She is survived by her husband, Joe E. Ortiz of Des Montes; daughter, Amy Eilers and fiancé Joe Zucal of Albuquerque; stepdaughter, Jessica Reyes and husband Roger of Lubbock; two grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

RUBEN SANDOVAL, 84, of Ruidoso Downs died Tuesday.
He was a former resident of Chimayó. He was born in Potrero and moved to the Ruidoso Downs 20 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Lincoln County Medical Center Auxiliary, Neighborhood Watch in Ruidoso Downs, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, charter member of the Chimayó Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of the Holy Name Society in Chimayó. He worked as a lab technician at the Los Alamos Labs for 33 years. He married Adelina Martinez in 1949 in Santa Cruz.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Sandoval; and parents, Juan and Maria Chonita Sandoval.
He is survived by his wife, Adelina Sandoval of Ruidoso Downs; daughters, Christine Farrington of Ruidoso and Evelyn Jacquez of Española; brother, Solomon Trujillo of Chimayó; sisters, Dora Vigil and Flora Leyba, both of Santa Fe; four grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayó with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

CHARLES RILEY JENNINGS, 57, of Santa Fe died Saturday after a long illness.
He was born in Reading, England, to Pauline and Charles Salyer Jennings. He was a warrior, artist, gardener, friend and lover of cats. He served the United States in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Overseas Bars, Expert Badge (Rifle) and Sharpshooter Badge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Salyer Jennings. He is survived by his mother, Pauline Jennings; sisters, Susan Jennings Kirbow and husband Steve, and Katie Knecht and husband Peter; former wife, Ann Jennings; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

NIEVES QUINTANA of El Rancho, died Monday in Elk Grove, Calif., from Parkinson's disease.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Quintana; brother, Juan Herrera; and previous husband, Estevan Roches, father of her daughter Albinita.

CELINE L. SANCHEZ, 71, of Santa Fe, died Wednesday after a long illness.
She was born in Estancia, the daughter of the late Cleotilda and Onofre Lucero. She was married in Santa Fe in 1959. She retired from Sears after 36 years of service and nine years at JC Penny. She was a member of the Sacred Heart League.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Lucero.
She is survived by her husband, Filemon Sanchez; children, Diane James and husband Robert, Robert Sanchez and wife Johanna, Jeanette Arellano and husband Mark, Michael Sanchez and wife Stephanie, Barbara Rivera and husband Gerald; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

VIOLET EVA SHOEMAKER, 80, of Chama, died Tuesday after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Stock; son, Howard Stock; and daughter, Elsie Vaughn.
