CAROL ANN SOLSRUD
Carol Ann Solsrud, 67, of Edgewood passed away Aug. 10, 2007.
Carol was born Dec. 24, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to Harold and Kathren (Stecker) Zech.
She touched the lives of many people, her extended family of the Arabian Horse Association of NM. Carol, just like the Arabian horse, had such grace and beauty. The family thanks Hospice of NM for the love, compassion and understanding.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Marvin; daughters, Wendy Solme and husband Joe of Albuquerque, Heidi Wooton of Edgewood, Holly Solsrud of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Mark, Mat, Brandace, Joey and Tyler; and her very best friend, Cheryl Sizemore and husband David.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her dog, Freckles.
A graveside funeral service was held Tuesday at Mountain Valley Cemetery in Edgewood with Pastor Ken Good officiating.

PAUL CAUSEY
Paul Causey, 56, loving husband, stepfather, son, brother and friend to many, passed away Aug. 7, 2007, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 30, 1951. Paul graduated from Del Norte High School in 1969 and joined the Navy shortly after graduation. Upon return from the military, Paul opened and ran a successful auto repair shop with his brother, retiring when he was 40. Paul loved the outdoors and spent his remaining years hunting, fishing and gardening. He will be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two stepchildren, Kim Lowe of Los Lunas and Brian Rascoe of Lubbock, Texas; his parents, Marvin and Tillie Causey; sister, Michele and husband Wes Goodson; sister, Pat and husband Marv Newton of Raton; brother, Floyd and wife Ginger of Trementina, N.M.; sister, Karen Bootzin and Gary Stevens; uncle, Charlie Mataya of Sacramento, Calif.; aunt, Betty Akard of Modesto, Calif.; Matt Lowe of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. In addition to family members, Paul leaves behind many friends, some of whom he has kept in touch with since junior high and high school.
In recognition of the outstanding care that Paul received at the Veterans Hospital, the family is asking for donations to be made to the New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health System (NMVAHS), Voluntary Services 135, 1501 San Pedro SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.

HAYDEN P. ABEL
Hayden P. Abel, 88, of Edgewood passed away Aug. 11, 2007, in Albuquerque at the Sierra Grande Manor Residential Shelter Care Home.
Hayden was born in Orange County, Ind., on Oct. 8, 1918. He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1962 and served as pastor of churches in Indiana, Idaho and California before retiring in 1980.
Hayden is survived by his daughter, Shirley Winkler and husband Harris of Edgewood; two grandsons, Gary Winkler of Aurora, Colo., and Kevin Winkler of Pheasant Hill, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Kerby and Charlotte Allen; and brother, Roy Able.
His wife, Mary Moffatt Abel, and son, Kenneth Paul Abel, preceded him in death.
Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton, Colo.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

JOHN K. DOUGHERTY
John K. Dougherty, 63, a former resident of Edgewood, passed away Aug. 13, 2007.
He was founder of Boy Scout Troop 640 in Edgewood.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lina; and children, Keith, Lori, Jennifer and Kevin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy, at age 103.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Evangel Christian Center, 4501 Montgomery NE in Albuquerque.

JACK KAPLAN
Jack (Rev. Mad Jack) Kaplan, 54, passed away Aug. 13, 2007.
Jack was born in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 17, 1952. He was respected around the world in the body modification community. He moved to the East Mountains in 1998 and taught classes at UNM Continuing Ed and performed freelance work as a computer technician and graphic artist. He was an active member of the East Mountain Chapter of ABATE.
Jack is survived by his best friend and life partner, Lori L. Belmonte; his son and daughter-in-law, Jacob I. and Kelly Chittick, as well as his two grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob S. Chittick, all of Sadorus, Ill.; one sister, Bonita Ross, and one niece, Schuyler Ross, of Northbrook, Ill.; and many wonderful friends and a loving extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Phyllis Kaplan of Chicago.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the East Mountains home of Mike and Leigh Baca. For directions, call 281-5147.

JESSIE LEON O'NEAL
Jessie Leon "Tex" O'Neal, 85, of Breckenridge, Texas, died Aug. 14, 2007, at his residence.
Jessie was born May 9, 1922, in Ashtola, Texas, to Charles Frank O'Neal and Delia Rubine Kimbrell O'Neal. He moved to Moriarty as a child and graduated from Moriarty High School in 1941. Jessie was a star athlete in high school and attended UCLA on a basketball scholarship. He married Bobbie June Brant on Oct. 12, 1946, in Canyon, Texas.
Jessie was a stunt double for Roy Rogers in several movies. He retired from General Tire & Rubber Co. in 1982 after 20 years. He enjoyed ranch work, hunting and fishing. In 1977 Jessie and Bobbie moved to Breckenridge. Jessie was a member of First Baptist Church.
Jessie is survived by his wife, Bobbie O'Neal of Breckenridge; two daughters, Pat Love of China Springs and Cathleen and husband Dan Brazile of Breckenridge; two brothers, Glen O'Neal and wife Donna of Davis, Okla., and Lewis O'Neal and wife Virginia of Moriarty; seven grandchildren, Clint Love of Allen, Elizabeth Brazile of Krum, Clay Love of Penelope, Jesse Brazile of Krum, Danielle Chisholm of Breckenridge, Tim Brazile of Krum, and Chris Brazile of Breckenridge; and four great-grandchildren, Dawn Love of China Springs, C.J. Love of Bosqueville, Tim Love of Bosqueville and Elijah Chisholm of Breckenridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Glen O'Neal officiating. Burial followed in the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the National Wildlife Federation.

JOYCE MAYRE THIESSEN
Joyce Mayre Thiessen (Hawkins), 88, passed away at her home on Aug. 6, 2007 after a long illness.
After being a resident of Estancia for many years, she moved in with her daughter, Vicky Wylie, when her health started failing.
Joyce was raised and attended school in Oklahoma. She married Isaac Thiessen on Aug. 7, 1940. He preceded her in death by 21 years.
Joyce is survived by three daughters, Shirley Massey, Cindy Wood and Vicky Wylie; and three sons, Richard Thiessen, Terry Thiessen and Michael Thiessen. She had 30 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 13 at French Mortuary Westside Chapel in Albuquerque.
