HENRY N. ESQUIBEL , 59, of Cuarteles died on Saturday after a short illness. He was a mayordomo for the ditches in Cuarteles. He loved to farm and he loved caring for his grandchildren. He was a longtime member of the Holy Family in Cuarteles and an esclavo of the Capilla de Sangre Cristo of Cuarteles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Eloisa Esquibel; brothers, Candelario, Ramon and Sam Esquibel; and sisters, Gloria Herrera and Donelia Montoya. He is survived by his wife, Carol Esquibel of Cuarteles; children, Edward Esquibel and wife Angelica of Alcalde, Henry Esquibel Jr. and Anna Esquibel of Cuarteles; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Max Esquibel and wife Louise of Cuarteles, Marie Carman and husband Tom of Albuquerque, Dora Martinez and husband Joe, Josie Cervantes and husband Augustin of Los Angeles, and Tina Trujillo of Albuquerque and Patricia Wheeler and husband Johnny; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. today at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz del la Cañada with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

GREGORITA MARTINEZ , 78, of Villanueva died Friday at the Camino Vista Manor Health Care Facility in Albuquerque. She was born June 21, 1925, in Anton Chico to the late Gabriel and Dionicia Lucero Martinez. She was a long-time resident of Villanueva and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She enjoyed cooking and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Manuel Martinez of Anton Chico and Filmon Martinez of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a grandson, Charles Amos of Gallup. She is survived by daughters, Rose Mary Urioste of Anton Chico, Julia Cuevas and her husband Mario, and Mary Ann Armijo and her husband Gabriel, all of Gallup, Patsy Fakasitz and Rebecca Gallegos, all of Albuquerque, and Elizabeth Gonzales of Farwell, Texas; sisters, Isabel Sisneros of Portales and Louisa Vigil of Anton Chico; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. JOSE RICARDO MARTINEZ, 91, of Vadito died Monday. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbarita Lopez Martinez; and parents, Telefor and Juanita Martinez. FRANK "G" ORTIZ, 85, of Santa Fe died on Sunday. He was a long-time resident of Santa Fe. He made a career in construction and owned and operated F.G. Construction and Remodeling Co. prior to his retirement. He enjoyed building and took painstaking effort to endure a quality product. He enjoyed playing pool, golf and working on his yard. He took great delight in his family and loved family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cesario and Deloisa Ortiz; wife, Mary G. Ortiz; daughter, Barbara Josie Ortiz; brothers, Presciliano, Willie, Medardo, Julian and Rosinaldo; sisters, Eurcinia C de Baca and Mary Aranda. WALLACE MAC HILLYER, 99, died Sunday in Taos. He graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech with a master's degree. He was a teacher in many cities, including Grants, Logan, Tres Piedras, Taos and in Peru. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Normandy and The Netherlands. He loved old movies and songs and singing in the church choir. He was a member of El Pueblito United Methodist Church in Taos, Bent Lodge of the Masonic Order and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred A. and Euna Mae (McMennamy) Hillyer; and sisters, Melba Ward and Erica Robertson.
