MANUEL M. LOPEZ, 81, of Los Alamos died Dec. 1.
He was preceded in death by his son, Juan and brother, Moses Lopez.
He was the son of Eugenio and Librada Lopez. He married Alicia Davila in Brownsville, Texas, in 1946. He moved to Los Alamos in 1956 and was later followed by his family. He served his country during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Lopez; sons, Robert and Rich Lopez; daughters, Berta and husband Hugh Mellon, Irma Sutphin, Gloria (Bootie) Dorr, Sylvia Williams and Lel Lopez Lewis; brother, Juan and wife Frances Lopez; sisters, Socorro Lopez and Marie Garcia; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at Berardinelli Family Chapel with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

AMADO LUCERO, 98, of Santa Fe died Dec. 2.
He was born in Garita. He was a resident of Santa Fe since 1981.
He was a school bus driver for 27 years. He worked at Conchas Dam Lake for 15 years. He was also a lifetime rancher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Quintana Lucero; son, Donato Lucero; parents, Eziquiel and Luisita Lucero; two brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his son, Domingo and wife Luisa Lucero of Denver and Ruben O. Lucero of Espaņola; daughter, Cordy and husband Orlando R. Montoya of Santa Fe; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Pablo Lucero of Garita and Josefre Lucero of Denver; Abelina Lucero of Las Vegas, N.M., Lourdes Ulbarri of Hereford, Texas, and Lola Lopez of Santa Fe; and many other relatives.
A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 5 at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Dec. 6 at the same church with burial to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

JOHN JAY CUNICO, 56, formerly of Taos, died Saturday. He was a 1966 graduate of Taos High School. He retired from Qwest in Albuquerque after 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Cunico. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Leah Cunico of Albuquerque; and sister, Janet Cunico of Taos. A memorial gathering will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Blake Room, Don Fernando Hotel and Suites, 1005 Paseo del Pueblo Sur, Taos. Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home, (505) 758-3841.

GLADYS KEY KEITH, 92, of Taos died Sept. 26. She worked for the Las Vegas Public School System as a physical education teacher. After retiring from the school system, she went to work teaching American Indian students. Her time with the American Indian school system was short-lived, as she was involved in a near-fatal auto accident. She continued working with children and babysitting for friends and relatives in her community. She was a gifted woman who dedicated her life to children. Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home, (505) 758-3841..

RUDOLFO "RUDY" P. PADILLA, 75, of Santa Fe died Tuesday. He was born to Reyes and Clara Padilla Sr. in Santa Fe. After graduating from Santa Fe High School, he attended Eastern New Mexico University and Coyne Electrical College in Chicago. He served his country with pride in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maria Boynton; and brother, Abel Padilla. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Padilla; son, Rudy Felipe Padilla; sisters, Pauline Martinez and husband Al, Gloria Salazar, Rosina Silva, and Cecilia Garcia and husband Lorenzo; brothers, Reyes Padilla and wife Zenaida, and Louis Padilla and wife Yolanda. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary, 983-9151.

WILMA I. VAN BUSKIRK, 87, of Santa Fe died Sunday.
She was born in Meeker, Colo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin L. Van Buskirk Sr. of Santa Fe; son, Marvin L. "Lee" Van Buskirk Jr. and wife Ellie of Lucasville, Ohio; daughter, Linda I. King and husband James of Santa Fe; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service Monday at McGee Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ELWOOD JORDAN, 88, of Los Alamos died Wednesday.
He was born in Farmington, Maine. He grew up in Colorado and had a special love for its beautiful mountains. He served during World War II from 1944 to 1945 in General Patton's 3rd Army. He then attended Moody Bible Institute, graduating in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in pastoral studies. He was pastor of Yampa Bible Church from 1949 to 1952 and of Calvary Church of Los Alamos Christian Fellowship for the last 35 years. He was a Stanley Steamer mechanic, military aircraft mechanic and welder before beginning a 20-year career with Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1957. He was a designer with CMR and CMB. He took a leave of absence from the lab to serve as a short-term missionary to Niger, Africa. In 1978, he retired from LANL and began volunteer work at the prison in Santa Fe. He visited inmates at the jail in Los Alamos and the prison in Santa Fe weekly into the 1980s. In 1984, he was asked to be director of the Set Free Prison Ministries of New Mexico, an outreach that provides correspondence courses to inmates in prisons and jails all over New Mexico. He assisted in the ministry until his last weeks of life.
He is survived by his wife, Darleen Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, seven grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.
A public visitation will be held from noon-1 p.m. Monday with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at White Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made in his memory to Moody Bible Institute, SIM Ministries or Set Free Prison Ministries.

ALFONSO ANAYA, 72, of Santa Fe died Saturday after a long illness.
He was born to Valentin and Guadalupe Anaya in Galisteo. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the city of Santa Fe as a traffic engineer until his retirement. He was an usher at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for many years, a member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion. He loved both indoor and outdoor sports including hunting and fishing. During his illness he spent much time enjoying football, tennis, golf, racing and other sports on television.
Above all, he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Montoya Anaya; father, Valentin Anaya; brothers, Roque Anaya and Filemon Anaya; and sister, Adelaida "Lala" Anaya.
He is survived by his wife, Paz R. Anaya; son, Marvin Anaya and wife, Gidget; daughters, Valerie Anaya and Rayanna Garcia Anaya; three grandchildren; close cousin, Jenny Gonzales and husband, Joe and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
