen P. Rivera of the family home in Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters, Liz Aguilar of Albuquerque, LouAnn Romero and husband Art and Katrina Rivera, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; sons, Richard Rivera of Albuquerque and Julian Rivera of Las Vegas, N.M.; brothers, Manuel Rivera and wife Irene and Henry Rivera and wife Celia, all of Denver; sisters, Marie Castello and husband John, Dolores and husband Tony and Patricia, all of Denver; 10 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, N.M. with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

JOHNNY STEVEN SALAZAR, 44, of Española died Saturday.
He was formerly of Chimayó and lived in Albuquerque for the past six years. He was known as "Johnny Bread."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Sinforosa Salazar.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Donnie Salazar and wife Jessica of Santa Cruz, Louise and husband Michael, Joyleen Salazar of Albuquerque, Anthony, Angelisa, Marie, Tommy Ray, and Maryssa; brother, Dennis; sisters, Anita Rendon, Lucinda Salazar, Virginia Barvosa, and Clara Martinez and husband Bobby; nieces raised as sisters, Annabelle Cruz and husband Miguel, Julie Salazar, and Sandy Ybarra, and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited tonight at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayó. Please contact the mortuary office for details.

JAMES ALLEN VARELA, 33, of Pecos died Friday after a long illness.
He was born in Santa Fe, the son of Wilfredo R. and Cecilia M. Varela. He married Rima Rubio in Pecos in 1995. He attended schools in Pecos. After graduation from Pecos High School, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving four years. Following his discharge he was employed in Santa Fe and served as a weekend warrior with the N.M. National Guard. He went on active duty in 1994, and was currently serving as a staff sergeant. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Parish and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Rima R. Varela; children, Zachary, Elijah and Jeremiah; parents, Wilfredo and Cecilia Varela; sister, Brenda Archuleta and husband Jamie; brother, Will Varela; brothers, Michael and wife Victoria Armijo, Frank Rubio and friend Corinthia Tapia; and many other relatives. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Pecos. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Casa Esparanza, 2004 Yale NE, Albuquerque, NM or the UNM Cancer Research Center.

GRACE R. VIGIL, 80, of Nambé died Sunday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Leandro Vigil.
She is survived by her children, Joe L. Vigil Jr. and wife Veronica, Donald Vigil, Wayne Vigil and wife Gerri, John Vigil and wife Hazel, Arthur Vigil, Terri Sanders and husband Lloyd, all of Nambé Pueblo; brothers, Edmund Romero and wife Irene, Caesar Romero, Harold Romero and wife Estell; sisters, Barbara Yardman and husband Frank, Josie Romero, Rosina Montoya, Toni Ludi and MaryLou Ortiz and husband Gary; 21 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A visitation will take place at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church at the Nambé Pueblo. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
