Isidora Segura, born April 4, 1906, passed away September 25, 2000. Isidora, born in Cuba, NM, raised in Sile, NM, and a resident of Albuquerque, is survived by five daughters, Juanita Nieto, Esther Segura, Grace Trujeque and husband, Gilbert, Reina Segura and husband, Joe, Dorothy Zamora and husband, Horace; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Sile, NM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2000, and at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2000. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2000, with burial following at Sile Cemetery. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW, Albuquerque, 505-343-8008.

Steven A. Torrez, 46, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family on September 24, 2000. Mr. Torrez was the beloved brother to Guadalupe Torrez, Jr. and wife, Susan, Daniel Torrez, Robert Torrez and wife, Tomasita, Joseph Torrez, and Jerome Torrez. He is also survived by two uncles, Raymond Armijo and Albert Holguin; two nieces, Catherine Barragan and Theresa Torrez; four nephews, Robert Lee Torrez and wife, Shelly, Mark Torrez, Ian Torrez and Jerimiah Torrez; one great-niece, Jasmine Torrez; two great-nephews, Keith Torrez and Julio Camden; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Virginia Torrez. Steven was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Corrina Romero, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, 9:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 Stover SE, with final visitation at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father James Moore, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Jose De Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph Torrez, Jerome Torrez, Catherine Barragan, Robert Lee Torrez, Pete Armijo and Paul Armijo. Alex Velarde, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away September 24, 2000. He was born in Hurly, NM on July 8, 1918. After 25 years with the Albuquerque Fire Department, he retired in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Annie of 58 years; six children, Marcie Talese, David and wife, Lorraine, Arthur and wife, Mary, Sam and wife, Melva of Virginia, Alice and husband, Paul Rodriguez, and youngest son, Albert; ten grandchildren, Marcos Gutierrez, Valerie Groll, Kimberly Velarde, Bryan Velarde, Brandon Velarde, Lisa Velarde, Ana Maria Velarde, Candy De La O, Tanya Rodriguez, and Tyerza Velarde; great-grandchildren, Shannon and Mariah Groll, Adam, Shannon and Amanda Velarde, Rudy Velarde, and Santana, Ray Ray, and Deija De La O; sister, Hilda Salas; and brother, Ben Velarde, both of Los Angeles. He was a life member of the American Legion. He served in the US Navy from November 1, 1943 to October 30, 1944. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at the Salazar & Sons Chapel. A visitation will take place Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

A Mass will be celebrated for Adelina Lena Wright today at the Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will be Salomon Chavez, Ramon Chavez, Anthony Carrasco, Larry Carrasco, Bill Pedigo, and Richard Griego. Arrangements by the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

PAUL D. OLIVAS, 61, of El Llano died Saturday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Climaco and Apolonia Olivas. He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Flora Fresquez and husband Agapito of California, Bilo Olivas of Albuquerque, Arturo Olivas of Rio Rancho, Annabelle Tafoya of Menlo Park, Calif., and Leyvan Olivas of Georgia; nieces and nephews Nadine Quintana of Rio Rancho, Gerald Olivas and Norman Olivas, both of Chimay¢, Deborah Olivas, Junior Olivas, Beverly Alana, Dave Tafoya, Juvella Mc Cloud, Louie Tafoya, Donald Tafoya, Sheila Olivas, Susan Viles, Phylis Redgeley, Robert Fresquez and Lenny Fresquez, all of California, and Michelle Olivas of Georgia; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at La Igelsia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. DeVargas Funeral Home, Española.

MABEL ROMERO, 55, of Santa Fe died Tuesday. She was born Nov. 27, 1944. She loved music especially mariachi music and was a member of St. Francis Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ascencio Romero Jr.; son, Marcial Eliseo Romero; and brother, Rubel Roybal. She is survived by her sons, Mike Romero and wife Roberta, Marcial Romero and wife Janet, Marcos Romero, Martin Romero and wife Renee, and Manuel Romero and Tina Anaya, all of Santa Fe; daughter, Michelle Romero and husband Alvin of Santa Fe; grandchildren Anthony Montoya, Michael Angelo Montoya, Felipe Montoya, Michael Robert Romero Jr., David Romero, Crystal Romero, Marcial Romero Jr., Jose Romero, Matthew Romero, Martin Romero Jr., Marlene Romero, Sonja Romero, Jazmine Romero, and Camille Romero; great-grandson, Danielle Montoya; sisters, Socorro Gutierrez, Timotea Chavez, Antonia Salazar and husband Antonio, and Diana Archuleta and husband Richard; brothers, Margarito Roybal and wife Bertha, and Nazario Roybal; and numerous other relatives and friends. JERRI ANN YVONNE SANCHEZ, 19, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Thursday. She was born Feb. 7, 1981, to Juanita M. Sanchez Vigil and Alex Jaramillo. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Geronimo Sanchez; and stepfather, Joseph A. Vigil. She is survived by her daughter, Mari Cruz Sanchez; mother, Juanita Marie Sanchez Vigil; sister, Stephanie M. Urioste and husband Anthony; grandmother, Teodora Sanchez; nephews, Anthony Urioste Jr., and Jesus Urioste; niece, Samantha Urioste; aunt, Angie M. Dimas; special cousins, Jolyn Ortiz and husband Fernando, Justin and Christin Ortiz; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same church. LUISE ANNE SOHOLT, 57, of White Rock died Friday in Santa Fe. She was born on Long Island, N.Y. She received her masters of library science degree from the University of Southern California. She was active in the Ladies Circle of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. She is survived by her husband, Lars F. Soholt of White Rock; son, Timothy K. Soholt of Albuquerque; mother, Kathe Rose of Risskin, Fla.; father, Robert Lounsbury of Squaw Valley, Calif.; and brother, George Lounsbury of Escondido, Calif. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Los Alamos. McGee Memorial Chapel.

Anthony (Andy) David Anglin, 38, beloved and devoted son, brother and father was called home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 23, 2001. An earthly light flickered out and a new light born in heaven. And so, Andy, our sweet son, loyal brother, loving father; we, who are left with only cherished memories, bid you farewell for a while, until we meet again. Andy is survived by his loving parents, Billy A. and Lola M. Anglin of Edgewood; his children, Amanda Rose and Vidal Anglin both of Albuquerque; one brother, Michael A. Anglin and wife, Patty of Edgewood. Also surviving are his nephews, Jason and Kenneth Anglin; uncles and aunts, Dale and Marcy Anglin of Albuquerque, Donald and Patricia Hensley of Farmington, David and Gail Duke of El Paso, TX; and numerous cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations for Andy will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Charles Paul Bradley, CSM, US Army Retired, 71, died at Presbyterian Hospital at 5:10 p.m. on September 23, 2001 from complications resulting from an automobile accident involving an inebriated driver. Charles was born on August 16, 1930 in McKeesport, PA. He was a gentle, courageous man of wit, humor and great moral strength. He will be lovingly remembered by his soul mate, Ms. Mary McCall of Albuquerque. Charles is also survived by a large and loving family which includes, children, Charles Venezio of Round Rock, TX, Jan Tripp of Albuquerque, NM, Darlene Torres of Yelm, WA, Grant Bradley of Steilacoom, WA, Christopher Bradley of New Haven, CT and Constance Bradley of Warren, MA; grandchildren, Lisa Daugs, Terry Wilhelm, George Priest, Irish MacDougall, Tonja Anderson, Nolen Bradley, Christopher Bradley, Katie Bradley, and Giovanni Bradley; and six great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Bradley; sister, Fran Kerrivan; and former wives, Sigrid Bradley, Jane Grimmet and Siegrund Venezio. Mr. Bradley retired from a distinguished army career as Command Sergeant Major E9, First Calvary Division. During his 20-years of military service, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Riflery Badge. Charles was awarded an MS in Business Education from the University of New Mexico in 1973. After teaching at UNM and Alabama State University, he began an 18-year career at the Los Alamos National Laboratory from which he retired in 1994. He enjoyed life tremendously, spending time with his loved ones and military comrades, attending Elder Hostel classes, traveling, reading, dining out and telling terrible jokes. Charles was a charter member of the Lovely Man Society. His many talents included bolstering people's spirits during times of great difficulty, enduring regular sessions at the gym, power-slouching and wearing a balloon hat in public with an unparalleled sense of joie de vivre. Graveside service will be held Monday, October 1, 2001, 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Bernice E. Carnes, 81, a resident of Tijeras, died Saturday, September 22, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra C. Fulton and husband, Brett of Edgewood, NM; granddaughter, Ashley; sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Martha Ann; and numerous other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, James J. Carnes, who served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII with the to 464th Bomber Group. Services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2001, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary-Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Johanna T. Case, age 72, a resident of Albuquerque and Santa Fe for 41 years, died September 23, 2001. Survivors include daughter, Johanna Johnson; son, Curtis Johnson both of Cedar Crest; son, Bill Johnson of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Born in Deming, 'Johnnie Lee ', is preceded in death by husbands, Paul; and John Elliott. Family and friends will gather Thursday, September 27, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at 2928 Ortiz NE.

Donald R. Fruits, 60, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, died Monday, September 24, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Fruits of Albuquerque; daughters, Kari Castillo and husband, Bill of Albuquerque and Kathi Murzyn and husband, Jay of St. Paul, MN; son, Khris Fruits of Seattle, WA; granddaughter, Aubrey Jimenez; grandsons, Sterling Castillo, Everson and Elliot Murzyn; brother, Lee Fruits of Washington; sister, Nola Botkin of Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews; and other family members. Mr. Fruits retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service to his country. He then worked with the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. Mr. Fruits was a faithful servant of God and a member of the Northeast church of Christ. Services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Northeast church of Christ, 11000 Paseo Del Norte NE, with John Phillis officiating. Trinidad Garcia, age 74, passed away on September 11, 2001 in Albuquerque. Mr. Garcia was a WWII Veteran and a member of Post 99.'Daddy, we will miss you '. Born in San Rafael, NM June 10, 1927 to Candelaria Gutierrez and Jose Leon Garcia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Felipe Garcia; his sister, Mary Cordova; his daughter, Judith Heyboar; his beloved grandson, 'Lil' David Briones. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years; his daughters, Jackie Gossett, Janette Briones and Jessica Velez; his sons, Joseph and Rosemary Garcia, Jonathan and Irene Garcia, James and Susie Garcia; his nephews, Danny and Milli Cordova, Rich and Lourdes Cordova, Arthur and Alba Cordova and Connie Cordova; and many nieces and nephew on the Roybal, Cordova and Garcia family. He was blessed with a loving family of 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, Ruben and Inez Roybal, Michael and Debra Roybal, and Ralph Roybal; sisters-in-law, Louise and Henry Martinez and Virginia Roybal. Walter S. Geis, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, September 24, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Geis, which celebrated their 68 years wedding anniversary on his birthday, January 31st. He is also survived by his sons, Robert Geis and wife, Anna Mae of Albuquerque and Edward Geis of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Jennifer McColley and husband, Scott of Littleton, CO, Catherine Wright and husband, Brian of Reno, NV, Edward Geis and wife, GeGe of Corpus Christi, TX, Patricia Cossette and husband, Mitchell of Olympia WA, Bradley Geis and wife, Chris of Glendale, AZ, Stephen R. Geis, Robin Schritter and husband, Bill and Gayle Geis-O'Dowd and husband, Daniel, all of Albuquerque; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary; daughter-in-law, Barbara; and all of his twelve brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Albuquerque Police Department for ten years, worked for the Bernalillo Co. Sheriffs Department serving as Under Sheriff to Sheriff Harold Hubbell and was also the State Fair Police Chief for eight years and served as an Investigator for the State Human Rights Commission. He was well-known in the Sports Circles as a baseball umpire and was the first umpire inducted into the Albuquerque Softball & Baseball Hall of Fame on September 28, 1984. Upon his retirement he repaired free of charge many baseball gloves for Little Leaguers and High School players. He was a lifelong member of Fraternal Order of Police, Knights of Columbus and National Sheriffs Association. Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, September 29, 2001, 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Alva Emma Gilcrease, who would have been 95 on November 26, 2001 passed away on the night of Tuesday, September 25, 2001. Born in Burneyville, OK, she came to New Mexico in 1930. She is survived by seven children, Roberta and Allen Stufft of Albuquerque with whom she lived for the past six years, Faye Rozell of Pinetop, AZ, Della and Sam Juckett of Albuquerque, NM, Karrel Wayne and Wanda Gilcrease of Carlsbad, JM, Murrel Lee and Mary Gilcrease of Jacksonville, FL, Gwen and Richard Miller Jr. of Los Lunas, NM, and William J and JoAnna Gilcrease of Albuquerque, NM; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way; one sister-in-law, Reatha Louise Gilcrease of Albuquerque, NM; three nieces; one nephew; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jordan Lee Gilcrease; three sons; her mother and father; one brother; one sister; one grandson; two great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. Alva will be remembered for the love she shared with many, and her gifts of quilts and jars of homemade jelly. She will be missed for her quiet understanding, her strength, and her tight hugs. Alvin L. 'Buster' Gleason, 82, was born in Albuquerque on September 11, 1919, and passed away September 24, 2001. He worked for the State Health Lab and later retired from A.C.F. Alvin is survived by his wife, Elsie of the family home in Albuquerque; children, Roy Gleason and wife, Noreen, Lydia Rael and husband, Al, Paul Gleason and wife, Denise, Mark Gleason and wife, Lauren all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Shane Turpen and wife, Lynette of Albuquerque, Melissa Jaramillo and husband, Randy of Germany, Rhiannon Gleason and Jordyn Gleason both of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Donovan Turpen of Albuquerque and Dustin Jaramillo of Germany; brother, James Gleason and wife, Betty of Albuquerque; sisters, Dorothy Steele of Albuquerque and Rosemary Harty and husband, Gene of Jemez; other nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved and will miss him. Reverend Jean Ancona Goldberg passed away on September 10, 2001. She was 89 years old.
