MARY MARGARET ALLEN of Santa Fe died Sept. 10.
She resided at El Castillo Retirement Residences of Santa Fe.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at El Castillo Community Room.
Memorials may be made in her name to the donor's favorite charity. 988-3106.

DOROTHY MERLE HICKS, 76, of Tesuque died Thursday.
She was born in Amarillo. She met Thomas "Tommy" C. Hicks when she was 14. They were married in 1946. In 1971, they moved from Amarillo to Tesuque, where, working side by side, she helped her husband start Shidoni, and created what is now a renowned fine arts foundry and gallery. She was one of the first Tesuque Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary ladies in the early 1970s and was later active in the Northern New Mexico Quilters Guild, contributing many volunteer hours to both.
She is survived by her husband; twin daughters, Barbara Mason of Albuquerque and Debora Barrett of Santa Fe and New York City; sons, Kern Hicks of New Windsor, N.Y., and Scott Hicks of Tesuque; eight grandchildren; and brother, Charles Thompson of Independence, Mo.
Her family requests that memorials be sent to the Tesuque Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1, Tesuque, NM, 87574.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Shidoni Foundry & Gallery, 1508 Bishop's Lodge Road, Tesuque, NM, 87574. (505) 797-8422.

DENNIS DUFFY, 57, of Santa Fe died unexpectedly Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born and raised in New Jersey. A standout in high school football, he had several college offers but he decided to join the U.S. Navy instead. He served four years, two of them in Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. After the Navy, he decided to attend college and chose Eastern New Mexico University. He fell in love with New Mexico. He met his wife Katie in Santa Fe, and they raised three children. Most of the people in Santa Fe knew him as the friendly owner of Duffy's Vacuum Center. He was an active member of the Santa Fe business community for more than 30 years. His favorite pastimes were pitching horseshoes, fishing with his son, watching his daughters play softball and watching his favorite football teams. The times he enjoyed the most were those spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Duffy; father, James A. Duffy; and sister, Patricia Duffy.
He is survived by his daughters, Meaghan and Amy Duffy; son, Kyle Duffy; former spouse, Katie Duffy; brothers, John Duffy and wife Sharon, James Duffy and wife Nancy, Tom Duffy and wife Nancy; sisters, Kathy Weiss and husband Dennis, Anne Duffy Diglio and husband Michael; and many other relatives and friends.
A viewing and prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Berardinelli Family Chapel followed by a memorial at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Cathedral.

THERESA O. MARTINEZ, 71, of Santa Fe died Wednesday in California after a long battle with cancer.
She was born and raised in Santa Fe, where she graduated from Santa Fe High School. She worked at the state Welfare Department. In 1954, she married her Marine husband, Cirilo, who had just returned from Korean duty. They celebrated their honeymoon in Los Angeles and reported to duty at Camp Pendelton. They lived together in California for 51 years. She worked as an accountant for their private auto mechanic and property management business and as a secretary for Mattels and Peeks Mortuary. She was very proud of her life as a homemaker and successfully raised five children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Ortiz; and son, Bill Martinez.
She is survived by her husband, Cirilo Martinez; children, Evelyn and Stefan Chmara, Tony and Robin Martinez, Nina and Mauro Garcia, and Linda and Eddy DeJong; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Bea and Eddy Duran, Lulu and Atanacio Romero, George and Anita Ortiz, Tito and Joann Ortiz, Josie and Joe Fernandez, Mary Rael, and Nina Maestas; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ERNEST GARCIA, 90, of San Pedro died Sunday after a long illness.
He loved gardening and working in the yard. He was a very kind and compassionate man. He enjoyed caring for his cars, especially his Cadillacs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Fidelia Garcia; brothers, Herculano, Nicholas, Adelaido, Filadelfio, Antonio and Bernardino Garcia; and sisters, Tomasita Maestas and Amalia Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Corine Garcia; sister, Lily and husband Gilbert Martinez of San Pedro; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held at 2:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Caņada with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

JOE O. GARCIA, 87, of Velarde died unexpectedly Friday.
He was a beloved husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose O. and Emiliana Garcia; son, John Garcia; brother, Daniel Garcia; and sisters, Lucia Garcia, Suzanna Quintana and Sara Ortiz.
He is survived by his wife, Rosina L. Garcia; sons, Joseph Garcia and wife Shirley, Orlando Garcia, Anthony Garcia and wife Debbie and Donald Garcia; daughters, Frances Martinez and Antoinette Creel and husband Gary; sister, Eloisa Trujillo of Santa Fe; brother, Placido Garcia and wife Adelina of Socorro; and many other relatives and friends.
Services have taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall in Velarde.
