LUIE N. MARTINEZ, 53, of Ojo Sarco died Wednesday unexpectedly. He was preceded in death by his father, Luciano Martinez; brothers, Arthur and Felix Martinez. He is survived by his children, Luie Junior Martinez and wife Michelle of Ojo Sarco, Jeremiah Arthur Martinez and his mother, Antonette Garcia both of El Llano, Tessie Marie Martinez and Deven DeAnn Martinez both of Ojo Sarco; four grandchildren; wife and mother of his children, Mary Martinez of Hernandez; mother, Mary Martinez and stepfather Felix Levi Martinez of Ojo Sarco; sisters, Eloisa Velasquez and husband Delfidio of California, Flora Romero and husband Elmer of Silver City, Petrita Romero and husband Arnold of Cordova, Vivian Martinez and lifelong companion Barney Romero and Gloria Martinez all of Ojo Sarco; brothers, Joseph Martinez and companion Kathryn, and Ralph Martinez all of Ojo Sarco, Albert Martinez and wife Angela of Santa Fe, Eloy Martinez and wife Josephine of Chamita, Carlos Martinez and wife Lorie, and Dwayne Martinez all of Ojo Sarco. Cremation has taken place. Services are pending. DeVargas Funeral Home of the Española Valley.

ERLINDA MONTANO, 89, of Mora County died Sunday at Vida Encantada Nursing Home in Las Vegas, N.M. She was born Dec. 28, 1914 in El Oro, to the late Porfirio Campos and Ruperta Trujillo Campos. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eliseo Montano; sons, Johnny "Monanie" Montano and Teodore Montano; daughter, Prescilla Martinez; brother, Leandro Campos; and sister, Carmelita Sanchez; grandsons, Daniel Manuel Padilla Montano and Wayne Martinez. She is survived by her beloved sons, Manuel Montano of La Aguila, who cared for her for many years, and Pete Montano of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters, Lillian Delgaido of Rawlings, Wyo., and Linda Abeyta and husband Steve of Grants; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Raynalda Romero and husband Elfirio of Colorado, and Angie Famingo of Wyoming; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Gertrude Church in Mora. Interment will follow at La Aguila Cemetery between Le Doux and Mora. Nelson Funeral Home.

FLORIPA "PIPA" RUBIN, 81, of Wagon Mound died Friday at Vida Encantada Nursing & Rehab Center following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1922, in Springer to the late Leonardo and Delfinia Gonzales Montoya. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Abran, Frank, and Orlando Montoya; daughter, Louisa Link; son, Wayne Hiller; sister, Lorenza Baca and Serafina Furniture; brother-in-law, Ismael Rubin; four sisters-in-law, Mena Flores, Carmen Guerra, Tina Rubin, and Martha Rubin. She was a member of the Mora County Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Pete Rubin of Wagon Mound; four sons, Ivan Hiller and his wife Peggy of Broomfield, Colo., Abran Rubin and his wife Ludy Ann of Los Lunas, Pedro Rubin and his wife Viola of Mesa Ariz., and Leonard Rubin of Wagon Mound; one daughter, Anita Lynch and her husband Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Juan E. Montoya of Wagon Mound; brother-in-law, Juan "Eloy" Rubin of San Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at the same church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the same church. Interment will follow in the Santa Clara Cemetery in Wagon Mound. Gonzales Funerals & Cremations.

JOSEPHINE J. TRUJILLO of Santa Fe died Monday. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa; father, Aurelio; and brothers, Ralph, Joseph E., and Felix Trujillo. She is survived by her brother, Nick; sisters, Frances D. Conley, Elena Montoya, Teresa Griego, and Juanita Martinez; and many other relatives. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. today where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Rosario Cemetery. ALFREDO G. HERNANDEZ, 82, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday at the Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Mora on Sept. 9, 1921, to the late Juan Hernandez and Socorro Rivera Hernandez. He was married on June 6, 1940, to Chonita Cde Baca. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a private first class. He was awarded the European, African and Middle Eastern medals, as well as the Asiatic Pacific Theater and the Good Conduct medal. He worked for many years with the Las Vegas Lumber Mill as a lumber grader. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Socorro Hernandez; son, Michael Hernandez on Sept. 26, 1994; sister, Mary "Maranita" Cde Baca on Sept. 27, 2003; and brother, Encarnacion Hernandez on Dec. 18, 1944. He is survived by his wife, Chonita Hernandez of the family home in Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters and sons, Mabel Hernandez and Timo Valerio of Las Vegas, N.M., John Hernandez and wife Sandy of Denver, Encarnation Hernandez and wife Regina of Sunnyvale, Calif., Louise Mosher and husband Donald of Rio Rancho, Ray Hernandez and wife Viola of Phillips Ranch, Calif., Frank Hernandez of Las Vegas, N.M., and William Hernandez and wife Beverly of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Montoya of East Los Angeles, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends. Rosary devotional services will be conducted at 7 tonight at the Rogers Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at the St. Anthony's Cemetery. Rogers Mortuary.

FELICE "TITA" MOYA ROYBAL, of Santa Fe, died Tuesday. She was born in Abiquiu on Feb 15, 1915. In 1934, she married Abedon Roybal. They lived in Santa Fe for a time then moved to Albuquerque where they raised their children.
They remained there until Abedon's passing in 1996, and Felice returned to Santa Fe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Abedon Roybal; two sons, Abedon "Scott" Roybal, Jr., and Richard Roybal; and three grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Priscilla and husband Andy Balboa of Norwalk, Calif., and Beatrice and husband Seferino Gurule of Santa Fe; son, Orlando Roybal and wife Marina of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at Cristo Rey Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the same church with interment to follow at Rosario Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service.

GERALD E. SANDOVAL, 53, of Ruidoso Downs, and originally of Chimayó, died Monday. He attended Holy Cross School, St. Michael's High School and graduated from Los Alamos High School and later attended Highlands University. He was preceeded in death by his paternal grandparents, Juan and Chonita Sandoval; maternal grandparents, Bonifacio and Epifania Martinez; and uncle and godfather, Celedonio Martinez. He is survived by his children, Gabriel Sandoval and companion Nichole Wheeler, Feliz Sandoval and boyfriend Joe Romero of Santa Fe, and Damian Sandoval and companion Dennell Gutsch of Albuquerque; parents, Ruben and Adelina Sandoval of Ruidoso Downs and formerly of Chimayó; one granddaughter; two sisters, Christine Farrington and husband Galen of Ruidoso, and Evelyn Jacquez and husband Gene of La Mesilla; mother of his children, Laura Ulibarri; and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be at 6:30 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayó. JOSE M. CASADOS, 75, of Taos, died Wednesday. He retired from the Forest Service in 1990. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Casados of Ranchitos; children, Eloida Torres (Jimmy) of Llano Quemado, Gilbert Casados of Ranchitos, Michael Casados (Manuela) of Taos and Angie Casados (Tim) of Ranchitos. He is also survived by grandchildren, Charlotte Martinez (Max), Jamie Torres, Gilbert Casados Jr. (Maria), Joseph Casados, Carla Casados, Lucia Torres, Carlos Casados and Andrew Casados; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Casados and Abigal Gallegos; and many other relatives. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with burial to follow at Valdez Cemetery. Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

ALBERTA M. (JEAN) RYAN, 78, died Tuesday in Santa Fe. She had been a resident of Los Alamos since 1949. She was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Ramona, Kan., where her parents, James W. and Modena Harder McRae were farmers. Following graduation from Elizabeth Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., in 1946, she moved to Leadville, Colo., and was employed as a nurse at the Climax, Colo., molydenum mine. She met her husband, Bernard "Bun" Ryan there. They were married in Santa Fe on Sept. 10, 1949, and moved to Los Alamos that same year. Bun was employed at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She was employed for many years at the Los Alamos Medical Center as a registered nurse working in both pediatrics and orthopedics. The last 10 years of her nursing career were spent as a nursing supervisor for occupational medicine at LANL.
She retired from the lab in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Grace Hockaday.
She is survived by her husband, Bun; daughter, Susan Jones and life partner Ming Moy; son, Michael Ryan and life partner Darlene Rich; two grandchildren; sister, Mildred Waller of Reno, Nev.; and brother, Leroy McRae of Leota, Kan.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3700 Canyon Road in Los Alamos.
A reception will follow at the Parish Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Española Animal Shelter, 160 Hamm Parkway in Española, or to an animal rescue service of your choosing.

ROMAN ATTENBERGER, 84, of Galisteo, formerly of LeRoy, Wis., died Thursday following a long battle with cancer. He was an active member of his community, his church, the Galisteo Water Association and the Santa Fe Chile and Marching Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; and second wife, Alisa; his daughter, Rachel Smith, who died earlier this year; and son, James Attenberger.
Beloved father of Romona Scholder, of Galisteo, and Richard Attenberger and wife Su of Colorado Springs, Colo., he is also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Galisteo Volunteer Fire Department, 31 Avenida Vieja, Box 97, Galisteo, N.M., 87540.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Nuesta Sna de Los Remedios in Galisteo. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Nuesta Sna de Los Remedios. Burial will follow in Galisteo Cemetery.
