HENRY N. ESQUIBEL , 59, of Cuarteles died on Saturday after a short illness. He was a mayordomo for the ditches in Cuarteles. He loved to farm and he loved caring for his grandchildren. He was a longtime member of the Holy Family in Cuarteles and an esclavo of the Capilla de Sangre Cristo of Cuarteles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Eloisa Esquibel; brothers, Candelario, Ramon and Sam Esquibel; and sisters, Gloria Herrera and Donelia Montoya. He is survived by his wife, Carol Esquibel of Cuarteles; children, Edward Esquibel and wife Angelica of Alcalde, Henry Esquibel Jr. and Anna Esquibel of Cuarteles; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Max Esquibel and wife Louise of Cuarteles, Marie Carman and husband Tom of Albuquerque, Dora Martinez and husband Joe, Josie Cervantes and husband Augustin of Los Angeles, and Tina Trujillo of Albuquerque and Patricia Wheeler and husband Johnny; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. today at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz del la Cañada with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

GREGORITA MARTINEZ , 78, of Villanueva died Friday at the Camino Vista Manor Health Care Facility in Albuquerque. She was born June 21, 1925, in Anton Chico to the late Gabriel and Dionicia Lucero Martinez. She was a long-time resident of Villanueva and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She enjoyed cooking and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Manuel Martinez of Anton Chico and Filmon Martinez of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a grandson, Charles Amos of Gallup. She is survived by daughters, Rose Mary Urioste of Anton Chico, Julia Cuevas and her husband Mario, and Mary Ann Armijo and her husband Gabriel, all of Gallup, Patsy Fakasitz and Rebecca Gallegos, all of Albuquerque, and Elizabeth Gonzales of Farwell, Texas; sisters, Isabel Sisneros of Portales and Louisa Vigil of Anton Chico; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Church in Anton Chico with burial to follow at the Sangre de Cristo Cemetery in Upper Anton Chico.

JOSE RICARDO MARTINEZ, 91, of Vadito died Monday. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbarita Lopez Martinez; and parents, Telefor and Juanita Martinez. He is survived by his companion, Nellie Montoya; daughters, Mabel Romero and husband Luciano and Helen Lujan and husband Benito; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Services have been held. Burial was held at Placitas Cemetery.

FRANK "G" ORTIZ, 85, of Santa Fe died on Sunday. He was a long-time resident of Santa Fe. He made a career in construction and owned and operated F.G. Construction and Remodeling Co. prior to his retirement. He enjoyed building and took painstaking effort to endure a quality product. He enjoyed playing pool, golf and working on his yard. He took great delight in his family and loved family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cesario and Deloisa Ortiz; wife, Mary G. Ortiz; daughter, Barbara Josie Ortiz; brothers, Presciliano, Willie, Medardo, Julian and Rosinaldo; sisters, Eurcinia C de Baca and Mary Aranda. He is survived by his children, Angie Delagdo and husband Larry; Gerard T. Ortiz and wife Anna; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Donelia Roybal, Reyes Sena, Rosina Clayton and husband Gene; brother, Reynaldo Ortiz and wife; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Cathedral with burial to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

GERTRUDE V. RAEL, 64, of Hernandez died Sunday after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shaylene Gould; father, Anselmo Lucero; stepfather, Luis Gallegos; and mother, Elena Gallegos. She is survived by her husband, Isaac Rael; children, Gabriel Rael and wife Theresa of Thoreau, Alvin Rael and wife Lauren of Clovis, Matthew Rael and wife Sandra of Roswell, Rachel Gould and husband Eddie of Thoreau and Rosie Martinez and husband Donald of La Puebla; brothers and sisters, Johnny Gallegos and wife Rose of Commerce City, Colo., Mary Ann Gurule, Susie Batista and husband Tano, Vickie Espinoza and husband Percy, Sara Herrera and husband Floyd of Chamita, Lucy Cleaves of Albuquerque, Dolores Garcia, Terry Ramirez and companion Walter Lopez of La Mesilla, Agnes Lopez and husband Orlando; 17 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Victory Faith Church with burial to follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to La Iglesia de Salvador United Methodist Church.

MAMIE F. ESTREMERA, 94, died Monday in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Jaime Estremera Sr.; son, Jaime Jr. and wife Robin; four daughters, Hilda and husband Bob, Betty and husband William, Belen and Sylvia; and all her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rio Grande Seventh Day Adventist Church. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Rio Grande Seventh Day Adventist Church on 5200 Iliff Road, NW, in Albuquerque with burial to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho.

TOMAS D.MARTINEZ, 67, of Santa Cruz died Sunday after a short illness. He was a lifetime resident of Santa Cruz. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and actively involved in politics. He was a member of La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene E. Martinez; parents, Praxedes and Ninfa Martinez; brothers, Reginaldo, Tony and Max; and sisters, Isabel Matthews and Lucy Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Rosina; son, Tomas Martinez Jr. and fiancée Dana Trujillo; daughters, Patricia Jean Martinez, Anna Marie Valdez and fiancée Joe Armijo and Bridgit Antonette Martinez; five grandchildren; sister, Vickie Guinn of Albuquerque; brother, Gilbert Martinez and wife Lilly of San Pedro; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. to be followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. today at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. WALLACE MAC HILLYER, 99, died Sunday in Taos. He graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech with a master's degree. He was a teacher in many cities, including Grants, Logan, Tres Piedras, Taos and in Peru. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Normandy and The Netherlands. He loved old movies and songs and singing in the church choir. He was a member of El Pueblito United Methodist Church in Taos, Bent Lodge of the Masonic Order and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred A. and Euna Mae (McMennamy) Hillyer; and sisters, Melba Ward and Erica Robertson. He is survived by his nephews, Jimmy Robertson, Thomas Robertson and Mike Ward; nieces, Mary Rita Turrietta, Deana Wood and Glenda Jean Meadows; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delfinia Maes and Julian Lucero; husband, Onofre Gomez; children, Robert and Carlos Gomez, Maryann Hernandez, and Abel Barbero; and brother, Pat Lucero. She is survived by her children, Alfonso Barbero and wife Rose, Dora Armijo and husband Leo, Tim Gomez and wife Elsa of Albuquerque; stepdaughter Joann Sanchez and husband Raul of California; 27 grandchildren; brothers, Tito Lucero and wife Rose, Eugenio Lucero and Abran Lucero, all of Colorado; and many other relatives.
