Eston Presley Fulsom
Funeral service for Eston Presley Fulsom Sr., 64, of Mescalero will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Mescalero Reformed Church with burial to follow at the Fulsom Family Cemetery.
Fulsom died Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Mescalero.
He was born May 11, 1941, at Bently, Okla., to Minerva and Thomas Fulsom, who both preceded him in death. He had lived on the Mescalero Apache Reservation for more than 50 years. He served in the National Guard, worked as a BIA Police Officer, conservation officer, MAT HUD housing, and a truck driver for construction. He married Marjorie Comanche in 1959.
Surviving family members include his wife of 46 years, Marjorie; one son, Eston Fulsom Jr.; four daughters, Toni Joe Duffy, Dana LaPaz, Minerva Gwen Fulsom, and Cindy Randall; one sister, Rosie Bates; one brother, Wayne Fulsom; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Joe Fulsom.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

Chester P. Ross
Chester P. Ross, 84, of Amarillo and formerly of Alto died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, of Alzheimer Disease.
Ross was retired from the Chicago Rock Island Railroad as an engineer for 32 years and lived at Alto from 1980 - 1997.
He was born Nov. 4, 1920, to Herbert and Louise Ross. He is survived by one brother, Marion Ross of Bartlesville, Okla.; one daughter, Patricia Ross of Palm Desert, Calif.; one grandson, David Sepkowitz of Alto; two great grandchildren, Ashleigh and Brian Sepkowitz of Alto; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Brown Ross and a daughter, Sally Ross Sepkowitz.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held at the gravesite at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. The family suggests memorials to the Amarillo Alzheimer Association or Odessey Hospice Healthcare.

Pam Hunt
A memorial service for Pam Hunt, 48, was held Oct. 12 at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Hobbs with Dean Mathis officiating. Hunt died Oct. 9, 2005.
Pampa Dalene Hunt was born Sept. 20, 1957, in Abilene, Texas. She married Warren Dale Hunt on Aug. 7, 1976, in Jal. She worked for Texaco for 22 years and faithfully served in the church all her life. She ministered to youth and taught Sunday school for 25 years at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
She obtained a B.A. from the College of the Southwest in 2002 and she earned her MBA from Eastern New Mexico University in 2003.
She lived life to the fullest according to Jesus’ promise and walked with and loved God all the days of her life.
Surviving family members include her husband, Warren Dale Hunt of Hobbs; her father Marlin Otis Alston of Ruidoso; her mother, Darlene Brooks Honea of Abilene, Texas; a brother, Timothy Van Alston of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Becky Eugenia Bettis of Justin, Texas, Anita Gwen Musgrove of Poth, Texas, and Angel Gay McCormick of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Aaron Scott Hunt of Canyon, Texas, and Alex Jeffrey Hunt of Colorado Spring, Colo.; a daughter, Amber DeNae Hunt of San Marco, Texas; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Ray Boggus; a stepfather, Dale Eugene Boggus; a grandmother, Jimmie Livingston; a grandfather, G.B. Mayfield; and a nephew, Brian Bettis.

Iris Ellen McGaugh
Iris Ellen McGaugh passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 25, 2006. Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at University Christian Church. Burial will be at the private family committal at Greenwood Memorial Park. Iris was born on Oct. 22, 1929, the first child and only daughter of W.A. and Ethel Cure of Sudan, Texas. Iris spent her childhood years in Roby, Texas. Later, she and her family moved to Bowie, Texas, where she graduated from Bowie High School.

Robert McCarty
Robert McCarty, who passed away in a tragic accident Jan. 29, is survived by his wife, son, one grandchild and a soon to be born, second grandchild.
He was a six-year valued employee with at the Lincoln County Solid Waste Authority, and friend to all.
He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, co-workers.
Donations can be made in Mr. McCarty's memory at an State National Bank in New Mexico and Texas to the "McCarty Family Fund."

Audra L. Wright
Visitation for Audra L. Wright, 65, of Angus was Feb. 5, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso. Funeral services were Feb. 6 at the Angus Church of the Nazarene. Burial followed at the Angus Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Rick Hutchison. Mrs. Wright passed

Christina Sollento Lawrence
November 12, 1943 - July 14, 2006
Christina was loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very involved with Boy and Girl Scouts. She attended the Episcopal Church of the Holy Mount.
She married George Lawrence on October 13, 1968.

Virgilynn Renee Chee
May 5, 1963 - July 20, 2006
She worked at the Inn of the Mountain Gods and Ski Apache and attended the Mescalero Reformed Church

Rita Mae Chino
Rita Mae Chino was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., and left this world peacefully on Jan. 31, 2007, in Albuquerque. Rita grew up in Detroit and also lived for many years in Mescalero and most recently in Albuquerque.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Wendell Sam Chino, of Mescalero, the love of her life. She is survived by her three children; Marina Claycomb of Cortez, Colo.; Marie-Elena "Laney" Kidd of Albuquerque; and Michael Cortez of Hot Springs, Ark.; her brother John and her sister Maxine; and extended family.
Rita loved to dance, knew, and could sing, a song about any topic, was more than generous to those close to her, and passionate about her projects and causes.
She was a successful homemaker, seamstress, and businesswoman.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Rita's favorite caregivers, Michelle and Adrianna.

Michael R. Caldwell
Michael R. Caldwell, 61, died Feb. 1, 2007, at the University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque. He lived in Ruidoso and was transported to Albuquerque after suffering a stroke. Mike was born in Kansas City, Mo.. He attended the University of
After completing law school, Mike lived in St. Louis, where he worked for Price Waterhouse. He then moved to Dallas where he was an in-house counsel for the Trammel Crow Company. He and his wife, Constance Virginia "Ginger" Greene Caldwell, left Dallas and moved to Ginger's hometown of Memphis, Texas. In 1981, Mike and Ginger moved to Muleshoe, Texas, where Mike maintained an active legal practice. After Ginger's death in 2000, Mike retired to their mountain home in Ruidoso.
In his retirement, Mike was an avid world traveler, a voracious reader who loved to tell stories, a regular swimmer and tennis player and a yoga practitioner.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Kelli; his life partner, Verna Adams; and his parents, Robert and Jeanne Caldwell of Tucson, Ariz. He is also survived by three brothers and preceded in death by two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ruidoso Home Care and Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 2019, 548 Gavilan Canyon Road, Ruidoso, NM 88355.
A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, Ruidoso at 11:30 a.m., Feb. 10, 2007.

Archer Killough Wilson
Archer Killough Wilson, Jr. died on Jan. 29, 2007, in Littleton, Colo, following a stroke. Born Nov. 18, 1918, in Victoria, Texas, Archer was the seventh of nine children born to Archer and Josephine Wilson. He graduated Stephen F. Austin High School in
He married Florence Davis in 1942. Settling in Austin, Texas, following the war, they raised five children. In 1974, he and Florence relocated to Ruidoso where they owned and operated the Roadrunner Gift Shop and he was an active Rotarian. Following retirement and sale of the shop, Archer and Florence returned to Austin to be near family but spent summers as seasonal managers of the Apgar Village Inn in Glacier National Park. They later relocated to Whitefish, Mont. In 2003, following Florence's death, Archer moved to Littleton to be near his daughter.
Archer is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandsons: David Archer (Betsy) of Portland, Ore.; James Stewart (Amy) of Austin, Texas; Peggy (Jim) Cannon of Denver; and John Charles (Margie) of Whitefish, Mont. He was preceded in death by a son, George Francis.
He is also survived by two sisters. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Ruidoso. In lieu of flowers, he has specified that tax-free donations be made to the Genetics Foundation Memorial Fund, The University of Texas at Austin, 1 University Station - G2500, Austin, TX 78712, in honor of Florence's many years at the University as a research scientist.

Charley Gallegos
Charley Gallegos, 45, resident of Deming and Columbus Elementary School teacher, passed away at his home Saturday, Dec. 23.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Rita's. Concluding services and interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery. Fr. Franklin Eichhorst, OFM, will officiate.
Gallegos was born March 30, 1961 in Carrizozo to Carlos Gallegos and Nellie Padilla. He graduated from Carrizozo High School and received Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degrees in bilingual education at New Mexico State University. He taught in the Hatch School District before joining Deming Public Schools four years ago to teach at Columbus Elementary. He was a communicant of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Johnny Gallegos, Roswell and Ruben Gallegos, Albuquerque; two sisters, his twin, Charlotte Rowin, Las Cruces and Berline Gallegos, Carrizozo; special friend, Roberta Holguin, Silver City and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Nellie in 2001 and father Carlos in 2003 as well brother Andrew Gallegos in 1993.
Serving as pallbearers will be Albert, Willie and Frank Gallegos, Jr., Ernest Melendrez, Fernando Padilla and Paul Morales.

Lois Fort
Lois Fern "Sally" Fort of Lovington, NM, passed away in her home Sept. 20, 2006, and was buried in Lovington Cemetery Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006. Services were held at First United Methodist Church.
Lois was born in Terrell, Texas, Aug. 27, 1925. She was married to Steve Carter in 1941 until his passing in 1973 and later to Melvin Fort who preceded her in death in 2002. She also was preceded in death by her parents Howard F. and Minnie Stiefer and seven siblings. Surviving members of her family are: son, Steve Carter of Lake Dallas, Texas; Daughters Janie and her husband Charlie Mann of Hobbs, NM; Lynn Carter of Ruidoso and her fiancée Bruce Morgan of Athens, Texas; sister Frances Clark of Dallas, Texas, and one granddaughter, Stephanie and husband Wade Scott of Athens, Texas.
Sally was a Maljamar resident for many years and started the 100 Mile Walking Club in Maljamar. She was a member of the Lady Lions and she taught Sunday school at the Baptist Church while living there. She moved to Lovington in 1982 and joined First United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Emmaus Community, the Cracked Pots Bible Study Group, member of the National Walking Club, having walked in the 26.2 mile Walkathon in Washington State at age 65. She also received national recognition for having walked 5,000 miles in 4 years. She was a cancer survivor and supported the Relay for Life and American Cancer Society. She was the "Queen" of the Fort Fishing Club, a hard worker and loved by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, First United Methodist Church, or Hospice.

Michael Shaffer
Prayer service for Michael Monroe Shaffer, 36, of Mescalero will be Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at his home on Shaffer Road, the funeral mass will be Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Mission at Mescalero with burial to follow at the Little Family Cemetery.
Mr. Shaffer passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, at his home. He was born April 24, 1970 at Alamogordo and had lived at Mescalero most of his life. He attended St. Joseph's Mission.
He is survived by his parents, Larry and Rita Shaffer of Mescalero; a brother, Larry Shaffer Jr. of Mescalero; a sister, Gwen Shaffer of Mescalero; 4 nieces and a nephew, Alieh Shaffer, Lawrence Shaffer, Alina Shaffer, and Rita Baca; two great nieces, Shanaya Lester and Storm Lester. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Shaffer.
