RUBEN SANDOVAL, 84, of Ruidoso Downs died Tuesday.
He was a former resident of Chimayó. He was born in Potrero and moved to the Ruidoso Downs 20 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Lincoln County Medical Center Auxiliary, Neighborhood Watch in Ruidoso Downs, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, charter member of the Chimayó Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of the Holy Name Society in Chimayó. He worked as a lab technician at the Los Alamos Labs for 33 years. He married Adelina Martinez in 1949 in Santa Cruz.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Sandoval; and parents, Juan and Maria Chonita Sandoval.
He is survived by his wife, Adelina Sandoval of Ruidoso Downs; daughters, Christine Farrington of Ruidoso and Evelyn Jacquez of Española; brother, Solomon Trujillo of Chimayó; sisters, Dora Vigil and Flora Leyba, both of Santa Fe; four grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayó with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ADOLPH GALLEGOS JR., 80, of Amalia died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Gallegos Sr. and Beatrice Gallegos; brothers and sisters, Celestino, Shon, Robert and Aurelia.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Gallegos; children, Patricia and Robert Velasquez, Barbara and John Schuessler, Isabel and Leo Mares, Sandra and Al Johnson, Veronica and Orlando Archuleta, Bryan and Veronica Gallegos; brothers, Rudy Gallegos and wife Cora; sisters, Rose Rivera and Ruby Pacheco; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the same church with burial to follow at Santo Nino Cemetary in Amalia.

TERESINA "TINA" ESPINOZA died Sunday.
She was born in Holman to the late Santiago Mondragon and Deluvina Salazar. She loved to cook. She retired in 2004 from the Mora Senior Citizens, where she was employed for 27 years as head cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Deluvina Mondragon; husband of 38 years, Roberto Espinoza; brother, Melaquias Mondragon; and sister, Frances Sandoval.
She is survived by her husband, George Martinez, of the family home in Cleveland; son, Andrew R. Espinoza of Mora; stepchildren, Sam G. Martinez Jr. and wife, Beatrice, Renee Martinez, Angel Martinez and husband, Marvin, Kenny Martinez, and Mary Martinez and boyfriend Darrell Vigil, all of Mora; sisters, Cecilia Cruz of Las Vegas, N.M., and Erma Bernal of Pueblo, Colo.; brothers, Ernesto Mondragon and wife, Mary, and Cipriano Mondragon, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; special granddaughters, Olivia and Mia Martinez of Mora; seven grandchildren; special friends, Jane, Josie and Andrew Trujillo, all of Pecos; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. today at the Rogers Chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Mora. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same church with burial to follow at the Cruz Family Cemetery.

BROOKS WILSON, 80, of Ute Park died Saturday.
He was a former resident of Amarillo. He was born in Vernon to Homer E. and Monette Brooks Wilson. He graduated from Amarillo High School and the University of Colorado at Boulder. He practiced as a certified public accountant in Texas and New Mexico. He was sole proprietor of his own practice. He married Bette Lamb in 1949, and she preceded him in death. He married Ann Butler Sewell in 1975. He was a member of the Texas Society of CPAs and was appointed by Gov. Dolph Briscoe to the state Board of Public Accountancy in 1977, where he served for six years as chairman of the ethics committee and later as vice chairman of the board. He was a member of the United Church of Angel Fire, serving as financial secretary, and was executive director of the Northern New Mexico Senior Men's Golf Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Bradley W. Wilson and wife, Debbie, Robert B. Wilson and wife, Nella, Brian E. Wilson and wife, Michelle, Blake A. Wilson and wife, Beth, Barry N. Wilson, and John W. Sewell and wife, Jerri, all of Amarillo, and Paul D. Sewell and wife, Stephanie, of Carrollton; daughter, Elizabeth Gerken of Amarillo; and 14 grandchildren.

BRUCE CLEMENTS DETTER, JR., 77, died Monday in Albuquerque.
He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1944. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Hutchinson Junior College and graduated from Kansas State University in 1950 with a degree in cereal chemistry from the school of milling. He was associated with Wallace and Tiernan Milling Co. in Kansas City for a number of years and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944-1946. He returned to KSU, graduating in the field of veterinary medicine in 1960.
He practiced in Nickerson, Kan., among the farm community which he loved. In 1970, he and his family moved to Taos where he owned a small animal clinic, managed the Taos Animal Shelter and was in private practice.
He was married in 1978. He retired in 1984 when he and his wife moved to Santa Fe. They became active members of St. John's United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving as docents at El Rancho de Las Golondrinas.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Polson Detter of the home; children, Bruce C. Detter III and wife Diane of Santa Maria, Calif., Betsy Miller and husband Mike of Lincoln, Neb., Jere Detter and wife Kathy of Omaha, and Denise Whittington and husband Steve of Plano, Texas; stepchildren, David Polson and Susan Norton of Santa Fe; Joyce Pratt Mitchell, the mother of his children; seven grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's United Methodist Church, 1200 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, N.M., 87505 or El Rancho de Las Goldondrinas, 334 Los Pinos, Santa Fe, N.M., 87507 or the charity of your choice.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Methodist Church with burial to be held in Baldwich, Kan.

DELFINIA VALERIO HERRERA, 82, of Ranchos de Taos died Tuesday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose de Jesus Valerio and Francisquita Trujillo Valerio; husband, Joaquin Herrera; four brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by her children, Walter F. Herrera and wife Liz of Ranchos de Taos, Guadalupe Rodarte and husband Ernest, Victoria Diana Trujillo and husband George, Patsy Fresquez and husband Willie, Joaquin Herrera and wife Vickie, and Victor Herrera and wife Beckie, all of Taos, Carmela Martinez of Vadito and Francella Vasquez and husband Robert of Placitas; sister, Corine Valerio of Taos; 21 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.

ZAC MARTINEZ, 74, of Ojo Caliente died Tuesday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zacarias and Eleanor Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Martinez of Ojo Caliente; daughters, Alma Rocha of Ojo Caliente, Armandina Escontrias and husband John of Denver, Diana Jaramillo and husband Richard of El Rito and Sandra Lopez and husband Gilbert; son, Troy Martinez of Ojo Caliente; 17 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the same church with burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
