GAVINO RIVERA, 86, of Santa Fe died May 17 in Albuquerque.
He served with the 200th Coast Artillery and was a Bataan Death March survivor. He was a member of La Union Protectiva, VFW, American Ex-Prisoners of War and a lifetime member of the BPOE No. 460, Santa Fe Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Rivera; sisters, Ida Montano and Mary Smith; brothers, Gilbert Rivera, Max Rivera and wife Betty; sons, Nick Vialpando, David Quintana and wife Amanda, Nathan Carter and Elmer Carter; daughters, Desiree Vialpando, Lavina Carter; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday followed by a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Cathedral with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

CARLOS RUBIO, 70, of Albuquerque for the past 30 years and former resident of Las Vegas, N.M., died May 14 after a long illness.
He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., to the late Timoteo Rubio and Virginia Mondragon. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in active duty. He was employed by the Canada Dry Bottling Company for 14 years. He loved to go hunting, fishing and camping. He spent many hours with his beloved pet pigeons and always helped others. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Timoteo and Virginia M. Rubio; and brothers, Timoteo Rubio, David Rubio and George Rubio.
He is survived by his daughters, Carla Rubio Munoz and husband Cruz Arturo of Sapello, and Jenny Wescott and husband Mark of San Francisco; two grandchildren; four adopted grandsons; sisters and brothers, Josephine and Edward Rubio and wife Priscilla, all of Albuquerque, Frances Montoya and husband Leo of Las Vegas, N.M., John Rubio and wife Liz of Rio Rancho; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Church. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the same church with burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Las Vegas, N.M.

JUANITO S. RODARTE, 72, of Gascon died Monday at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque after an extended illness.
He was born in Gascon to the late Carlos Rodarte and Fedilia Valerio. He was employed with the Moss Ranch as a cattle rancher. He loved fishing, hunting, riding horses and raising cattle. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jose Rodarte; and sisters, Isabel Martinez and Apolonia Gonzales.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret F. Rodarte of Gascon; daughters, Josephine Crosson and husband, Chuck, of Albuquerque and Martha Sharp and husband, Daniel, of Longview, Wash.; two grandchildren; brother, Salomon Ramirez and wife, Angie, of Rociada; brothers and sisters-in-law, George Thomas and wife, Anna, from Albuquerque, Joe Martinez and wife, Mary Louise, and Richard Rudolph and wife, Madeline, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the same church. Burial will follow at the Santo Nino Cemetery in Rociada.

LUISA EVA SANDOVAL, 77, of Los Alamos died Monday after an unexpected illness.
She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos and Nuestra Seņora de Los Desamparados in El Cerrito.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Cirilio and Candido Aragon; sister, Ramona Garcia; and parents, Luis and Estefanita Aragon.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Vidal Sandoval; children, Estefanita Stacy and husband, Howard, and Frank Sandoval and wife, Karen, all of Los Alamos, and David and wife, Brandi, of Las Vegas, N.M.; stepson, Raymond Sandoval and wife, Mary Lou, of Jaconita; brothers and sisters, Teodoro Aragon of El Cerrito, Della Gallegos of Las Vegas, N.M., Olivia Fernandez and husband, Salvador, of Nebraska and Lala Sena and husband, Joe, of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the same church with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

He was born in Sabinoso to the late Paz Chavez and Guadalupe Lujan Chavez. He was united in marriage to Maria A. Sena. He was a rancher, who enjoyed breaking horses and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Emily Connelly; and brothers, Gilbert Chavez and Henry Chavez.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Angelina Chavez of the family home; sons, David Chavez, Joe Elmer Chavez and wife Rosie, Ray Chavez and wife Mary and Jose Alfonso Chavez, Jr., all of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughter, Angela Martinez and husband Jonathan of Rociada; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Frances Romero and Rose Sena and husband Eloy of Las Vegas, N.M. and Della Montoya and husband Bob of Denver; brother, Manuel Chavez of Las Vegas, N.M.; sisters and brother-in-law, Beverly Chavez, Angelica Chavez and Ted Connelly; and many other relatives and friends.
