REFUGIO MAES TRUJILLO, 97, of Mora died Wednesday after a long illness.
She was born in Mora to the late Luciano Maes and Onofre Romero. She was married to the late Waldo Trujillo in 1931 in Mora. She was a midwife and a foster grandparent. She made candles and loved to make choke-cherry jelly. She enjoyed spending time at the Morada. She was a member of St. Gertrude's Church in Mora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Robert Trujillo, Luciano Trujillo and Jacob Rudy Trujillo; eight brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Waldo Trujillo and wife Flora of Las Cruces, Jimmy Trujillo and wife Elaine of Mesa, Ariz., Richard Trujillo and Leroy Trujillo of Vadito and Pat Trujillo, all of Mora; daughter, Emma Casados and friend Fred Bustos of Mora; sister, Ida Roper of Cleveland, N.M.; 23 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Gertrude's Church in Mora. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the same church with burial to follow at Mora Cemetery.

EUMELIA M. DURAN, 90, of Rociada died Sunday at Alta Vista Regional Hospital.
She was born in Rociada. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed raising horses, feeding cattle and doing daily ranch chores. She cherished her garden and loved to grow wildflowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abel and Eloisa Montoya Martinez; husband, Teofilo Duran; brothers, Alfonso, Alfredo, George and Eugenio Martinez; and sister, Fidencia Duran.
She is survived by her son, Leopoldo Duran of Upper Rociada; sister, Lucy Vialpando of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother, Canuto Martinez and wife, Eva, of Rainsville; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at noon today at the San Jose Church in Upper Rociada with burial to follow at the San Jose Cemetery.

WILFRED "ALKIE" LAILES, 79, of Denver died Oct. 5.
He was a veteran of World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. His unit was one of the first to cross the bridge at Ramagen into Germany. His unit liberated the infamous death camp at Dachau. He was one of only two New Mexicans who served with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), which fought with the Belgium and French underground. He worked for many years in the jewelry business, working for the DeCastros and Gordons on the Santa Fe Plaza.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esiquia Lailes of Santa Fe.
He is survived by his sons, Mark and Martin; three grandsons; wife, Drury Layne; sisters, Eva Elias of Denver and Pearl Britton of El Paso; and brother, Upton Ethelbaugh of Albuquerque.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery where he will be honored as one who served his country.

ANNA K. MAHER, 90, of Santa Fe died in hospice care after a brief illness.
She was born in Wyano, Pa., to Edna and Peter Fritz. She studied violin and earned a degree in music from Carnegie Tech, Pittsburgh. She taught public school music until her marriage to the late John F. Maher who was serving in the army stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. She lived the last 30 years of her life in Los Alamos and Santa Fe, most recently residing at Ponce de Leon Retirement Community.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Straw of White Rock and Rita McAdoo of Lewiston, Idaho; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Casa Esperanza, PO Box 40472, Albuquerque NM, 87196-0472.

JOSEPH DENNIS MARTINEZ (NATO), 47, of La Villita died Monday after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louisa Salazar-Martinez and brother, Donald Martinez. He is survived by his brothers, Olivar of La Villita and Manuel Martinez, Jr. and wife, Pauline, of Española; sisters, Melina Trujillo and husband, Fidel, of Chamita, Frances M. Salazar of Fairview, Joyce Martinez and Marty Moya, and Barbara Valdez and husband, Ed, all of Santa Fe; special cousin, Sister Therese Rodriguez; special friends, Fred Vigil, Alberto Baros and Lorenzo Valdez; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow at San Jose Cemetery in Hernandez.

NORRIS NICKOLS, 76, of Los Alamos died Thursday.
He retired as a nuclear physicist from the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Nickols; daughter, Michele Ebler and husband, Alan, of California; son, Todd Nickols of Los Alamos; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service is tentatively planned for Tuesday at The Unitarian Church of Los Alamos. Please call Block-Salazar Mortuary in Española for details.

NARCISO (NARCIE) SALOMON RENDON III, 38, of Chama died Friday.
He was born in Española. He graduated from Española High School where he participated in sports. As a young man, he was an avid cross country skier and won several awards. Most recently he worked at Ed & Mike's Paint & Body Shop. He also lived in Las Vegas, Nev. where he worked as a framer/carpenter.
He is survived by his parents, Narciso and Profiria Rendón; brother, Andy Rendón and wife Gloria of Santa Fe and Steve Rendón and wife Mary of Chama; sister, Ignacita Mattox and husband Charles of Paris, Ky.; sister, Angela and husband Ramón of Chama; and many other relatives and friends.
Services have been held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Patrick's Church Building Fund.
