OTTO JAMES MURRELL, 84, died Tuesday in Cerro. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He retired as a construction foreman and at the time of his death owned O.J. Murrell Guns in Cerro. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Murrell; and sisters, Pamela Bagwell and Ella M. Combs. He is survived by his wife, Irene Murrell; children, Donald Alan Murrell of Colchester, Vt., and Michael Steven Murrell of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Esta M. Adams of Hazard, Ky., nine grandchildren; and many other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Questa with burial to follow at Cerro Cemetery. OPAL MANDALEE OLIVAS, 79, died Tuesday in Albuquerque. She was a foster mother to more than 39 children over the last 30 years and loved to work with teenagers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernesto Olivas; and a brother, Bobby Talachey. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia and husband Samuel Martinez of Abiquiu; her son, Roberto Olivas of Ranchitos; a close nephew, Archie Valdez and wife Annabel of El Llano; very close foster children, Timothy Martinez and Jessie Lovato; brother, Phillip Talachey of Alcalde; and many grandchildren, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church on La Joya Street with burial to follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde. ALFARES QUINTANA, 84, died Tuesday in Llano de San Juan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estevan and Bersabe Quintana; and sons, Pablo and Max Quintana. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; sons, Joseph Quintana and wife Christine of Grants, Steve Quintana and wife Lupita of Chimayó, and William Quintana of Indiana; daughters, Lorraine Pacheco and husband Joe of Nevada, Frances Sandoval and husband Birdie of Arizona, Sharon Pacheco and husband Luis and Ivy Romero and husband Mario, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother, Juan Quintana and Vivianita; sister, Orcelia Vigil and husband Adelmo of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held at 4 p.m. today at the San Antonio Catholic Church in Peñasco followed by a 7 p.m. rosary. ALISON LYNN KRETZ, 63, died Wednesday in Las Vegas, N.M. She graduated from Robertson High School and earned her bachelor's degree in home economics at New Mexico Highlands University. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the organist for 27 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Madeline Phillips; and son, Jeffrey L. Kretz. She is survived by her husband, John L. Kretz; daughters, Jennifer Chapel and husband Mike of Quemado, and Jacqueline Hampleman and husband Josh of Silver City; three grandchildren; sister, Betty Barnes and husband Pete of Claude, Texas; and many other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Masonic Cemetery. DELIA M. OWINGS, 90, died Thursday in Las Vegas, N.M., after a long illness. She raised eight adopted children and two granddaughters. She loved to read her Bible, crochet and cook. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Domecinda Maestas; husband, Joe Basil Owings; sons, Joey R. Owings, Roger Owings, Tommy Owings and Luther Owings; brothers, Leopoldo Maestas, Samuel Maestas and Moises Maestas; and sister, Micky Maestas. She is survived by her daughter, Vikki K. Gold and husband Gilbert Jr.; daughters, Jewel Coble and husband Jim of Alamogordo, Frances Barker and Joe Ann Kelly, both of California; sister, Rufie Fresquez of Las Vegas, N.M.; and many other relatives and friends. ERIC ESPINOZA, 42, of Chimayó died Wednesday.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo D. Espinoza; brother, Albert L. "Bimbo" Espinoza; and grandmother, Beroniz Martinez.
He is survived by his mother, Tina E. Trujillo; sisters, Evelyn Fernandez and husband Octavio, Laura Espinoza and husband Esequiel of Española, Thelma Cartier and husband Edward of Ojo Sarco, and LeVaughn Wasmuth and husband John of El Paso; brothers, Elvis Espinoza and wife Frances of Benton City, Wash., Reyes Trujillo, and Esquipula Javier Trujillo and companion Amy Gurule; and many other relatives.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at the Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Nuestra Senora De Dolores Cemetery.

LEOPOLDO LUJAN, 92, of Pajarito Village died Wednesday in Albuquerque.
He was a lifelong rancher and farmer. In 1941, he entered the U.S. Army and served in an artillery regiment in the Phillippines until the fall of Bataan, becoming a prisoner of the Japanese in what is known as the Bataan Death March.
He is survived by his sisters, Endelecia Lujan and Amanda Lujan of Española and Isabel Roybal of Santa Fe; brothers, Ruben Lujan, Agustin Lujan, and Eloy Lujan, all of Española, and Freddie Lujan of Santa Fe; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Block-Salazar Mortuary in Española. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española with burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe Veteran's National Cemetery.

GEORGE M. MARTINEZ, 86, of Velarde died Wednesday.
He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the Philippines during the attack at Bataan and was awarded three Bronze Stars.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo Martinez; daughters, Angel Garcia and husband Joseph of San Pedro, Loretta Brittain of Las Vegas, Nev., Jeannette Martinez of Española, Rosaline Smith of El Paso, Yvonne Martinez of Colorado, and Sarah Martinez; sons, Carl Martinez and wife Jessica of Chimayó, Elmer Martinez and wife Eleanor of Santa Fe, and Earl Martinez and companion Leann Sandoval; two grandchildren he helped raise, Jeffrey Martinez of Española and Pamela Martinez; 28 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde with burial to follow at 3 p.m. at the Santa Fe Veterans National Cemetery.

GRACE MANZANARES, 75, of Santa Fe died Friday after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Manzanares; parents, Nerio and Elvira Sanchez; and brother, Delfin Sanchez.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Manzanares and wife Geraldine, Eddie Manzanares, Leonard Manzanares, Pat Manzanares and wife Debbie, Mike Manzanares and wife Denise, Albert Manzanares, and Adrian Manzanares; daughters, Gloria Sanchez and husband Danny, Leticia Martinez and husband Mike, Teresa Manzanares, Carla Manzanares and husband Alan, and Julia Manzanares; brothers, Gabe Sanchez and wife Flora, and Lee Sanchez; sisters, Lena Chavez and Pauline Holmes and husband Thomas; 28 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday p.m., and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
