GLADYS ELAINE MATTHIES
Gladys Elaine "Kitty" Matthies passed away Sept. 4, 2007.
She was born July 6, 1923, to Ruth Iona (Hanson) and Melvin Arthur Kvevlie (Navy— WWI) in Chicago, Ill.
She leaves behind her five children, Jon Matthies and wife Terri, Kris Matthies, Pat Guthrie and husband Tim, Holly Richard, and Trudy Candelaria and husband JR; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Howard Gibbon and wife Jeannette, Richard Mrugacz and wife Marie, Earl Matthies and wife Camille; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, her husband, "Sweet William" Matthies (Navy— WWII).
Kitty worked for years in accounting and then started K&B Trucking Company with her husband Bill, while raising their five children. They moved to New Mexico in 1975 after coming to Albuquerque to visit their childhood friends, Harold and Shirley Warner.
Kitty taught Sunday school classes and vacation Bible shool and for many years led Friendship Bible Coffees. She was active for years in the Mountain Garden Club, Sandia Seniors, Hope Church Keenagers, Mobile Mixers at 4-Hills Mobile Home Park, DAVA and Lions Club. Kitty was known for her wit, love of words and as a great prayer warrior for her family and friends.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, flower gardening, family, friends and chocolate! Kitty "fought the good fight" and has victoriously joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at Mountain Christian Church, 12242 N.M. 14 in Cedar Crest, at 11 a.m. on Oct. 13. A visitation time for family and friends will follow. Mrs. Matthies will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials be sent to The Billy Graham Evang. Assoc., P.O. Box 1270, Charlotte, NC 28201; Ambercare Hospice, 2129 Osuna Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113; or The American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023.

EDITH ALEEN MATHEWS
Edith Aleen Mathews passed away at home in Morgan's Point, Texas, on Sept. 4, 2007 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 10, 1939, to Ned E.K. Brown and Evelyn Brown of Moffat, Texas.
She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Brown of Belton; sister, Jewell Isaacks of Belton, Texas; sister, Frances Drake of Belton; brothers Leon E.K. and Derrall Brown of Belton; her husband, Guy Mathews of Morgan's Point; daughter, Joyce Kretz and son-in-law Kerry Kretz of Las Vegas, N.M.; granddaughter, Jessica Kretz of Santa Fe; grandson, Lyle Kretz of Las Vegas, N.M.; and innumerable other family, "adopted family" and friends.
A memorial celebration will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the old Assembly of God campground at the west end of Mountainair. Contact Jack Mathews at 847-0327 if you have questions.

CHLOE KUHNLEY
Chloe Kuhnley, 90, passed away Sept. 15, 2007, in the hospice unit at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
She was born in Tulia, Texas, on April 27, 1917, to R.A. and Maude Freeman. She and her husband, Paul, owned a farm in Moriarty for 50 years before moving to Lubbock nine years ago.
Chloe was a member of Sunset Church of Christ. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a wonderful Christian who will be missed by her loved ones and friends.
Chloe is survived by her husband of 69 years, Paul; daughter, Jennean Hise of Lubbock; son, Danny and wife Vickie of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son, Tilden and wife Sheryle of Albuquerque; two sisters, Mattie Hobbs of Reserve, N.M., and Mildren Childress of Tulia; brother, Mack Freeman of Henderson, Nev.; sister-in-law, Erma Jones of Laguna Hills, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bobby Hise; daughter-in-law, Donna Sue Kuhnley; sister, Lillie Mae Vaughn; and brother, J.D. Freeman.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Sunset Church of Christ Chapel with Nat Cooper officiating, assisted by Jay Jarboe. Interment followed at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Family requests that memorials be made to the Lubbock Children's Home.

SERAFIN GONZALES SR.
Serafin Gonzales Sr., 90, of Albuquerque passed away Sept. 17, 2007 in Albuquerque.
He was born in La Ghuapa, N.M., to Eutimio and Margarita Gonzales on Dec. 28, 1916.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ciria Gonzales; his children, Feda Chavarirra and husband Carlos of Albuquerque, Gennie Aragon and Gilbert of Albuquerque, Helen Aragon of Albuquerque, Mary and husband Walter of Albuquerque, Larry Gonzales and Mary of La Madera, Gloria Vella and husband Lou of Nebraska, Tina and husband Greg of Rio Rancho, Tony and wife Dina of Albuquerque, Connie and husband Juan of Tucumcari, Servie Jr. and wife Geri of La Madera and Paul Gonzales of La Madera; his brother, Juan Gonzales of La Ghuapa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; and his special friends Mark De Frate and his "Primo."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eutimio and Margarita Gonzales of La Ghuapa; son, Juanito Gonzales; and brothers and sisters.
Serafin grew up in La Ghuapa and La Madera. Serafin and Ciria raised their children in Albuquerque and on the ranch in La Ghuapa. He was a hard worker on the ranch, he also held a job as a dump truck owner/operator. Serafin was a very loving father to his children, and he renewed his vows to his wife for their 50th and 65th wedding anniversaries. He devoted his whole life to his wife and children and their families.
In La Madera area there was never a stranger that he would not stop to help. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed very much by his family and friends.
A celebration of Mass will be held today at 10 a.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras with Father Mark Granito officiating. Interment will follow at La Madera Cemetery in La Madera.

GAIL ANN KRANTZ
Gail Ann Krantz, 67, a resident of Sandia Park since 1974, died Sept. 13, 2007 after a nine-month battle with cancer.
Gail's first priority was always her children and family who will miss her greatly. She loved nature, enjoyed reading, gardening and visiting with friends, was an enthusiastic bird lover and was dedicated to her work delivering mail out of Tijeras for 19 years.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ross Krantz; her children, Valerie Burge and husband John of Albuquerque, Stefanie Krantz of San Francisco, Calif., Dale Krantz and wife Shauna, and Kimberly Grommes and husband Matt of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Breauna, Allison and Samuel; brothers, Charles Butler and wife Wanda, and Steve Butler and wife Marion.
Mrs. Krantz was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elda Nadler Butler of Warrenton, Mo.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services were held Sept. 19 at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
Memorial contributions may be made to Avian Ambassadors, 498 Juan Tomas Road, Tijeras, NM 87059.

JAMES ROBERT STOVER JR.
James Robert Stover Jr., 51, passed away Sept. 15, 2007.
He was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Moab, Utah.
James graduated from Grants High and ITT Tech in Phoenix. He worked as a master mechanic in the nuclear industry in Utah and New Mexico. For numerous years he managed Rio Puerco Chevron and was previously employed with King Brothers Ranch as a mechanic. He tinkered with just about everything from an early age and had a passion for rebuilding classic cars, dune buggies, hover crafts, anything motorized. His latest passion was building mow-glides. He was an avid fisherman, even built his own canoe. From an early age he hunted and currently he was a scout for friends.
James was a kind-hearted person who knew a lot about everything. He was a great friend, lover, teacher, son, brother, uncle, grandpa and father. A loving man.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; daughters, Jenni Stover and Jonni Stover of Colorado, and Jessieray and Neil Ortega of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Anastasia and Lillie Love of Colorado; his mother, Dorothy Stover of Albuquerque; sisters, Janet Stover of Los Lunas, Penny and Steve Miller of Oklahoma, Carolyn and Kenny Fitzsimmons of Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom adored their uncle; and family and friends from near and far.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Sr.; brother, Wesley Jay; nephew, Michael Jay; and his grandparents.
Memorial services were held Sept. 20 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Albuquerque.
