SALOME CHAVEZ
Salome Chavez, 79, of McIntosh passed away Aug. 23, 2007, at his home in McIntosh.
Salome was born March 25, 1928, in Socorro to Placido and Romanita (Montano) Chavez.
Salome is survived by his nephew, Robert Chavez Sr. and wife Rhonda; a great-nephew, Samuel Chavez, and dog Queene with whom he lived in their home; a nephew, Anthony Chavez Sr. and wife Felisa; five nieces, Rosie Espinosa and husband Leo, Angie Sandoval and husband Vence, Viola Astorga and husband Antelmo, Theresa Chacon and husband Perfecto, and Anita Armendarez and husband Jesus; 29 great-nephews and -nieces; 53 great-great-nephews and -nieces; and six great-great-great-nephews and -nieces.
Salome was preceded in death by his parents.
Arrangements for cremation entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, Moriarty.

MARY FRANCES CHAVEZ
Mary Frances Chavez, 90, of Wagon Wheel passed away Aug. 24, 2007, at her daughter's home in Albuquerque.
A longtime resident of Wagon Wheel, Mary was born April 30, 1917, to Antonio and Florencia Chavez in Elvenado, N.M. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her family she was a longtime waitress who had worked for the Longhorn restaurant, Blackie's restaurant and Clines Corners restaurant. She loved sewing, making quilts and embroidering cows. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Chavez; her parents; brothers and sisters, Raymond, Frank, Juan, Cayetano, Enriques, Abel, Antonio Eloisa, all Chavez, and Mary Bachicha; her children, Gloria Gibson and son-in-law Angus Gibson, and children Juanita, David, and Sony; and granddaughter Darline Gibson and companion Victor Bazaldua.
Mary is survived by her son, Richard Chavez and wife Gloria of Wagon Wheel; her daughter, Grace Chavez and husband George Hern of Albuquerque; brothers, Toby and Jack Chavez of Moriarty; sister, Margaret Chavez of Moriarty; sisters-in-law, Mary Chavez of Portales and Celeste Chavez of Moriarty; brother-in-law, Joe Bachicha of Roswell; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic with the Rev. Young officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty.

ALICE EULALIA SETH
Alice Eulalia Seth, 86, a longtime resident of Moriarty, passed away Aug. 25, 2007, in Albuquerque.
Alice was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Alonzo and Zella Bates. She moved to Moriarty in 1972 and was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church in Moriarty. Alice will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
Alice is survived by her sons, Lonnie and wife Carmen Stefan of Moriarty, Jessie and wife Nancy Johnson of Marietta, Ga., Jimmy and wife Diane Johnson of Arvada, Colo., Jeri and wife Judie Johnson of Snoqualmie, Wash.; daughter, Sue Ann and husband Arthur Maynard of Los Lunas; sister, Sue Shann of Fort Sumner; brother-in-law, Luke Bergman of Capitan, N.M.,; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Seth; sons, Donnie Franklin, Johnny and Jay Dee Johnson; sister, Durell Bergman; and Alice's companion of 15 years, Hubert (Jack) Caraway.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, after which Alice was transported to the Fort Sumner Cemetery for a committal service and laid to rest next to her son, Jay Dee Johnson. Pastor Gary Eggart of the United Methodist Church of Estancia officiated in Moriarty and Minister Lorenzo Delgado officiated in Fort Sumner at the cemetery.

IDA PEARL COZZEN
Ida Pearl Cozzen, 87, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away Aug. 29, 2007, in Anchorage.
Ida was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Decatur, Ark., to Oscar C. and Docia (Swindell) Haught.
Ida is survived by her sons, Jerry and wife Marjorie Cozzen of Anchorage, Frank and wife Nancy Cozzen of Eagle River, Alaska; daughter, Sharon Winchell of Anchorage; sister, Edna White of Sweetwater, Texas; sister-in-law, Betty Haught of Hamlin, Texas; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Encino Cemetery in Encino, N.M., with Bob McLaughlin officiating.

WILLIAM EVERT BRADFUTE
William Evert Bradfute, 61, passed away at home Sept. 1, 2007, after a brave battle with cancer.
William was born to Richard Washington and Lovilla (Winn) Bradfute on Nov. 24, 1945, in Albuquerque. He had resided in the Moriarty area all of his life. William graduated from Moriarty High School in 1963. On Sept. 2, 1966, he married Judith McGee. To this union three children were born, Cherol Rox-Zann, Billie Kathleen and John David. On June 11, 1990, Bill married Janette Hein. To that union one son, Jason Evert, was born.
Bill was a mechanic and farmer most of his life. He was a loving father, grandpa and great-grandpa. Bill was a Christian and loved the Lord; he raised all of his children to love the lord.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Richard and wife Zorita Bradfute of Portales; wife, Janette of the home; son, Jason, also of the home; daughter, Cherol and husband Kenny Autry of Tatum, N.M.; daughter, Billie and husband Wesley Dennison of McIntosh; son, John and wife Karen of Olton, Texas; stepchildren, Heidi Williams, Tammy Hein, Chuck Hein, all of Edgewood; grandchildren, Lucas and Lovilla Buchanan of Tatum, Sharlotte Dennisson, Naomi Dennisson, Billie Jo Bradfute, Mary and Charles Dennisson of McIntosh, Chelsi, Austin and Shelton Bradfute of Olton, Texas; Tasha, Nona, Zuri and Roy Williams of Edgewood, Danielle Zach and Matias Garcia; and three nephews, Richard Bradfute and wife Christie of Portales and children Taylor and Tate, David Bradfute of Roswell, and Steven Bradfute and wife Jennifer of New Market, Md.
Services were held Wednesday at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty. Interment was at the McIntosh Cemetery with Pastor John Bubbico officiating.
As per Bill's wishes, the family requests donations to the University of New Mexico Children's Cancer Center instead of flowers.

IVY GATES
Ivy Gates, 97, passed away at her daughter's home on Aug. 22, 2007.
Ivy was born in DeLeon, Texas, on March 15, 1910, to H.E. and Susie Sides. She lived there with her family until 1925, when they moved to Estancia. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Marion Gates, known to her as "Monte," and she was known to him as "Jo Boy." They celebrated 62 years together before Marion's death in 1993.
She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse for two years prior to her marriage.
Ivy's life has always been filled with music. One of the requirements for Marion before he chose his mate for life— that she could play the piano. Much of their courting days were spent playing and singing together. She and her husband served the Lord with their gift of music for 38 years in their church in New Mexico before moving to Nevada.
Marion and Ivy moved to Moab, Utah, to be near their daughter, Fran Townsend, in 1981. Miss Ivy's music talents were used in many areas of the community, including the Senior Citizens Band for many years, prior to failing health. She also used her musical talents at the First Baptist Church in Moab and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving Utah Grand Chapter as Grand Organist in 1994-1995. She is a member of Bethany Chapter #9 located in Green River, Utah.
Ivy was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings; husband, Marion; sons, Charles A. Gates and Ronald Merrill Gates; and her daughter, Faye Townsend.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ray and Fran Townsend of Moab; son-in-law, Buster Townsend of Moab; her grandchildren, Saundra Souza, Debbie Crager, Becky Day, Bobbi Jo Patterson, Diana Hudson and Valerie Mosher; 10 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 4 at First Baptist Church under the direction of Kimmerle Funeral Home. In recognition of the years of Ivy's service to the Senior Citizen Band, memorial contributions may be made on her behalf to the Grand County Senior Center, Special Projects Fund, c/o Fran Townsend, P.O. Box 451, Moab, UT 84532.
