BETTY GLOSS HILL
Betty Gloss Hill, 79, passed away peacefully on July 22 in Albuquerque with her loving family at her side.
Betty was born in Otto, N.M., on May 7, 1926, to Earl Gordon and Bodie (Long) Gilmer and was raised by Bodie and stepfather Stuart Gloss in Moriarty. Betty graduated from Albuquerque High in 1943 and from Albuquerque Business College in 1944. She married Fred C. Hill on March 3, 1945. She was the founding president of the Albuquerque Home Builders Auxiliary. Betty had a warm, bright, sociable personality. She was an avid square dancer and artist who enjoyed ceramics and painting. Betty will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred C. Hill of Albuquerque; her children, Kayreen Sargent of Edgewood, Kreg B. Hill of Albuquerque and Karl G. Hill of Seattle, Wash.; her sister, Frankye Flemins of Oklahoma City; and many more family members and friends.
The immediate family held a graveside service at the Mountainview Cemetery in Moriarty. A memorial service will be held Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. at Los Altos Christian Church, 11900 Haines Ave NE in Albuquerque. The church is one block east and one block south of the intersection of Indian School and Juan Tabo.

MACEL MARGARETTE GARRISON
Macel Margarette Garrison, 93, a longtime resident of Estancia, passed away July 26.
She was born May 20, 1912, in Putnam, W.V., to John Wesley and Gertrude (Newell) Garrison. Macel had worked as a cafeteria worker at Kirtland Air Force Base before retiring.
Her sister, Agatha Garrison of Estancia, and numerous nieces and nephews survive Macel.
A funeral was Friday at the First Baptist Church of Estancia with Pastor Eric Turner officiating. Another funeral service was held Monday at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home in Poca, W.V. Interment followed at the Otterbein Cemetery in Evans, W.V.

ANNABELL LESPERANCE
Annabell Lesperance, 54, of Tajique passed away July 28 in Denver.
She was born in Tajique on May 29, 1951, to Bitero and Plajeras (Garcia) Anaya. Annabell was a talented homemaker who is most remembered for her cheerful and beautiful smile that brought joy to many. She was a loving, caring and giving daughter, mom, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed physically, but we know that she is with us spiritually.
She is survived by her parents, Bitero and Plajeras Anaya; her children, Rudy, Anna and Peggy Lesperance; grandchildren, Bradley Desiree Lesperance and Baby Ware; sisters, Betty Montoya and husband Jerry, Emma Chavez and husband Cecil, Sandra B. Chavez and Antonette Anaya; brothers, Robert Anaya and wife Flora, and Frank Anaya and wife Mary Ann; nephews, Jerry Montoya and wife Emilia, Isidro Montoya and wife Jessica, Gerald Anaya and wife Geraldine, Florian Anaya, Francisco Anaya and Jason A. Quintana; nieces, Emily Chavez and Vanessa Anaya; great-nephews, Augustine and Nathaniel Montoya; and great-nieces, Asha Montoya and Catherine Anaya.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Emilia Garcia, and Marcofla and Juan Anaya; and uncles, aunts and cousins. All that knew and loved her will miss her.
A rosary was recited Monday at the San Antonio Catholic Church in Tajique. A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at San Antonio Catholic Church with Father William Young officiating. Interment was at the San Antonio Catholic Cemetery in Tajique.

THELMA NAOMI WILSON
Thelma Naomi Wilson, 84, of Mountainair passed away Aug. 3 in Mountainair with her loving family beside her.
Thelma was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Dickens, Texas, to Frank and Naomi (Hudspeth) Swan. She married Samuel Wilson on Sept. 2, 1942. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1974. She moved to Mountainair in April 1996, coming from Jacksonville, Texas.
Thelma will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Thelma is survived by a son, Samuel Edward Wilson of Mountainair; daughters, Jimmie Gilbert and husband Charles, Barbara Mathis and Mary Shaw, all of Mountainair; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and brother Frank Swan preceded her in death.
Graveside services were held Monday at the Moore Cemetery in Bruceville, Texas.

JESSIE ARILA HORTON
Jessie Arila Horton, 85, of Mountainair passed away Aug. 5 at home with her loving family beside her.
Jessie was born June 20, 1920, in Eldorado, Ark., to Benford and Elise (Hill) Little. She married Ralph Horton on May 26, 1937, in Linden, Texas. They moved to Albuquerque and lived there 25 years before moving to Mountainair.
Jessie is survived by her children, Delores Crabb and husband Raymond of Sumner Lake, Richard Horton and wife Barbara, and Shirley Solomon and husband James, both from Ewing, N.M.; sisters, Elsie Little and Mollie Morgan of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jerry Crabb and wife Victoria of Sumner Lake, Torrance Norsworthy and wife Patricia of Portland, Ore., Bill Norsworthy and wife Kelly of Albuquerque, Newton Norsworthy of Edgewood, Ricky Crabb and wife Raylene of Moriarty, Patricia Sullivan of Hot Springs, Ark., Richard Horton Jr. of Edgewood, Spring Horton of Ewing, Lydia Merck and husband David of Ewing, Brian Crider and wife Judy of Estancia, Barbara Collins and husband James of Ewing, Cynthia Solomon of Estancia, and James Solomon and wife Hope of Ewing; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benford and Elsie Little; her husband, Ralph Horton; brothers JB, Raymond and Walter Little; and one great-great-granddaughter, Brandi Crider.
Jessie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
A memorial was held Saturday at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Mountainair.

RICHARD E. ARMIJO SR.
Richard E. Armijo Sr., 67, of Moriarty passed away Aug. 9 in Albuquerque.
Richard was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Encino to Carlos and Lucy (Chavez) Armijo. He married Eliria Maez in Cebolla on June 18, 1960. Richard was a successful business owner for more than 30 years and had worked for the city of Moriarty before retiring. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic. Richard took pride in raising his family and keeping them close to each other and stressed the importance of giving our lives to the Lord.
Richard is survived by his wife, Eliria; sons, Richard E. Armijo Jr. and wife Susie, Jerome Armijo and wife Marnie, and Carlos Armijo and wife Lisa; daughters, Helen (Karen) Alarid and husband Carl, and Carol Hernandez and husband Carlo, all of Moriarty; brothers, Herman Armijo and wife Mary Ann, and Jerry Armijo and wife Shirley, all of Wagon Wheel; sisters, Jane Lovato of Wagon Wheel, Daisy Maldonado and husband Hermino of Albuquerque, and Corrine Page and husband Arthur of Moriarty; brother-in-law Abel Lueras of Los Chavez; and grandchildren, Jerome Jr., Mel, Rickie, Jolynn, Emily, Carlynn, Charlie, Carlyse and one on the way.
His parents, Carlos and Lucy Armijo, and sister Sally Lueras preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held Aug. 11 at noon at the First Baptist Church in Moriarty with Pastor Jerry Dye officiating. Interment will follow at the Mountainview Cemetery in Moriarty.
