LALA APODACA
Lala Apodaca, 80, of Moriarty passed away April 12, 2006 in Moriarty.
Lala was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Sombrio, N.M., to Catalino and Delfina (Velasquez) Montano. Lala was raised in Derramadero, N.M., until marriage, when she moved to Encino. In 1948, Moriarty became her lifetime home. Lala was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Lala is survived by her husband, Manuel Apodaca; daughters, Vera and husband Thomas Plant Jr., Nora and husband Richard Alexander, Connie Apodaca, Jane Apodaca, Helen Apodaca, and Rosalie and husband John Astorga, all of Moriarty, and Dorothy and husband Robert Tanuz of Castle Rock, Colo.; sons, Albert and wife Frances Apodaca, and Larry and wife Victoria Apodaca, all of Moriarty, Michael and wife Starla Apodaca of Mesquite, Texas, and Fredrick and wife Linda Apodaca of Stanley; 42 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Lala was preceded in death by her sons Manuel (Sonny) Apodaca Jr. and Alfonso Apodaca; her parents, Catalino and Delfina Montano; her sisters, Catalina Garcia and Ferminia Paiz; and brother, Emiliano Montano.
A rosary was recited Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with Mass on Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel with Msgr. Salas officiating. Burial followed at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty.
The family requests donations to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Altar Society.

PAULINE THOMAS
Pauline Thomas, 91, of McIntosh passed away April 12, 2006 in Silver City.
Pauline was born April 25, 1914, in McIntosh to Garrett Saddler Gates and Anna Pearl Collins Gates. Pauline married Cecil William Thomas on Dec. 21, 1934. Pauline was a member of the First Baptist Church of Estancia. She retired as county supervisor of Torrance County Health and Human Services Department in 1977.
Pauline is survived by her sons, Gayland Thomas of Silver City and Gary and wife Jane (VanScoyk) Thomas of McIntosh; daughters, Kathy Thomas of Silver City and Beth and husband Ronnie Blackwell of Checotah, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett and Anna Gates; two brothers; three sisters; husband Cecil Thomas in 1973; and granddaughter Tina Sue Thomas.
The funeral was Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Estancia with Frank Rippetoe officiating. Internment was at the Estancia Cemetery.

YVONNE M. STARAS
Yvonne M. Staras, 64, of Tajique, NM, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at home. Yvonne was born Nov. 27, 1941, to Edward and Madonna (Wiwi) Staras. Yvonne moved to New Mexico 25 years ago, coming from Illinois. Yvonne belonged to a quilting club at the Moriarty Library in Moriarty, N.M. Her sisters, Sharon Walnoha, and Georgette Aanerud and her companion, Harold Staley, survive Yvonne. Her parents, Edward and Madonna Staras preceded her in death. Arrangements for cremation have been handled by Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, Moriarty.

HANNAH GRACE NIELSEN
Hannah Grace Nielsen, 11, passed away March 15, 2006 due to spinal meningitis.
She is survived by her grandmother, LoLa Rogers; her parents, Bob and Becky Nielsen; and her sister, Shayla.
Hannah's memorial services are pending and will be held in the East Mountains.
The family has requested that donations be made to Hannah's memorial fund, P.O. Box 1654, Tijeras, NM 87059.

MARGARET LEA McMATH MILHOAN
Margaret Lea McMath Milhoan, 58, of Clarendon, Texas, passed away April 2, 2006 in Oklahoma City.
Margaret was born July 9, 1947, to Jim McMath and Madeline (Corliss) McMath. Margaret worked for the Department of Human Resources in Clarendon. Margaret graduated from Estancia High School in 1964. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarendon. Her whole life was her children and her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her son, Jimmy and wife Kelley Milhoan of Oklahoma City; daughter, Melissa and husband Jaramie Wilson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister, Dorothy "sister" Robertson and husband Ernie of Moore, Okla.; nephews, Greg and wife Tammy Robertson of Columbus, Miss., Roger and wife Kelly Robertson of Virginia Beach, Va.; great-nieces, Lauren Robertson, Shanna Pearson; great-nephews, Tyler Robertson, Joe Ray Pearson and Josh Robertson; grandchildren, Alex Milhoan, Carissa Crump and Ashlie Wilson.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.
Margaret will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
A funeral was held April 6 at 11 a.m. at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Mountainair with Gary Lee Watts and Ernie Robertson officiating. Interment was at the Mountainair Cemetery in Mountainair.

J.C. ALDERSON
J.C. (Budo) Alderson passed away April 4, 2006.
He was a remarkable husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He leaves behind his loving family, sister Margurette L. Wooten; sons Gary and Jace Alderson; and their families.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivien.
Services were held at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Moriarty on Wednesday.
Donations may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2429, Moriarty, NM 87035.

TONY "TIGER" CHAVEZ SR.
Tony "Tiger" Chavez Sr., 65, a longtime resident of Moriarty, passed away April 7, 2006 in Albuquerque with his loving family beside him. He was born June 12, 1940, to Cayetano L. and Simona T. Chavez, in Palma, N.M. He married Mary Louise Chavez on Jan. 23, 1960, in San Frisco, Calif. Tiger was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty and was the owner and a truck driver of Chavez & Sons Trucking; he was driving until just a few days before his death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Louise Chavez of Moriarty; two sons, Tony "Tiger Jr." and wife Crystal Chavez of Moriarty, and Georgie Chavez and Patrick Vigil; two daughters, Nellie and husband Chris Gomez of Estancia, Dorothy and husband Jonathan Ipiotis of Moriarty and daughter-in-law Marie Chavez; four sisters, Frances and husband Mario Cuellar of Foley, Ala., Maria and husband Davie Thompson of Waterbury, Conn., Delores and husband Wade Carson of Houston, Texas, and Elena and husband Donald Chavez of Moriarty; four brothers, Joe M. and wife Jane Chavez, Albert and wife Clarabelle Chavez, Carlos and wife Leslie Chavez, and Cayetano Jr. and wife Julia Chavez, all of Moriarty, and brother-in-law Ernest Chavez of Albuquerque; three aunts, Florinda Encinias and Celina Encinias of Moriarty and Melita Aragon of Vaughn; one uncle, Manuel L. Chavez of Moriarty; 10 grandchildren, Robert and wife Consuelo Chavez, Jeff Chavez, Marcos Chavez, Christopher Gomez, Candido Gomez, Yolanda Chavez, Yevette Chavez, Malena Ipiotis, Jonathan Ipiotis, and Jude Ipiotis; three great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Chavez, Isaac Chavez and Mariah Gomez; and many nieces and nephews.
Tiger was preceded in death by his parents, Cayetano L. and Simona T. Chavez; grandparents, Manuel S. and Tiodorita Chavez, and Tranquilino and Manuelita Trujillo; sister, Mata DuGan; brother-in-law, Michael DuGan; one son, Sammy Chavez; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Max and Nellie Chavez.
Tiger will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, truck driver and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A rosary was recited Monday and Mass was held Tuesday at the Moriarty Civic Center with Father Young officiating. Burial followed next to his son, Sammy Chavez, at the Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty.
