Benjamin Aristeo Chavez
Visitation for Benjamin Aristeo Chavez, 66, of San Patricio will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the Fountain of Living Water Chruch at San Patricio. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
The funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Fountain of Living Water Church, with burial to follow at the Hondo Cemetery. The Revs. Arturo Galvan and Eliseo Castillo will officiate.
Mr. Chavez died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, in Lubbock.
He was born March 26, 1938, at San Patricio and lived all of his life in Lincoln County, except when he was in California from 1963 until 1974.
With his wife, he co-founded the Fountain of Living Water Church in 1974 and has served as the pastor since that time. A 1958 graduate of Hondo High School, he was owner-operator of Ole Taco in Ruidoso.
He married Luz Elva Mendoza on Dec. 31, 1959, in Alamogordo.
Survivors include his wife, of San Patricio; son Angel Chavez of San Patricio; brothers Israel Chavez of Mission Vejo, Calif., Raynard and Felix Chavez, both of Ruidoso, and Arturo, Monroy and Ruben Chavez of San Patricio; sisters Lydia Rue and Lillian Lopez of San Patricio, Maria Salas, Teresa Chavez and Adelina Payne of Ruidoso, and Dolores Carrillo of Tularosa; four grandchildren and one-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Roseanna Chavez, in 1992.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

Eustacio H. Chavez
Visitation for Eustacio H. Chavez, 75, of Ruidoso will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Capitan, where the prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, with burial to follow at the Capitan Cemetery. The Rev. Dave Bergs will officiate.
Mr. Chavez died Wednesday, Nov. 10, in Ruidoso.
He was born Dec. 31, 1928, at Capitan and lived in Lincoln County all of his life. He worked at the Ruidoso Care Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Crusita Delgado of Silver City and Yolanda McCarty of Capitan; his mother, Anita Chavez of Capitan; a sister, Helen Richardson of Socorro; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

Joe M. Garcia
A funeral service for Joe M. “Byrd” Garcia, 53, of Alamogordo, was held Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Rick Schulze officiated. Interment followed in Monte Vista Ceremony.
Mr. Garcia died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, in Alamogordo.
He was born Jan. 1, 1951, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Alamogordo. He attended Alamogordo High School and graduated from Granite Computer Institute.
He was the owner of Byrd’s Skate Shop from 1982 to 1998. He also worked at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Travel Center as a surveillance agent and administrative assistant.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Louanne Garcia; son Jeremy Garcia (and his wife, Dacia) and daughter, Larissa Garcia, both of Alamogordo; granddaughter Abrianna Garcia of Alamogordo; father Guadalupe Garcia Sr. (and his wife Lydia) of Alamogordo; sisters Christine Armenta (and husband Adolpho) and Marianne Garcia (and her husband Elias), both of Corpus Christi, Gracie Garcia of Alamogordo and Carrie Majors (and her husband Jeff) of Austin, Texas; brothers Guadalupe Garcia Jr. (and his wife Lola) and Gilbert Garcia, both of Alamogordo, David Garcia (and his wife Ana) and Romeo Botello, both of Corpus Christi, as well as Albert Botello and Gilbert Botello, both of Robstown, Texas; father-in-law Roy Overton of Orogrande; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his mother, Carolina Botello, brother Robert and mother-in-law Dorothy Olinger.
Pallbearers for Wednesday’s ceremony were Guadalupe Garcia Jr., Gilbert Garcia, Ricardo Chavez, Josh Szwaczkowski, Daniel Szwaczkowski, Richard Martinez, Sonny Hansen and Hal Walker. Frank Sayger, Blair Amstutz and David Garcia were honorary pallbearers.

Clarence Eugene Troeger
Visitation for Clarence Eugene Troeger, 90, of Ruidoso is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Ft. Stanton Cemetery; the Rev. Kevin Krohn will officiate.
Mr. Troeger died Wednesday, Nov. 10, in Ruidoso.
He was born April 18, 1914, in Beverly, Kan., and served in the Army during World War II. He retired from the Post Office in Santa Monica, Calif., as a supervisor in 1973. He moved to Ruidoso in 1989 from Los Angeles, Calif.
He married Anna Lois Jefcoat on Aug. 28, 1914, in Jackson, Miss.
Survivors include his wife of Ruidoso; children Janis Troeger of San Jose, Calif., Kirk Troeger of Santa Maria, Calif., Karl Troeger of Ruidoso, Jeffrey Troeger and John Troeger of Palmdale, Calif., Paul Troeger of Los Angeles and Carla Cross of Sylmar, Calif.; brothers Alvin Troeger of Lincoln, Kan., and Norman Troeger of Beverly, Kan.; 12 grandchildren and three great granddaughters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

Bill Crowley
A memorial service for Bill Crowley, 73, of Ruidoso will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Elks Lodge. Crowley died June 19, 2005.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1931. Surviving family members include his wife Bev, two sons Mike and John, and six grandchildren.

Flora E. Buchanan
Flora “Flo” E. Buchanan, 76, of Ruidoso died April 20, 2005, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell. No services are scheduled at this time.
Mrs. Buchanan was born September 15, 1928, in Foster, Okla., to William and Luella Hatfield. They have preceded her in death as has as her husband, William Buchanan, an infant child, Forest Edward Young, and two brothers, Leslie and Dale Hatfield.
Surviving family members include two sons, Alan “Sonny” Young and Stephen Young both of Ruidoso; three daughters, Janice Bergeron of Ruidoso, Mona Richardson and her husband, Granville of Golden, Colo., and Pat Canfield and her husband Craig of Los Alamos, N.M.; two brothers, Delmo Hatfield and his wife Neva of Odessa, Texas, and John Hatfield of Snyder, Texas; sister Genetha Payne and her husband Robert of Snyder, Texas; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Buchanan had resided in Ruidoso for 33 years and was a homemaker.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Roswell.

Herschell McClurg
Funeral services for Herschell Woodrow “Woody” McClurg, 88, of Midland, Texas, were held April 16 in Midland with interment at Fairview Cemetery. McClurg died April 14.
He was born in Greenville, Texas, July 26, 1916, to Charles Willard and Emma Gidden McClurg. He was raised in Greenville and moved to Midland while still in high school, where he lived with the Midkiff family. He graduated from Midland High School in 1935 and married Bonnie Lou Weaver on October 2, 1937, in Rockwall, Texas.
McClurg worked in Midland and in Corpus Christi, Texas, before entering the Army in 1944. He completed basic training at Camp Fannin, Texas. After an honorable discharge in 1945 he moved to Odessa, Texas, and in 1947 opened the Mc Clurg Grocery and Market, which he operated for 23 years and which later became the McClurg Food Store on West Country Road. Later. He ranched in Llano, Texas. He purchased Odessa Beef, which he operated for four years.
He then became a salesman for Snap-On Tools and worked in the Permian Basin for four years. He founded McClurg Auto Parts in Snyder, Texas, with his son Tooter, and McClurg retired in 1990 to return to Midland. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was an early president of the Permian Bass Club in Odessa. He loved the horse races in Ruidoso and was a member of the Ruidoso Jockey club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters. Surviving family members include his wife Bonnie; his sons Donald L. McClurg and wife JoAnne of Midland, and Charles “Tooter” McClurg and wife Patti of Snyder; and his grandchildren Lee Ann, Bill, Carl and Cody and one great-grandson, Cole; two sisters, Leta Mc Clurg McGuire and Dorothy McClurg Morris, both of Dallas.

Susan Dolgener
A memorial service for Susan Michael Dolgener, 61, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church, 1211 Hull Road, Ruidoso. The Rev. Tim Gilliland will officiate. There will be no viewing. Her ashes will be placed in the First Christian Church Memorial Prayer Garden at a later date by close friends and family. A 32-year resident of Ruidoso, Mrs. Dolgener died Friday, April 15, 2005, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 30,1943, in Brownsville, Texas, to Eugenia Judlin DuBose and the late Ralph W. DuBose. On March 9,1963, she was united in marriage to Bobby Dan Dolgener in Denton, Texas. She graduated from North Texas State University in 1965. She taught speech and English for five years at Bowie Junior
High and Ector Junior High School in Odessa, Texas.
In January, 1973, the Dolgeners moved to Ruidoso, where they bought and managed Canyon Cabins in Ruidoso’s Upper Canyon. After selling the cabins, they established Eagle Creek Construc-tion in Ruidoso. Following 15 years as a stay-at-home Mom, Mrs. Dolgener was hired by Ruidoso Schools, where she served as a much-loved teacher for the Gifted and Talented Program for several years. She substitute taught after her retirement and traveled every chance she got.
Sue was a member of First Christian Church of Ruidoso, where she and Bob attended more than 15 years and raised their two daughters. She had immense love for her family and friends, all animals, the beauty of New Mexico and the rest of the world, for which her suitcase was packed at all times. Her brilliant laughter inspired us, and she adored her grandchildren most of all.
She was preceded in death by her father, her nephew Zack DuBose, and her brother Robert DuBose in 2004.
Surviving family members include her husband, Bob, their daughter, Stacy Dane Barnett and husband Joe of Wolfforth, Texas; daughter, Julie Anne Vest and husband Jeffrey of League City, Texas; three grandchildren, Mallory and Adam Barnett and Zachary Vest; her mother, Eugenia DuBose, and her sister, Ann DuBose of New Braunfels, Texas; four nieces, two nephews, and many other relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Prayer Garden of First Christian Church, or Ruidoso Home Care and Hospice, P0 Box 2019, Ruidoso, New Mexico. The family thanks staff of Ruidoso Home Care and Hospice for their help and support during her last week at home.

Joshua Aaron Valdez
Prayer service for Joshua Aaron Valdez, 19, of Mescalero will be today at 6 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Mission, where the funeral Mass will be on Sat., April 23, at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at the Valdez Cemetery. Valdez died Monday, April 28, at Mescalero.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1985, in Mescalero, where he lived all his life. He was a student and attended St. Joseph’s Mission.
Surviving family members include his father, Jerry Valdez; his mother, Linda Dee; brothers, Jerry Valdez, Jr., and Royce Vigil; sisters, Mildred Valdez, Princess Little Fawn Valdez, Cheri Valdez Vigil, Jera Valdez and Amber Dee; grandmothers, Zola Ahidley, Mary Naiche, Bunch Pellman, Leah Hosetosavit, Agnes Platero, Eva Ann Geronimo and Iris Geronimo; grandfathers, Robert Geronimo, Larry Geronimo, Leon Botello, Sr., Teddy Rodriguez and Nelson Platero; aunts, Daisy Valdez, Esther Scott, Francine Valdez, Patrice Enjady, Beverly Kirgan, Iva Enjady, Ada Palmer, Dorene Fernando and Kathy Skin; uncles, Larry Valdez, Leland Valdez, Snyder Geronimo, Leland Pellman and Ronald Jose.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

Russell Lee Beckley
A memorial service for Russell L. Beckley, 67, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the Community Church in Lincoln with Reverend Bill Jones officiating. A memorial service in Alamogordo will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the Sears Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel, 2301 First St., with Reverend Dr. Lowell Swisher officiating. Mr. Beckley died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Roswell.
He was born March 5, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., to Louis and Anna Pearl Beckley. Mr. Beckley served in the U.S. Army and was also a deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department for several years.
Surviving family members include his wife Barbara Beckley of Lincoln; a daughter Pamela Seals, of Lincoln; sons, Frank A. Beckley of Alamogordo and William G. Beckley of Barstow, Calif.; three brothers, Donald Beckley and wife Rosie, Louis W. Beckley, Jr. and Paul W. Beckley and wife Janet; two sisters, Shirley White and husband Bob, and Mary Weaver, all of Illinois. Survivors also include his grandchildren – Russell, Rebecca, Tiffany, Nicholas, Alex, Zachary, Stephanie, Deanna – and assorted great grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Sears Alamogordo Funeral Home.

Everett Dollar
Everett Dollar, 75, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Grace House of Lubbock in Lubbock, Texas. His cremated remains will be interred with his sons in Zybach Cemetery at Allison, Texas, at a later date.
Mr. Dollar was born Feb. 21, 1930, at Erick, Okla. He married Billie McDaniel May 28, 1952, in Pampa, Texas.
Mr. Dollar was a basketball and track coach in several schools before he became Superintendent at Allison I.S.D. in Allison, Texas, in 1965. He served there until 1976, at which time he became Superintendent at the Bledsoe I.S.D. in Bledsoe, Texas, where he served 10 years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Dollar was a member of many educational associations, too numerous to mention. He and Billie moved to Ruidoso in June 1986.
He was a member of the Ruidoso Masonic Lodge as well as a member and Master Mason of the Wheeler Masonic Lodge in Wheeler, Texas.
Mr. Dollar was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Dollar and his sons Doug and Steve.
Surviving family members include his wife Billie of Ruidoso; three sisters, Opal McAlexander, of Willow, Okla., June Hogg of Granite, Okla., and Betty Ellis of Oklahoma City, Okla.
The family suggests memorials be made to your favorite charity.
