PORFIDO A. ARAGON, 45, of Los Lunas, died Friday. He was preceded in death by his father, Salvador Aragon, and grandfather, Concepcion Gonzales. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sandra Marie; sons, Jeff and his wife Irma, Jeeie and his wife Angelica; his mother Eutimia of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Bella; five grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He attended school in Denver and enjoyed driving semi-trucks on long hauls. He also enjoyed his family and the outdoors. He worked for Pete's Landscaping for the last two years. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at the Assembly of God Church in North San Isidro with burial to follow in the San Isidro Labrador Cemetery. Gonzales Funerals & Cremations.

CYNTHIA ANN (THORNBURG) JOHNSON, 49, of Minneapolis, died Oct. 29 at home. She was born June 8, 1954, in Santa Fe. During her lifetime she lived in Santa Fe; La Paz, Bolivia; Lagos, Nigeria; Alexandria, Va.; Greeley, Colo.; New York; and Minneapolis. She graduated from Groveton High School in Fairfax County, Va., attended Baypath College in Longmeadow, Mass., and graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn. She married Dan Johnson on Sept. 27, 1997, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Santa Fe. She was preceded in death by her father, Sam C. Thornburg; and uncle, David Roy Thornburg. She is survived by her mother, Ann Thornburg; brothers, David and wife Jennifer and Tom and wife Kristy; seven grandchildren; aunts; cousins; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the St. John's United Methodist Church. A memorial service will also be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at Colonial Church in Edina, Minn. Memorials may be made in Cynthia's name to Landsun Homes, 2002 Westridge, Carlsbad, N.M., 88220; or the Wayside Women's House, 3705 Park Center Blvd., St. Louis Park, Minn., 55416. JOSE RICARDO MARTINEZ, 91, of Vadito, died Monday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbarita Lopez Martinez; and parents, Telefor and Juanita Martinez. He is survived by his companion, Nellie Montoya; daughters, Mabel Romero and husband Luciano, and Helen Lujan and husband Benito; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Thursday at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at San Antonio de Padua. Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

KATHY MARTINEZ, 55, of Questa, died Sunday. She was preceded in death by her father, Alex Quintana; and grandmother, Eufemia Gallegos. She was employed as a dietician at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos for 26 years until her retirement. She is survived by her longtime companion, Lloyd Varela and his son, Chris, of Questa; mother, Olivia Quintana of Questa; two sons, Martin Martinez and wife Yolanda and Brian Martinez and wife Debbie, all of Questa; brother, Alexander Jay Quintana of Questa; sisters, Renee "Sandy" Romero and husband Dan of Arroyo Seco and Lisa Bailon and husband Patrick of Questa; three grandchildren; six nephews and nieces; and numerous other close relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Rosaries will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Questa. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Questa with burial to follow. DeVargas Funeral Home of the Española Valley.

MINNIE ALICE ORTIZ died Monday at home after a long illness. She was born in Santa Fe on May 26, 1926, to John and Rose Catanach. She was one of the lead singers with Los Nativos De Santa Fe for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Flora; brother, Arthur Catanach; brothers-in-law, Alejandro, Macario, Erineo and Fidel Ortiz, Jim Simpson and Patricio Gurule; sisters-in-law, Flora Rodriguez, Bernadette, Mina and Frances Ortiz; and nephew, George Ortiz. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Inez Ortiz; sons: Leroy and wife Irene, Patrick and wife Dolores, Robert and wife Fela and son Paul, all of Santa Fe, and Ricardo and wife Shirley of Tyler, Texas; daughter, Alice Gee and husband Rob of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Tina Catanach, Josie Simpson and Connie Gurule; brothers, Leo Catanach and wife Susie, Ernest Catanach and wife Mary Ann, John Catanach Jr. and wife Jackie, Rudy Catanach and wife Jo Ann, Lawrence Catanach and wife Norma; brothers-in-law, Antonio M., Rumaldo and Sotero Ortiz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 4-5 p.m. Thursday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service.

JACOBO "JAKE" QUINTANA, 82, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Monday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Quintana and Paulita Gonzales; infant daughter, Gloria Quintana; son, Edward C. Quintana; brother, Jose Quintana, and sister, Josefita Trujillo. He is survived by his wife, Magdalena Quintana; son, Gilbert and wife, Angie; daughters, Mary Helen Romero and husband Ted, Velma Gallegos of Milan, Oliver Ortiz of Albuquerque, Lourdes Dominguez and Johnny Pino; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and many friends. A rosary will be recited tonight at 7 at the Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday with burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Rogers Mortuary.

JANE YUST RIVERA, 78, of Fort Worth, Texas, died Sept. 27. She was born to Walter and Ruth Yust on Oct. 13, 1924, in New York City. Her father was well-known for being the editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia Britannica and managing editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer. She was raised in Philadelphia and Winnetka, Ill. She attended Northwestern University and the University of New Mexico, where she earned her degree in anthropology. She was with Santa Fe Public Schools for more than 30 years. Her pet project was R.I.F. (Reading is Fundamental). She felt very strongly that every child should have books available for reading. She married Gilbert Rivera of Santa Fe on Feb. 10, 1948. She is survived by three children, John Rivera and wife Susanne; Peggy Rivera; Larry Rivera and wife Tina; six grandchildren; a brother, Larry, and wife Clara Munoz; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Cathedral with burial at 1 p.m. at the National Cemetery.

BERNARDO F. RODRIQUEZ, 68, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Friday, at Northeastern Regional Hospital following a long illness. He was born March 2, 1935, in Golondrinas to the late Jose F. Rodriquez and Lenora Archuleta Rodriquez. He was married May 29, 1965, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Toni Vigil. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. He retired in 1984 from the Kaiser Steel Corp., where he was employed as a crane operator. His hobbies were playing bingo, watching the Western Channel, watching wrestling, listening to music and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an Oakland Raiders fan. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Aaron Campos. He is survived by his wife, Toni Rodriquez of the family home in Las Vegas, N.M.; daughter, Laura Sandoval and husband Marvin of Albuquerque; son, Tim Rodriquez and fiancee Kimberly Ludi; five grandchildren; sister, Maria Campos of Tres Ritos; stepmother, Aurora Rodriquez of San Bernardino, Calif.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mass will be celebrated 9 a.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Rogers Mortuary.

HELEN MARIE SANCHEZ, 65, of Ojo Sarco, died Sunday after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Dorothy Mirich; brother, Bud Mirich; sister, Goldie Sorenson; father and mother-in-law, Edwardo and Matilda Sanchez; and brothers-in-law, Clarence and Carlos Sanchez. She is survived by her husband Floyd Sanchez of the family home; four children, Vicki Sanchez of Ojo Sarco, John Sanchez and wife Naomi of Chamisal, Fred Sanchez and wife Monica of Las Trampas and Joey Sanchez and wife Rosanna of La Villita; sisters, Beverly Braach and Betty Templeton of Montana; and many other relatives and friends. Cremation to take place.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests offerings be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at any Catholic Church in her honor.

HENRY "DICKIE" GUILLEN, 65, of Española died Sunday after a long illness. He worked for 26 years for the U.S. Postal Service and was a hotel owner. He was active in local theater with a passion for acting and loved stock car racing. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Española. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Anita Guillen; brother, Tranquilino Guillen; sister, Teresina Galvez; and an infant son. He is survived by his wife, Bette Guillen of Española; children, Reina Guillen of Santa Fe, Reynal Guillen and wife Donna of Los Angeles; Reynaldo Guillen and wife Lori Valdez Guillen of Española; two grandsons; brothers and sisters, Rebecca Salazar of Alcalde, Felipe Guillen and wife Matilde, Elmer Guillen and wife Frances all of Española, Clarabelle Villareal and husband Merce of Albuquerque; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary R. Lucero of Albuquerque, Joe R. Rivera of California and the Chacon family of Ojo Caliente; and many other relatives and friends. A wake service and cremation have taken place. DELFINO MARTINEZ, 80, of Chimayó died Monday after a long illness. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and the Holy Name Society who built the Holy Family Church. He loved hunting with his sons, swimming with his family at the Santa Cruz Lake and inner tubing with his grandsons. He liked to read the Bible and history books and was a restaurant connoisseur. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago J. and Cruzita Martinez; and stepmother, Amalia Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Lea Martinez of Chimayó; sons, Carlos Martinez and wife Carla T., and Jake L. Martinez and wife Dolores M. of Upper San Pedro; daughter, Marilyn Peabody and husband Troy L. of Española, and Helen Montoya and husband Charles of Rio Rancho; brothers and sisters, Alicia of Chimayó, Elias of Las Vegas, N.M., Adelaido and wife Brawley of Portland, Ore., and Raymond and wife Vickie, of Santa Fe; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation begins at 6:30 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary following at 7.
