ELEFIO J. ABEYTA SR., 77, of Lower San Pedro died Friday. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Salazar; parents, Alfredo and Bersabe Abeyta; brothers, Alfredito and Henry Abeyta. He is survived by children, Marie Homan, Elefio "Fofo" Abeyta, Jr. and wife Mary Ann all of Lower San Pedro, Debbie Valdez and husband Anthony of La Mesilla, Veronica Sisneros and husband Michael of Española, Leo Martinez of Upper San Pedro and Alfredo Abeyta and wife Sandra of Albuquerque; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Diolinda Brown and husband Orlando of Las Vegas, N.M., and Corrine Martinez and husband Celso of San Pedro; brother, Belarmino Abeyta of San Pedro; many nieces, nephews and many of other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. today at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada with interment at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

MARY "LUCY" MANZANARES, 89, of Costilla died Saturday. She is preceded in death by husband, Joe Manzanares; daughter-in-law, Ruth Manzanares; and son-in-law, Jake Arellano. She is survived by children, Benito A. Manzanares, Gloria Perales and husband Juan, Florence Marquez and husband Joseph, Henrietta Arellano, Patricia Manzanares and Andrea Duran; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church with interment to follow at Costilla Cemetery.

ANTONIA L. MEDINA, 92, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe died Saturday. She was born Aug. 29, 1911, in Santa Cruz. She retired from New Mexico state government. She was a devout Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Medina Sr.; sons, Arnold and Joseph Medina; parents, Emiterio and Marina Lopez; brothers, Pete, Pablo and Manuel Lopez; sisters, Annie Tapia and Margaret Gutierrez.
She is survived by brothers, Joe F. Lopez of California, Norbert Lopez and wife Daysi of Española; three grandchildren; special nieces Josie Macias, Cynthia Archuleta and Donna Dominguez.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at McGee Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial following at Rosario Cemetery.

FERMIN PADILLA, 93, of Costilla died Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Apolonita Arellano Padilla; and children, Orlando Padilla and wife Emily of Denver, Mary Martinez and husband Everette of Denver, Annabelle Archuleta and husband Roland of Los Angeles, Arthur Padilla of Denver, Tonita Padilla of Costilla, Pauline Rivera and husband Richard of Thornton, Colo., and Diana Russell of Denver; 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Memorial service and rosary 7 p.m. today at Rivera Chapel and 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Costilla. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church with interment to follow at Costilla Cemetery.

ROBERT ELLIOTT PRUNER II, 52, of Los Alamos died Sunday. He was born Aug. 21, 1951, in Chickasha, Okla. He served three years in the U.S. Army, graduated from the University of New Mexico and worked for 25 years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is preceded in death by his father Robert E. Pruner Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jean Egan; sisters, Nancy Jarnagin and Bobbie Harvey and fiancée Sue Malec and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at McGee Memorial Chapel with a 7 p.m. funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to an animal shelter.

STEVEN V. QUINTANA III, 14, of Santo Nino died Friday of injuries he suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 16, 1989.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Tomasita Ortega; aunt, Annette Gonzales; cousin, James Sanchez Jr.; paternal great grandparents, Desiderio and Clorinda Quintana; and aunt, Judy Quintana. He is survived by his parents, Steve Jr. and Antonette Quintana; brother, Andy Quintana of the home; sisters, Valerie Ortega of the home and Candie Quintana; great-grandmother, Maria Inez Ortega of Española; maternal grandfather, Sebedello Ortega of El Duende; paternal grandparents, Steve Sr. and Rosie Quintana of Santo Nino; very close cousin, Ileen Koteen; very close friend, Antonio Pena Quintana; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. today at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with interment to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

ARIANA RENDON, 25, of Dixon died Oct. 28.
She was born Dec. 19, 1977. Ariana was a 1996 graduate of McCurdy High School. She attended New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M. She was currently employed by the Ohkay Casino; she was an accomplished softball player having represented northern New Mexico in a National Softball Finals. Ariana made friends easily and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Manuel M. and Victoria R. Rendon; grandfather, Manuel J. Griego; aunt and godmother, Lorraine Pacheco; aunts and uncles, Laura Rendon, Isaac Griego, Donald Velarde, Steve Rendon, Simon Romero and Andrew Peneranda.
She is survived by her parents, Evila Rendon and David Valdez of Dixon and Frank F. Rendon and Sarah Rendon of Santa Fe; grandmothers, Eleanor Griego of Dixon and Cruzita Peneranda of Santa Fe; sisters, Julieanne Rendon of Santa Fe and Deia Christner and husband Dennis of Sun City, Calif.; brother, Timothy Martinez and wife Pamela of Santa Fe; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services have been held with interment at the Father Kupper Cemetery.

VIOLA L. SANCHEZ, 78, of Questa died Saturday. She is preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Sanchez; brother, Ruben LaForett; and sister, Gertrudes Vigil. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John R. Sanchez; children, Steve I. Sanchez and wife MaryAnn, Gary Sanchez and wife Maxine, all of Questa, John H. Sanchez and wife Maida of Anthony, Arlene Sanchez, Geraldine Cordova and husband Edwin, all of Questa, Annette Medina and husband Fernando of Ranchos de Taos, Raynelle Trujillo and husband John of Llano Quemado and Shane Sanchez of Questa; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Eva Gomez, Celia Garcia, Mary Martinez and husband Nabor and Rose LaForett.
Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony Church, Questa, with interment to follow at El Pueblito Cemetery.

ROY J. ALANIZ, 65, died Tuesday. For 33 years, he operated and managed the R&R Truckstop Diamond Shamrock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Elisama Alaniz, infant son, David Simon Alaniz, and brother, Nelson Alaniz.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Stella Alaniz; children, Lillian Alaniz, Roy J. Alaniz Jr. (Bertina), Levi Joseph Alaniz (Ruby Ann), Andrew Alaniz (Patsy) and Debra Mondragon (Anthony).
He is also survived by his brother, Albert Alaniz, and seven grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at San Francisco de Asis Church with burial to follow at New Llano Quemado Cemetery. Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.
