Clarence 'Ed' White, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died on Saturday, July 13, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. White of the family home; daughter, Ilene Jayne; son, Jim White and wife, Rita, all of Albuquerque; three granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters. Born in Burke, SD, Mr. White grew up in Junction City, KS and moved to Albuquerque originally in 1940. He worked 15 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Clarence was a member of the Optimist Club of Albuquerque since 1984, a former Scout Master with the Boys Scouts of America, and coached for American Legion baseball. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 30 years of service and was a Chief Master Sergeant. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Mike Jayne, officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Optimist Club of Albuquerque, Youth Fund, P. O. Box 37227, 87176-7227, or to the Boy Scouts of America, Greater SW Council, 5841 Office Blvd. NE, 87109. Private disposition has taken place. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

RUDOLPH (RUDY) Johnson III, 51, of Albuquerque, died Monday. He was the southwest district manager and regional representative for Marcolin USA Inc. for 26 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Pauline Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Cassandra Johnson; son, Niklas Johnson; son, Alexander Johnson; father, Rudy Johnson II; brother, Mike Johnson; and former wife, Janice Lynn Petitjean-Dreisbach. Memorial contributions may be directed to the estate of Cassandra and Niklas Johnson, Rudy's children, for their health, education and welfare. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at a later date. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service.

MEDARDO MONDRAGON, 90, of Llano Quemado, died Wednesday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira Torres Mondragon; brothers and sisters, Levi Mondragon, Senida Torres, Loy Mondragon, Cirelia Mondragon and grandson, Robert Varos. He is survived by his daughters, Millie Rivali (George), Frances Martinez (Andres), Polly Varos (Bobby), and Juanita Roybal (Carpio Romero); brother, Filadelphio Mondragon (Loren); sister-in-law, Solidea Griego; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the same church with burial to follow at New Llano Quemado Cemetery. FIDELIA V. SERRANO, 65, of Cañones, died Thursday following a lengthy illness. She was a member of the church choir in Cañones, and she loved to sing. She was involved in the Cursillos and marriage enrichments. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Pedro and Manuelita Velasquez; brother, Roman Velasquez; sister, Clora Maestas; nephews, Eugene Maestas and Tomas Sandoval; two infant children; father and mother-in-law, Aquilino and Raquel Serrano; and brother-in-law, Antonio Serrano. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Benicio Serrano Sr. of Cañones; daughters, Dorothy Vigil and husband Danny of El Rito, Evelyn Gutierrez and husband Anthony of Abiquiu, and Graciola Serrano and companion Denny Roybal of Pojoaque; sons, Benny Serrano Jr. and companion Angie Gutierrez of Cañones, Ronnie Serrano and companion Nellie Herrera, and Fidel Serrano and wife Prescilla both of Abiquiu; 17 grandchildren: both of Pojoaque; sisters, Lucy Valdez and husband Serafin of Cañones, and Mary Sandoval and husband Marcelino of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the Cañones Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cañones Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Cañones Cemetery. STEVE TALAMANTE, 47, of Española, died Wednesday following a sudden illness. He lived in California for about 15 years where he was a machinist. He was an artist and tattoo artist. He drew on paños and did some oil painting. He was retired for about 15 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Talamante; maternal grandparents, Aurora and Teofilo Sisneros. He is survived by his daughters, Stella Talamante, Gina Talamante with a baby on the way and Cynthia Talamante all of Montebello, Calif.; companion, Edna Martinez of Española; stepson, Jacob Martinez of Chimay¢; mother, Carmen Dixon of Española; dad, Manuel Dixon of Española; father, Alfred Talamante of Lumberton; sisters, Linda Sisneros of Medanales and Natasha DeCosta of Española and Lori Talamante; brothers, Ricky Dixon and wife Darlene, Roland Dixon and wife Arlene, Dino Dixon and wife Shirley all of Española, and Anthony Dixon and wife Yolanda of Hernandez, and Mark Talamante of Rio Chama; and many other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and funeral services have been held. DeVargas Funeral Home of the Española Valley.

Mark Dennis Anaya, age 40, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002. He was employed by Pace Iron Works. Mark is survived by his parents, Anthony Joe and Dolores Anaya; beloved daughter, Shantel Anaya; two brothers, Anthony Brian Anaya and wife, Veronica of Rio Rancho, Stanley Conrad Anaya and wife, Gigi of Albuquerque; sister, Renee Baca and husband, Eloy of Salem, Oregon; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2002. James Verrill (JV) (Bokey) Atterberry died August 8, 2002. He is survived by his only child, Angela Atterbury;, his only grandchild, Austin J Atterbury-Kiernan, both of Albuquerque, NM; his last surviving sister, Verna Vandemeer of Torrance, California; sister-in-law, Ann Atterbury of Bellflower, CA; nephews, Ken, Don and Randy Atterbury of Orange County, California; niece, Diane Routh and husband, Larry of Houston, Texas and a bunch of talented and good-looking great-nieces and nephews. Bokey was born to Vera Susanne Hemphill Atterbury and John Wesley Atterbury on May 9, 1925, in Blue Ridge, Texas. JV was a manager of White Stores, Inc., on Central Avenue in Albuquerque, New Mexico for more than 20 years; he was an inspiring employer to many and made a point of hiring Vietnam Veterans. When he retired as manager of White's in Albuquerque, he bought a store in Roswell, New Mexico, where he ran a successful business before retiring five years ago. Bokey was an excellent hunter, using bow and muzzleloader for a variety of game. He was the last and eighth child of Vera and JW; she was in her late forties and he in his early fifties when JV was born. He served as a Merchant Marine in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during WWII; his boat was fired upon by U-boats in the Atlantic. His grandmother was a full blood Kaskasia (Tall Backs) Native American, chief tribe of the Illinois Confederacy. He also was descended from Francis Atterbury, who was chaplain to Queen Anne, founder of Westminster Library, Dean of Westminster Cathedral, founder of the first philosophy club in London during the 1700's, the Kit Kat Club, a peer of Jonathan Swift and Alexander Pope, who often edited Pope's works. While that man is buried in Westminster Abby in London (next to this century's tourist information desk) JV will be buried in Westminster, Texas, near his grandparents, Francis Marion Atterbury and Nancy, the Tall Back, who helped found the Texas city in the 1870's after moving from Illinois down the Big Sandy River. They helped start the Methodist University there. JV was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He rescued dolls from trash heaps. He drove a mean four wheel drive. He was an ornery man who had a very sensitive interior. He will be loved and missed by those who knew him. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday with a memorial service following the visitation at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas NE in charge of arrangements.

Anthony Reyes Austin was born July 13, 1964 and passed away August 12, 2002. He was loved by his children, Anthony Jr., and Chelo Austin; treasured by his parents, Frank and Rose Austin; cherished by his sisters, Kathy, Vickie and Dolores; loved and respected by his nephews, Sammy and Eric Anaya, Luciano and Lucas Crespin, Toby Jr. and Jonathan Villanueva and lots of fun memories by family and friends. Services will be held at the Church on the Rock, 5300 2nd St. NW. on Thursday, August 15, 2002 with a viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. and Funeral Services at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Delilah Jean Barker a resident of Rio Rancho passed away suddenly on August 10, 2002. Delilah was born on April 13, 1985 in Albuquerque. She was a former student at Rio Rancho High School and was a current student at Cibola High School looking forward to completing her senior year. Delilah was very passionate about life. She enjoyed playing volleyball, going to movies with her friends, loved going out to eat, and riding motorcycles. Delilah adored her friends and cherished the time that they spent together. She liked to attend school dances and other school activities and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Delilah will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Patricia and Harold Barker. Delilah is survived by her beloved parents, Penny and Terry Barker of Rio Rancho; brothers, Michael Barker and wife, Sarah of Ft. Wayne, IN, Adam Barker of Rio Rancho; grandparents, Fred and Mary Aragon of Albuquerque, Charles Brown of Tulsa, OK; uncles, Anthony and Donny Aragon, Gary, Dean and Keith Barker; aunts, Lori Bruckman, Dorothy Huff, Wanda Jones, Brenda Barker; and many, many special friends. A visitation for Delilah will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2002 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd. in Rio Rancho, with Rosary being recited at 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho. Services under the care of Sunrise Funeral Options (891-9192).

Dale H. Carlson, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Friday, August 9, 2002. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Kristine Donarski and husband, Joe of Princeton, IL; stepson, Korby Schaill and wife, Cami of Peoria, IL; cousins, Dolores Thompson and husband, Gene of Leavenworth, KS, Shirley Morehead of Osowatamee, KS; and Jimmy Gwartney of Tallahassee, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold J. Carlson, mother, Florence L. Carlson, and brother, Paul H. Carlson. Dale graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1951. He attended UNM and received his Masters in 1965 from Highlands University. He worked with the American Uranium Corp. from 1954 to 1958. From 1965 to 1970, he worked at American Uranium Corp. and Colorado Mines and Metal. From 1970 until his death, he was a consulting geologist for M.P. Grace, Exxon Corp., and companies managed by Albert W. Applegath. He was a member of American Legion Post #49. He attended Hoffmantown Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Thursday, August 15, 2002, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Larry D. Stroup officiating. Robert 'Bob' H. Clinch, born April 17, 1922 in Peoria IL died Sunday August 11, 2002. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; son, Edward and daughter, Joanna. Bob served in the Army Air Corp during WWII and with the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. Bob went on to 30 more years of Civil Service with the Government. Bob is survived by six children, Dan Clinch and Jan Whiteleather, John Clinch, Kathy and Rex Harrison, Barb and Mike Kepsel, Laura Clinch and Gina Clinch. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Eric, Robbie, Matt, Erin, Richard and Elizabeth and one great-grandchild, Alexander. Memorial Services will be held Thursday August 15, 2002, 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors is handling his arrangements.

William Crackel, 79, a lifelong resident of New Mexico died Saturday, August 10, 2002. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Fern Crackel; daughter, Lana Finley of Albuquerque; grandson, Derrick Finley of Mooresville, NC; sister-in-law, Mussette Trent of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law, Bob Carrico and wife, Lois; nephew, Monty Carrico and wife, Lucy all of Albuquerque; nieces, Cheryl Thompson and husband, Sandy Tolman and husband, and Darlene Harwell and husband. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He lived a long, full life, he laughed often and much- He will be remembered by all who knew him with great love and respect. He was retired as top salesman from Keebler Company. William served in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He received the Purple Heart and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a long time member of Hoffmantown Church where he served as an usher, attended bible study classes and worked in many other church activities. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2002, 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd.

Tomas 'Your Champion' Felix, 21, passed away August 10, 2002. A lifetime resident of Albuquerque, he graduated from Albuquerque High School and was a World Champion Muay Thai Fighter. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Luz Felix; daughter, Destiny Felix; brothers, Daniel Felix and Javier Felix; grandparents, Juan and Socorro Ramirez; longtime companion, Racquel Villegas; uncles, aunts, and other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2002. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2002 with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jose Ramirez, Alfredo Chacon, Gustavo Rubio, Javier Felix, Daniel Felix, and Patrick Perchas. Honorary pallbearer will be Alex Gutierrez.

Dixie A. Fesler, 93, born in Baird Texas, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Carlson of Bernalillo, NM; grandsons, Randell Carlson and wife of Rio Rancho, James Carlson and wife from Bethlehem, PA, Jason Carlson of Bernalillo, NM.; and two nieces, Barbara Nieman and Nola Aquilar both of San Antonio, Texas. Dixie was a 50 plus year charter member of the Sunshine Chapter of the Eastern Star, as well as Charter Member of the Sandia Base Coronado Women's Club. She led a full, active and loving life, always supporting her children to be the best they can be. Always a friend to everyone she met. Many thanks to Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice and her nurse MJ for making her last days pleasant. May she go with God and be greeted by her predeceased husband, James A. Fesler. She will be missed. Graveside Services are set for Thursday morning, August 15, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. Sandia Memorial Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to the University of New Mexico for a Business Administration Scholarship under her name.

Dennis Wayne Fillmore was born December 31, 1953 and passed away August 11, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry C. Fillmore and his sister, Patricia L. Fillmore. Dennis is survived by his mother, Dorothy L. Fillmore; brother, Vincent E. Fillmore; sisters, Gail M. Patterson and Angela D. Fillmore; grandmother, Lenora Young; brother-in-law, Ronald Lee; nephews, Jamal C. Lee and Nicholas S. Lee; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Viewing and Services will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at the corner of University and Gibson SE. on Saturday, August 17, 2002. A viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 noon. Anthony D. Garcia, 40 a resident of Albuquerque was taken from us on Sunday, August 11, 2002. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rose, his brother, Richard Garcia and his uncle, Joe Sanchez. Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Paula; his sons, Anthony Jr. and Christopher; step-children, Christina, Jeremy, Brianna and Christopher; grandson, Damien; his two god children, Matthew and Janessa. He is also survived by his parents, Raymond and Maryann; his three brothers, Raymond Jr., Matthew Andrew and Marc; his three sisters, Patricia, Roberta and Allyson; close cousin, Ronnie Sanchez; father and mother in law, Mary and Fredrico Munoz along with numerous family members and friends. Anthony was an avid Miami Dolphin's fan who served in the US Army Reserves and will have military honors. Anthony brought a lot of love and laughter to all that touched his life. Anthony was loved as high as the stars and the moon in the sky. He will be greatly missed. Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo Del Norte) with Mel Gonzales, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8321 Camino San Martin SW with Father James Vance, celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Anthony Garcia Jr., Matthew Andrew Garcia, Raymond Garcia, Marc Garcia, Rudy Garcia, Mark Walker and James Gary. Augustina Garcia, 86, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002 in Silver City. She was a resident of Albuquerque most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paciano Garcia. She is survived by her sons, Nick Garcia and wife, Dolores of Novato, CA, Gilbert Garcia and wife, Liz of San Diego, CA, Mike Garcia and wife, Donna of Albuquerque, Ruben Garcia and wife, Sadie of Silver City, NM, Ralph Luna and wife, Ki of Santa Cruz, CA, Lorenzo Garcia and wife, Angela of Denver, CO; daughters, Alice Avila and husband, Ben of Palastina, Mexico, Teresa Avalos and husband, Albert of Sacramento, CA, Millie Pollock and husband, Raymond of Albuquerque, and Mary Otero of Albuquerque; 41 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Bacas Funeral Chapel on East US Highway 180 and Delk #D, Silver City. Services will be held at St. Francis Newman Center Parish, 914 W. 13th St. Silver City at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
