JAMES "BEN" WHITSELL, 45, of Chili died August 8 after a long illness.
He worked as a car salesman and a used car manager at Rio Valley Ford, Capital Ford in Santa Fe and Zangara Dodge in Espaņola.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Whitsell of Chili; children, James Michael Whitsell of Las Cruces and Christopher Whitsell of Chili; parents, John and Cleo Patricia Whitsell of Texas; brothers and sisters, Paula Whitsell and husband Mike Gorski of California, John Whitsell and wife Suzanne, Roxanne Gonzales and husband Casey, all of Texas, Patrick Whitsell and wife Renee of California, and Melissa Jones and husband Steve of Missouri; brothers and sisters-in-law, Percilla Roybal and husband Aurelio, Albert Gallegos and wife Lorraine, Sam Gallegos and wife Martha, Steve Gallegos and wife Eileen, Leroy Gallegos and wife Gloria, Josie Velasquez and husband Elmer, Jeff Gallegos and wife Jana, and Rose Montoya and husband John; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 10 with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11 at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez with burial to follow at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hernandez. JOHN MICHAEL HERRERA SR., 53, of Santa Fe died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Herrera Sr.
He was a loving and giving man. He had a great love and respect for his sons. He loved to play his guitar and sing with his family and friends. He shared stories of his life in his music. He had many talents. He was an artist in his work, his music and his life. He recently donated his hair to the Locks of Love organization for cancer patients.
He is survived by sons, John Michael Herrera Jr. and Joseph Herrera; one granddaughter; mother, Patricia Herrera; brothers, Louis Herrera, Fr. Jose Herrera, and Ted Herrera; sisters, Irene Romero and husband Edmund, Judy Montoya and husband Orlando, Patricia Carrillo, Theresa Herrera, Cathy Trujillo and husband Robert, MaryAnne Escudero, Carla Konwin; special niece, Mindy Tafoya; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. A private burial will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the St. Elizabeth Shelter in Santa Fe.

JOHN CHRISTOPHER LONG, 27, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, in Las Cruces.
He was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army for eight years.
He is survived by his parents, Dora Urban and Daniel Long; sisters, Brandy Long, Lena and husband Kenneth McDowell and Amanda Esquibel; and many other relatives.
Friends will gather at 6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. today, August 16 at Berardinelli Family Chapel.

MEREGILDO MARTINEZ SR., 82, of Llano Quemado died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005.
He was a longtime rancher in Wyoming and Colorado and retired from the town of Taos as a heavy equipment operator. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Virginia Martinez; son, Johnny Martinez; brothers and sisters, Nabor Martinez, Luis Martinez, Florinda Martinez, Alfonso Martinez, Elena Martinez, Maria Duran and Teodorita Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Martinez; children, Virginia Romero (Urban), Teddie Santistevan (David), Charlie Martinez, Rudy Martinez (Debra), Betty Martinez, Geraldine Martinez, Peter Martinez (Gayle), Meregildo Martinez Jr. (Debra) and Eddie Martinez (Paula); 26 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 at San Francisco de Asis Church. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 18 at the Good New Christian Fellowship with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.

PRUDENCIO MONTANO, 91, of Las Vegas, N.M. died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque.
He was a veteran of World War II. He worked for many years at the Meadows Home and retired from the state hospital as a cook. After his retirement, he dedicated his time to the needs of veterans and served as a volunteer for many years as coordinator of social events for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). In this capacity, he visited with veterans, planned Christmas parties and distributed cigarettes and candy to disabled veterans. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and the Society of San Jose.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelina; son, Reynaldo Montano, five brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his children, Marie (Montano) Fuemmeler and Francis (Montano) Haid, both of Albuquerque, Eloy Montano of Farmington, Carmen (Montano) Vigil, and Louie Montano, both of Brighton, Colo., and Prudencio Montano Jr. of Las Vegas, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; brother, Lucio Montano of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today, August 16 at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

RICHARD L. "MO" MOORE, 65, of Santa Fe died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005.
He was born to the late Robert L. and Sarah I. Moore in Alamosa, Colo.
He retired from the city of Santa Fe where he was a special events coordinator and director of Parks and Recreation.
He is survived by his daughter, Leann Stevens and husband Tyler of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Robert T. Moore of Albuquerque; and many other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service Chapel.
