BRUCE STEPHEN BLISS of Santa Fe died Sept. 5, 2005.
He worked many years as a financial forecaster for Hughs Aircraft in Culver City, Calif. After moving to Santa Fe in 1979, he held a similar position with the state Corrections Department.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Bruce E. Bliss and wife Patricia; sister, Jean Yarbrough and husband Richard.

LORENZA FUENTES, 103, of Santa Fe died Sept. 7, 2005.
She will be remembered as a loving aunt by her niece Silvia Fuentes; great-nieces Blanca Trujillo, Sonia Fuentes, Lillian Castro and Ana Julia Gonzales; great-nephew Jesus Antonio Fuentes; great-great nephews Alex Castro Jr., Chris Trujillo Jr. and Jorge Castro; and great-great-nieces Juliana Gonzales, Jazmin Castro, Gabriela Trujillo and Sofia Aguilar, all of Santa Fe.

J. DOLORES MONTANO, 73, of Santa Fe died Sept. 5, 2005, after a long illness.
She graduated from Loretto Academy and attended St. Joseph's College in Albuquerque.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Paulita Rivera; father, Adolfo Rivera, Sr.; and sister, Valentina Rivera.
She is survived by her husband, Albert S. Montano; children, Jeana Lucero, Gloria Romero and husband Martin, Deana Trujillo and husband George Chavez, Albert Louis Montano and wife Rosemary; seven grandchildren; brothers, Edward J. Rivera, Adolfo Rivera, Jr., Gilbert Adrian Rivera and wife Sofie; and many other relatives.
A visitation will be held at 5 p.m. followed by a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Cathedral with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

OLETA MERRY BOYCE, 96, of Santa Fe, died Monday. She was an educator, mentor to hundreds of Native American young people, master gardener and one of Santa Fe's Living Treasures.
She was born Dec. 19, 1908 in the southeastern Oklahoma town of Garvin, and throughout her life remained exceedingly proud of her Choctaw Indian heritage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Boyce, who died in 1976, and by her parents, William Rob Roy Merry and Lizzie Webster Merry; brothers John C. and Roy Merry and sisters Susan Elizabeth Felsman, and Marie Merry.
She is survived by two stepsons, George of Peņa Blanca and Robert of Carson City, Nev.; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Winn of Mesa, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
Oleta graduated from Murray Junior College with a teaching certificate, then completed her bachelor's degree in home economics at Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University. She spent 20 years employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Extension Service in Oklahoma and Arizona, working in home economics with Navajo and Pima women and children. In 1954 she went to work training thousands of Navajo girls in life and job skills at Intermountain Indian School at Brigham City, Utah. In 1962 she came to the newly established Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe to head the Student Services Dept., overseeing the dormitories, dining hall and after-hour activities of the Indian students from all over the country. In 1964, she married Dr. George Boyce, founder and leader of the school.
She was very active in garden clubs including the Santa Fe Council of Garden Clubs, Floral Designers and Las Sembradoras Garden Club. She was a National Flower Show Judge Emeritus and a past president of the State Council of Garden Clubs. Oleta was also an honorary member of the Santa Fe Rose Society and the Santa Fe Iris Society. She hosted the national meeting of the State Council of Garden Clubs during her term as president. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and organizing numerous volunteer and service projects. She was active in her Church Circle until her death. She provided leadership in the Professional Home Economists organization and helped begin the Council of International Relations, to host visitors to Santa Fe.
In 1990 she moved into El Castillo Retirement Residences and personally funded and maintained a flower garden for the enjoyment of the residents and staff. In 2001 she was honored as a Santa Fe Living Treasure and was recognized by many for her years of community service and support of Indian education in Santa Fe and the Southwest.
Memorial services will be Friday, Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Rosario Chapel in Santa Fe, the temporary home of the First Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church for the new chapel or to the Institute of American Indian Arts, both of Santa Fe.

JUAN PACHECO, 86, of Santa Fe died Wednesday. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Amelia (Lala), on Jan. 1, 2000.
Mr. Pacheco was born in Alameda on June 5, 1919. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.
This kind, loving and patient father is survived by his children: Maida Naquin and husband Douglas, Rita Griego and husband Marcos of Albuquerque, Jose Pacheco and wife Rosabelle, and Randolph Pacheco of Santa Fe; sister, Lola Martinez of Albuquerque and six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 6:00 p.m. at Berardinelli's. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 19, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

MELRIC "MEL" JOHN YORDY, 49, of Albuquerque died Thursday. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Merle E. Yordy; mother, Doris Vanbebber; and sister, Anna Mae "Missy" Yordy.
He is survived by his son, Mason Lee Yordy of Albuquerque; mother who raised him, Anna Mae Yordy of Espaņola; sister, Martha Lee Yordy of Denver; brother, Jason Yordy and wife Crusita of Espaņola; mother-in-law, Patricia Babcock of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
Public visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the United Methodist Church in Espaņola. Please contact the mortuary for the time of this service.

ALEXANDRO "ALEX" CRUZ, a resident of El Prado for over 50 years, passed away Tuesday in Taos. He was preceded in death by his wife Maggie Cruz.
He is survived by his daughters, Ruby (Jerry) Quintana, Yolanda (Stan) Padilla, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a charter member of Kiwanis, VFW and the Retired Teachers Association. He served on the El Prado Domestic Water Board and the Des Montes Ditch and Water Association Board. He was an avid outdoorsman, having earned the distinction as an expert fly fisherman. He loved sports, particularly football, and hardly ever missing a broadcast of the Taos Tigers, New Mexico Lobos, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Denver Broncos.
He served as a medic during World War II, mostly in England. He spent over 35 years as an educator and he will long be remembered by students throughout Taos County. He was a loyal member of the Taos Presbyterian Church, having served as an elder.
He was a 1936 graduate of Menaul School, where he was a member of the alumni association. He received his bachelor's and masters degrees from New Mexico Highlands University.
An evening prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church im Taos. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the same church. There will be a luncheon after the services at the church, followed by interment of the urn at the Ranchos de Taos Presbyterian Cemetery.
