MANUELITA "MELA" BORREGO, 88, of Ranchitos died Thursday after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustine Borrego; daughter, Beatrice Wiuff; sons, Orlando Borrego and Richard Benjamin Borrego; parents, Fernando and Margarita Delgado; brothers, Eduardo Delgado, Luis Delgado, Epimeno Delgado and Fernando Delgado; and sisters, Margarita Montoya, Lugardita Roybal and Lucy Morton. She was a good baker, making biscochitos and pastelitos. She first went to Michigan at the age of 16 to become a nun. She came back and fell in love with her future husband. She was very religious and a strict mother. She enjoyed camping. She was a member of the Sagrada Familia of Ranchitos. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Herrera of Fairview; son, Robert Borrego and wife MaryAnn of Santa Fe; 18 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Española. DeVargas Funeral Home of the Española Valley, 1(877)747-3600.

KATHLEEN MARIE LANGE, 56, died Saturday as the result of a fall at her home in Kaiserslautern, Germany. She was born in Detroit to Edward and Amelia Sawicki. She was a many-talented, sweet person. She first worked as a seamstress for Chrysler. Later, she conducted her own business in custom draperies and raised her son. In February of 1980, while visiting her sister in Germany, she met her future husband from Santa Fe who was stationed there. They married and continued their lives as a military family in Slidell, La. The family then fulfilled a three-year tour in Ansbach and Nuremburg, Germany, before retiring from the U.S. Army to Albuquerque in 1986. In Albuquerque, she worked for 17 years for the U.S. Geological Survey as a hydrological assistant. For the past year she lived with her husband in Germany. She is survived by her husband, Paul Lange Jr.; son, Ron Marcinelli; father, three sisters, one brother, and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. at McGee Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rosario Chapel located on the grounds of Rosario Cemetery on North Guadalupe with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. LISA GALLEGOS, 24, of Chimayó died unexpectedly Tuesday. She was very outgoing and friendly. She had a great sense of humor. She is survived by her son, Jared Gallegos; mother, Rose Mazen and stepfather, Jeff Mazen of Chimayó; father and stepmother, Manuel Gallegos and Marina of El Guache; sister, Rosanne Gallegos and companion Robbie Pacheco of Rio Chama; close nieces and nephews, Vanessa and Miranda Pacheco of Rio Chama, Shantel and Jesus Garcia of El Guache; stepsisters, Yvonne and Maribel Garcia of El Guache; stepbrother, Eric Garcia of El Guache; close cousins, Sylvia and Melissa Mendez of Chimayó; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home with burial to follow at Nuestra Señora de Carmel Cemetery in Chimayó. PERFECTO GURULE, 82, of Mora County died Sunday at Alta Vista Regional Hospital. He was born in La Cueva to Juan de los Reyes Gurule and Isabel Lujan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rogerio Gurule and Trinidad Gurule; sisters, Eutilia Gurule, Eduvigen Vigil and Lupe Weber; stepsons, Eddie and Peter Sanchez; and many other relatives and friends. He is survived by his companion, Cornelia Sanchez of the family home in Rainsville; stepchildren, Erminio "Don" Sanchez, and Paul Sanchez of Rainsville and Mary Mondragon and husband Ernesto of Las Vegas, N.M.; stepgrandson, Ernest "Popo" Mondragon whom he helped raise; three stepgrandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. JOSEPHINE G. LOPEZ, 73, of Plaza Blanca died Friday after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estevan and Domitilia Gallegos. She is survived by her husband, Jose George Lopez of Plaza Blanca; half-brothers, Leroy Gallegos and wife Pauline of Hernandez and Alfonso Gallegos of Albuquerque; half-sisters, Lucy Martinez and husband Bert of Chimayó and Estela Gallegos of Hernandez; close cousin, Tina Ortega and husband Orlando of Tomé and many other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home in Española. FREEMAN WEBSTER TOWERS, 96, of Santa Fe died Tuesday. He was born in Lynn, Mass. The family moved to New Hampshire where he attended a one-room school. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, graduating as a civil engineer in 1931. He was married in 1941 in Lynn and after retirement, moved to Denver; Owensboro, Ky.; Swampscott, Mass.; and then to Santa Fe in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; son, Samuel of Madisonville, Ky.; daughter, Polly Rose of Santa Fe; four grandchildren; and friends at the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation and at Kingston residence. SISTER CELINE OF THE CHILD JESUS (Eleanor O'Connell),77, died Dec. 23, surrounded by the love and prayers of her Sisters in Carmel.
A person of exceptional kindness, gentleness, and simplicity, Sister Celine's childlike character endeared her to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Margaret "Peggy" O'Herron; and niece Eleanor Beatty.
Sister Celine is survived by her sister, Sally Beatty; and nieces Mary Buscher and husband Gary, Kathleen Buscher and husband Tom, Susie McGuire and husband Gordon, Kathleen Blythe and husband Joe, Barbara Hamlet and husband Roger, Mary Madrid and husband Richard; and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
Sister Celine was loved by all who knew her. The Sisters wish to express their love and gratitude for the many kindnesses which were shown to Sister Celine and to their community during this time of her serious illness and death.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Carmelite Monastery Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 27, also at the Carmelite Chapel. Burial will follow the Mass at the Carmelite Monastery Cemetery.

GABRIEL CUEVAS,54, of Rio del Oso, died Dec. 23 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gabriel Cuevas Sr. He was employed as a cook at the Ohkay Casino.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Cuevas of Rio del Oso; sons, Juan Cuevas and wife Vicky and Mario Cuevas and wife Aracely, all of Tulsa, Okla., Marcos Cuevas and girlfriend Jackie Ferran of Española and Pedro and Jesus Cuevas of Rio del Oso; daughters, Lisbia Cuevas of Tulsa, Okla., and Mayra, Marina, and Magda, all of Rio del Oso; daughter-in-law, Louisa Padilla; close friends Ramon and Baudelia Chavez of Alcalde and Willie Garcia of El Guique; many grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Public visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 27 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of De Vargas Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Dec. 28 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española; please contact funeral home for time. EDWARD (LINCOLN) GONZALES, 80, of Santa Fe died Saturday.
He was preceded in death by his son, John E. Gonzales.
He was born in Santa Fe, the son of the late Gomesindo and Sofia Gonzales. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea.
He is survived by his sisters, Dora Blea and Helen and husband Bob Wright; brother, Gilbert and wife Brenda Gonzales; daughters, Mary M. Corriz, Edwina and husband Florgensio Marques, Sofie Gonzales and Martha Tapia and husband Cipi; sons, Leroy Gonzales, Ray Corriz and Ruben Corriz; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 .m. with a rosary to follow at 7 .m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at noon Thursday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ARMANDO LARRAGOITE, JR., 83, of Santa Fe died Thursday.
He was born in Santa Fe. He married Marie Alarid in Santa Fe in 1948. He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School and attended George Washington University. He served as a foreign service officer in Venezuela and Spain and with the U.S. Department of Labor in Mexico. He was a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, Santa Fe County Commission, director of the Santa Fe County Housing Authority and a private business owner. He was a member of La Union Protectiva. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armando Larragoite, Sr. and Paula Larragoite; and brother, Mariano Larragoite.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Pauline Brown and husband Don of Park City, Utah; son, Mark and wife Donna of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Bussell of Alameda, Calif., Amelia Brown of Portland, Ore., and Fannie Romero; brothers, Alfonso and wife Eva, Phillip and wife Margaret and Benny, all of Santa Fe, Claudio and wife Valentine of Oklahoma City, Gilbert and wife Marge of Albuquerque; and many other relatives.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Cathedral. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of your choice.
